  1. Hmmm... It was fun getting curb stomped by a 4 player pre-made of Mara's yesterday.

Despite being one of the "worst" classes in PVP, these guys did pretty damn good together, which just convinces me that it's 'mostly' about teamwork and less about 'class'.

  2. For the last 6 month this has been happening ONLY in warzones.....PC completely locks up or crashes to the desktop. when it locks up the PC ONLY IN WARZONES..it destroys the game setiings file and corrupts the rest of the game requiring running setup again.

    Turn Shadows "OFF"

    Maybe try adjusting sound quality?

Have you noticed a particular 'event' happening on screen just before the lockup?

Sorry, I'm just shooting in the dark here, as I've never read of an issue like this, but I would suspect it's Direct X, or driver related - First.

It's just hard to determine what would be so radically different about WZ's than other parts of the game.

I presume you've raided (16 people?) and done flashpoints with no issues??

  3. OP - if you didn't unsub, then it isn't an issue.

You're a bit behind the curve as the "teams of operatives stun-locking players, causing them to unsub" are long over....

    *sigh....

  4. I think the OP agrees with you. No need to disagree with him.

BTW, stuns aren't crowd control. They're single target control. A single target =/= a crowd.

    Smarty pants.. :p

  5. No..no..no .no... NO... a thousand times NO.

CC - in particular STUNS are out of control in SWTOR. We have 1 CC breaker on a 2 min cool-down. 1:30 if talented. This isn't even considering that 'some' classes can completely blow up 'other' classes in 3 GCD.

I'm sorry, but I don't care WHO you are, getting CC'd and destroyed by 1 player in the time it takes for their CC to wear off, is just not fun. ( save for the person doing the killing.. I suppose )

Hence, why Operatives are so vastly different than they were at launch.

No class should be able to do that to another class, ever. It isn't balanced for 1 v 1, it isn't balanced for team vrs team, it isn't fun. Period. End of story.

For me personally - I tend to agree with the idea that there is far too much CC in SWTOR, yet we have to admit it's become absolutely critical to how many of our classes are played. But?? Without a complete overhaul (which isn't going to happen) of the game system... CC is here to stay. So.. I think a compromise is in order. Or CC breakers need to be on shorter cool downs. I do not believe this will radically alter the game. Even from a teamwork perspective as TTK is just too quick to begin with, and as others have pointed out.. we have a plethora of CC to throw around.

    1:30 by default

    1:00 with talent

This at least allows every player to have 1 self controlled CC breaker available for 'nearly' every fight.

I wont go into my list of changes for Hutt Ball, as the 30 second reduction in CC breakers would definitely affect that map...

  6. Actually - I'm not even sure this would be that difficult for Bioware to implement. Any 3D model can be exported. It's not difficult, it just requires someone to click a few buttons.

I'd be surprised if Bioware DIDN'T have a 3D printer in house already. They aren't that expensive anymore.

While they couldn't print them in full color, they could allow the following:

1: Player chooses costume slot they'd like the character modeled in.

2: Player chooses the 'mood' and 'pose' of the character.

The down side - it would be VERY expensive as It would take an entire day to print 1 toon out in full 3D.

So - not really sure If the 'average' person would do this, but it would certainly be wicked cool.

  7. Hmm...not sure if I'm the best person to ask. I mainly pug because I can't stand big guilds. From what I've seen if you want an elite guild you'd want something like Samurai Pizza Cats or Clickerz or something, but its probably not easy to get in with them. I don't really like some of the popular guilds like Cherry Pops, Meet Killface, and Gentleman Gankers because they have a lot of douches in them. I tend to be part of really small guilds that are basically just me and a couple friends. Depending on what time you queue up I'd be happy to queue with you. Especially now that 12x XP is here I am making some pubs so I have a presence on that faction. I can ask some of my friends pub side what they think is a good guild....maybe I will join one with you.

Quit pandering to Wicked's neediness Saiko.. sheesh.. We JUST transferred our smugs what??? 2 Days ago and he's already pining for some "new guild".

On a serious note.... We just need to fill out our duo. A "guild" is just a perk. Nobody cares how 'big it is' - it's the motion of the ocean, that counts.

Play times - typically: Nightly, after 9 PM (server time). Smugs are presently in mid 40's... and we've a few other lvl 60's we're contemplating transferring as well.

Wicked is likely 'more' interested in ranked than I am. I don't have any toons geared for that.

  8. On the contrary, familiarity with maps *as a stealth class* gives the player a huge advantage when playing against stealth classes. (And I know you know this, not trying to be condescending)

Running these PVP maps over and over with a stealth class allows you to be able to predict, quite accurately, how to play against stealth classes. For example, if I'm node guarding, say, Hypergates, an internal clock goes off - especially under certain scenarios - and many times a well placed AOE, stealthscan, or KB discovers some poor sap well before contact is expected. Every map has predictable paths and natural vantage points. So I take the OP's account with a grain of salt - more data needed for proper analysis. If he/she is an open minded player they'll figure it out.

But outside of that, just remember within 30 m Do Not Depend on your Stealth alone.

Hmmm.. perhaps. But one of my veteran PVP friends noticed a very similar event as the OP, just last night. 3 players literally ran straight to him from across the map. (Civil War)

Granted I didn't witness it, but he sure as hell was cursing about it in Vent. "***?? How did they know I was here?" he said.

