  1. To answer the title question, armour can't be crafted by armortech, armorMECH makes armour. And did I miss something? Blues can be broken to make orange gear? Since when? Also you can only crit craft orange gear (with an aug slot) after update 1.2.
  2. I'm considering the same, although I already have an armormech. The choice as I see it is beat myself up with the broken RE mechanic to try and find purple ear-ring schems to try and make money, keeping cyber to basically gear alts while levelling or follow the herd and go biochem. If there is no love for cybertech in 1.2 and with minimal viable endgame gear it will definitely be the runt of the crew skills.
  3. There's this and the fact that you can't have your recipes list open at the same time as the GTN to see if you have already learned a schematic (and there's no other way to know). I hope they fix this in 1.2, having a maximum of 2 UI windows open at once is insane.
  4. Awesome thread, I rolled a Merc yesterday and was looking for pointers. Good to see a thread that's an actual discussion rather than a troll fest! STICKY REQUEST!!
  5. DOT - Damage over time LOS - Line of Sight also COMBAT AoE - Area of Effect, AoE attacks hit multiple opponents often in the form of a cone shape or 360 degree attack. BUFF - A buff increases your stats to improve your performance DEBUFF/DUFF - A debuff decreases your stats to decrease your performance CC - Crowd Control, abilities which hinder the movement of enemies, roots, holds and slows for example ST - Single Target, attacks which only effect one opponent DPS - Damage Per Second, a form of measuring how much damage you deal every second DOT - Damage Over Time HOT - Heal Over Time XP - Experience Points, Experience points are gained to level your character through completing quests and killing enemies INC - Incoming, used when enemies are approaching PROC - Special Procedure, refers to an event triggered under particular circumstances. My Lightsaber might have a 10% chance to do 15 extra damage. HP - Health Points KS - Kill Steal, said when another player takes the final blow or attacks an already attacked target OP - Over Powered, used to describe something with incredible strength and power REZ - Resurrection, the act of bringing someone back to life RNG - Random Number Generator, same as rolling a dice. Often used in terms with PROC full list and informative thread, http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=612#anchor14
  6. Bioware?!?! How can you allow such a blatant imbalance to carry on?!? This poor Republic player is queuing for WZs and is facing odds of 8:12.4 (100% = 2 groups/8 players. 155% = 3.1 groups/12.4 players) THIS IS AN OUTRAGE!!
  7. At least, you know, something people want... including us. At the minute it's almost a money saver just for levelling up, that's if a) you can make some extra to sell and b) you can get the blue/purple schematic to pop before you out grow it. Throw us a bone, you nerfed our grenades which were the only thing people wanted at 50 anyway
  8. This ^ I hate seeing those posts a week after a game is released, you know the "I reached max level in 2 days and now I'm bored" posts. The story in the game (yes, I'm talking about the storyline, again) is really rich and interesting to follow unless you're in so much of a hurry that you spacebar through every conversation just to sprint off and kill stuff. Each planet has it's own character, not all to my taste, on my next alt I'm only going to Alderaan to do my class quest and I will be shadowed by my wife's level 50 Sorcerer but I think I did every single Taris quest I could get my grubby hands on. And that's just the quest stuff, there's flashpoints, warzones, space missions, crafting... ok crafting and space missions are fairly shallow content wise but there's loads to do. Make an alt that you wouldn't usually play, I have always played either ranged DPS or healing healer (100% heals) and I have rolled 3 tank classes so far in SWTOR just to try... on the subject, how easy to play is Commando? My 6 year old son plays him better than me.
  9. Flip a coin 1,000,000 times and it comes up heads everytime on flip1,000,001 you still have a 50/50 chance of it coming up tails. It's pure RNG, I have had to break 40-50-60 greens to get a blue then the very next green has popped first try. I am definitely not a fan of this system as skill has no baring on results but it's working fine.
  10. From yesterday http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=313876 Bugged? Maybe. Will it be fixed? Unlikely.
  11. So to answer the OP's original question, it seems that yes UT Missions are bugged. Labelling something "Rich yeild" when it's really a tier 6 Underworld Trading lucky bag mission is bugged, sending Kaliyo out (9k affection, +2 crit on UT) for an hour at a cost of 2k for her to return with 2 blue metals is completely bogus! UT metal missions are the bain of my online existence, I counted the other night, in t4, 5 and 6 not one mission for metals but 14 for companion gifts?!? And to fix this I need to log out and back in again?
  12. Hey there, my Sniper has just hit 40 so I don't want to ruin the storyline for you but... I'm almost 100% Marksman and PvP is great fun as long as you're not on your own facing a crowd, for example last night I landed in a Huttball, my team was me, a sorcerer, 2 Ops and the rest were all Assassins. The sorcerer spent the entire match healing himself because he had no choice, the sins and ops were stealthed about 90% of the time which left me as the easy target, 15 deaths... but we won 2-0. Running with a crowd so that you don't get noticed you should comfortably manage 150-200k. Also the Assassin Award for solo kills is a fun one to get, especially from range without taking any damage yourself, you know your target is thinking "***? Who the hell is shooting me?!?!"
