  1. Wow, the OP and his mentality are just full of FAIL!

FPS and RTS are very successful pvp games, and it shows that gear progression is not needed to have people want to play your game. There is nothing that says MMOs ´have´ to have gear progression, not unless you can show us in the official mmo creators book where it says that is a law of mmos.

And i want pvp gear progression or lack there of to be like the other styled games mentioned, but i want it in my mmo play. I am clearly not the only one that wants this, and i think you are deluding yourself if you believe we are such a small voice.

    Just speaking for this game,

    http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=259238

+ the many other large threads here that have been created about how players love the 10-49 bracket and want to roll alts to only play in it.

So it is pretty ignorant of you to ignore the obvious right in front of you.

Want to stop pve ers from rolling in unchecked, just stat cap them with a -10% regardless of thier gear. I say this because BW wanted to seperate those that spend time in pvp and pve (though i do not think it is necessary, just a straight stat cap would do). Then you will have all the leet pve ers getting face rolled because they suck at pvp and wont show up, or the players that like to enjoy both will then function just fine.

  2. Yes it is to stop all the dps noobs from running in DC, so that the ´proper´ tree charge is actually used and no more being great dps and tank in one build.

I really did like the hybrid flavor as Darth above me mentions, but considering DC gives your the majority of your tanking ability it is bad design to allow all the dps specs to get its benefits without giving up anything. It makes more sense to me if dps could utilize either of the two dps charges to customize how they want to do damage.

Changes in design are needed, otherwise the class will stay broken with alot of unused talents/abilities.

  3. I have to chuckle at this. A kid gets a new toy. A kid plays with a toy, perhaps not the way the manufacturer intended, but he's having a blast. The manufacturer comes in and messes around with the toy until the kid can't play with it the way he wanted, because that's not how it was intended to be played with. Doesn't matter that the kid was having fun.

Bioware - if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Fix what IS broke. Like our passive talent, Assassin's Training. Or is that too obvious for you?

    Good annalogy.

But the class was designed with the 3 charge stances, and really only DC was being used for everything. So to me that says the other two charges or trees were broken and now they are fixing it. If you are dps, you should not be ´as survivable´ or even close to that of a true tank.

btw i love Madness and i like these changes.

  4. Actually yeah, they do. Some of the most fun builds ever come from hybrid builds. In WoW, a hybrid Affliction/Demonologist warlock was very fun to play. In Age of Conan, a hybrid Herald of Xotli was really awesome too. Etc, etc.

It's never bad to give people variety and choice. Instead of lack of variety and lack of choice. It also keeps opponents guessing. If they kill off hybrids, all the enemy has to do is look at what stance you're in, and they know what spec you are. Yeah, yeah, you can change stances in combat. But if they see you fighting, odds are you'll be in your preferred stance, and bingo, they have your build down to a T. And now they know precisely how to fight you. Now compare that to the present scenario. See a Sin with Dark Charge? What are the odds he's FULL Darkness? Actually, pretty low. Nobody expects it. And when I start nailing them with uninterruptible lightning thy go WHAAA?! But if these changes go live, they see Dark Charge, they know what's coming.

Anyway, my view is that forcing a specific stance for a specific spec is kinda dumb. As a warrior in WoW, stance dancing was basically required. Your interrupt only worked in Beserker stance, your Overpower only worked in Battle stance, etc., etc. If you were being focused, you popped Defensive stance and defensive cooldowns, etc., etc. Instead, Bioware decided to tie a stance to a tree, and for the most part you will be in that tree because it's usually not time-efficient to switch stances in combat. Makes the game more primitive than it has to be, and limits choices.

Well i actually do agree with you that i enjoy the hybrid alot more so myself, but i also find that there is no place for hybrid in pve and is situational for pvp. I works fine for lvling/questing.

But on the flipside in this game, i hate the idea of all the sin dps running around in DC so they can get the main benefits of a tank and still have great damage.

Even if they doubled the benefit of lightning/surging charge they still would not be used.

I can understand that you want it very unpredictable to what your fighting but i think that is taking it to far so as to not give players the ability to acurately identify what they are fighting and counter. I dont want dps having the benefit of a tank stance just for the sake of pulling one over on opponents, as it causes serious imbalance issues just to do so. If you want your dps to be more survivable then hybrid spec to get survival talents in darkness, but if you want the stance you have to sacrifice alot of damage. Vice versa if it makes sense.

