  1. Because and in-game email that says "Please be sure you spend your command tokens, and use your CXP boosts before October 22nd" was extremely complicated and apparently is rocket science to send.
  2. You're right. I only play the game. I don't waste my time reading tweets on twitter, and until today don't need to spend time on the forums. I don't pay for my game to read forums. I pay for it to play. What a concept.
  3. I am glad you spend your life perusing through thousands of forums posts and live your life on twitter. I do not. I play the game, and expect to be communicated to in game for in game communications. That is not an unreasonable request. Do you expect your work communications to be submitted to you through work, or through some third party service like twitter? Of course, if you're one of them people that looks down at their phone constantly, I guess the answer is obvious.
  4. Well, I must not have "everyone" on my friends list. Really?
  5. Are you also going to give us back our CXP items? How about giving us back our Command Tokens. We should at least have been provided the opportunity to spend them before you willy nilly took them away. There was no mention of them being taken away. No Email to "spend them before the 22nd of October" - No notification at all. Great Job guys. You know how you are trying to improve communications? Massive Failure Eric.
  6. I have to agree, Taris is my big gripe planet. Just when you think you get to move on, theres more you need to do. Granted bonus series is not required, but I feel I must do all the quests before moving on, so psychologically I feel like I must do the bonus series.
  7. Sorry, I honestly don't know what I pay, it is auto-debited from my card, if its $15.99, then we can recalculate it at $15.99, which puts it @ $7.6 Million. Its still plenty of money to hire developers to work on bug fixes. Based upon the following subscription rates, it appears that your paying too much @ $15.99 http://www.swtor.com/support/helpcenter/1944
  8. I actually did do very short posts on each of these topics at other times, but to no avail. So I figured maybe I should be extremely detailed this time. But thanks for the compliment on it being a good read. I wanted to post this to Dev Tracker, but evidently only dev's can. I am more concerned that anyone posting with the volume of posts, that they are not read by the people who need to read them, which begs the question "How do we get this into the hands of the devs?"
  9. What is your favorite part of the game? Warzones? Playing Asteroids in your Ship? - What is trivial to one is not for another. I do not care for playing asteroids in my ship, nor do I really care about Warzones. So I could say those aspects of the game are "trivial" simply because I find them to be a time sink. But I at least recognize that everyone has what they enjoy and I can respect everyone's desire to enjoy the aspects of the game they want to enjoy without trivializing what they enjoy simply because "I" do not find it something that "I" enjoy. Some of us enjoy the hide and seek aspect of datacron hunting. And if that is an enjoyable part of the game for some, then it's not trivial to them. Besides, by the time your done with the datacrons, you end up with close to 40-60 points added to all of your stats (no I havn't calculated it to the exact number cause I find doing that kind of research to be a time sink). I'm not so certain that would be "trivial" - you can't even get gear to boost your stats permanently by 60 points. Maybe you havn't looked at datacrons throughout the game, but they are not all +1 stats, there are +4 stats and even at current end game a +10 to ALL stats datacron.
  10. Summarization: Discuss frustrations in SWTOR that may be one of the causes for people being disappointed and leaving the game. Problems encountered from my viewpoint include jump mechanics, falling through solid objects, getting stuck and having to wait to use the /stuck command and Keyboard mappings for camera angle control ================================================================================ People don't watch TV to be angered or frustrated. With enough frustration with TV, they would simply stop watching TV and find other "enjoyable" entertainment activities. People don't take a stroll through the park on nice day to get irritated, and if every time they did, they got irritated, they would stop strolling through the park (or at least that park). People don't go out to a nice dinner to be hassled, and if were continually hassled, they would stop eating at the restaurant where they are hassled at and find another restaurant that is enjoyable. People don't go to an amusement park with the expectation of disappointment. If they are consistently disappointed, then they would stop going to the amusement park. Each of the above activities are forms of "entertainment" - SWTOR is also a form of entertainment. Bioware is in the business of "entertaining people" People don't get onto play SWTOR to be frustrated. If a person does get frustrated, why continue to use SWTOR as the form of entertainment, why not find another form of entertainment that is NOT frustrating. EA Reported over 400,000+ players leaving SWTOR by Februrary 2012, which is only 2 1/2 months after game release. These people left for various reasons, I know some of those reasons are the fact the game has so many bugs in it which cause levels of frustration. Let's assume that only 10% left because of frustration issues. That means that EA has lost 40,000 players due to frustration which equates to a lost yearly revenue (@$19.95/mo) of $9.5 million. That's enough money to hire 90 new developers @ $100,000/year salary to fix "bugs". Realistically, you probably only need a staff of 10 new