  1. He ate the baby. /nod OP...I like your ideas, and they do raise some points worth considering. I think perhaps your numbers are a tad high, but I think BW would benefit as a company if they take a serious look at the advantages to being a subscriber. Many of the threads here give testament to that. And considering that they have given subscribers discounts on customization features, and also throwing some dyes into the CE vendors, i think they are coming around to the idea, and finding new ways to work it in. I'm not saying they are the video game equivalent of Mother Theresa or anything...but I think they are showing signs of comprehension
  2. I wear the battlelord set on my JK as well, and I have been considering the way I'd dye it once it was a possibility. Have a read from Dulfy's recent update...I'd like to see the conclusion you draw from it. It seems to me that the green colored plate and the orange highlights are the only things we will be able to change, and the robe itself will remain the tan color it is now. You will be able to change either of those colors independently, with the primary/secondary dyes. And there are some dye sets that will change both, but only to the colors limited in that particular dye set.
  3. Hmm, they changed him? Guess that tells you how long since I leveled my Smuggler
  4. Yup, I do the same with my marauder. Use the tanks as an extra health bar and nothing more. I like using the tanks with my melee dps classes, but not the ranged ones like Corso or Lt Pierce-they are always grapple-hooking my targets away. I sic them on the silver or gold in the pack, then I just clean up the rest, usually I can go 4-5 packs before I need to "heal" them. And I am geared in current blue mods always when levelling. And why bother to stop to heal? Rocket boost-mount/umount-or just dismiss them and then resummon them. All are quicker, they always return with a full health bar, and you can just chain pull for days. I liked using my healer companion on my tanks and with my dps commando. Especially with my shadow, I could survive just about anything with him around.
  5. I like this OP, I like your ideas about integrating it in role playing scenarios, and the loophole SGRA. I think BW could at this point still make these happen, and easily. I do find the decision to deny gender changes really shortsighted for that reason, and also I just don't get it...it will make them more money... Immersion is cool, but it's never been known to stand in the way of EA profit, and who cares if my Jedi runs around with the "flygirl" title and he's a guy. And if they cared about immersion, they would indeed be putting these in cantinas and backalleys and maybe hospitals or clinics too! And sure of course one on the fleet.
  6. I'm glad you found your *****. It was right where you left it
  7. And personally, on topic...I like the TSW approach. They had a plastic surgeon in certain cities, and you go in and get your facelift. They had barbershops, you go in and get a haircut. You could buy tokens for either with in game currency, or with their "coins" - I forget what they called them. Too bad I didn't care for many other things in TSW. There was a little cinematic intro, where the surgeon had a little rant and flashed his knives, and there were some hot nurses in miniskirts, and your vision goes black, and you wake up with a different face. Of course that game had no companions, but honestly considering that all my companions stopped talking to me when I hit 50- I honestly wouldn't expect them to have anything to say if I showed up on the ship as a Sith instead of a Chiss. BW has obviously placed further dialogue with companions pretty low on their to do list, and if they want to add to that part of the game, I'd think people would be upset if they didn't find a way to continue where they left off instead of going backwards in time.
  8. I know man, like I said I appreciate the attempts at spurring people into conversations where we can debate and imagine, it is a healthy thing for this community to engage in. I know you are a creative person who is always thinking about ways to improve this game. All these threads are full of people tearing down eachothers ideas, and it gets personal too often. I truly meant my criticism to be constructive, and I hope you can read that. But I think the ideas that get the most support from the vocal majority in these forums, and get gold posts, are the ones where there is a real chance of them doing something. Your ideas often involve some pretty extensive work, and when people tell you that, you squirrel around it and sometimes just flat out don't believe it. I'd like it if you could focus that giant brain of yours in more realistic directions, because noone can say you don't love this game. I see you trying so hard every day on these forums to engage readers and devs alike, and if you get better at it, you can make a change. Look at Eric Musco for example, he came from a blogsite in the first place, now he's the community mgr. You have to see more of the big picture, what I meant by awkwardly specific is that your focus is usually on quests stories and lore. We all get into them, to some degree, it is an RPG.... but you are usually coming from an RP focus. Most of us are just clicking the golden triangles and spacebaring by the time we hit our 3rd or 4th alt (some of us never bothered watching them at all, a shame I know.) There is much more to the game, and for a change to be effective, it needs to be comprehensive. And it needs to take in account all the different playstyles. And as far as BW are concerned it needs to be streamlined and as easy as can be. Look at the Cathar, they have been in the game all along, have no weird bits and pieces and are human like in stature. Adding them is "low hanging fruit" as it has been called. I don't begrudge them the decision, it makes sense. And it will take less time, it's taken enough already. Adding a customization kiosk is easiest and cost effective, therefore that is what they went with. Get it done, and move on to the next thing that's what they want. So as a dreamer i think you need to learn how to work in those constraints, and you have seen there is still alot that can be done, minor or major, so long as it appeals to the BW approach. Of course I have never made a successful suggestion troll, and most of my posts are long winded and stupid. So perhaps there is someone better suited to advising you. Just trying to help Machine, you seem like a smart kid, and i don't want a forum without dreamers in it
