  1. Why would you post in an opinion thread, with your opinion about the OP's opinion?

I hope you see the pointlessness of it, and in turn the irony of the overall situation.

    LOL.

Also, no thread is pointless simply because it contains information you may not be interested in (this directed at the second poster, not the OP).

I love my slinger as well. I will admit I get frustrated having no long-term huminoid CC though.

  2. News Alert: People want to feel important.

Raiding has changed into an environment where each player does matter. And *most* of the population likes this.

How do I know that? Because video game companies are just that, companies. They are out to make money (not in some evil way, just in the way that they want to make a profit as any company would), and as such they will build that which brings them the largest player base.

I truly am sorry that this game doesn't hold that experience for you, but the trend is the trend, and you are in the minority.

  3. Didn't ignore it at all. I read what he said, and decided to post what I would do, because it complimented the class, and the rest of the pieces in the set.

The Columi Enforcer's Package is, to me, the more logical of any of the implants you can get for a Gunslinger's PVE set.

If he really wants the Rakata piece, then he needs to ask himself. What's more important, how often you crit, or how hard you crit?

So is it your position that columi gear is better than rakata in this case? That sounds like the point you are making.

Oh and heres the piece I am talking about.. enforcer with power surge:

    http://www.torhead.com/item/cHQGmLY/rakata-enforcers-package

  4. No, the Columi Enforcer's Package is acc/crit. Really depends on what you want more: Do you want the extra 20 or so cunning from the Rakata package w/ power and surge? Do you want accuracy and crit over the additional cunning w/ power and surge?

It's a power trade more than anything. I'd probably just get it for the extra cunning, after I know I can hit over 105% accuracy.

No, you are wrong. I am looking at them in game right now.

You are thinking of the EARPIECE.

We are talking implants here. I am staring at them in game, on the vendor. My stats in my OP are correct.

  5. I'd stick with the Columi Enforcers stuff. As a gunslinger, what's most important is the Accuracy for the armor pen. While crit and power are important, the damage pen will assist both.

    The Columi Enforcer's package are 93 endurance, 80 cunning, 48 accuracy/crit.

I was actually going to do the same thing with my PVP implants, because they had accuracy, while the Battlemaster implants didn't. All depends on how you want to be laid out though, I guess. For a PvE set, I'd personally like to have over 105% accuracy, if it can be helped.

Accuracy is very important for this class.

I agree with some of your points - the problem is that the enforcer's package is not crit/acc - its just as I posted above.. power surge.

  6. 10% off each point, but you forget about the soft cap. Battlemaster gunslingers on all servers are losing as much as 50% damage, reminding people how underpowered we actually are.

We stacked surge to get COMPARABLE damage to other classes. Now? We have significantly less.

Now our class just isn't viable anymore.

If you were stacking super large amounts of surge, than you are exactly who the nerf was intended for.

I won't say we don't have issues in PvP, and I am certainly not a battlemaster (rank 33, full champ set) - but to say that a 10% surge nerf makes us completely not viable...

By the way, I am using 10% here as an estimate. I am basing that off of several guild mates who, for PvE reasons, were stacking Surge and after the nerf lost about 10% *overall* surge.

  7. So you're implying that surge nerf blammed my critical hit bonuses so hard that I am now useful like a clown attending a funeral parlor?

    That's quite sad :(

If this is what he is implying, he is wrong. The surge nerf would have taken off about 10% of your surge. That is really not that much.

  8. Hello All,

Our guild is working on hard modes (4/5 EV HM at the moment). For reference, I am in full Columi with a Rakata piece here or there.

This morning I reached 120 daily commendations for the second time and headed to the vendor to pick up my first Rakata implant. However, here is what I noticed:

We have two choices with cunning:

    Rakata Enforcer's Package

    +85 Cunning

    +98 Endurance

    +51 Power

    +51 Surge Rating

    Or

    Rakata Field Medic's System

    +103 Cunning

    +85 Endurance

    +44 Critical Rating

    +51 Surge Rating

    -----

Now, logic would suggest that the Enforcer piece is for DPS specs, and the Field Medic's piece is for healing. However, when examined closer:

They both have 51 surge, so lets remove that. Endurance should not be a consideration for DPS or healers in PvE, so lets remove that. This leaves us with this comparison:

    Rakata Enforcer's Package

    +85 Cunning

    +51 Power

    Or

    Rakata Field Medic's System

    +103 Cunning

    +44 Critical Rating

Now, considering that Crit and Power are both acceptable DPS gain stats, is it really worth losing 18 cunning to get power over crit? Or should I be rocking the Medic implants on my dps set?

  9. We leave it on whatever default is called (i guess round robin?) and have someone who has auto loot turned off, and only that someone, loot the boss/chest, and right click each item one by one at whatever pace you desire.

This allows you time to announce multiple tier pieces, see who wins the first so they can pass the next etc. It has worked fine with no issues, except when someone with autoloot on decides to loot the boss half way through, and cause everything to go up for rolls :(

It should be mentioned that this only works on Hard and Nightmare. If it is on round robin in normal mode, the loot will be pre-assigned regardless of loot settings. (obviously except crafting materials, etc).

  10. LoS always works against missile barrage, even if he's enraged. The downside being that if he's enraged, the missiles will be killing people near instantly, and he never stands back up. If that happens, you can just sit behind the turret and exit area if you're afraid of a death.

This raises an interesting question. If at that point, you were to all stack behind the pillers, and jump out just to dot and get back behind.. could you kill him 45 minutes later?

  11. <--said I'm stuck at a wall at lvl 43, never insulting anyone but myself and my inability to play as I have been the last 43 levels. Frustration. I'll try Guss out again tonight, been using Akaavi mostly since I got her.

