  1. Actually, what was most 'clear' to me was that somebody spent more time typing into chat than I have seen in the last 20 GSF matches I've played combined. And that every single word consisted of worthless whines and taunts. Worthless POS like that piss me off a lot more than AFKers. AFKers are passive, adding nothing to my experience. Whiners actively detract. They are loathsome. Thank you for illustrating the problem by posting the chat log. This is an issue that needs more attention. Everyone should hate whiners.
  2. The GSF Medals Season objectives would be completely F-ed even if they were actually working as stated. They were warned by multiple people that making only certain medals count would encourage bad behavior by players instead of making best efforts to win matches, but they went ahead and did it anyway with predictable results. The truth is, virtually all PVP conquest and seasons objectives should be based on pure medal counts, but Bioware's devs are just too stubborn to admit the current system is broken.
  3. Fooled? What are you smoking? The most important part of 306 gear for L70- content was that it gave you a full stack of bolster. You got this whether you were wearing full BiS or a random mix of Shatek & Onderonian. L306 gold gear was gold gear for that reason alone. The truth is, using augments you could get very good tertiary stats on trash 306 gear, at least in theory. BiS pieces were BiS because of the set bonuses. The replacement of set bonuses with Legendaries is on the very short list of actual improvements in 7.0. Sigh. I do miss my Victor's set bonuses, though.
  4. Quickly? Upgrading 12 pieces of conquest gear from 220 to 226 costs over 2300 ARMs. That requires completing 60-70 planetary weeklies and 300-400 heroics. Inexpensive, but soul crushing. If you are going the GSF route, prioritize getting your legendaries, run the GSF weekly nine times, then purchase L326 PVP relics and an earpiece (you will have roughly enough currency after 9 GSF weeklies), get the rest of your gear to 324 using various means, then open your 9 Thyrsian boxes. Viola, full 326 purple gear. Don't upgrade conquest gear to 326 unless you have _nothing_ else to do with your ARMs. In fact, if you are gearing alternate characters and specs, you want to keep a full 324 set banked so you can control which pieces of L326 Thyrsian gear you get.
  5. Derp on me, I was looking in the wrong place. Sorry for the misinformation
  6. The above information is COMPLETELY WRONG, I have edited this post to reflect that. My Bad
  7. If all you're doing is playing story missions through KOTET, why the $%^& do you need the first 4 million, let alone the second? There is nothing in story mode that can not be handled with quest greens and an L1 healing companion. Want to do more? Maybe build up your character a little? The current gearing system lets you get to i306 and 30 stacks of veteran's edge without spending a single credit on anything but repairs. And long before you get there you'll have a dozen legendary embers in your bank from disassembled gear, which you can sell on the GTN for that 4 million you want for the L50 companion you do not need. Although I would recommend just using the jawa scrap gifts to get your ship droid to L50 if you insist on a maxed out companion. You will have a lot of Jawa scraps by now. If you've completed a few conquests along the way, you'll have obtained enough SRMs to get that second 4 million off the GTN. Now you should have enough cash to buy BIS set gear and tacticals from the class vendor on fleet. Do all that again and you have more than enough to buy a full set of 2nd best augments off the GTN. And you'll have enough left over for all those half-million credit tradeskill unlocks. Your character is now at 99.5% optimum effectiveness. All this can be achieved in a few weeks without doing anything particularly difficult or even time-consuming by MMO standards. Playing space barbie WILL set you back 10s of millions of credits easily, possibly 100s of millions. But this is an entirely avoidable expenditure. /shrug I like this game in part because it is almost preposterously EASY in its current state. Unless you are seriously interested in progression raiding or ranked PVP, there is nothing particularly grindy or difficult a character needs to do. You can set your own goals and focus on activities that you, the player, find fun. If you spend your time doing the grindiest thing possible, like running heroics for credits, THEN complain loudly that the game is a grindy timesink, that just makes you a passive-aggressive masochist with tunnel vision. Nobody like passive-aggressive masochists except other passive-aggressive masochists.
  8. The Lost Island flashpoint is listed as a 50-70 daily objective. The veteran mode exists, but ITS NOT IN THE QUEUE. Realistically, few in this level range are going to be able to complete this objective. And if you are going to make The Esseles and Black Talon daily objectives for the 10-50 range, you might want to expand the range eligible for the veteran mode queue.
  9. /sigh Speaking as someone who used to troll people on usenet back before MMOs existed, I doubt most of the hostility the OP and his supporters have encountered is sincere. I think you guys are being trolled. Which is kind of ironic given the OPs complaint.
  10. I do not know how I would feel about this. My Mandalorian Bounty Hunter would be able to use the armor set, but not the disintegration rifle.
