  1. Mixed feelings for me. I love the game, the stories, the people I meet in it. Despite the flaws I found SWTOR a game that's easy to fall in love with. I have no idea if going F2P will benefit the game or not. My fear is that it might destroy the game I've grown attached to. But I'll be staying around for sure, if only to see what would happen next.
  2. If BioWare is awesome in his opinion, and opinions by nature could neither be right nor wrong, how can you call BS on it? And I am extremely interested to hear your definition of "one-dimensional", followed by a list of what you believe to be NON-one dimensional games. The hilarity that ensues would probably be great entertainment.
  3. Could you please edit the first post and put all the comics there so far? that way, it's easy to see how many comics there are...
  4. Could you please edit the first post and put all the memes there? it's nicer to see all of them inone place...
  5. ^This. I don't use twitter either, and I visit the forums whenever I need information about the game. What sense does it make to open a separate, third-party website for SWTOR information when I ALREADY HAVE THE OFFICIAL SWTOR WEBSITE OPEN?! Is it so impossible to have the information made available BOTH at Twitter and the website???
  6. If I bought a story-driven game, subscribed to a story-driven game, and want to watch the story in said story-driven game, what gave you the right to make me spacebar through it? "Don't be selfish and make 3 people wait". Who gave you the authority to instantly assume that each and every one in the team [except one] wants to skip too? What if there are two other people who want to do it in story mode-- who bails out of the group then? "You should tell everyone that you want to do story mode if you're not gonna skip". Most of the people who want to watch the cutscenes are new to the cutscenes. There is a large possibility too that they have never seen the cutscenes because they are new to the flashpoint. Which also leads to the small possibility that they are NEW TO THE GAME. How the hell are they supposed to know what "story mode" you're talking about? I agree with what the other posters said: the default mode is story mode, because this is-- surprise! -- a story-based MMO. If you wanna race through the scenes, YOU look for people who want to skip the cutscenes. It doesn't work the other way around, where people who want to watch the cutscenes are persecuted for wanting so.
  7. OH MY FREAKING GOD. Can't stop laughing, so hard XD I love these memes. I'm a 9gag fan and these are worthy of 9gag [if only more people knew SWTOR!!!!!] PLEASE MAKE MOAR!!!!!!
  8. ^ Beat me to it. Most people do advise going DPS or at the most hybrid when doing PVE content. Never tried a damage-specced sage though; always had a seer build [healer] all throughout simply because that's what I'm comfortable with. I also want to specialize in healing; i.e. have a healer's mindset in any given situation. IMHO you can only specialize in something if you keep practicing it. How can I be a good healer at PVP if I'm switching to DPS whenever I tackle PVE content? Meeeh. It's your game, do whatever you feel like. =)
  9. I'd also like to know who died and gave this company the right to tell players to back off from uploading their SWTOR videos. If I'm a gamer and interested in SWTOR but wanted to check out the gameplay first, YouTube would be the first place I'd go to. If I don't see any videos for it in YT, i'd assume not a lot of people are playing it, or like it enough or care enough about the game to actually post about it. That would really make me think twice about playing the game! And marketing company? There is no better marketing than your very own customers. If your customers are promoting your product even if you don't pay them, then why in the seven circles of hell are you going to stop them?
