  1. Setting some computer files to compatibility mode? I don't know what that means. I'm normally a mac user. Don't even know where to find such files, let alone what to do with them. I jut need SWTOR to run after I've uploaded 7.2.1a. EA, SWTOR... iF YOU CAN'T ALLOW THE START PAGE TO BEGIN WHEN I PRESS PLAY, i'LL HAVE TO STOP SUBSCRIBING.
  2. ...so why am I paying for this? I cna't even find out where to start a ticket on this. The only way I know to start a ticket is in-gme, and I can't get there.
  3. SWTOR won't start. I log in. The Start page downloaded 7.2.1a. But when I press Play, the "play' goes dim, but nothing happens. Successive pressing of Play brightens it, pressing again darkens it...but no starting. I haven't been able to play for a week, now. On fixing it, I'm NO programmer. If people tell me to do things with files and codes, I won't know what you're talking about. In the years I've played SWTOR, uploads come, but after they're done, I can still play. But not this time. Ideas?
  4. Hello. I've played SWTOR off and on for years. I'm now back after a hiatus, and I bought a new computer. I loaded the setup and launcher. But when I run the launcher, usually nothing happens, sometimes I can log in to SWTOR.com account (as I did this time)...but when I click PLAY, it only shows me introduction videos. I cannot get the game to download its files onto my computer, cannot see my characters, cannot play. I'm a subscriber. It's a good computer. But I can't get PLAY to actually play. Ideas?
  5. After discussing the matter off and on with SWTOR for several months, posting concerns on Forum, etc., I've just canceled my subscription and moved to FREE TO PLAY. I can only play occasionally due to RL demands, so I can't schedule with guilds, do progressive raiding... My interest became doing queue for UCs, playing with my armor and my toon's appearance, etc. But they gutted my play with 3+, and I couldn't get it back. Customer service said to post my concerns on forum, but doing so earned me trolls who told me repeatedly to change my RL so I could schedule with guilds better---which was not helpful. Subscription payers support the game, but I cannot see why I should put money into standing around on fleet most of the time. I prefer DPS, but SWTOR allows few DPS slots for queue to pop, leaves me standing around on fleet way too much.
  6. That is unkind. I m casual/intermittent because I am busy, most of the time. It bothers you that I am only here sometimes? you don't have to read the posts waiting for me to return. At 3+, they gutted my ability to play now and then and actually earn some UCs. At 4.0, will it stil be so hard to earn UCs? Because that's what Im' here for. That's what I've been trying to find out. The subject is reasonable. It is not onerous to ask. It's what I pay for. And casual subs float the game. What I don't want to do is stand on fleet waiting for hours and then only earn a pittance or ZERO UCs. Telling me to play differently? Telling me to play like someone else enjoys? I'm seeing mature response.
  7. This is so wrong on so many levels. Casuals (like me) make the game possible. We pay the lion's share of the premiums that keep the game running. You cannot ask me to play the way you prefer so I will enjoy it. That statement puts casuals down, just another problem with SWTOR. I can only play intermittently, but I pay all the time. The game was gutted for me at 3+. I've explained many times. Customer service is NON EXISTANT I have to log on TWICE every effing time I log on. Every time, because it does not recognize the computer I'm using---even though it's the SAME computer. Not enough slots for DPS in GF, so stand around on fleet all the time waiting. all kinds of reasons. Customer service---can't even reach them. I got someon eon phone once, who told me to report here, but there is no response from them. No info on improvemejnts. PITTIFUL.
  8. I have been looking at leaving SWTOR for the last 8 months or so. They gutted the game with 3+, for me. I am only able to get on here occasionally, and what I enjoyed was seeking UC, which they made difficult to do. (Please, no one tell me that I'd enjoy SWTOR if I played the game like they do.) It's not worth it for me to play if I don't earn UCs. Not worth it for me to pay money to stand around on fleet because DPS isn't slotted enough for queue. I find the game boring, if I'm not doing above. Will 4+ change that? I doubt it. If it will allow me to realistically earn UCs (and I don't just mean a pittance per week), then I may stay. Otherwise, I'm gone.
  9. I'm a casual player. 3+ took the UCs out of it for me in SM, wjhich was all I enjoyed. I haven't played in months. I was going to quit. What does 4.0 do for us?
  10. Thank you, Island Jedi. I agree. I am a casual player. I have not played in months because 3+ killed the game for me. Regardless of what others want to do, regardless of how "bad" UCs are, all I cared to do was log on sometimes and do SMs for UCs and they killed it. And I'm DPS. I find there is little for DPS to do I the game. I called on the phone. They said they didn't care to hear it there, go to forum. I posted here, and progression players griped. I said that Most players are SM and we support the game, but prog players said toleave. I left. I'm thinking I'll quit. Why whould I pay for a game that I don't play?
