  1. Crit rating way to high and power way to low. Check commando forum and in particular this thread http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=560652 Also make sure you are using the correct Cell. I and others now and then do this. We hit like a wet noodle only to figure out later we're using the wrong cell. doh
  2. Except it's a 2 roll system. Accuracy will always be important for Commandos. And our dps seems to be fine. Some bosses are just melee friendly. If you can't beat this old, slow and lazy grampa here in dps i'd suggest more dummy testing. I'm already at the top of the charts for a raid nite. So no we don't need a buff for PvE.
  3. As it's an exploit i'd suggest removing the statues from your post. We don't use them or any cheats or any sort of exploits in any of our raids btw. We do all boss fights as SWTOR intended.
  4. You need to enter The Justice and not Tavus's ship as already stated. Look at your galaxy map. Click upper left area. It should show the planet Ilum and the ship you need to goto.
  5. Yup that works. So as i often do i went back to 6/31/4 spec as opposed to the 5/31/5 spec. My First responder uptime was 54% on our TFB 16 man HM The Writhing Horror kill. This put me at 7% 54% of the time and 2% 46% of the time. For an average of 4.7% reduced cast time. As opposed to 4%. So really no noticeable difference in dps except ammo regen is easier with the 5/31/5 spec as it's a steady 4%. This is why i prefer 5/31/5. I did manage to get myself a bit higher on the torparse dps list for that fight though. So i'll stay with 6/31/4 for another week or so and see if i can do the same on other bosses as well. Not getting my hopes up. My attacks per minute are well below average for Commandos. So getting First Responder to proc is terrible for me. I just do slow and steady dps. Didn't use 1 Hammershot during that fight for example. Now i'm not saying everyone will get the same results. Cause my way is not actually the right way. Spamming abilities and tossing in Hammershots is the right way. So First Responder uptime should be better for people doing it the right way. I'm just to lazy for that and my lazy way works for me.
  6. To the Op, yes. However for me there is Full Auto damage without the animation. I used to think it didn't do damage until i looked really hard. Also Demo Round now and then won't work at all and i have to hit it twice. All of these are caused by lag. Some days it's fine. Like last nite in our 16 man raid i had no issue. Well except for lag spikes now and then when i couldn't do anything at all. But hey, i'm kinda getting used to that.
  7. No it's the opposite. The lower the time the higher the variance in dps. The longer the time the less variance and a better average. The one time i got 1998dps was from a 5 min test. I've never gotten near those results using a 10-12 min test for example. So as i previously said. A short test and the crit gods favoring you would provide the highest dps. So we don't use short tests as they aren't indicative of their true average. We're trying to reduce luck from the equation within an acceptable amount.
  8. I roll a female human now and then. My main is a female human. I always say "If i have to stare at someone's arse all day long i'd rather it was a female's arse". Seriously, that's my reasoning.
  9. From the post Target Tracking doesn't work for Unload in merc forums http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=446863&highlight=target+tracking&page=3 A good example below for Cell Charger talent bug in Commando forum. http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=438245&page=2 We did not get a yellow response in that thread. However we linked it in another thread in customer service in which they responded. Thankfully they redesigned the talent. Cause quite often you would not get ammo restored for over 30 seconds which i also posted about as well as the above log. To say they never respond in class forums is a falcity. While i don't see many they do respond at times. I certainly wished they responded a lot more often though. As for 5 2 minute dummy tests. 2 minute tests are a total waste of time. You might crit for 25% in one test and 65% in another. Longer tests provide a better average. I'd suggest 6 min tests at the very least and preferably 10-12 min. I typically use 10-12 min tests myself. However you can just napkin math what each ability does and skip the parsing. My only suggestion was to ensure you use Unload wether Barrage procs or not. Barrage only provides approx an 18.9% actual increase to Unload as it's 25% additive and not muliplicative. So even without the Barrage proc Unload still does more dps than a Tracer Missle. Note Target Tracking was fixed for Unload in 1.3.2 which increased Unloads dps and made the above feasible. Hence one reason why i said to update your post.
  10. There is NO penetration for accuracy. So there is no formula. There isn't anything under defense or accuracy which indicates penetration. You get ranged/melee accuracy to +10%=100% for mainhand to not miss weapon damage abilities ranged/melee for mainhand.