developers @ $100,000/year and you could actually still have a profit of $8.5 million by not loosing 40,000 players over these frustration issues. I am not going to post that I'm ready to leave, but I will say this, the more I play and these types of things occur, the less I want to play. EA has done such a great job in this game in many areas. In many ways its a revolution to MMORPG, but you need to fix the problems that cause frustration instead of worrying about new content. Your AVID and DEDICATED players will stay (as long as they aren't frustrated) - There is plenty of time to create new content. I played DDO for 6 years before getting tired of it. The content of SWTOR at game release is 10 times the content of DDO 6 years after DDO was released. I still played DDO (and to this day, still have an active subscription) and the first set of new content wasn't released for 2 years after game release. Turbine was very good at fixing bugs. Because we continued to see them get fixed, we were patient and continued to play. So I'm sure everyone has their level of frustration on various aspects of the game, and I encourage you to post those frustrations to this thread so we can help EA with knowledge of what the player community would like to see fixed. Here are a couple of my frustrations: 1) Jump Mechanics - Probably the worst jump mechanics of any MMORPG I have ever seen. Jump and you bounce to the left or right, jump and you don't jump. Run and then Jump and you miss the jump. Jump and then run and you don't run. I was joking with another player who was playing a female sith who spent 10 minutes trying to jump up on some boxes and his character kept bouncing to left or right instead of simply jumping on the box. I told him it was his characters b00bs that were causing his character to bounce left or right, hoping the levity would ease his frustration. Jumping should not be as complicated as it is in this game. Can you guys not fix it? Its frustrating to the point that tonight I decided to log off and I will explain why in the next section. The game is supposed to be fun, not frustrating. 2) Falling through objects. How many you have decided to do an emote on the balloon on Tatooine (because we need something to do on the boring 45 minute trip) only to fall to the ground. How many have jumped up on the flying bot (sith side) in Nar Shadaa only to fall to the ground right through the bot. How many have fallen through the helicopter in Corellia? Come on guys. If your going to provide moving objects that we must spend 45 minutes on to get to a datacron (the 45 minutes is ridiculous enough) then at least make it to where the object is stable. Tonight I was going after the Datacron on Nar Shadda where I must jump on the floating robot (which I guess now has holo-signs (and didn't just 3 days ago), evidently putting holo-signs on it was more important than fixing the bug) - After waiting 20 minutes for it to get to me, I jump on it successfully. I have come to the conclusion that its best to turn off companions when on these types of objects to prevent the Many different bugs that can occur. So I have Malavai Quinn turned off, thus no healer. 4 minutes of peace on the flying bot, then WHAM, a droid on patrol targets me halfway up in the air. Starts shooting at me. I cannot do anything (cause Sith Warriors at that level can only throw their lightsaber with a cooldown IF YOU HAVE RAGE built up, but you cannot do that cause you can't build rage without being in melee range, which you cannot do 50 feet in the air) - all I can do is shield myself (for what, 15 seconds) and still take damage, I can use one Heal Stim Per fight. I cannot call my companion out to heal me because Im in a fight (started by the bot 50 feet below me), and all I can do is stand and take damage until I die (after waiting 20 min just to get on the darn flying robot). So some might say "well, you should have cleared the area" - I DID, but the respawn rate is so fast when there are so many people in the area that its impossible to keep it cleared for the 20 min you must wait for the flying bot to make its way around. So fine, 20-30 min of WAITING for the bot, only to die cause of a patrol bot that seems to target in 3D while I'm way above its head. So I am patient (only 50% frustrated at this point) and I go wait another 20 minutes for the bot to come back around. This time, I jump on the bot, I do not have my companion (again, to prevent bugs from occurring) and WHAM, after spending 3 min on the flying bot, I fall THROUGH the solid surface of the Bot Im standing on. I wasn't even touching my mouse or keyboard. For no reason at all, I just fall through the flying bot that I have been standing on for 3 minutes. At that point, I gain the other 50% frustration (50+50 = 100% frustrated), I'm done for the night. What was supposed to be a night of FUN, has turned into a night of FRUSTRATION. This is not the first time I've been frustrated over jumping or falling through objects. 3) No Camera Angle Keyboard Mappings. Not all players play with the mouse. I've posted the request to have mappable keyboard strokes to move camera angle up, down, around left and around right (like other MMORPG's provide) Still this has not been implemented. Frustration levels of being forced to play with a mouse when I do much better with a keyboard. 