I read the patch notes that said the TaunTaun can now be unlocked in your collection. However, I just double checked and the character that originally bought and equipped the Ashfall mount still does not show it in their collection. Hence, I certainly cannot unlock for any of my other characters either.

I have the same issue. Bought the tauntaun on GTN and equipped it. It does not show up in that characters collection or any of my others. All other Cartel items I have equipped were available immediately. I bug reported it and I am still waiting for a reply.
