  1. actually i would, seeing as i like to see what new things they fix or attempt to fix, and what things they make improvements on, or attempt to make improvements on. And by the looks of it, a lot of people would rather spend a bit of time, on a dead day checking out PTS (if they can copy their mains etc over) and make sure that in the live servers, there is nothing else broken, so it doesn't interrupt their regular play time. If there was never any issue, yeah there would be less people willing, but also as someone else mentioned they could give fancy rewards, like what they did with patch 1.2, if you leveled a character to lvl 10 on the public test server during the testing of patch 1.2 you got the title " ___ Last Line of Defense" for all your characters. I'm probably one of 1% of people on my server (aussie server) who has that title.... and that's kinda cool... there are many ways they can make it worth while for people to check out the PTS.
  2. i completely and utterly agree with you on this one. it would make a HUGE difference. and show people that they are indeed trying to fix things to the best of their abilities, as some may be starting to wonder about by this time. And yes, i wouldn't be too bothered if they had to deploy new patches 3 times a week if it wasn't in peak hours for the aussie servers.
  3. You are one in thousands then. maybe its because the patch time doesn't affect you.... in the Australian part of the word, they do ALL these patches in prime time, generally between 5-9. which for a game we all pay for, doesn't sit right with most of us.
  4. Sorry to disappoint you but not everyone is how you discribe. Sure some might be. But i did used to check out the PTS because i was always curious what new changes they made and if they improved things. But the other thing that people who maybe couldnt write bug reports, there was the forum, the PTS forum was useful for even just posting and saying "me too" on issues. Also... look at the timing, the PTS hasnt been used since patch 1.2 has come out.... and guess what? since patch 1.2 has come out there has been what, maybe one week where we only had ONE maintence in it.
  5. No its not acceptable. it should NOT have been broken by the other patch in the FIRST place.
  6. Better idea.... USE THE PUBLIC TEST SERVERS TO CHECK OUT THE PATCHES FIRST.... then we wouldn't get as many broken patches as they SHOULD be caught there.
  7. ummmm they are still bringing the servers down, just now in aussie prime time. gee thanks.
  8. Yeah but before patch 1.2 they HAD copied over high level guilds (and members obviously). So that not really an excuse, they know how to do it.
  9. Well.... see even that is in debate for all the Beta players.... see.... in beta, we already HAD the high rez textures we only NOW get in patch 1.2. So..... what you don't know.... you don't miss..... but it still might be a loss.
  10. i tend to disagree. if they tested it properly, then there would be no need to have rushed patch jobs.... meaning we would only ever be behind a week to begin with.... meaning that things wouldn't be broke on release of patches and people would happily wait a week for non- critical issues to be address (you know, the things they know are broken but still haven't fixed, i.e. CTD's and sound issues apparently). If you don't play the PTS you wouldn't notice that you are a week behind "current" patches. and if you do play the PTS, you will be one of the ones that is happy to help find the bugs that break the game in the patches before live. Problem is..... they don't come to this simplistic realization. Edit: i do agree with the 6 month early release though.
  11. getting tired of logging on after downtime (which is prime time aussie time) and seeing people on the fleet freaking out over something new (and usually game breaking) that has been broken after a patch.... what ever happened to public test server and why aren't they testing everything for a week before the next patch (with updates on the PTS as soon as issues are found to ensure new patches on live are error free). Is it really so hard to have 2 weeks where there is only ONE downtime in each week?
  12. a rock to the face would be funny lol but i like the idea if they feel they must stick to a rock, this is one way to make it instant
  13. im in favor of this idea, and a combat log, sometimes its nice to know what hits me for how much etc. i know people dont want to bring bad dps etc into a group but i am of the belief that dps should not only be doing dps, but doing it smartly. as in, if they crit too much and pull aggro, to slow down to let the tank pick it back up, especially since this game is... lets say.... "different" and a lot of the aggro depends on how much damage the tank can do. its great to have the idea for self improvement. i just don't like the idea of people being able to tell other people that they "suck". so im against the recount idea, and up for something more as a personal damage meter/combat log. plus this way, for those who want to compare how they are doing for their class, it forces them to convers with others of the same class and "compare notes" as it were.
  14. i have far too many times seen my big rock just suspended in mid air even in PvE because a mob will die before i get the stupid animation off.... meaning.... it didnt even hit. its not fair to call it instant when its not. thats a lie.