  9. Didn't you just make this thread and everyone **** all over it? Sorry, I'm in the "this game has enough quests" boat, and when I want my dude to shave, I don't want to do a quest for it. Not even once. Especially if I already have to pay out CC. And ...."What I would have liked to have seen with Cathar and Character customization" ......? What? It hasn't even happened yet. You sure like to nitpick these things, and then type a thesis paper over every little detail you disapprove of. Has a gold ever posted in one of your suggestion threads? Probably not, because they belong in the "suggestion box'. You put these in general they get flamed, you put them in the box they get ignored. Ask yourself why? I'd say it's because most of your complaints and suggestions are so awkwardly specific you come off sounding petty and trollish. I appreciate that you want to think outside the box, and your threads in general attempting to inspire and innovate.. but realize BW isn't going to invest a whole lot of time and energy (if any at all) into changing something they currently give away for free. my 2 cents P.S. that 'epic" thread you link in your sig...it's not that epic it's just a bunch of that guy's opinions
  10. I do agree with you on many points and respect your opinion, I simply wish to inform...and as someone who also watched the original trilogy in the theaters...I do want to point out that cat people have been in the star wars universe for quite a while. Togorians from Paradise Snare (1997) come to mind right off. I always thought Yuzzem were catlike, just HUGE cats, and they are from Splinter of the Mind's Eye from 1978. Hell, I'm sure at some point in the "removed from continuity" comic strips they used to put in the funnies between the films, there had to be at least one cat species in there. I'm not going through my "along time ago" series to find any though (granted it was non-continuity but my point remains) Many may question the validity of a player species drawn from the EU, like the Cathar. Many may also argue if they are suitable in a game based around a story, which started in the EU. The argument is invalid. Everything in this game is based around Star Wars events which did not happen in the movies, but in comics, books and games. It is pretzel logic. " Why would you want to play such a race if you had any feel or appreciation for the great work that designers working in the Star Wars universe have done over the years, creating some of the most unique looking and iconic species ever made in fiction? I say it is a sign of a lack of appreciation for what Star Wars is." Granted I'd rather play a Togorian or maybe they could let my body type four characters look like Noah...but I'll take what I can get. TLDR: Cat People have been in Star Wars since Thundercats, if you can't get used to it by now you never will.
  11. Perspective is a great thing and all the money in the world couldn't buy it. JR's family will (probably) not be visiting any shelters looking for canned goods in the near future. I don't imagine them having to sleep in the basement of a church at night, because no other doors are open to them. A lowly programmer buried in school debt and mortgage and bills can easily slip through the cracks. My heart goes out to those looking for work. We can take solace in the fact that at least their toil and effort will no longer benefit EA in any way. Perhaps one of these mistreated employees will go on to start a company that runs things honestly and fair, and pushes EA out of the ring. Hope is a great thing too, and all the money in the world couldn't buy it.
  12. later on, youll have more missiles, and proton torpedos as well
  13. I have one of each class, they ALL have this issue regularly, and it is not limited to one spell or another. I have noticed it happening more often when chaining instants with cast spells. And as someone else pointed out, it happens for me, most regularly with speeders.
  14. Look at the success of the cosmetic and fashion industries in our society...OF COURSE people are willing to pay real money to look the way they want. If that's to broad a concept, just look at the success of adaptive armors available for RL $$$$$ in the CM right now. And yes, I happen to think that if my JK went into the storyline as a level 1 body type 1, he would finish chapter 3 at body type 3. Running across the galaxy killing THOUSANDS of different people and creatures is at least as intense as P90X or Insanity workouts.
  15. I agree, ever since my first ride I have thought the turbine should be moving. However it seems to me, that in a galaxy possessing anti-grav powered engines of all shapes and sizes, a turbine powered tram seemed a little out of place anyhow. Something about a giant jet engine strapped to rails just seems like it has the potential for disaster...... or maybe i didn't like them because they remind me of the space missions.
