  1. This game has a terribly unoptimized engine or SOMETHING. Granted fast hardware will help. But there is a wall that bogs down even the most powerful systems. I have a i5-2500k at 4.6GHz, SLI GTX 570s, 8GB RAM, game is installed on a SSD for what it's worth. In most places I run at ~100 fps with maxed settings. This is more or less how it should be at all times. At HIGH settings 1920x1080p in the Ilum zerg i get 15FPS. AT MINIMUM SETTINGS AT 800x600 in the Ilum zerg I get ~20 FPS This means my hardware isn't to blame. The game simply runs like crap, absolute crap.

  3. I'll add a bump because I was actually talking about this last night on Mumble with a few guildies. Not the experiment you're trying to do... but the fact that any well thought out thread with some actual intelligent discussion about gearing / builds / theorycrafting tends to fall to the bottom with no posts.
  4. All this means is when I do 200k damage on my level 11 operative (you know, without any stealth opener and like 5 abilities where it's a struggle to crit for 2.5k) I'll be on top of the WZ instead of on top of everyone except the 1-2 level 50's with 500 expertise. And when I'm on my 540 expertise Heal-Spec Commando people aren't going to be able to fall back on the "too many lowbies" excuse for their failure and lack of skill. Instead they'll probably say "The other team has more gear than us! Then go to the forums and complain that Bioware should make gear-based brackets.
  5. QFT = Quoted for Truth, not trolling. Unless you're trolling with that response.
  6. New and unique aren't required, but you'd still have people complaining how they copied SWG's system or EQ's system. Besides I don't know what strength of rose-colored glasses YOU have for EQ, but one thing I remember about my time is do I really wanna sit in PoV/HoH/whatever again grinding out hundreds of AA points to prepare for the next tier of content? HELL no.
  7. This, I have 500 expertise and I am full Champion (except ONE piece of centurion) and I only have ~15k as a commando. I do agree geared 50's tend to roflstomp lower level characters however. Although I have queued up with my guild's alts from levels 10-12 and ran around naked going "LOLBOLSTER" and topped warzones, so it's not entirely hopeless. =P
  8. I play SWTOR sitting about 5 feet back on the couch from a 60'' LCD HDTV, it's 60Hz and usually I play with Vsync on as I agree with your points about the human eye. However I have lately been leaving vsync disabled and constantly running a fraps overlay as I'm investigating this issue. Percieved differences irregardless, numbers are numbers and these numbers indicate something is wrong with how computers are handling in fleet / to a lesser extent warzones.
  9. Something about this game just screams unoptimized. I also run SLI so I'm kind of used to games having terrible support. 1920x1080, newest drivers i5-2500k @ 4.6GHz on air (Noctua DH-14 cooler for anyone who cares, expensive but an amazing air cooler) 2x GTX570's in SLI (stock clocks) 8GB Corsair Vengance (low profile to clear the cooler, its huge) Also, game is installed on an SSD for what it's worth. (Load times are still atrocious although much faster than guildies with HDDs) All settings on high except shadows which I turned off (Don't like the "lego" look of them even with AA) I typically run 120 FPS in space missions / my ship / most open areas without much going on 70-90 FPS in OPs like Eternity Vault / Bonethrasher etc Warzones in the 60-70 FPS range (which I find to be in line with most peoples complaints. I'm still in a playable FPS but I can understand how people think it lags to death) FLEET on the other hand during peak hours I can studder into the 20-30 FPS's which is unacceptable. I understand MMOs have a lot of characters and textures and polygons on the screen. Although SWTOR shouldn't be particularly demanding and I'm not even drawing SHADOWS. I have a powerful system way beyond what SWTOR should need. No problem playing Skyrim with HD textures / models, Crysis 2 DX11, Metro 2033, BF3 on Ultra at much higher FPS. This isn't a huge annoyance but it's something that should be fixed.
  10. I don't think it has anything to do with alacrity. I have 405 alacrity and my plants / node caps still take the full time. I can't specifically remember if defusing is any faster although I don't see how it would be if the planting is the same. On a side note though I found it funny how exit area / quick travel is faster with alacrity. Brb popping alacrity adrenal / relic and ninja'ing out of called boss wipes.
  11. I would love a Freespace 1&2-esque style space combat system even if the "free flying" sections were just like zones that you travel to. Hoping for a free-travel Universe similar to EvE online is out of scope I believe. Hell even replicating Freespace's space-sim finer points like shield management, different speed / turn radii, afterburners, weapon variety and other flight mechanics etc might be asking for too much =/