  11. Read inserts above. REMEMBER: I called, and they said to post here, so I did. I am one of the recreational players---the 80% who pay subscriptions who keep the game afloat for snobs who put us down. (Kids!) I work hard, and I play when I can. I pay a subscription. I prefer to chaswe UCs. If I wanted to play like others, I could quit my work and you all could pay my subscription. My fee for playing lke you want is $300 an hour. (Being as ridiculous as you.) HOWEVER YOU TAKE IT, THE GAME IS A BUSINESS, and my business has seriously fallen off. I Rarely play any more, because I can't get the product I prefer. That's over the head of people who think this play is life. it's just recreation.
  12. Hi. I'm not trolling. I'm a Founder. I care about the game. I've called them on the phone, and they said to post this concern here, as they mine it for ideas. I'm doing what they said was right. My thinking is that if most people want to play dps, and this is a subscription-for-fun game, then it would encourage people to play if they made more dps slots in GF. And even if Set Bonus gear is better than Ultimate Com gear, I prefer to work with the UCs. We all play the game our own way. It's what I pay for.
  13. I always get asked for the one-time password EVERY TIME I log on, for a LONG TIME now. I've called them on the phone to complain, but it still happens. No one has ever used my account... No history of compromises. They're just doing it against my will.
  14. Looking at responses, I should clarify for those of you who don't read entire posts: I don't join a raiding guild because my RL is busy, my play is not at a schedule. I can sometimes join them, but usually not. So over the long run, I cannot be there when they plan to raid. So I enter GF. That's what it's supposed to be there for. SWTOR has numerous DPS in same boat, who can't get GF to pop for them. SOLUTION: Re-design some that allow greater PERCENTAGE of DPS, so we can also get into ops like Tanks and Heals. Hence my post. (I called on the phone, and HERE is where THEY TOLD ME to post this. They said it was the appropriate place for my comments.)
  15. Exactly. Thanks. I used to play daily, and since the beginning of SWTOR. I have a busy RL, and I can't play at regular times---so meeting up with people does not work over the long run---but when I could get on, daily, I'd enjoy doing high level ops to earn UCs to build my character. I have attractive, rather expensive armor, all augmented to the highest level, most armorings/mods...at 198, some at 192. But I have been a month trying to earn another 198 piece (per UCs). Building my toon with UCs is the part of the game I enjoyed; that is why I've subbed; that is what has been diminished. Yes, I could play tanks or heals (and I have) but why should I? I dont' enjoy those roles, and this is for entertainment. Since 3.+, I've really not been able to. It's chronically so that most people enjoy DPS roles, and there aren't enough role slots in GF to allow them to earn UCs very well. It's painfully slow, since Patch 3.+. RESULT: I now log on much less often, and after a few things find myself standin garound on fleet doing nothing, waitng for GF to pop, which doesn't pop. So why am I there? I log off. SWTOR is a BUSINESS. It exists for entertainment purposes, for money, for profit. It is not here primarily to stealth locate Enders (Orson Scott Card) who may champion some life-saving adventure that is game-oriented. It's to be for fun. So, like any good customer who cares about the company and what I used to get for my money, I complain in the vain hopes that anyone in charge may care. Though I fear they do not.
  16. I'm a Founder. I've been here since the beginning. I've played all roles. I used to do Ops and FPs every day, to earn Ultimate Coms, to grow my characters. (Please no one try to convince me to play the way they want, per set bonuses. I prefer Ultimates. That's why I sub.) Like most players, I prefer to be DPS. I can not get on at the same time every day owing to RL, so I cannot schedule with guilds to raid with them. I have to PUG and GF. Yet, after Patch 3..., they made Rav and Tos so difficult that most PUGs can't do them, and I've been known to wait, literally, hours for GF to pop for me, and there are very few UCs that can be earned with FPs, so... Play has become an effort of frustration, with me usually standing around on Fleet doing nothing. (I need to stay on fleet to look for PUGs.) Now, sometimes, even when I'm in town and could otherwise play, I just don't. Because it's an effort in futility. I'm a player who used to enjoy playing most days to build my toon, but I can no longer build my toon, hardly. It's been weeks, and I haven't been able to add anew piece of UC armor. SOLUTIONS: I THINK (1) There should be more DPS slots in GF that can result realistically in UCs. Please don't tell me to play a tank or heals. Like most people, I prefer DPS, and I'm asking EV to provide those slots, somewhere. SWTOR is a business, and I'm just a customer. (2) TOS and RAV should be scaled back enough so that pugs can do them 16m, to earn UCs. Otherwise, there is no point to me, if I can't build my toons.
