Now this is not going to be a negative post for the most part. Here goes.
My measly 14$ a month obviously is irrelevant to a multi million dollar gaming company. However, losing my sub means that your also losing every other one of your gamer's who are in my boat as well.
I have played since beta, I really have enjoyed my time playing this game. I've had nothing but positive thinking with this game since it's release. I started with over 15 real life friends who all enjoyed playing it up until recently as much as I have. Currently there are 3 of us left excluding myself. 9 of those 12 left un-subbed within the last 2 weeks. As a group who is mainly interested in PvP, obviously 1.2 was a gigantic slap in the face. Another warzone with little creativity and another gear grind is all that was presented. Sadly, it isn't even as if we WANT to leave, it's like boredom has forced us to. Servers are also a huge issue right now. This is killing off more of the community then might be let on. Some servers seem fine, however one's like ours where there is no warzone matches after 1:00am server time. Not that que's are slow, it's that the server can't field 16 players to form a match. 16 players...This is so poorly handled on the developer's end it boggles my mind.
Bioware has a beautiful, smooth, in my opinion well balanced, enjoyable game that they seemed to have just dropped the ball with. Some of my friends were even avid SWG players, fan boys the likes of which you would think would hold on and never unsub, and yet they have given up.
Stricly from a PvP players perspective:
We are now over 4 months post release, and we still can't even enter a warzone with an 8 man team. I mean really... we STILL can't figure out how to que 8 players at the same time? What is the point of trying to put together a competitive team of players if we know 50% of our team will be random every time we enter a match. If the desire is for pvp to be ultra casual, well than swtor has it nailed on the head right now. However even the non elitist pvp'er who likes competitive play would still like to be able to play with a full pre made group.
And at a time you would think Bioware would kick their development into over drive and feel some sense of urgency. Guild Wars 2 and Diablo 3 are right around the corner and WILL take a large portion of this community. Avid Fan boys can protest, but as someone who does enjoy this game and is leaving for those games, I can assure you there will be a flood of players doing the same. I love the game, but it is sadly time to move on to a developer that is going to give many players something more enjoyable than a carrot on a stick gear farm. Thank you for the good times, I hope the game starts to take steps in the right direction in the future. Flame on~
