  1. Quite honestly, it bothers me a great deal when I think I'm talking to a dude and it's a woman, or I think I'm talking to a woman and it's a dude. My chat with men can be sort of crass, where as if there's a woman present, I'm much more respectful in the way I talk. I feel it's poor form to make dirty jokes in the presence of a woman. Not every woman wants to be treated like a lady, but I'm going to do that by default Quite honestly, the last RL girlfriend I had I met online. Of course in the end she tore my heart out and just left a hole, but that's besides the point. You *can* meet people online, and people playing opposite genders just muddies the water, I feel. W/e you're free to do whatever you want, I just prefer to know who I'm talking to.
  2. Oh absolutely. Gear is almost a non issue to me. Heroic modes, for me, were always about the achievement and the challenge. Gear was always the least important part of the equation to me. That's not to say it was totally pointless to me either though. There's not as much sense of progression if your dps/hps doesn't escalate, and it hits a wall until you get better gear. Getting that helm I needed was never as big of a thrill as downing a new boss though. And I agree, 16 members if more manageable than 25. Still, the less people I have to carry, the more fun I'm having. My WoW guild wasn't able to down H Ragnaros in T12 and it frustrated me to no end. I was so pissed at my guildmates xD Even in 10 we were carrying far too many people and H Rag was one of those bosses where you couldn't carry anyone. The Lock was horrible and needed a brez almost every other pull, the Pally healer stood in so much fire I could barely believe it, and I was constantly beating the Arcane Mage...with the Legendary...in dps. /facepalm. We got Rag to 12% in Phase 4 (you know, after he goes back up to 50%), but couldn't quite pull it off before Dragon Soul. It's the worst feeling in the world to know *you're* capable of doing something but the people around you aren't, and there's nothing you can do about it. TL/DR, the less failure I'm surrounded by, the better I'll stick to smaller raids unless I'm sure the other 8 people can handle themselves.
  3. 26/M/Southern California, USA LF middle aged, balding creeper to chat with. Must be in the middle of your mid-life crisis or no deal.
  4. It's kinda the same in WoW. In Cata, when they made 10s and 25s drop the same ilevel gear, all but the most elite 25 man guilds moved to 10s. 25 raids have mostly died out. Getting more loot is often not worth the headache of organizing and getting 25 people to come on at the same time, much less work together. Doesn't really bother me though, I've always preferred 10s. I feel in 10s you get to know everyone really well and generally have more fun. It's a smaller group so it's a closer group and I enjoy that social aspect. I feel in 25s every member was just a face in the crowd and that took out one of the elements I need to have fun. I need the raid to be blisteringly hard, but I also need to enjoy the company. I'll leave a raid that doesn't have both competency AND community. Some people really dislike 25s (or in this sense 16s) being marginalized though, and I understand their complaints. 25s/16s ARE *usually* harder, and thus have a bit more prestige, but it's more to do with having to come up with 25/16 competent people over 10/8 competent people. My experience with 25s is more people get carried, and once you hit Heroic modes you can no longer do so and you stall.
  5. All this thread tells me is that half of the SWOTR population is made of people who couldn't cut it in WoW. There are no rational reasons for not allowing add ons. All reasons stated are just smokescreens for "I don't want to be held accountable for my performance". That's it. That's what it boils down to. If people didn't want to use add ons, they wouldn't, but this thread is saying "Don't even allow them in game" because what they're really saying is "When we wipe I don't want them to see it was my fault". To those against add ons, wanting to hide in anonymity is not only immature, it's pathetic. Spend time learning your class, practice, and then you won't have to fear the meters. It's as simple as that. Bioware, if you don't allow add ons, you will have an empty game faster than you could even imagine.
  6. Is actually an incredibly creative boss. I have to admit doing this boss for the first time today may have actually bought me some more time in SWOTR. I was not expecting something that fun. He wasn't hard, but his mechanics were fun and it looked pretty good as well. I assume his abilities will be more punishing in hard mode which I would welcome. Well done, Bioware, keep those kinds of bosses rolling.