  17. I think part of the value of diversity in play is that people can approach the game differently. Like as if in a restaurant: We don't all have to like the same foods; we can order different kinds of things. I think this promotes the business, bringing in more customers, and in SWTOR, if we can play it differently, as we wish, then we're happy subscribers... for me.......... I can't even schedule a time to be here to run raids. My play is intermittent because of RL. It's most days, but different times a lot, and then there are sometimes weeks where I don't get on at all. So I wind up pugging, which is hard because I'm DPS, also, the rrole I seem to prefer.. And that's normally fine, until 3.0.2... They gutted the game. Made ULTIMATE COM acquisitions harder, more rare, and even more for the more successful gamers---which is almost ridiculous as they prefer Set gear. I do think they should make it eassierr to get UCs again, and also develop a DPS Operation to put in, for Ultimate Coms, so we dps aren't standing around on Fleet twiddling our electrons for hours waiting on GF to pop.
  18. I think that's the beauty of diversity in the game. We do not all have to play it the same way. We can go to this business (SWTOR) and each approach it from different directions. Yea! You get to play it for what you want of it, and others can play it how they like... That makes for more sssubscrribers.
  19. Well, I can see how this is going. (I'm the O.P.) I'm one of the more experienced players with SWTOR. I've been here since the beginning. Yet, because of the way the game is limited, I find I'm one of the majority of players who are cut out of much of the game for long stretches of time because I prefer DPS, and a fewer percentage of DPS are allowed into Ops than are preferred in play by us gamers. Net result: This customer stands on Fleet, looking for something to do, when what I want to do is earn UCs. SWTOR told me by email that they wouldn't discuss this in-game. They told me on the phone that I should post my concern here. Evidently, it's for player discourse (not helpful), because while SWTOR is supposed to mine this for info, I think it's to deflect my concern, rather than to listen. BTW, it's not helpful when someone else says I should like this product or leave it. I've got a LOT invested in this game, and it is appropriate, even per SWTOR's ssuggestion, to voice my concerns here. It is not appropriate to just leave because I don't like this. Per their suggestion, I'm trying to lobby, here, for (1) some way to actually earn UCs that don't involve doing nothing for hours at a time (or doing stuff that doesn't/can't earn UCs), and please don't tell me that you prefer other armor that's better. These are the ones I want and why I ssubscribe, and (2) a Operation that can net me UCs, that does not require tanks or heals (for us larger-than-provided-for DPSs who stand around on Fleet). EA has the details. They know that, routinely, customers prefer to be DPS, but they limit the percentage that can be included in Ops, PVE. EA: Are you there?
  20. Hi all. I'm the Original Poster for this thread. The problem is, as a result of all things, I'm sitting in my chair, standing on fleet (with the toon), doing nothing: reading Gen Chat to see how much interest there may be in a pug op, sitting in GF which doesn't pop for hours. SWTOR is designed for trinity play, but it doesn't have to be, or not all of it. SWTOR isn't some situation in RL that we're subject to, that we have to put up with if we don't like it. It's a game for fun, a product a company produces to entertain and to make money. We customers/gamers subscribe to play. I've had tanks and heals. This toon I'm talking about here (founder, half 198s/half 192s), was heals for a long time, but I was just doing the heals for a guild that wanted it of me, and, truly, I prefer the dps role. I wasn't enjoying myself, so I switched her (gear and all), and she's been dps for a long time. I know the other roles, but I don't prefer them. Why should I do them just so I can raid with them? Do something I don't like so I can do something I don't like? The reason I don't HM or NIM is because, over these years, I've never found a guild I enjoyed. (I am in a small guild, now, which is good, though can't do raids, itself as too small.) While there are certainly a lot of good people who play, there are enough other things that go on that I simply don't enjoy and don't want to pay for. I'm in the game for distraction, after RL, and for enjoyment. I have left guilds for a varieity of reasons: I don't like some people using "***" as a pejorative to slam people; I don't care for some people to make references to drugs; I am not going to go off-game to fill out an application (ridiculous, because I could lie) or to join a website; my voice is recognizable, so I don't prefer to use TS/Vent, and I also don't like the comments and assumptions some players express in raids when I listen and don't use a mike. Put it all together, and, while everyone thinks their guild is good, I have found I do not enjoy the larger ones, preferring the small one I finally settled into. So I'm standing on Fleet. Sometimes I form an Operation, sometimes I join another -- but these are pugs, and they rarely succeed at Rav or Tos. Whatever factors involved, they usually don't, and I'm left wasting my time, as I don't enjoy that process. Pugs can't do HM or NIM. They usually can't even do SM. So I seek Ultimate Coms, for the best gear I am likely to reasonably get. If I collect enough 192/set gear, fine. I may stack them