  10. Please, could you please hold my hand through this? Heal is my priority in PVP, secondary is slowing people down, disabling, etc. Highest heal I've managed so far is 300k, but that's only once. Just started on lvl 50 warzones, so I have no idea what I'm doing... 1. So I get the recruit set right off the bat. I was told that the best battlemaster gear for seers is 2 pieces of the Force Mystic and the rest as Force Master. Is this ok? I have the force mystic robe and headgear so far, and the Force Master lower robe. 2. What battlemaster implants/earpieces do i get? 3. Which War Hero set do i choose in the future? Aaaand... that's all I could think of so far... largely because I have other questions that will depend on what answers i'll get >_<
  11. Im going to hell for laughing at this... LOL!! LOL!! wait whut--
  12. Glued to the screen waiting on the last 35 seconds before my Qyzen Fess returned from his Treasure Hunting mission. At 20 seconds remaining BAM! My game died D:
  13. Don't say it too loud or they might notice you and shut the forums down! >.<
  14. Tons of people already replied with good responses to your supposed "dilemma", and all you did was shoot them down because they are "not efficient enough". Let's review what we've got so far: 1. DISMISS/RESUMMON: 2 seconds. YOUR ANSWER: "Now if you choose to dismiss/re-summon your companion, that is AT MINIMUM 2 seconds. .5 seconds to dismiss and 1.5 seconds to summon. Add that up for EVERY SINGLE ENEMY FACED FOR A SINGLE LEVEL, and we are talking longer than a crew mission at mid level." I average 2 days before gaining A SINGLE LEVEL. [depending on whether i'm doing pure PVP or just watching the GTN market on the fleet] One mid-level crew mission [level 20-is to 33] takes about 5 minutes. Are you saying you CANNOT tolerate 5 minutes out of about 8 hours of gameplay to heal your companion? If you're really, REALLY bothered by that half-second lost using resummon instead of mount/dismount, I suggest you sit back and re-evaluate your reasons for playing an MMO. Because I don't think you realize that in a virtual world, you *are* wasting a lot of time doing stuff that amount to really NOTHING, and being "efficient" in an MMO only means being "efficient" at wasting time. And you use recuperate after EVERY SINGLE ENEMY? Meaning if you fight the next mob at 70-80% HP, you are completely guaranteed to DIE??? I mean..... if that was me, I'd start checking my equipment and my tank's, ask around what I'm doing wrong. Maybe your comp is probably terribly geared to begin with, or you're not fighting efficiently. If you're not fighting efficiently, then it's not the companion we've got efficiency problems with. 2. MOUNT/DISMOUNT: 1.5 seconds. YOUR ANSWER: The speeder trick requires being outside. So what? If you can't mount/dismount, option 1 is still there. Mount is simply a quicker option than number 1, and only costs .5 seconds longer. 3. USE A DIFFERENT COMPANION. WHY USE A TANK? YOUR ANSWER: There is no real reason to use them in the game. Personally, on my Mercenary, i would LOVE to have Blizz out all the time as he is just awesome. But using him makes leveling quite slow and cumbersome. Not hard by any means, just slow when compared to Gault or Mako. So you admit that you have the option to use other companions, but you want to use your tank. You are aware of the consequences of using a tank [i.e. NEED TO HEAL], but you still want to use your tank. So your solution is to make a tank need less heal? Every companion has a strength and a weakness. Ranged comps don't need heal as much since they shoot from far away, but once the enemies catch up to them they're toast. Healer companions don't need heal from you because they can heal themselves, but they really can't do much damage. Now tanks, their main job is, get this, TAKE DAMAGE. Naturally, you have to heal them. If tanks were to remain tanks but did not need much healing, or could be healed in less than 2 seconds between fights, you're basically making them invincible, and people will find little reason to use any other companion. Really, you already found the answer to your question here. You said it yourself, you use another companion since you find it more efficient to use them. News flash, certain classes go well with certain companions. If your class isn't having a grand time levelling with its tank, get another companion that will suit your class. Otherwise, this thread is all about you trying to stick with your tank when you shouldn't, and insisting to get it your way. 4. Take up Bioanalysis and make heal stims that heal both you and your companion. Those Healstims are 100 times better than any you can get off venders! YOUR ANSWER: Except someone already mentioned, it would require HAVING Biochem and possibly Bioanalysis and then to craft those companion medpacks. And that is almost like making those two crew skills ''required'' for leveling. Back to number 3. Some companions go well with certain classes. If you insist using a tank even though it's obviously giving you a hard time, then you have to make certain concessions. YES, if you want to keep your tank alive, get Biochem. If being required to stick with Biochem hurts your feelings, then don't get a tank. TO SUM IT UP: Really, 1 and 2 should be sufficient but I wanted to address every pompous demand I've seen on this ridiculous thread and make sure I don't leave any standing, in case it breeds and spreads cancer. But hey, somewhere down the road maybe you can stand in the middle of the fleet, bragging how "efficient" you were as you tried to get to 50, that you didn't even agree to spend 2 seconds healing your tank, while everyone else looks at you quizzically since they have already reached 50 months before you did, and nobody remembers hreaing anyone else ever giving a flying f**k to the 2 seconds they spent healing their companions.