Dont get me wrong, i want a certain versatility and i dont want 20 warriors at end game to all look and spec the same or one or two specs, but there is too much too where it becomes to much to identify and counter.

  5. Does anyone actually take a quick scan of the forum they are posting in before they just create another thread about a topic already being discussed???

    Seriously, open your eyes man.

This isnt really a nerf, and if you were not a tank running in DC to begin with you were doing it wrong. It was obvious from the getgo what charge stances were meant for what talent tree.

  6. They're killing hybrids because they noticed almost every sin spec was running with dark charge in PvP, giving sin's actually some needed survability... and we can't have that.

    Exactly this!!

With the exception though i dont see this in a negative light as it is a OBVIOUS design of what charges are to be used in what tree.

DPS were all running in DC which should have told you something was very wrong from that point.

  7. Wow, alot of cry babies crying about the changes to making charge stances be used in thier 'obvious' tree they were designed for.

The fact that non darkness trees were relying so heavily on DC should have also been obvious to anyone that read the talent trees and charges that it is really only for the darkness tree and ext ext with the other charges to trees.

If anything, i think this has been needed and i have no doubt that damage/mitigation for all trees will be balanced eventually to be effective if they are lacking.

As so many people have been saying, the game is a little over a month old and it needs a bit of time to be worked out.

As for hybrid death, well i find to many mmo's with that last point talent in a tree design dont work well to having both hybrid and pure viable.

  8. I would just prefer the bracket for pure pvp fun and skill. I would also go with then just putting max stats at 50 (which would be equal to the blue set you suggested) in order to allow the custom orange gear so you can still have your own look instead of 50 warriors that all look the same because of one gear set available.

Also, based on another thread in pvp section about how much fun it is in pre 50 i would think there is alot of people out there that would absolutely love this, so they dont have to roll alts in order to play in it.

I dont get why most of these MMO companies seriously cant grasp pvp competiveness and instead they always turn it into a gear race like pve. It makes sense for pve, but pvp has proven to be very successful without gear incentive. FPS / RTS ??? I know i will keep on playing this bracket if they offered it and i bet anyone that talks the talk about thier skill will be here too just to show they are about skill and not monstrous advantage carrying them thru fights.

Lastly i as well dont have the time to commit to hard grinding the gear day upon day of endless sleep, so this allows people like me the opportunity to just have some fun pvp matches.

    So end verdict,

    +1

  9. I love all the crying 50s that are popping in here to complain about ques or how bad the non 50 players are for not being able to fight a geared 50 and win....

Seriously though, i would play pvp in the 10-49 bracket forever, as i am sure many here would as well, so why do they feel the need to have expertise gear in the game when all it does is make pvp gaps so far that it just isnt fun anymore.

PVP players can jump into pve no problem yet they put the stat on pvp gear to penalize cross play. So is it me or does it make far more sense and take out alot of the problems by putting the stat on pve gear instead? (stat being expertise and applying it logically to pve gear in function)

So playing for better gear is great, but i am thinking gear incentive in pvp is nowhere near as important as pve gear incentive to continue. So give other type of game options for pvp incentive that isnt gear, heck vanity stuff would prolly be enough for many.

True pvp´ers play pvp for the excitement/challenge of pvp, not because they have to have the best gear. Dont get me wrong, there should be some gear incentive, but it just doesnt need to offer very much stat increase at all.

  10. Since your obviously not a pvper i will go easy on you. Dont ever take Corrupted Flesh its

the worst talent for sins. You have an ability to purge DoT's and other harmful effects. Even

for PvE Tanking HM Ops you use purge over relying on this crap, and if purge not ready your

healer should have dispelled it long b4 you even see it hurting.

I actually do pvp alot, though i am not 50 and i wont be taking those talents until then. I also dont have purge yet and what you said makes perfect sense as to not needing corrupted flesh at all, so i can actually take that instant whirlwind prolly instead.

  11. The hybrid build i use has, i have corrupted flesh for 15% mitigation vs dots as well as parasitism and death field.

So is that technically not more/equal tankability from the self healing of parasitism / deathfield than say withers 5%, plus more dot mitigation at 15% which is significant assuming bosses have appropriate abilities.

Sure i am not quite as energy efficient on some abilities but my end goal was being the most unkillable i could be at expense of dps, and the hybrid into madness i think still gives me more dps than the pure darkness build.

Anyone else agree with me on this view?
