  1. I looked around and i was sure there wasnt any tread regarding acronyms, oh well guess i missed it.
  2. For people who are new to MMOs in general the acronyms used in chat can be a bit confusing at first. So i thought it would be helpful to make a list of often used acronyms to help them understand whats meant by it. Party/Group acronyms LFG: Means Looking for Group. This person is looking to join a group for something, can be quest or flashpoints/operations. LFM: Means Looking for More. Part of a group searching for more players to complete their group. HM: Means Hard Mode. Either used to describe quests that require more players to complete or Flashpoints/Operations on hard difficulty. Tank: A player who defends his/her allies by taking the damage from enemies and making sure they do not get hit. DPS: Means Damage per Second and can refer to 1 of two things. 1: Players who focus on doing damage in parties and 2: as a way of expressing the damage you do. Example "my dps is really low". Healer: (Im sure you can guess this but for completion i'll do it anyway) Means a player who heals his/her party. Omw: Means On My Way. Used by players to let their party know they are moving to them/the meeting point. Also used in player versus player combat to tell you are reinforcing some location. Ops: An often used acronym for Operations. FE: Refers to the Flashpoint False Emporer. D7: Refers to the Flashpoint Directive 7. MP: Refers to the Flashpoint Maelstrom Prison (a republic side flashpoint). Trade acronyms WTS: Means Want to Sell. This player is trying to sell his items/materials. WTB: Means Want to Buy. This player is looking to buy something. WTT: Means Want to Trade. A player looking to trade some gear/materials to something else. (Not so often used but i've seen it some times now). PST: Means Please Send Tell. Used in conjunction with WTB, WTS or LFM or when you say or ask something over chat channels where you would prefer a response via tell/whisper. Combat acronyms PvP: Stands for Player versus Player combat. PvE: Means Player versus Environment. Basically everything that is not Player versus Player combat, also includes Flashpoints and Operations. DoTs: Means Damage Over Time Ablities. These can applied to opponents but opponents can also apply them to you. HoTs: Means Healing Over Time Ablities. Healers (and a few other abilites) can cast these on allies to recover health over time. Enemies can use these as well. CC Means Crowd Control. The incapacitation of enemies, making them unable to act. These can include, stuns, immobilizing, blinding and more. AoE: Means Area of Effect. Some abilities that do damage/heal over an area. Inc: Means Incoming. Used most often in player versus player combat to tell teammates that the other team has attackers incoming. Proc: Means Programmed Random Occurrence - any effect that is triggered when certain criteria are met. LoS: Means Line of Sight - usually needed to target an enemy or ally with direct abilities such as damage or healing. May also be used as a method of starting an encounter by making certain enemies come to you (referred to as the LoS Pull) Pull: A term used for initiation of combat, usually performed by the tank Threat: Used to determine NPC targetting; measurement of how dangerous the system views each party member Agro: used to identify which player has the MOST threat, and therefore the attention of the enemy (note: you may hear reference to 'pulling threat' or 'pulling agro' - these are synonymous and means one player has exceeded the threat level of another and therefore attracted the attention of the enemy) Mob: Mobile Object - any entity in the game that is not controlled by a player Pat: Patrol - mobs that wander and engage players when close enough Adds: Any mobs that enter combat after the initial pull - this can be expected and planned for as a normal part of any encounter, or accidental if a player either gets too close to another group, or a wandering patrol (pat) gets in range. Stack: often used in high level content and instructs party members to gather up in a tight group ("stack" on top of each other) for any number of reasons dealing with mechanics of the fight Fire: often used as a generic term to indicate any effect that can be avoided by player movement - Don't stand in Fire (note: may not actually look like 'fire') I cannot think of any more but feel free to add those i miss (im sure i miss most of the flashpoint ones). Edit: thanks for adding some, ive put them in the list, hope you dont mind .