  11. You're doing fine for dps. But like me i think we could both improve a little bit. Your build and gear is just about perfect as well. There is one A mod that needs to be swapped out. As for a 5 min vs 12 min fight. I use a 10-12 minute fight to get a better average vs 5-6 min. A 10-12 minute fight requires better ammo regen. So dps may be a bit lower on a 10-12 min fight. However exiting combat takes a few seconds. So the longer the fight the less dps loss. The shortest fight would provide the highest dps if the crit gods favor you. Try the 10-12 min tests and see how you do. And of course lag can really handicap us and some other class specs vs some other class specs which aren't handicapped by it as much. Using a ships dummy eliminates most of this though. So to answer the last question. The shorter fight. But it will usually take more than one test to get lucky. We don't use short tests like that btw.
  12. If they didn't visit here they may not have fixed the talents that were broken. Here's the list of broken talents that i and many others provided data on as an example. Target Tracking/Deadly Cannon=did not work for Unload/Full Auto=Fixed Terminal Velocity/Cell Charger=did not work for Unload/Full Auto=Redesigned So they do read class forums. If they didn't these bugs may have gotten overlooked. I have a few problems with this guide. Torhead does not work for me so i can't see any of the talent builds. For Arsenal. Still listing Agile Mod 27 and 27A. When it should be Agile Mod 27 and Nimble mod 27 (no A variants should be used). Also you don't get 35% crit and put the rest in power any more. Get Tech bonus damage to ~1100 via power fully buffed and using a stim. The rest goes into crit. You should also add Advanced Battle Enhancement 27 and Advanced Acute 27 as well. Looking at the Arsenal rotation video it's arguable about rotation. There are a few variations that are all fine imo. So it's ok as is. However Unload should be used wether Riddle procs or not. Just to be clear. I'd rather a guide was a bit more accurate. Should it have been stickied at one time? Maybe. But as is i'm not giving it any stars personally. Although i do believe a lot of work went into it and i am appreciative of this work. I'm sure it's helped many. And yes i'm nitpicking a bit here. But i am doing so in hopes that this gets corrected.
  13. You pretty much got it. I average 177x dps (no adenals) in a 12 minute ops dummy test and i'm not quite best in slot yet as well. Short 4 armorings, 2 mods, 1 enhancement and 1 relic. Still using a Matrix cube, lol. I should be doing >1800dps on average on a 12 minute ops dummy test with all buffs and an exo stim. But without using adrenals, etc. With ~1900dps quite doable if i spam abilities and toss in more Hammershots and use adrenals. So i'm under performing a bit. Now that's with the 5/31/5 build. With the 6/31/4 build add another 60dps? Although the dps is greater it requires more hammershot spammage. And i'm not a fan of needing to use Hammershot a lot. It just doesn't work with my macros. So overall my raid dps is better with the 5/31/5 build on average mainly because of that. With the gear and the way the stats are we hit the following. Accuracy=+10.27% Crit Multi=76.28% If you increase surge you'd be lowering accuracy which is a dps loss. As regards to crit%. Yes it's very dependent on your current gear. This is mainly affected by your power. Which changes your Tech damage bonus. You want your Tech Bonus damage close to +1100 fully buffed and using an Exo stim. If you exceed this then you swap in more crit mods, etc. This will then determine what your crit% is after the fact. So it'll be somewhere between 36-39.5% approx.
  14. Arg did some math then reread it and it's for assault spec. doh!
  15. Ya, sort of. http://code.google.com/p/simulationcraft-swtor/ You have to use the merc one. Which is close enough. But since they have an offhand it will proc the kinetic relic more than a commando. Cast times are not correct imo, which messes up the value of alacrity. It's still a decent tool though. I use it only to figure out power and crit ratios. Also max dps possible so i have a goal to shoot for even if i can't attain it. And like any sim it's a tank and spank fight and not really what your dps will be in game. But we already know that. Update the dps numbers using that tool if you can. Damage from power still looks a little low to me. You can probably manually add x amount of power. Although i haven't tried that.