  13. Thanks for the weak trolling attempt, better luck next time... I'm posting from work again, mad much?
  14. I'm playing dailly and loving it! I constantly find myself day-dreaming about things like Huttball and I'm currently managing to function on less than 20 hours sleep a week. I have 4 toons on the dark side and 2 on the light, 5 crafters and I keep a note pad by my keyboard to keep track of my biggest hit in WZs (Sniper is my main). I spend a worrying amount of time at work on these forums (yes, I'm at work now) and I am looking forward to new developements. I left EQ2 because the devs broke it and went to Rift. I left Rift because the devs broke it and wandered the MMO wilderness until SWTOR came out... fingers crossed, no regrets.
  15. Hey Tim Read up as much as possible on different classes and watch the videos, even try the ones on Youtube and see if anything grabs you. Check out http://www.swtor.com/info/systems/advanced-classes to see how they can be speciallised And http://www.swtor.com/info/systems/companions if your class companion might sway the desicion (My son is 6 and wanted to roll a character but he HAD TO HAVE A WOOKIE!!) Most of all, don't believe the haters and have fun
  16. This ^ The only thing you don't gain from doing quests that have "greyed out" is experience... which is what you don't want... Am I missing the point?
  17. /sign When I was a kid we played Warhammer RPG (kinda low rent DnD) and came up with a rule that if you rolled a double 0 (2xD10) you had to roll again, if the trend of 0s continued until you rolled 8 0s in a row the Millenium Falcon would swoop in and nuke your character and your character sheet had to be burned. It never actually happened but then it's 100,000,000 to 1ish... fun times, true story too.
  18. This ^ If your attitude and skills suck at level 10 then they will probably suck at level 50. I got my Assassin badge on my sniper at level 18, a solo kill on the ball handler just after respawning, I took him out on the ramp leading down to our goal line (Huttball, obviously)... and why was it a solo kill? Because all of the level 40+ toons in there were off on there own trying to face-roll lowbies for self gratification.
  19. Yes... almost. Essentially yes because I understand that the game is box fresh and there are ALWAYS teething problems. While the launch may not have been faultless (personally I had minimal problems with the "game breaking" bugs people QQd about) it was far smoother than other MMOs I have played. I am looking forward to more customisation at some point and more developement to areas like crafting ie. maybe crafting missions where I have more to do than send a companion and cross my fingers; In the future; "Oh, you can make that item? You put in a lot of hard work doing that crafting quest line, I'm impressed, you could become a valued ally" "Thanks, now pay up!" Now; "Oh, you can make that item? That must have taken a lot of right clicking?" "Yes, I enjoy right clicking..." Thanks
  20. 90%?!? I think this is fraud... where's my "law suit" button?
  21. Unfortunately they were fried due to a spelling mistake
  22. Hey, I'm not sure if the RNG is broken but it is very random (I know that's what the "R" stands for but it's extreme. I have a cybertech and both my wife and I were bored with hte dailly grind so rolled some alts to take a fresh view of the game, obviously needing gear I started on their mods, armouring etc. I didn't have the needed blue recipes so started making stacks and breaking for upgrades pretty successfully until I hit the 14A recipes, I broke at least 35 of the willpower heavy mod before the blue recipe popped, then I realised with dread that I didn't have the blue cunning mod either. I sent all available companions out making them and it popped first try. So it just seems completey random, skill vs. schematic level has no bearing as both recipes were greyed out when I made them.
  23. It's like "Dear Shotgun Manufacturer, I accidentally shot myself using one of your products, after the 3rd time I realised that it was quite painful. I would therefore like a full refund... and a new leg."
  24. This is such a non-issue that Bioware will probably patch it straight away and completely ignore the actual bugs in the game.
  25. I suppose it depends on what you want from crafting/crew skills, my main is cybertech which does come in handy for armouring, mods etc. breaking greens to get blues and blues to make purples can produce some really nice, and profitable, items but it can be a bit of a time and money sink. Also spaceship upgrades are a staple and sell regularly for around 6k each making a healthy profit. My wife on the other hand went for artificing and between recipe levels 0-40 found it really expensive ad sales were intermittent, only after maxxing out the skill and REing (ALOT) to find purple recipes is she seeing a return on her money and effort with some off-hand focus items going for 40-60k. My alt is a Sith Inquisitor so I went for synthweaving (archaeology and underworld) and he has been self sufficient armour-wise well into his mid 20s. Alternatively my new baby Marauder has gone gathering only, I took scavenging, bioanalysis and archaeology which means I can feed all of my other crafters and sell the other raws... On the subject of selling raws, I am not one of those people who see that no-one else is selling that particular tier 1 raw and so put it up for sale at 600 credits per item, I'm a reasnable person so I only expect a reasonable price. Hope this helps