  12. Are you darkside by any chance? Sith Corruption makes your character pale. Try turning it off in the options.
  13. *reposting from other thread about "is combat medic a real healer"* (Level 50 Valor Rank 41 Commando Combat Medic with ~320 Alacrity and ~330 Expertise) My comments on PvP: Our survivability is top notch. Granted I only PvP with the same premade which involves a Vanguard with 10 piece Champion who guards me. But we find ourselves able to hold a node against otherwise insurmountable odds 2v4, 4v6, etc. Obviously gear plays a role, there are players that can still gib us, and if my CC break is down certain highly-geared Operatives can kill me in essentially a stunlock 1v1. Other times there are 3 people beating on me as I reactive shield, adrenaline rush, cc break, trauma probe, and heal myself to full while /giggle'ing. No problems breaking 250k+ healing. My record has been 390k, probably could do better. My comments on PvE (Hardmode Flashpoints and Ops) AOE healing is bad compared to a Sage's. Due to unfortunate group makeup (Two Combat Medics) one night we were doing a 8m EV and AOE healing on SOA as we were jumping down the platforms was annoying, as all we could do was throw boogers (Kolto Bomb) on the ground while trying to squeeze in a AMP / Infusion / or whatever as we were racing down the platforms and not falling behind. Single Target is excellent and efficiency is where we shine. We can put out a rediculous amount of HPS and always stay in the top tier ammo regeneration unless we're spamming MP trying to rapidly heal spread out AOE damage. I'm approaching the Alacrity number to where I can get my MP down to 1.5s (currently it's at 1.6 with first responder up). Which gives us a literally "free" hammer shot every 3 MPs. Overall I'm very happy with how CM healing works. I wish for more capable AOE healing but c'est la vie.

  15. People always tend to think addons = LOLOLOL DPS NOOB DAMAGE METER SPAM Recount was amazing. And it certainly showed way more than who wasn't DPS'ing high enough. "Oh look! Jimmy has 5 CC breaks and we've only been in here 30 minutes, he's top on DPS because he's spamming cleave and making everyone's life harder to pad the stupid meters." "Oh wow! We're wiping to this raid encounter because some of our healers are running OOM, lets see what is going on. OH MY GOD THEY HAVE 50% OVERHEAL WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" "Hmmm, Bob seems to be convinced that our healers aren't doing their job properly, lets see what hit him so hard. Oh the boss through three random fireballs back to back on him. That's nearly unhealable so that's some iffy luck and hard to blame someone for."
  16. OP is trying to make us laugh. OP succeeded. Never have I seen a Open World PvP zone that encourages trading objectives while simultaneously discouraging actual PvP combat. If you insist on keeping the daily/weekly "Help the war effort" quests in then there should be something done where you can get credit for sitting at your faction's objective and killing the other side for X number of times or something. Right now I've seen people literally YELL at people of the same faction to stop killing the other side because they're trying to trade caps to get their boring quests done. Something about that tells me that Bioware missed the mark here.
  17. Ithorians or bust. Can imagine the clipping nightmare those guys would cause.
  18. Haha yup. In b4 someone posts a "PERFECT example of how UNIFIED we all are" thread.
  19. I don't know for sure but I think this is by design. Can't say I agree with it though. I was looking forward to leveling my alt entirely through PvP (since other than the class quests I've seen most of the republic side ones I feel) and it would be nice to know that I won't be clipping my valor rank because of it.
  20. Off the first page already? Guess nobody finds this funny. T_T I think it's because my title didn't have NERF or OMG, or OP in it.
  21. Just was f5'ing the forums at work instead of being a productive Engineer (nobody is in the plant anyway between Christmas and New Years except me and a few others) And I happened to notice this gem that made me chuckle. http://i.imgur.com/1LOTA.png ... On an unrelated note (because I see the humor when posts like these line up) I noticed I had this image saved from Minecraft forum I post on) http://i.imgur.com/vTVoL.png Moral of the story. I feel bad for the devs knowing they will constantly piss off a section of people with every single decision they make.
  22. Serious question lulz. I'm at work so I can't check this personally so I figured I'd ask. Hit 50 last night and already got my first duplicate piece of Champ gear. Thankfully I have a second set I can buy for my other spec. Although the prospect of getting triples or more of dissaembled tokens makes me wonder. I would IMAGINE you could give your companions whatever. But I know Bioware has made some special considerations for PvP gear/mods etc. Was just wondering if anyone tried this yet.
  23. Trooper/Commando at the moment, just hit 50, so I'm pvp'ing a lot, but when I get around to rolling an alt I'm gonna make a Sentinel that uses two Vibroswords. Just to be different. Where do you get your first moddable vibroswords?
  24. I need some of what he's having in order to hit for 5-6k or as high as 11k+ in order to actually "one/two shot" bolstered players fresh from spawn.:rolleyes:
  25. LOL everybody is so mad. Grats to the guilds clearing these instances. To everyone else though, pay attention: It's what they do to have fun. How dare you tell them they aren't allowed to play their game like this and compete against each other? How come the "It's my 15 dollars I can play how I want argument" only seems to be applied in defense of people who get carried through instances and wear inferior gear and use inferior specs? Sure they can do that, it's their 15 dollars, and the other 15 people in their operations group pay $225/month to say they're holding them back and have every right to kick them. But I digress. The no life argument is flawed too. It's not hard to get to 50 in this game. Sure there are unemployed basement-dwellers in some of these guilds, but other people I've seen just know how to play the game, leveled to 50 a few times in beta, and took maybe a few PAID vacation days from their FULL TIME CAREERS. I didn't, but then again I only have 3 weeks of paid vacation. Even still, I'm going to hit 50 this evening... While working 8am-5pm full time, going home for Christmas and spending time with my family / girlfriend, and I didn't even get in until the 3rd day of early access. Anyway, grats again. And looking forward to seeing the nightmare 16 clears.