  15. Same here. Never want to play Imperial. EVER. But it would be highly interesting if you could switch factions. Shouldn't be hard to develop a story around it; the sage class quest already includes several instances of betrayals from allies. And there's one where you save an "ill" Jedi Master, and his last words to you would be to never trust the Republic. "You may be the hero now, but..." So it's not so hard to see a Republic switching to the Imperial side. It would probably take a lot of 'pushing', though... But I bet it would be tons more interesting if an Imperial were to switch to Republic. I'd love to see the emotional conflict in a bad guy trying to turn good ..... *sigh*
  16. Didn't read 95% of replies, but regarding what the OP said [about EU laws allowing resale of game software] If you're an active subscriber you know that the product code is everything. Not the CD, but the product code that was printed on a small sheet of paper together with your game. So, yeah sure, you could resell your software, but if the product code has been used, then you're basically selling useless software to the buyer. Will SWTOR have a problem with you reselling your software? Guess not. But your buyer would. I guess that's what makes subscription-based games different from, say, console games. You can buy a PlayStation game and play it, get tired of it, and sell it to someone else, who can then play it, get tired of it, then sell it, ad infinitum. Don't know this new EU law and it's entirety, but I guess my question is, is the product code considered "part" of the software? i.e. If this was a graphic editing software such as PhotoShop, if you resell your product are you supposed to give the product key too?
  17. This is amazing, reminds me of Ragnarok Online-- The progression there is like : Novice > Swordsman > Knight > Crusader > Paladin But it was common for some people to stay Novice until level 99. And Novices have only two skills, "Play Dead" and "First Aid." ANYWAY, on topic: it's crazy, but amazing nonetheless. Wonder if anyone would dare try level to 50 without a weapon??
  18. Just wanted to trop in and say that I love this companion more than my own character. =_= too bad he's not romanceable.
  19. planetary commendation conversion is very open to abuse. That's the reason why it was taken out. Because with commendation conversion, in theory you can get any planetary commendation by farming enough tython comms or some other starter planet's comms. Just have the planetary comms exchanged for credits.
  20. I think what you're hinting at generally would be guild-contested areas [as opposed to faction-contested areas] Story wise I don't think it would be plausible to have a single guild take over an entire planet... Even Alderaan has several "Houses" fighting over it. However, contested guild capital ships would probably be awesome. It will fit nicely to the storyline [people banding together to conquer a ship that they can use for their factions' noble purposes]
  21. BEST ONES: 6. It's Always Sunny on Tattoine 5. Ewoking on Sunshine 4. <Your Companion> 3. <Like a Voss> 2. <It burns when i PVP> 1. During beta I was on Ord Mantell and a smuggler named Planet was shouting about how awesome it'll be in a few seconds when he got his title of Captain. MORE!!!! for the love of god....
  22. Because population takes time to adjust to. Taking your pizza example, imagine if you invited friends over to share the food with you. You sent your invitation to a fixed number of people, so you get a pretty good idea how many would go there. But you can't really predict with perfect accuracy how many would actually arrive, such as if your friends suddenly decide to bring their wives, girlfriends, etc. If there was a sudden influx of people, of course it would be crowded. But you'll have to adjust, make more pizza, get more chairs for guests. Maybe i'm just stupid, but just observing what's happening to our server I think that's exactly what BioWare has done: upped the server capacity. Freedon Nadd. I've been playing here for 2 months and never had to queue. Average of 190-210 people on fleet at peak times. When server transfer began, queue was hitting at 1 hour. When I get in, I see 210~230 people on fleet. A few days later [can't remember, since i wasn't looking out for anything in particular to happen] queeu was at 35 minutes. Fleet is at 220~230, with TWO instances. Now that is new to me, as coming from Ragnarok Online I am not familiar with the idea behind instancing towns or areas. Anyway, last time I checked, queue is at 20 minutes, just as you noted. But I didn't go in, because I didn't want to have to wait. But when I did get in, it was OFF peak hours and yet there are still two instances of the fleet, and 245 people in the instance I'm in. I don't know what's the point of complaining about queues. If you don't fall in line in the stores that you go to, maybe it's not a very popular store or a very crowded one. Indeed, there are games with no queues. Why not try going there instead? My 245~ fleet won't miss one person. Oh, you're still here? Then shut up and get in line.
  23. what can you suggest? Lvl 50 sage, healer/seer build, prefer crit build... there's Force Mystic, Force Master, etc. which one do I choose?
  24. And while we're waiting for an answer, I also want to know, WHEN do you get credited for it, the moment your friend hits subscribe, or the moment their free 30 days is over and get the first bill? Will using a gametime card bypass this? [since a gametime card will be equivalent to immediate payment]