  7. I'm sorry, what? Stark has adds? Where are they? I thought his damage was a little over the top, you telling me I killed him with adds up? I have pretty high raid awareness and I saw no adds. Is it possible I had a bug and didn't get any? We *are* talking about the boss with an interrupt able self heal and the multi-force projects? It is indeed tough to kill him with Nadia but I'm not sure you really have to. I'm kind of obsessive about storyline and how it "should" be done, so I used her anyways. Easily the hardest of the class quests imo with most of them being faceroll and him being blatantly overpowered. Maybe it was the adds...*shakes his fist*
  8. "fifty dkp minus! Who da $^ck was that?! #$$$$$$$$$c***k!!!!" ahh..thank you for bringing back such a sweet memory
  9. The romance with Nadia did indeed feel pretty rushed. More importantly she gains affection so fast that by the next time you go to your ship she may have 3-4 "quests" ready, so you just kinda blitz through them. Also, would have been nice to have these romantic discussions with her when I'm not surrounded by the cold, metallic walls of my ship. There wasn't even any music or anything, it just felt kinda forced (no pun intended). Also, I expected that after I married her she wouldn't have to hang out downstairs next to creepy Theran and would hang out in my bedroom. /shrug. Putting too much emphasis on a romantic relationship with a computer generated woman is probably unhealthy anyways
  10. Sometimes I wonder if the SWOTR community is made up of all the bad players who got kicked from their WoW guilds for sucking. "No dps/hps meters! No combat logs! I don't want to be held accountable for my performance! There's a better way, and it includes you ignoring that our most recent wipe was my fault!" This thread is pathetic. If you don't want to use add ons, you don't have to. The very argument that it makes things easier should only mean that you have less reason to use them if you don't want to. The argument defeats itself.
  11. I found Act 1 to be pretty entertaining and it's conclusion exciting. I'm at the end of Act 3 and I can tell you it's all downhill after Act 1.
  12. Lol I enjoyed that. Things like this are some of my favorite internet fare. @Cynan: lol also very funny. The dude is just so epic that he can breath in space.
  13. While I agree some parts of the game are an absolute mess and that Bioware is quite literally no better than "money hungry" blizzard for releasing an unfinished game, the OP barely even gave the game a shot. He even goes as far as to use hear-say to make arguments. The dude never tried raiding, and yet he has the nuts to critique it? He never even made it to 50. Weak arguments at best for some of his points, and the fact that he would rip on storyline and questing is absurd. So much is wrong with this game but this has the most immersive questing experience available to MMOs. Period. Some people refuse to give credit where credit is due and choose to tunnel vision the negative. Weak, OP. Weak.
  14. I actually think the OP has a valid point. Reality is we're all human, and we all make incredibly stupid human errors. No one should be punished in their game for have a bad moment and accidentally clicking the wrong thing. Should be able to sell your commendation gear back for the amount of marks you paid. I would expect this feature in the future.
  15. I actually would have been satisfied with just a better version of WoW. I enjoyed WoW. I enjoyed it for many years in fact. I left because Cata sucks hardcore, and the developers have made outrageous decision after outrageous decision in terms of gameplay and direction that literally spit on it's hardcore base. People look at WoW clones as a great evil. I see them as the mark to aim for. Do it like that, but better. This game has some truly, TRULY great things going on, and I want more than anything for this to be my new MMO home, but I don't think the combat will ever be polished enough to retain my attention. Specifically, all my pvp outings have left me very "meh". As imbalanced as WoW pvp can be, it's still the best. You have to step away from the game to realize that.
  16. Maybe I haven't played the right classes, but in 7+ years of MMOs, I've never seen or played a class as proc heavy as shadow. As infiltration, I even have 2 procs for the EXACT SAME THING. I have encircling shadows which reduces the cost of my next project and then the proc off of clairvoyant strike which increases it's damage. You'd think they'd be different but they activate at the exact same time so there's literally no reason for each to be displayed. When one runs out, so will the other. Was there really no way to combine this proc into one? That's just bad design : / I think I counted it at 5 total procs for the generally accepted pve spec (at this point). That's way way too many. This class is not fun. Like, at all. Infiltration needs an overhaul that doesn't demand that you tunnel your action bars for your next proc. I've spent far too much time on this toon already, and I'll probably never level again because of it, but for me the options are "leave the game" or "hope they change it at some point soon". I haven't really decided what I'm going to do yet, all I know is it's not fun for me.
  17. False. All the airlocks, orbital stations, and loading screens make me refuse to leave a planet until I'm absolutely finished with it. Makes me not want to help guildies because I know I'll have some insanely long trek between me and them. I understand we're on different planets, but a long term solution to all these loading screens needs to be implemented at some point. It's ok for now, but people are going to get really really tired of them a year from now.
  18. I really hope Bioware doesn't get hung up on Jedi lore to the point where all of our gear has to be white and pure. I played a rogue for 6 years so I'm used to dark cowls and sharp, pointy shoulder pieces. In fact, I even went dark side shadow with the assumption I could get darker looking gear (I obviously knew nothing about this game to start with). So far, I don't really think anyone is satisfied how gear looks, but I really hope we get some gear that screams "yeah, I'm going pop out of the shadows, murder you, then fade back into the darkness". BW went to great lengths to make WoW rogues feel somewhat comfortable in their new Jedi skin, so I hope they continue with that goal and we can get some Shadow gear that is actually shadowy. I'm kind of tired of looking like an angel : /