  11. I have not thought the writing has been particularly good since Oricron. That said, when I read comment threads like this I think a significant fraction of the player base does not deserve anything better. For the players complaining that KOFTE makes no sense for their trooper or bounty hunter, did it honestly never once occur to you that the tech user PCs were latent force sensitives? My first character, a Vanguard, realized something was up on Corellia when she gave a Darth Hadra a beatdown with the butt of her rifle. She beat up a lightsaber-armed Dark Council member with her RIFLESTOCK. Something was definitely not legit. My Operative realized during the course of his interactions with Darth Jadus. Why do you think he singles the agent out? My smuggler was a bit dim and full of himself, attributing all the awesome stuff he accomplished to cleverness and luck. Until talking a bit to Gus Tanno, and visiting Voss, then he began to suspect. My sociopathic bounty hunter suspected on Hutta that her numerous lucky breaks were a bit "unusual", she just did not care why they happened. And had no desire to wind up on Korriban anyway. While the vanilla class stories do not exactly beat one over the head with the idea, there are plenty of hints your character is not exactly normal when it comes to "the Force". And with Shadows of Revan they kind of _do_ start beating you over the head. Do you think Emperor Vitiate the totally unhinged has a conversation with you on Ziost because you are witty? Your tech-user is a latent force sensitive. She always was. Get over it. edit: fixed an obvious typo
  12. You see people talking about the _game_ in general chat? When I read general its all people arguing about Donald Trump, people screaming that someone conned them and people looking for ERP. ...sometimes the same person doing all three at the same time.
  13. M1-4x and Pierce are functionally identical to every other ranged companion. By the time the option to unlock them pops up, you already have more companions in your alliance than you actually need. You can run the maximum number of crew skill missions with a couple left over to provide a choice of melee or ranged combat support. So additional companions are basically just cosmetic items. You no more "need" to PVP to unlock our favorite insanely patriotic battle droid than you "need" to PVP to unlock the gladiator title. And they _are_ PVP companions in a sense. You get influence with them by completing PVP matches.
  14. I thought I would necro this thread to highlight changes since Storymode Black Talon and KOTFE went live. Running Black Talon on my undergeared L38 Immortal with Vette set to healing mode, following the OP's guide while killing and looting everything took just under 29 minutes from quest check-in to zone in on the fleet, while netting 5400 influence, 200LS points, just over 10K credits and roughly 160K XP (two thirds of a level?). That time includes a quick trip to get coffee. I'm sure it can be done faster with Vette set to DPS mode, since the relatively high presence values makes her neigh god-like at the instance phase level of 10. I'm not sure anyone would want to run this ~40 times to max out Vette's influence, but I'm sure some people would rather do a couple runs starting out than purchasing and clicking through a stack of 99 Hutt hit lists or underworld rumor sheets.
  15. Thats just it. L20 mods are worth roughly the same as L40 mods RIGHT NOW. And L43-49 mods are often worth _less_. But people don't really farm low-level heroics at all. That's because farming low level heroics is actually something of a time-consuming chore. Log into ship. Fly to planet. Log into spaceport/orbital station. Log into Planet. Run to taxi stand. Taxi ride. Run to heroic. etc... All for meager cash and no experience. And its not like Section X or Black Hole, where all the quest givers are in one place. To pick up a decent number of comms via planetary heroics, you have to run all over the $%^&-ing planet. Then to earn XP, you have to run back to a different planet. Most people would rather just keep running content at a particular character's level. It netx them better rewards (XP + cash) while getting the commendations, it cuts down on travel time and loading screens, and its just more challenging and fun, I don't believe this is a real issue. But if farming low level heroics truly became an issue, just remove the commendation reward once a quest grays out. Problem solved. The weekly cap of 50, as it currently stands on PTS, is almost _bizarrely_ low. The number really makes no sense, unless the devs have decided it was some sort pf terrible mistake to let people buy L49- moddable gear with commendations and that the entire system needs a mighty nerfing.
  16. Actually, it's a bad argument in support of a weekly cap on planetary mods for two reasons. The first is that GTN prices on item mods are actually pretty stable NOW from roughly L20 to L40....when prices actually start to drop, presumably because people worry less about gearing when they know they are getting free recruit/tionese gear pretty soon. People have roughly the same incentive to farm low level heroics right now....and its not really a problem despite being ungated. The second is that a per-character gate like this only hits new players ... who already have the toughest time gearing a character. For someone like me...who'll have ~6 L50 characters with all crafting trade skills covered, keeping a new alt geared will remain a pretty trivial exercise. Why they would want to discourage a new player is ...questionable. A low bank cap for planetary mods is a good idea....it encourages a character to spend them as they gather them. But the 50 per WEEKLY cap is _very_ poorly thought out. It amounts to less than 5 kitted out orange shells per week. It will take a character about two weeks to earn a complete new set of gear. For the sub-50 game that is awfully slow.
