  1. Why the hell is it down at 6:33PM EST? More to the point, it's been down an hour... *** EA? Hire a nerd or two...
  2. I doubt seriously that's the case. Out of 5 games I play, swtor is the only one with the issue. Add to that the weird polygon issues, other odd bugs that plague the game, the crappy hero engine that's still to this day 32bit, and the fact I have friends on Radeon that can't run the game more than a few minutes before a lock up... I'd say the hero engine is at it's end of life.
  3. Hey Bioware, your **** is broken and crashing systems. How about you release a press announcement on the issue... or should we all just cancel or subscriptions? Some bugs that have been around since you launched years ago I can tolerate, bringing my whole system down I won't. Fix it or find someone else to pay the bills.
  4. I agree to a point. But what I've seen here and other MMOs is that, when this happens, say like for something less interesting like endurance vs. extra dps, there are options to make it a factor. In short you're saying the endurance boost isn't compelling enough to make it a factor. So to that, why not move the choice between dps/utility vs. endurance lower in the tree and boost it by 2-10x? Probably, somewhere between those it will be valuable to overpowered. Or just double it with a 1% / 5 seconds regen rate in and out of combat, etc. There's a lot you could do. Again, I never said balance it, I said make the rarely selected options compelling while make it more interesting. It's the bands per level that sucks IMO. Every time you ding your's just... a level higher.
  5. Well they could stop listening to all the ideas and we can take our subscriptions elsewhere. Right? Your opinion of my opinion isn't what this community group is about. Go away.
  6. Yea ok, I know it's a lot of work, but I'll never like it. However, for swotor there's a lot more to the game so it doesn't hurt as much, but I very much like skill trees. And I don't agree that its something that had to change specifically into a skill band. I've seen other systems that work well too, but the selection every x-levels is VERY annoying, and makes leveling a chore instead of fun. Just saying...
  7. As someone who was wondering the same thing... can you in general, not specifically, say how? It looks like cyber and arms are the best options as the mods pay very well. I'm impressed you can crank that much out of it daily... but I'm keeping all professions on my alts anyway, so
  8. Then why not clean up the skill tree, keep it as pretty much what we all know, and give us something more interesting instead of this boring band thing? I can say I tried this in wow, and it sucks. Period. No variance at all.
  9. I hate the skill band system. I've had it in WoW for 2 xpacs now, and it's terrible. My issues with it: 1. I don't care if we all made cookie cutter builds, it was fun, and interesting. Every level, I got a little something that was cool. I could toss a point in there. Now? Jack crap for leveling. Find a trainer, bump some skills. 2. It waters down choice, no matter what you say. A band with a few a options every 10 levels is far less selective than a tree with points applied every level. If I want, I can lvl two trees and skip the ultimate until the level cap. It was fun when you could hybrid classes a bit and get interesting builds for situations. 3. I said this with WoW, but I'm not sure it's true here, usually a convert to a skill band kills a large part of the fun in a game. For WoW, it was the beginning of the end. People literally left on that alone. The cool part of swotor is that it isn't as simplistic as something like WoW, but not as hard as something like EVE. Now it's getting watered down. I guess next we will no long visit class trainers for skill purchases. All of the arguments for a skill band system are there was no choice and it gave the illusion there was, but even the illusion has merit. Beyond that though, what it really says to me is "This is too much work for developers to balance and make fun, so we're going to scrap it for extra time at starbucks." It just needs a better selection of situational selections. 1/2/3% endurance being skipped? Make it 2/4/6%. Make the other selection compelling in some way. Sweeten the pot and some will opt for it and there comes the variety along with it.
  10. Well - for one, the mail system in this game sucks. I have to type the full name and spelling, for characters I own, every freak'in time. Even chrome will remember my pre-populated fields. Second, the moment I hit send, it drops me back to the mail inbox... which if I have items to send I have to click back, retype the name, do it again. And all that mainly because the number of slots is limited to 8. Pain in the ***.
  11. Whoa - I second this one... good lord. It's fun the first time around, and it's boring and a nuance the second.
  12. Well the lvling experience in swtor shines. Companions, the storyline quests, etc are really well done. But ping 50 and it goes downhill fast. So core or not, they did an exceptional job on the lvling side, but personally, I didn't realize how much the high end tasks kept me involved.
  13. You're making a lot of assumptions, most incorrect of course. A) you can jump up and down all you want, but if no one is doing lvl50 HMs, then you're screwed. Empire side this wasn't an issue, republic, it was a serious problem. B) do what exactally? You listed warzones for your guild.. do you do anything else? If so, what? My guild is all over the map, and the 50s there aren't on all the time, so getting a good run going is hard/impossible. C) yes, I'm that sarcastic remarked person you described. It didn't take any effort to get to 50.. twice, and to get flashpoints going where I could. Thoughtless comments get you little credit. I asked for a bit of input, and most gave good information back. Saying that there's lots and lots and lots of stuff to do doesn't make it so. I see a HUGE number of my friend back in wow when we were craving something new. Why? Just wanted to see if others felt the same way...
  14. I'm not sure why I have this feeling, but I know there are many others like me that feel like lvl cap is missing something. I know because most of my WoW guildmates are back on WoW. I love the multi-lvl WZ, but without a flashpoint finder, x-realm WZ/FPs, or generally stuff to do, then there's just not... much to do at 50. I guess I can run around trying to gather mats from bugged nodes, craft myself silly, or sit in the station hoping to find an FP to run, but something just doesn't feel right. Anyone else feel this way or have a creative suggestion on what's missing? As a developer myself, I'd like to know.
  15. Actually the ones that show on the map are visible: you can mouse of it, even though the little green/blue indicator on the ground isn't there. No one is going to be a "nice" harvester... bioware needs to fix this stuff.
  16. Coruscant and Taris (repub side) have scav nodes bugged to the max. About 50% according to my spreadsheet... Is this a realm by realm issue or something someone is looking at as a whole?
  17. Seriously? I mean seriously? Is it really supposed to be this hard to get aluminum? There is NO other metal or anything at all I have trouble finding, except this one. And they nerfed droid scav into the dirt. It's 100% useless now. What started as a fun profession quickly becomes... annoying.
  18. Just to clarify a few items: You just hire a new team to build a mac client. It only takes like 5-10 people to build a solid client since the art and media doesn't have to get a rework. This keeps you from taking time away from the current team. Problem solved. Games under bootcamp run at about 50-70% performance. I've tested the WoW client under mac Win 7 and native, and those are real numbers. VM software like VM ware fusion etc do not work at all due to the mouse not working correctly. Mac has a substantial part of the market. No reason to not cash in on it when it only costs the company about $500 to $900k a year for development.