  16. Oh i wasn't thinking you were showing off. I just think your testing wasn't very well done. Oh and looking at that parse you were getting exactly 1 proc every 9 seconds. That put the proc as doing 29.9dps. If your tech crit is like mine at 37% and not 30% like the parse it should have actually done 31.1dps. At worse it can proc every 9.5 seconds for me. Using 9.5 seconds and 37% crit it comes out to 29.5dps. So i'll use 29.5dps as worse case scenario. Now let me use my paperdoll and see what each of my abilites hits for when raising power by x amount. Also subtracting for armor, adding crit, etc, etc. This is just a quick napkin math so may be off a bit. I believe this is fairly close though. 47=18.8dps 73=29.2dps 97=38.8dps (Champion power relic) 113=45.2dps (WH power relic) 120=48dps (EWH power relic) 134.5=53.8dps (DG power on use relic) 18.8+29.5=48.3dps (DG Kinetic proc relic) So if the above is correct in regards to damage with extra power. Also worse case scenario of proc damage. Then the proc damage relic needs to do 29.3dps or better to beat EWH power relic, which it does. But they are so close it really doesn't matter which you use. If you sim it the proc relic comes out even higher. Mainly because we're supposed to spam abilities and weave Hammershots in. So proc rate would be better. I don't do the hammershot weaving though. So it won't help me. So your play style will dictate which relic you prefer. Arg, forgot to factor in CoF procs for Full Auto. I also left cast times at 1.5 and 3.0. So the Kinetic proc relic may need to do >30 dps to beat the EWH power relic. So you will need to proc it at every ~9.3 seconds or better. I'd call it every 9.2 seconds or better to be safe as my math is a bit off.
  17. First you compared a DG power on use relic vs the DG kinetic proc damage relic. We are not comparing those against each other. Equip the DG on use power relic for both test. Then try comparing a WH or better yet an EWH power relic vs the DG Kinetic proc relic. You also don't have enough samples to really compare. As you said you did crit quite a bit more on one of the test vs the other. In fact signifficantly higher. I know i can parse an ops dummy at just under 1500dps to just under 2000dps without changing any gear. With 1988dps being my best so far. Average is approx 1800dps fyi and i seldom if ever use adrenals when testing. I well understand that for gunnery commandos the DG proc relic will proc less for us than perhaps every class and spec. For me personally i do slightly worse than you with it proccing at approx every 9 seconds. However if you do the math even at every 9 seconds it still beats out the EWH power relic. But it's so close that it really doesn't matter which you use. Personally if i PvPed more i'd probably just go with 2 EWH power relics. I'd rather have steady power and a more consistent dps. Although swapping in the DG power on use relic i like as well. I currently use a DG on use power relic and *gasp* a matrix cube. I needed the crit more than the power else i'd be using my old champion power relic. So long as i can still be at the top of the damage and dps charts for an Ops i'm ok using whatever feels comfortable to me. I doubt i'll ever use the damage proc relics even if they are very slightly better. But who knows i may gave in and do the dailies to get it. I just don't feel it's needed to grind out dailies for 2 relics when 1 is fine really. And obviously i hate grinding dailies so i'm a bit prejudiced here. However the BIS list does stay as is as it's correct currently no matter which we actually use or prefer.
  18. Not sure why you'd need a quide for this. Also the naga may not be the best idea as it has a 0.05 second delay between each key press if you macro abilities. You might be better off downloading a keybinder macro thingie for your keyboard. I have a Logitech keyboard and my G keys i macro as follows. Can do this with the Naga as well. I own a Naga and hate it. I could never get used to it. So it sits in a box. Luck with that. G1= +,3,2 (no delays between key presses for me) That's + On use Power relic, 3 Unload, 2 Tracer missle. The on use power relic needs to be first cause using it can and will interupt abilities, ie if you had it second it would interupt Unload. In this order you will never miss an procced unload and get max use of your clickie power relic. Set up a button for cleanse. There's at least 3 raid bosses i use this on currently. Set up an interupt macro. This one can be a pain to set up as you need to interupt your current ability that you're casting. The easiest way to do this is to move. I use W to move and as the macro is so fast you won't actually see yourself moving in game. Now you need a delay. This delay may need to be set based on your lag or server lag. For me it's tested quite a few different amounts and 0.200 seconds works 100% of the time for me. Less than that and failure rate increases proportionally. G2=W, W, (0.200 delay),- W move forward, - interupt I have move forward twice. I can't recall if i had to do this so that it would interupt my current cast or not. If you're using the Naga and have to use W twice this would add a delay of 0.05. Which makes the whole macro .250 seconds long. So try with just 1 W and see if it works first. If you do need to use W twice you might be able to subtract 0.05 from the .200 delay for 0.150. Test the .200 and or .150 second delay and see if you can lower this amount but ensure it works 100% of the time. I've only tested this on the Commando. Merc may not have this odd interupt issue that requires a .200 second delay.