  17. We actually have no idea whether the OP had reasonable cause to be insulted, or is just being a self-important attention seeking nitwit. Why? Becuase he never bothered to tell us the purportedly offensive name. For all we know, the name in question has absolutely nothing to do with autism outside the OP's deranged mind, or the OP is just a successful troll. Overwrought complaints lacking important details are, in fact, usually posted by trolls. They're not worth getting up on a high horse over. Personally, before I'm willing to sympathize with somebody, I want details, not a vaguely worded whine.
  18. I have to agree with the first part of this. I've leveled a heal-specced Operative & Consular to 50, and am doing a combat support Merc now. Before Red Reaper, a well-equipped & specced healer can easily split time between DPS and heals except on a few fights per flashpoint. If the healer & the tank are over-leveled for the flashpoint, the healer can productively split DPS & Heals on pretty much all the fights. Sure, it probably amounts to >1/3 of the DPS a dedicated Deeper does, but every little bit speeds things along. It should also be pointed out that Smuggler/Operative healers have two resources to manage. They sometimes are DPSing not so much to dPS, but to pick up Upper Hand/Tactical Advantage. When I'm on my operative, if nobody really needs a heal but tactical advantage < 3 or is about to drop, I'm going to throw out a shiv or shoot down a weak mob. But, I've never actually tried healing a flashpoint while specced for DPS. In fact, that strikes me as a pretty terrible idea for all the flashpoints after Athiss. All the heal trees include a signature heal ability at L20, and that ability is increasing needed except in seriously overpowered groups .. which is usually not the case with a PUG.
  19. Doc. Don't laugh, I'm serious. You have to see him with my Jedi Guardian's eyes. Sure, he can be an arrogant posterior orifice. And he has some ...uh....baggage. But he's also a big-hearted man who has dedicated his life to bringing medical care to refugees in war zones. And he is the only man in the galaxy who has never treated her as a either a padawan with much to learn, or a Jedi-Who-Is-The-Only-Hope-Of-The-Galaxy. Instead, he hits on her and promises to show her the Correllian nightlife "after the parade when we're done saving the entire galaxy, of course." Least Hot: Sergeant Rusk. Manages to make Hoth feel colder, somehow.
  20. I just finished the SI story as a Twi'Lek Assassin a couple weeks ago. I enjoyed the story immensely. From the outset, the character is engaged in a brutal struggle for simple survival. The inquisitor has to claw her way up from a cess pit to the top of the Sith Order or face a hideous and painful death. She struggles at every turn merely to be taken seriously and faces not just death, but naked contempt, at every turn. There is a constant sense of pressure to move forward or perish horribly. Its like a plot dreamed up by a half-deranged Neitschzean playright who typed out "WHAT DOES NOT KILL ME MAKES ME STRONGER" for a title, added a half dozen exclamation points, and just went on from there. Kind of the opposite of "boring". /shrug I know some people complain that the SI story does not have enough "plotting", but I'm not even sure what that means in the context of a video game. I guess some people wanted to spend a lot of time as a Mr. Burns type dressed up in red&black robes, cackling and going "exxxxxxcellent..." after weaving an intricate web of embarrasing rumors about their rivals on the Holonet from their penthouse apartment's desktop PC. But I'm not sure how to present that within this medium.
  21. If a bunch of people were walking around with the power to shoot lightning out of their fingertips and crush windpipes at will, encouraging those people to keep their emotions in check and think things through calmly _might_ be in the best interest of _everyone_, force users included.
  22. No sense at all? Thats an awfully self-righteous attitude for someone who has slaughtered dozens of sith acolytes and has been complicit in the death of uncounted innocents by the time Xalek shows up. LS Sith are still Sith, not misplaced Jedi. They've passed the trials at Korriban, after all. My evilish-neutral Assassin wanted her fellow Twi'Lek as an apprentice, but she had to admit that Xalek's determination and force potential were quite impressive. He deserved a chance at life as much as she did. And since the alternative for him was death....
  23. I'm confused by why you seem to believe that a quote where the guy says he does NOT expect SWTOR to knock WOW over proves that EA claimed SWTOR would knock WOW over. Do you not comprehend the meaning of the word "not"? Or, this being the internet, are you just functionally incapable of admitting error?
  24. 1. Loved KOTOR (Best Star Wars story since the Empire Strikes Back) & KOTORII. Nostalgia for those games + the opportunity to play out a new story keeps pulling me back to SWTOR. 2. Duh, Its Star Wars. What other game lets you fight a Wookie with a flamethrower, pursue a Sith Lord with a grudge, or play a bloodthirsty Twilek bounty hunter? 3. I enjoy SWOTOR battlefield PVP a lot more than I ever did WOW or EQ2. Rift was pretty good, but that leads me to... 4. Tired of sword & sorcery RPGs and MMOs after playing through most of them over the last 15 years. Which leads to ..... 5. I spent the last couple months playing through Fallout III and Fallout New Vegas. So I'm tired of post-apocolyptic wasteland RPGs, too. Swtor kind of wins for my RPG/Story-based game wants by default.