  16. Yeah I remember in WOTLK when there were Mammoths everywhere, perched on rooftops and wooden barrels and fountain tops ... People may have complained about immersion, but very few bothered. I loved my first mammoth no matter how silly it was. Of course nothing beat flying mounts
  17. I think this is why they have yet to say they are planning to put any animal mounts in the game. Only time they even mentioned anything like that was the Hutt mount for April Fools. Animal mounts do make sense in the cases you mention MachineElf, but your "solution" to the problem is dependent on changing many of the hardwired processes in the game. Which I think, not gonna hunt for a link, that the idea of day night cycles and weather patterns have been things they said they had no intention of implementing, or at the least have never stated they would be. Their logic has been that animal mounts are not a Star-Warsy sort of item. But if they do put them in, they certainly aren't going to put environmental effects in there just to make the animal mounts seem logical. If they put them in it will be as cheap and easy as possible. And also in regard to mount speed, I thought someone did the math, 110% speed is like 45 mph. Some thoroughbred horses can get 45-55 mph for short distances. It's not a stretch to imagine that another species that evolved on a planet with different environmental factors (wind speeds, gravity strength, terrain etc etc) could easily match a Earth Horse's speed. So quibbling over how it would be weird for an animal mount to keep up with a vehicle is kinda irrelevant. I think the real argument to make is that the speeders don't go fast enough, but that is part of that suspension of belief we all already take on without dwelling on. I think we would be inclined to overlook a tauntaun keeping up with a Dressler too, so long as it "looked" realistic enough.
  18. I agree, i understand credit sinks, and I know it's part of the game. Back when I had to drop a couple million to "change my look" I did it very infrequently if at all. Now it is much cheaper, but there is a plethora of adaptive armor from the CM, and we are encouraged to change our look more regularly. They make real money for it now! Honestly when ever I log into Tera, GW2, Lotro or even DCUO and i just switch things up on the appearance tab for FREE I get a little pissed they run this ship the way they do. Don't feel too bad, you only got one page worth of flames over your post. Could be worse. Try using a less attention grabbing header next time, and include content in it as opposed to just your shock and awe. People would probably be more engaging that way.
  19. I've been playing since launch, and have been reading about ability delays ever since. Fortunately for me, I've never had any problems with gcd or ability delay. There were literally MILES of threads on these forums about it from others though. But supposedly they fixed it, and all was good in the world. Then they go and make changes to alacrity and push out the "expansion" and now I have ability delay. It is awful, and hopefully it's just a simple fix that doesn't take a year this time around. There is a sporadic 3-5 second delay in ability activation, and it would make PvP unbearable, so I'll stick to the PVE grind for now.
  20. Check out the Phantom chestpiece -adaptive armor from Cartel Packs. Usually a few on the GTN not too much $$$ either.
  21. Hey Falornorian, Just a few points- System Process is totally correct. I think every class has a few "bosses" in the questline that require you to interrupt a spell. Usually if you don't do that you will die no matter how much you spent on gear. Maybe you can live through one or two of these spells, but it is sooooo much easier if you interrupt them. Look under combat tab of discussion to see whats hitting you hardest during those fights, it''s prolly be the interuptable spell. Deleting characters is understandable, frustration is overwhelming, and you just want to start over. However this is a game of alts, nearly everyone has multiple characters at lvl 50-55. You learn more about the game as a whole, in a broader sense, by playing different roles and classes. No harm in putting your vanguard or juggy on the shelf, and coming back to them later when you understand the game better. You should really consider finding a guild, and also one that regularly uses vent or mumble or something. Being able to discuss things like game mechanics, and rotations and what to do here and there, it is just easier if you talk about it as opposed to type about it. Plus making friends makes it all so much more enjoyable. I was sorry to hear that you have seen rude people, but the people in this thread are right. Whether they are rude or not. If you can't solo through class quests, you are missing something very important about how to play the class, and will never how to play that class as a part of a group. I hope you stick around, seems like you genuinely want to get good at it, now you just need to figure out how to get good at it. Not enough people in that boat. Hope this helps!
  22. I foresee the "Unsubscriber's thread" being very active in the near future.
  23. Yeah this is it here. Even when some of us were complete and total noobs...we would have known this was not within the definition of "teamwork" 0-50 ...never got a helmet?!?! Prolly just someone who leveled to 50 in Ilum, just along for the ride, trying to get some purples.
  24. I saw the same joke years ago in that "other mmo" with Murlocs. Probably the same people telling this tired joke now.