"Don't stand out in the open, *******ss..." I replied. "L2P nub!"

"DUDE??!!" (he sounded insulted.. don't know why...??) "I was in stealth, off to the side... they literally just ran straight to me..??"

"Maybe they could smell you??" I suggested. "When was the last time you took a shower?"

"****wad!!" He yelled... "Im serious!! How the F***CK did they see me??!"

"Ok.. ok.. " I replied. ( I could tell he was getting tense now...) "Maybe...??? oh.. I don't know.... maybe they are hacking?" I suggested.

Ugh.. that was a mistake.... I had to turn the volume down on my headphones so my six year old wouldn't hear his profanity laced tirade.

See.. the lesson here people is that: PVP is NOT just in the game.

    I won.

  9. Pot5 and ALL the other PVP servers will continue to decline in populations. That is inevitable, as EA and the Developers will continue to ignore PVP as a revenue stream, simply because it isn't one.

I recall the developers being 'Surprised' at how many people PVP'd when the game first launched. They were literally shocked.

I'm not sure 'why' that was surprising to them, millions of people wanting to PVP in the star wars universe.. but it was.

Sadly, because their PVP system was... problematic... they "quite literally" lost millions of subscribers.

I sincerely doubt they will ever get those players back, regardless of what they do with PVP.

It will not surprise me in the least if in 2 years, ALL the PVP servers have been merged into PvE servers, and a new 'opt out' type of system is implemented.

Besides... EA has their new Star Wars PVP baby coming out this fall: Battle Front 3. There is no reason to dump more money into SWTOR PVP and certainly no reason to keep expensive servers running, that have no revenue generating population.

  10. It's not a troll thread.

Everything i've said is perfectly valid. it's about making a point.

    What was your point, exactly?

    That we need cross-server Q?

I think 99.9% of the community would agree with you on that point, however Bioware has already said "Aint gonna happen."

You are quite literally flogging a dead horse.

We will never get X Server Q, because they cannot do it.

    It's either technologically impossible.

    Or

Financially impossible, given where their dev budget goes.

PVP is what it is. They may tweek a few things here and there regarding balance, but... "New" technology will likely never ever...ever.....ever...EVER happen.

EA knows where the money is, and it isn't with PVP.

They tried to infuse LIFE into PVP with the GSF, but that bombed pretty hard, so I doubt we'll see anymore investments.

    Sad as that may be.

  11. Yes, the game is dying but its a slow death.

I would expect it to shut down right around the same time that EA's license expires.

From that point, Disney will be launching MMO's based on the Star Wars IP. In fact, Disney is very likely secretly developing several as I write this. They'd be crazy not too.

In the meantime, try to enjoy your stay but understand that all things eventually come to an end.

  12. Need to address theses issues:

People would out-level the tier before the season ended.

People would 'wait' to join until they hit the 'optimal' level for their tier, in a similar way that people will not join ranked Q's now, because they do not have the gear to compete.

  13. Perhaps the DEV's could chime in and let the community know EXACTLY what you expect bolster to do in Mid Tier PVP?

While the process of getting to 2018 expertise is pretty straight forward, it's the secondary stat spread/buffs/debuffs that leaves me scratching my head.

My personal experience - even with 2018 expertise in this zone, my lvl 36 still hits like a wet noodle and 50+ still hit like nuclear bombs.

My biggest hit of the night was 7k, but I was getting smacked fairly regular for 9 - 12k, so there appears to still be a relatively large power gap that bolster is not addressing.

Is Bolster only meant to address Expertise?? Or is it designed to provide powers/stats...etc.. as well?? Thus.. hopefully closing the power gap between lvl 30s and lvl 59s?

IF the later is the case..... ?? Could you please take another look at those numbers? A 40% difference in spike damage was a little alarming.

  14. That's exactly why I'm claiming it's broken.

Anyone wearing 162 gear, is gaming the broken system. The player in 198 gear, is doing what is 100% natural...they are wearing their best freaking gear to PvP in.

If you only PvP'd, what would you wear into a GF Flashpoint or Op for the 1st time? Your best PvP gear or your worst?

Don't you try an use LOGIC on bioware. That's just... uncalled for Mr.

If is DOESN'T make sense, you must acquit!!

  15. I think the shell requirement is a fair progression barrier, if you're gonna have progression. It's damn annoying we can't transfer wz comms anymore, but there's no compelling reason to change the shell system.

More important, I think, is that once you've earned tier 1 gear, you should be able to upgrade to tier 1 without backsliding (so long as there's no missed tier in between).

So when the next tier comes out after Season 5, we be allowed to trade any defunct exhumed shells (currently tier 1) as a straight upgrade (with no comm cost) to Dark Reaver gear (which will be the new tier 1).

With all the alts and small pop, it's good for the game.

Why do you need a progression barrier at all?

The first and ONLY barrier should be earning the comms needed to buy the bloody gear, which is already an insane grind (for tier 2) which is stunted by the arbitrary comm caps along the way.

The fact that more people do not play ranked doesn't surprise me in the slightest. The entrance 'fee' for playing is "Mercedes Benz", where most people can only afford a used Ford Focus.

Unless they change their gear progression model, ranked play will become less popular with each passing season. Nobody wants to invest that many hours, just to be 'able' to compete.
