  1. I play mostly on Republic side, but have been doing more imperial side lately around midnight to 1:00 or 2:00 AM. Imps are definitely getting better there as I think we won 5 of the 8 battles I was in. The other two were much more competitive than last week when it just seemed complete like Imps got their butts handed to them each time. Tonight I saw a lot more teamwork and people were not rushing into situations where they stood no chance. Scouts were chasing Gunships. More objectives captured and held. Matches are getting more intense, no matter which side I play.
  2. Cool, that's the path I'm going in regards to weapons. One thing I find tough is keeping my engine power up. On the scout, I got it down to a science, but struggling here. Any suggestions what to use to help there? I do toggle my power to engines if I have free time, but it seems sapped fast if I'm chasing down a gunship or trying to escape a bad situation where the enemy has me outnumbered.
  3. Hi All, I play the scout and gunship primarily but have started dabbling on this craft now. For you ace strike pilots, what kind of loadout to you go for?
  4. This was the kind of home I hoped to find after a year away. It's a really friendly and fun-loving bunch on top of being a group of really skilled and knowledgeable players. Everyone has been extremely helpful and patient while I'm getting acclimated with all the changes. There's an easy to use website for event signups, and there's plenty to do. Ops are really well run. Communication is A+ and this group works very well together. I'm having a blast! (and isn't that the point of a game?) Kavich - 55 Smuggler
  5. Blaster damage is definitely very week. Ran the LLanic Assault and Syrvis Evacuation Missions on alts and targets took twice as long to eliminate. Also crashed into that same wall on Syrvis with no chance of avoidance. Just ran the Impossible Sector mine mission and had same issues with all top Grade 7 upgrades on the ship. Felt like I was using grade 1 stuff, but fortunately completed it. As a subscribing customer who spent cartel coins to get those ship upgrades, I'm even more disappointed that an innocent looking patch with no mention of space mission fixes actually broke the space missions. Seriously Mr. and Ms. Developers, I want to cut you guys some slack, but there's really no excuse for it. It's these kind of things that make me rethink subscribing - as much as I love this game, this stuff is very disappointing.
  6. The one thing I know that I didn't care for in this post is the guild section. I agree that a good guild is hard to find in any mmo, but many do exist. In a prior mmo, I was an officer and raid leader back in the days of 40 man raiding. If you think coordinating and motivating 4, 8, and 16 person groups can be a headache, imagine 40. We also put together pvp events, world boss attempts, guild contests (catch the biggest fish in our weekly fixing derby, for example). Now I could only do so much. It was up to our members to show and participate. I threw together a guild website to have a calendar and our our own forums. We wanted to give every opportunity for people to enjoy the mmo experience. What I just finally had to come to terms with is that you just can't make everyone happy no matter how you tried. People hardly used the forums. People didn't participate. People b###### and moaned about each other. Guild leadership is not as glorious and easy as people think it is. It literally was a second job. It takes a lot of effort, patience, and persistence. It also takes everyone in the guild to help make it a success. The best guilds I have been in are the smaller ones. They also had their own websites. The members were active on there. They were active within the guild. Whenever I look for a guild, I check out their forums and see what they talk about and what types of personalities are part of that guild. Just like dating, the chances the relationship will work out will depend on sharing the same interests and compatible personalities. No tool could be developed that can make those decisions for me.
  7. Good read and agree with many of you on things I'd like to see fixed/enhanced/changed. I don't agree that they aren't listening. On the contrary, i think they're doing a really nice job. All this clamoring over "need dev response", though, is astounding based on my experience as a developer & tech project lead myself. The decisions and prioritization of what goes into a product and subsequent releases is not in my hands. The people making those decisions often dont have a technical background. That is decided by executives and marketing types, who you hope have the pulse on what needs to be done. I get requirements and i do my best to meet them. Whether or not i agree is not up to me. My job is to do it. QA is supposed to be there to make sure i did right. At no time do i actually talk to the customer. I'd probably get fired if i did. People should appreciate the fact they do have such an influence on how this game is evolving. I read the patch notes and think to myself that these guys are really trying. I know i take great pride in a job well done, and no one is harsher than me when i make a mistake. I get the same sense from these developers. Here's a pat on the back from a fellow developer. Keep up the good work. For what it's worth, here's one person that enjoys your work and looking forward to more.
  8. There wouldn't be farmers if there wasn't a market for them. As long as people are willing to pay real world money for in game credits, this kind of crap will exist. But as long as the vermin are confined to their own instances and aren't ninjaing a chest from under my nose in the open world, I don't care.
  9. With so much emphasis on alts and legacy, why not adjust the bind on pickup restriction to bind on legacy? This way my alt with armortech can craft those sweet belt and bracers for my biochem tank (as one example). My artiface alt can craft those nice relics for my other characters. It pains me to see so much good stuff practically unusable. Removing the BoP restriction on craftables would be the preferred thing, but this would still make me a happy player.
  10. As an mmo vet, it should be no surprise that there will be a period of time before a company can release an expansion to continue the story. Dailies, flashpoints, operations, and pvp are all ways they have used to try to keep you hooked until then. Grind, yes. Got better ideas, then please put it in the suggestions thread. In the meantime, rather than co.e here and set yourself up for being flamed, use the time to check out the Sorc forum or any of the fan sites that have great tips. You do realize you have crowd control? You have a bubble to absorb damage that you can cast on you & your companion? You have heals, even as DPS? Did you analyze what went wrong and try to utilize your abilities better? A great and vastly underrated money maker is Space Missions, even the low level ones. Look them up on YouTube. Its a great investment. Do the bonus missions. Use the fleet commendations for great stuff, especially now for crafting mats. It's. So worth the time investment to learn them and do them. In less than an hour, I make 120000 credits and 110 commendations.
  11. Personally, these are the things that eventually led me away from WoW and what I find refreshing right now on SWTOR. I felt more like one of Pavlovs dogs reacting to all the bells and whistles rather than actually playing. It seemed more like a job rather than entertainment. As for being a part of MMOs forever, I will use the info on Curse to refute this. If you have info to the contrary, feel free to post what you have and I'll concede; but I see: deadly boss mods created Apr 29, 2008 recount created 17 Aug, 2007 Omen created 9 Sept 2007 Healbot created 29 Aug 2006 Those were the mods I had to have raid and I had to update them everytime WoW released a patch. I can't remember any issues clearing content prior to their existence. But, God, no one could do anything without them after their conception. Oh, and hooray for gearscore in 2009. The rabid epeening mentality that took over after that one was the straw that broke the camels back. I know people can be real idiots on the internet, but that addon took it to unprecedented levels. If these things make it into the game, so be it. It's a personal choice to use them. What I do want to see first is the fixing of game play issues with what we have now. I still find the game very playable and enjoyable, but I am afflicted by the occasional bug as well. Fix the basics, throw in the bells and whistles later. Seems like that happened to the current king that a lot of you like to compare this game to.
  12. I highly recommend doing the space missions, especially at 50. Get all the best possible upgrades and really aim for doing the bonus quests and secret bonuses (blowing up the command center on the huge destroyer and the communications tower below the station). At level 50, I make something like 100,000 credits a d earn about 100 space commendations for about an hour of effort. The huge thing is that you can get an epic box for 375 comms that yield a level 50 random epic. I have some really nice stuff waiting for my alts and upgraded my helmet just from that alone