Guss is definitely the way to go. Make sure he is in healing stance.

As others have mentioned, gear is also an issue. Try and keep it up to date with commendations.

Also, what kind of rotation/priority do you use? For example:

    1) One Strong Mob, One Standard Mob

Have Guss attack strong mob (I bind this to my mouse) and he'll use his short term shock beam CC thing. Kill standard, kill strong.

    2) Three Standard Mobs

AoE mixed in with single target. Throw grenade on CD and used standard single target abilities to focus each one down.

    3) Areas with robots = awesome - our CC rocks.

A word on cover: Portable cover and real cover are different. Always try and use real cover. You don't have to "roll" into it, you can just drop down into cover behind something.

If there is a green shield above the enemy's head, you are in full cover from them. There are level 50 heroics that I solo with ease on a daily basis due to how strong cover is with ranged mobs.

  12. With Guss PVE should be easy mode. If not, then I suggest you have gear issues. GS are terrible in PVP but they should present no major issues in PVE. If oyu ever plan to PVP, stop your GS now and do yourself a favor and switch classes.

This is a tad harsh I would say. I do think there are improvements to be made to our PvP, but I quite enjoy it on my slinger. (For reference, I am 50, Valor 31, Nearly full champ gear/ a few centurion pieces)

When I go 1v1 with several classes, I come out on top. Against mediocre melee I can walk away unscathed. (Pulse detonator, Aimed Shot knockback, legshot, etc).

It's also important to remember we are in a non-arena PvP environment. This means that single combat or 2v2 is less meaningful. Playing a gunslinger is about not being seen. In Alderan if I can get in the rafters at mid and not be noticed I will absolutely destroy people.

Again, improvements? Yes. Totally broken? No.

  13. Hey All -

Our guild is moving on to hard-modes, im in 5/5 columi, and I just recently switched to biochem for some obvious reasons.

Im now 400 - but when looking over the re-usable adrenals im having trouble deciding.

+ power vs + crit vs + accuracy.

Im at 100% acc but I know there is some bonus after the fact for lower defenses.

My first reaction is + power. Thoughts?

  14. Yea if you having trouble with loot in Normal mode you are pretty well screwed. BW has instituted a "Anti-Loot Ninja" system. Which is actually a really good thing in my opinion.

The problem is it doesn't work. When our guild was still doing normals we saw a healing Relic (Proc to heal additionally upon another heal) go to a DPS, Teir (columi) Legs go to people who already had them when their were 3 other people in Orange mod gear/Tionese gear, Tanking trinket (Shield proc on hit) go to a Caster, and a whole host of other issues.

At this point if you are in normal mode Ops all I can tell you is:

    1. Pray
    2. Do HM Flashpoints in hopes of the proper tier token dropping
    3. Pray more
    4. Move into HM Ops.
    5. Pray to satan

Lol! I'll take the suggestions under advisement. We have had the same issues .. lots of people getting duplicate gear. My companion Guss is happy though... such a shame.

  15. Hey all -

Just got our first normal kill of him last night, and wanted some thoughts about how we could make it a bit smoother.

Our standard group has only 1 ranged dps (me). Because of that, we went with just me solving, one healer on the middle platform to reach me and the group, and everyone else down with boss.

It took us 6 rocket fires (R-M-L-R-M-L). We're coming pretty close to the enrage timer. Is this is the best strategy because of our lack of ranged dps? Or should we be solving WAY faster and using just our single highest dps down on the ground?

  16. Here is how our guild does it.

We do not use Master Loot Because yes It is broken and we aren't willing to test it every week to see if it is fixed.

A few things need to happen for this to work.

    1. Keep the loot system on Round Robin.
    2. The Masterlooter must make sure their Area Loot AND Auto loot is turned OFF.
    3. No one must loot the boss PERIOD!
    4. Only the person designated as the ML for the raid loots the boss.
    5. The master looter assigns the loot via Vent/teamspeak/etc.
    6. The master looter clicks on the item to be assigned in his/her loot window.
    7. Everyone in the raid EXCEPT the person getting the loot passes on the item.
    8. The person who the item is assigned to selects NEED.
    9. Repeat for all items.
    10. Once all the loot is gone only the commendations will remain.
    11. Have everyone in the raid loot the boss to get their commendations.

Using this method you will get all the drops from the boss and you should be getting and you still have a way of Masterlooting it out. If your raid can't wait 5 minutes before clicking on the boss there are more problems than boss looting.

Thank you very much for explaining this. Going to try and see if I can convince the guild to go with this. We have no loot drama - but are tired of duplicate loot going to people when others need it.

  17. hello

Can we stop saying go back to wow? or SWTOR copies wow and that is why it fails?

SWTOR is a unique MMO for me. A lot of times it's not about reinventing the wheel. It's about making improvement upon the previous invention and taking it to the next level. Turning the wheel -> cart -> bicycle -> scooter -> car -> truck. Wow is Myspace and SWTOR can be the new facebook. You get what I'm saying. SWTOR needed to learn from WOW mistakes and improve upon it/take it to the next level. We often hate on things are popular. WOW was unique for it's time and it has its flawed. SWTOR offered a few new stuff for mmos for me ( storyline focused, companions, weird crew skill mechanics, medals in warzone ) but in the end it didn't matter because it isn't balanced to matter YET.

WoW is the industry dominator. SWTOR is positioning itself to be the prime competitor for millions of consumers. Based upon that, you WILL have comparisons, and for valid reasons.

The two games are competitors. They have differences, they have similarities.