4) Getting stuck. Ok, now this one is very irritating. /stuck is supposed to "move your character a few feet away from where it got stuck at" - Sometimes the game will auto-unstick you, but 80% of the time, it teleports you 50 yards away. Hello? I mean, I've done spent the last 10 min jumping on boxes, then on canopies, running up and down pipes and scaffolding, crossing rivers and through the woods and almost at Grandma's house and the auto-unstick moves me back to the beginning. Why couldn't it move to where I was say 10 seconds BEFORE I got stuck? So, lets talk about when the auto-unstick DOESNT work. So I try to get loose, by strafing left, right, going forward, backwards, jumping, moving diagonal. I try every thing I can think of. Now I type "/stuck" and the first message that pops up is "you must wait 90 seconds to use this again" - HELLO? That's the first time I used it, why do I have to wait 90 seconds to "use /stuck the first time". I suspect that the game tried to "auto-unstick" so therefore the game "auto-used" my first attempt at getting unstuck and it failed. I mean 90 seconds? Come on. When I discussed this issue with a GM, I was told people were exploiting it in warzones. I don't care if people try to use /stuck in a warzone to teleport, just cause they exploit it, doesn't mean everyone else must be punished as a result. So in essence, those that DO NOT exploit end up being the ones to suffer due to those that do exploit it. Well, if you teleport the character to someplace that was 5 seconds or 10 seconds before the current spot, then it isn't going to much matter that they teleported because most likely where they were 5 to 10 seconds before they tried to exploit it is where they are currently standing. The only reason I can see someone to exploit that is to get out of situation of dieing. They are only going to be in a situation of dying if they have been fighting, and that means fighting for at least 5 seconds (for a badly built character) before they have a need to teleport, and if they are fighting, they are standing still. Don't punish those that actually DO GET STUCK cause of errors in the landscape simply because of those that exploit it in warzones. You can find other solutions to the exploit problem than making someone wait 90 seconds, then 2 minutes, etc. If you have the creative talent at EA to build a game like SWTOR with all of its complexity, then surely that same talent can brainstorm a better mechanic that cannot be exploited in a warzone. Now I know, as a software developer myself, that bugs happen, but the frustrating part is when we report the bugs, YOU DON'T LISTEN The jump Issue I reported back in December. The falling through objects issues I have seen was reported in another forum post several months ago. The issue of keyboard mappings to control camera view was requested months ago. Why are you working on new content when you need to fix the current issues.
  11. I don't mind that they have to restart servers (after all things happen), but since it wasn't an emergency and they knew at least 30 min before they started the restarts that they could have sent in-world notifications as a courtesy. I also do not believe this is a server restart issue. Even 80x86 processors can reboot faster. I think Bioware has simply indicated that its a server restart (all worlds, west coast, east coast, Europe and Asia) but is more likely an emergency bug fix as there shouldn't be a need to restart servers in 4 parts of the world all at the same time to resolve a lag issue since each server would be using its own routers, in different data centers, etc. etc.
  12. Please, can we have 5 keys mappable to change camera angle with keyboard. Not everyone uses the mouse to play and this game has been designed assuming mouse play. Mappable Key One: Defaults to Page Up: Moves Camera Angle Up while press and hold Mappable Key Two: Defaults to Page Down: Moves Camera Angle Down while Press and hold Mappable Key Three: Defaults to End : Resets Camera Angle to regular viewing plane when pressed Mappable Key Four: Defaults to Numeric 4: Rotates Camera Angle Left Mappable Key Five: Defaults to Numeric 6: Rotates Camera Angle Right Dungeons and Dragons online has all of these mappable keys and it makes keyboard play so simple. WoW does not have these mappable keys, and its frustrating to play WoW. Same with SWTOR, because these are not mappable, a person who plays solely using the keyboard must constantly grab the mouse to move the camera angle when going up or down hills. Since keyboard players typically will use up arrow to move forward, down to move back, left to move left and right to move right, this means your character must STOP moving while you move your hand to the mouse to change camera angle, then move hand back to keyboard to start going forward again with the up arrow and if the terrain changes again, you must stop again, move hand to mouse, change camera angle them continue moving forward With the page-up, page-down and end keys right above the arrow keys, you can keep your middle finger on the up arrow while using ring finger to press page-up, page-down, or end as the case may be to move angle to match the terrain. Wow solved this problem with an auto-camera angle change feature, but that was frustrating because the angle of the camera changed slower than the character moved. Implementing control on the keyboard allows the player to decide when to move the camera angle (don't do it like WoW did, please) By making the keys mappable, those that use A, S, W and Z can map the left side of their keyboard to change camera angles. Please implement this. I know my game play will be much more enjoyable if I don't have to constantly stop moving forward just to grab a mouse and change camera angles. Thank you.
  13. I assume the reason for the server moves is Bioware realized they have too many servers for the subscriber base. I applaud Bioware for allowing server moves to more populated servers. However, if Bioware cannot manage the server loads and plans to continue to "OVERLOAD" servers causing 30+ minute wait times for logging in, then that will be enough to send people back to other games such as DDO or WoW. This is just bad resource management.