  19. I'm not saying to spend money to optimize your system. I'm saying to optimize your current system. It's not a question of money. It's just ensuring your system is working correctly and at it's full potential with what you have. When i built this computer earlier this year swtor ran like absolute crap. CTD's quite often. Locks ups. Low fps. Stuttering and huge drops in fps. I just kept at it until i resolved all my hardware and software issues. Didn't even know i had any issues until playing this game. This takes quite a bit of work and each system will be different. It can be very difficult at times to locate and fix the problems. It took me several weeks btw. Could have lowered the time using google. But i prefer figuring stuff out on my own. I've tried unleashed with (diskcachearena, localapp, fx) and (diskcachearena, localapp, fx, dynamic). Any more than that just goes to pagefiling due to only having 8gb ram. So it ends up being counter intuitive. I run fullscreen mode because i prefer fullscreen mode. I can live with a reload time that's a max of 6 seconds when i alt/tab out and back in. And i might mention that there's many posts of users that say using unleashed did not help them. I'm not here to argue. I agree it has helped a whole lot of people. But at least give me the courtesy to agree that is has not helped a lot of people as well. And i admit there are quite a few not using unleashed correctly. But i can assure you there are plenty that were using it correctly that saw no benefit. As explained using readyboost via a mem stick would not benefit me either. My access time on my ssd is faster as well as read and write speeds obviously. And i have a fairly old usb stick that benches horribly. There really isn't any reason to use ready boost if you have an ssd that is working correctly. The ssd should be 4x faster. In my case it's 10-20x faster read and writes. Although access time is only 2-4x faster on my ssd. If your main drive is not an ssd i'd put ready boost on the ssd drive however. Ready boost on my mem stick on my laptop may be an option as that's using a fairly slow hdd and no ssd so the mem stick access time would be ~20x faster. So yayour suggestion is looking like a real good idea and i'll try it out some day. Lappy has 6gb of ram so i may be able to try unleashed on it. Although i can't be bothered atm as it's winter and i rarely if ever use it now. Now that i've tried my ssd by itself i think i'll put it back as my raid10 ssd cache drive. I liked everything loading and running fast as opposed to just this game. And thanks again for helping so many people with unleashed.
  20. I have an ASUS P8Z68-V PRO GEN3, I7 2600k@4.43ghz, 8gb corsair ddr3 running at 1000mhz/2000mt/s, 2 560TI in SLI mode, 4 WD black editions 1tb hdd's running in raid10, Corsair Force GT 60gb as my ssd cache drive for my raid10. I always play with all settings at max and have zero issues. I don't have to run with fullscreen windowed mode. I run in fullscreen mode. I don't have to use the nameplate scaling fix, so don't use it. Max dip to 35fps if there's 250 on the fleet and i pass by 100+ by the gtn on my speeder. Otherwise it's 50-110fps. Typically 60+fps. I won't argue that unleashed will help and does help plenty of people. I also won't argue that ram is 10x faster than an ssd. However unleashed does not help us people that have optimized our own system. I take great pride in knowing and optimizing my system to the fullest and i test everything to verify this. You don't need unleashed if you're optimized. The game does not require 10,000mb/s thruput. However it does seem to ~ 250mb/s to not have issues and if you aren't getting over this amount unleashed can be a great help. Again test and optimize your system. Here's a hint. If you select unleashed to load 16gb to ram and it takes 2 minutes to load this into ram then this means your ssd is not performing well. It's a benchmark without actually downloading and using a benchmark. Noticed a few people posting it's taking that long with their ssd systems. I'd seriously look into correcting whatever issue you have. We have quite a few people in my guild who have and use SSD's and at least two have just swtor on the ssd. That two have load times that are worse than my non ssd raid10 before i added my ssd cache. There is somethign wrong on their end, driver, software, firmware, etc. We're always waiting on these people to get back to the boss after a wipe. There are also quite a few of us with SSD's that are working optimally. We've tried unleashed and most if not all have went back to not using it as none of our optimized systems found enough of a benefit. The people with the long load times i haven't suggested they use unleashed yet. I'd personally rather see them