in a corner until I have enough to matter. Regardless, I am a player with an active RL. I enter the game for distraction and enjoyment, and I'm very good at what I do in it. I can make Kwai Chang Kane look like a newbie with this toon. I usu know where to stand, what to shoot at, when to switch --- rock and roll. Yet the reason I'm not finding raids much is because there are a much larger percentage of DPS in the game than percentages allowed in Operations. The 2/4/10 trinity ratio, however improved, does not include most DPS, which is why we're sitting on Fleet for hours waiting for GF (important because of the extra Ultimate Coms that come from its use) or forming or getting into ssome pug on Fleet which disintegrates after a couple bosses because most people have even more to do in RL than I do and don't play that often. Yes, SWTOR IS DESIGNED for trinity play, but it doesn't have to be. It's as simple as forming a new Op that allows for DPS role. It's a product a company sells for money. In this case millions. If a company makes cars, and only makes SUVs and Limousines, but people walk in the door wanting a sports car, should it be asserted the customer should changes his taste? It can actually be good business for the company to listen to customer desires and begin producing a sports car also. Because the way it is, now, my interest in SWTOR is waning, and I don't think that is desired. I think, instead, that SWTOR has listened to some of its most highly skilled gamers and chosen to go that way, not listening to the majority of us who play who want to do something we consider fun, also. I'm one of those. I'm highly skilled in my role, as DPS on this toon. But I'm limited to SM by the distribution of roles preferred by other/mass gamers in SWTOR, the nature of PUGs, and the Ops that are provided. UCs have become very hard to get. If UC gear is not as good as highest set gear, then you need never fear I will be as good as you. But as a subscriber, I do want to progress my toon, and if I can't do that, without standing on Fleet for hours, etc., then I ask myself, why am I here? I could go to another car company and see what they have to sell.
  21. Since 3.0.2., ultimate coms have been made too difficult to get, and GF doesn't work well for DPS. (Please read on for SUGGESSTIONS.) For me, the thing I log on to do is gear my toons. I'm just an independent player. I'm in a small guild, which I like, as I do not prefer the larger ones I've been in. So to do raids, to get Ultimate Coms, I have to join or form a PUG. I am on daily. I'm a Founder, and 60, about half 198s, half 192s (most earned before 3.0.2.). Yet, since 3.0.2., I have found that I'm only able to earn about 10 UCs a week. Only once has any PUG I've been in been able to finish RAV (they get hung up on Boss #2), and none have made it past the first 2 bosses in TOS. I'm sure that some PUGs have been more successful, but unless someone brings in people he knows can do it, I know from being there, that it's rare that PUGs actually make it all the way through. AS WELL... I am DPS. So when I queue in Group Finder, it rarely pops. Sometimes I've stat there for 3 hours, in front of my TV (plays there as monitor), doing other things, waiting for the GF to pop. Everyone knows why. It's because Ops are structured for a certain tank/heals/DPS ratio, and there are relatively few TANKS and HEALS, compared to DPS needed for Ops. Sooooo..... SOLUTION SUGGESTION (1) While I realize there is value in having some Ops that almost no one can do, so best players can be challenged, other players, like myself, are basically finding it not working to try to just enjoy gearing a toon. It's about providing a service as a business that people are willing to pay for, and me, sitting on Fleet for hours waiting for GF to pop does nothing for me. (Also, doing Weeklies orr other things that give Elites do nothing for me, as my gearing is above that.) (2) Both RAV and TOS, which provide some UCs, require Tanks and Heals do so, but most subscribers prefer to be DPS, meaning most of the time, DPS CAN'T GET INTO GF RAIDS. What about providing another Operation in SWTOR, of the same level as RAV and TOS, which would be structured to do only by DPS roles, so we can at least DO SOMETHING instead of stand there and wait. Let us earn some Ultimate Coms from it. It's easy to do, a matter of structuring parameters for the raid. Let us have 8 and/or 16m raids, SM and HM, that could be done without Tanks and Heals, so we can get into GF. One view on this, I've heard, is likeunto, "If you want to get a raid via GF, then become a tank or heals." But that kind of misses the point, doesn't it? Because it's not about paying to do something you don't want to do. Most people who pay money to play SWTOR prefer to be DPS, so why not let us do some raids that allow a higher percentage of DPS, if not all? Is even just ONE too much to ask? To get UCs via GF? Thank you
  22. Can anyone tell me how to improve Tharan Cedrax' armor/stats? I'm lvl 50. I've been able now and then to give Nadia Grell my hand-me-downs, improving her armor. she's now wearing Columi armor. But I find I prefer the work of Tharan. I do better with him overall. But his armor is fairly out of the box, averaage level of cunnning something like between 60 to 94 or so. I'd love to improve Tharan's armor, but I don't know how. I've attempted to buy better on the Galactic terminal, but He already seems to have the best. I casn't give him my hand-me-downs as I use Willpower, and he uses Cunning. I haven't seen drops for him in Ops. Ideas? Thank you