fix their computer first. Again using load times as a way to gauge their ssd performace. I think it's obvious the people with the long load times would benefit quite a bit more by using unleashed. While it may or may not decrease load times it should increase fps as they aren't having to wait for the swtor files to constantly read and there are quite a lot of files being read at once i've noticed. I decided to try a different scenario this time around. I removed my ssd cache drive from my raid 10. Tested unleashed on my raid 10 regular hdd's without the ssd cache. Then installed swtor on the ssd to compare the difference. There was zero fps gain in either setup. However load time from character select screen to in game was 45 seconds for the raid10 using unleashed (diskcachearena, local app, fx and dynamic) vs 15 seconds for the ssd without unleashed. Raid 10 with the ssd cache performed exactly the same as the ssd by itself oddly. Same fps and same load times. I'm never had an issue with this game. I run in fullscreen mode and not fullscreen windowed. Never had to turn nameplate scaling off. Never had to lower any graphic settings. Yet i've seen people with almost exactly the same setup as mine that were having many issues. Same cpu, same mobo, same vid card. People are obviously doing something wrong. I'm going back to optimizing your system. If you got my mobo uninstall that virtulogic software and disable that pos in the bios. That fixed my initial problems with this game. Finding and using the correct vid drivers worked wonders as well. Using 310.70 currently. This is a great tool that has helped a lot of people. I'm glad people are looking for ways to help people out. And it has helped quite a lot of people. It just hasn't helped me. But i didn't need help anyways. I don't believe the game is the problem. Look at fixing it on your end. That's not to say there aren't some problems with some setups. AMD vid cards still having issues i believe for example. And some setups just won't run this game right. My laptop is a good example of a setup that runs this game like crap. But i think i'll put the blame on the manufacturer and not the game. just my 2 cents
  21. Without you actually testing it how on earth do you know the SDD's are working correctly. It's not always just plug and play. As explained in my previous post there can be plenty of problems. Check the corsair forums for example of the problems people are having. SSD performance also degrades. To add to my previous post. Is TRIM working? TRIM does not work if you're using ssd in pci-e slot. TRIM does work for RAID but only if the ssd is not being used are part of a raid array. Although the latest IRST and mobo bios does support it. But you have to research this and use the correct bios and IRST. Also may need to update your firmware for the SSD.
  22. This is more a "my hdd/ssd just isn't up to snuff". If you need unleashed to make the game better then you really need to look at correcting your hardware issues. I use raid 10 regular hdd/s and 1 ssd cache drive. Unleashed has a minimal inpact. Did not help min fps. Lowest is 35fps for me fyi with 250 on rep fleet cruising by the gtn. Typically it's 60-110fps. Maybe a 5% increase on average using unleashed. But may be a placebo effect for my system. I've stopped using it as a result. However my hdd/s with ssd cache does bench at 550mb/s. I think what most people need is to run a few hard drive/SSD benchmark programs. For example, just because you're using an SSD doesn't mean anything. Make sure the hardware is working optimally. Switching from ide to ahci in bios for example would double your speed. Using an MS ahci driver over a say a marvell driver can help as well. Also don't use the Marvell ports as they seem to have the worse performance. Latest bios and or oprom along with latest drivers. Although the latest isn't always the best option. C3 and C6 states enabled in bios on some systems cause hdd/ssd performace to drop to 1/2. Gigabyte notorious for this for some reason. Someone mentioned readyboost and using a thumb drive. Well my thumb drive benches at 25mb/s in my usb3.0 port. So that would be a huge slow down using that option. I'd suggest benching yours before trying it. Knew mine wasn't fast as it's a fairly cheap one. But i had no idea it was that slow. Now if you only have a regular hdd and it's not running in raid 0 or 10 i'd think unleashed would be very helpful. Other than that i'd suggest you really look into optimizing your system. Course if you have a lot of ram like 12gb+ and an ssd or raid 0 or 10 i'd still try unleashed and see how helpful it is. But if you find it is helpful think seriously about optimizing your system. Cause you really shouldn't need to use it with that setup.
  23. And still no response when this effects half the player base or more.
  24. That was just bad RNG. Losing 8 aim and gaining 30 power is way way better.
  25. OK let's look at delaying HiB and DR if CoF procs. Crit rates and crit multipliers already factored in. Damage based on my gear and dummy testing. Average damage for hit/time Average damage per tick*3/time FA=2624*3=7872/3=2624dps (with CoF proc) GR=2560/1.5=1707dps HiB=3412/1.5=2275dps DR=3864/1.5=2576dps Let's try hitting FA when CoF procs VS delaying HiB and DR. FA-HiB-DR-GR-GR-FA-GR-GR-FA-HiB-DR=21 seconds 3 seconds=7872/3=2624dps (this is higher) 6 seconds=7872+3412+3864/6=2525dps 9 seconds=7872+3412+3864+2560+2560/9=2252dps 12 seconds=7872+3412+3864+2560+2560+7872=2345dps 18 seconds=7872+3412+3864+2560+2560+7872+2560+2560+7872/18=2285dps (this is higher) 21 seconds=7872+3412+3864+2560+2560+7872+2560+2560+7872+3412+3864/21=2305dps vs HiB-DR-FA-GR-GR-FA-GR-GR-HiB-DR+FA=21 seconds 3 seconds=3412+3864/3=2425dps (this is lower) 6 seconds=3412+3864+7872/6=2525dps 9 seconds=3412+3864+7872+2560+2560/9=2252dps 12 seconds=3412+3864+7872+2560+2560+7872/12=2345dps 18 seconds=3412+3864+7872+2560+2560+7872+2560+2560+3412+3864/18=2252dps (this is lower) 21 seconds=3412+3864+7872+2560+2560+7872+2560+2560+3412+3864+7872/21=2305dps Basically this tells us that there is no detriment to delaying the use of HiB if a CoF procs. However if you have to move and you ended with a FA then dps is greater then not delaying HiB. Add to that if you had to move at that time you'd have 2 instants available for use for HiB and DR. VS You used HiB and DR and can't use FA which then delays the use of FA. While moving now your choice is using Sticky and Hammershot or if you have Tech overide available you can GR for example. So not only did you have to use weaker hitting abilities while moving you also delayed FA usage. Granted we often find that we have to move during the middle of a FA. If you delay HiB and DR for a FA over the course of the fight FA would be interupted more often then not delaying HiB and DR as you're using FA more often. All of the above happens quite often in the course of a raid nite. Love when FA finishes and i have to move and have HiB and DR available for use while moving. Hate when i have to move in the middle of a FA. You also have to remember we have latency, server lag, etc. Meaning for example let's say you hit an ability and your latency is 50ms and the server takes 50ms to respond. That's 0.1 seconds. I'd call that the absolute best case scenario. It's actually significantly higher than that for me on my server when you add lag to that. This means the less abilities you hit provides the least amount of total response time. Since we're delaying the use of HiB and DR during a CoF proc this means we're hitting FA more often and HiB/DR less often. 1 ability vs 2. Which means less ability usage and less total response time during the course of a raid nite. Which equates to higher dps. Based on the above i believe delaying HiB and DR for a CoF FA does the greater dps during the course of a raid nite. I do like the HiB-FA-DR for the best ammo regen. However i'll stick with my way of doing it FA-HiB-DR as i'm fine with ammo regen and believe my dps would be higher overall during the course of a raid nite as i'll get more FA's in and use less abilities overall. Granted this is really dependent on the fight, your ammo regen, lag, movement, play style, etc. But i do prefer 1 rotation vs 2 rotations based on differing variables. I'm lazy like that and feel i can do better staying with 1 rotation. Now i'm not saying any of these are wrong. FA-HiB-DR or HiB-FA-DR or HiB-DR-FA, when CoF procs. Just pointing out that all 3 are viable and which i prefer and why. And forgive the math if it's slightly off. It's close enough.
