  2. Then you wouldn't be training them to be Jedi. I would much rather get the ability to use a Legacy character as a companion. Although, I feel like it would be difficult to actually accomplish that, it would be a nice Legacy bonus.
  3. I'm going to preface this by saying, there are many more important things to be worked on in this game. HOWEVER, I would eventually like to see some new models for both Jedi Robes and Vibroblades. I love Jedi, and I love the hood look that mode it into the game. However, I can't stand the "Bill Belichick" style robes everyone gets. I understand why it's practical for Knights, who wear armor. However we should have the choice to look like this, not like this. Also, I would love to see some more blade style vibro blades in the game. I would love to see some KOTOR Style or Tales of the Jedi Style blades make it into the game. These Glow Stick/faux-lightsaber style blades just look like garbage. Granted there are a couple blade style weapons, but they are far and few in-between, and the best ones are Tech Blades, which not every melee class has access to.
  4. I would love to see this game evolve into more Sandbox than Themepark. Hopefully, if we stick it out, and, no offense, when all the Hardcore MMO/PVPers finally move on to the next "newest/greatest" MMO we can get some stuff ironed out that is more creative, not designed to appease those who rushed to 50 for endgame content in a new game. Straying from topic. I would love to see the ability to create settlements on planets, especially as many of them have tons and tons of wide-open areas. Then there would also be open-PVP battles for control of Player created territory, which would be much better than some of the arena PVP we do have (I'm looking at you Huttball). Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing how this game evolves, and hopefully it is more player generated content. Voiced Storylines are great, but let us create our own stories too, especially as this would mesh wonderfully with the Legacy system.
  5. I don't know that this fits in with this game as much. You do get a padawan as both a Jedi Knight and Consular. And SPOILER ALERT, you get companions as Inquisitor and Warrior too that are dark-jedi. The making companions Jedi in KOTOR 2 was part of the storyline, there were barely any Jedi left after the sith hunted them down, so you were training force sensatives into Jedi so the whole religion wouldn't die. All your companions in the canon story became "The Lost Jedi" who re-formed the Jedi Council after the plot of the game. Although, personally, I can't picture Atton Rand on the Jedi council. Mira, Bao-Dur, Visas, Mical and Brianna all fit "the mold" but Atton just seems too hotheaded to be on the council. Plus, if you could train all your companions to be Jedi, people who rolled Smugger, Trooper, Agent and BH would qq because they had no Jedi and Force Users could convert to 5 Jedi companions.
  6. I agree that there should be some system of changing Legacy names, but I think having toons in both factions is a weak argument. Luke Skywalker and Anakin Skywalker were on opposite sides of a war. Same with Ulic and Cay Qel-Droma. Hell, it happens in real life, how many families were divided during the American Civil War? However, in the meantime, a possible temp solution, esp for different species, could be to use your "first" name as both name and surname. Then either have no legacy or the "legacy name" legacy option. If Han and Chewie were created in this game as player characters, don't you think Chewie would be part of the Solo legacy? Especially with Chiss characters, their naming convention is a long string connected by apostrophes. This is how I handled different species on my legacy. My Chiss BH has a Chiss name and "The Orga'an Legacy" after it, signifying that he is not related, but still connected to the rest of my characters.
  7. This is why I started rolling Tank and Heals toons when I started having trouble finding groups. DPS is fun, esp for leveling, but fulfilling a more useful role helps a great deal when looking to group in general chat.
  8. Thanks all. I didn't realize orange craft able was more prevalent since the patch, I picked slicing scavenging and UWT for my crew skill so I didn't have to worry about it much. Guess I should switch to armormech or something with craftables. Also, has BioWare mentioned anything about medium and heavy social armor? I know they're supposed to be for looks not purpose, but it gives Sages and Sorcs a huge early game advantage no one else gets.
  9. I've been playing a Jedi Sage and Using social and pilot gear to give myself a moddable edge in the game. I have now rolled a Bounty Hunter and can't seem to find much orange gear. I have orange weapons, and multiple chest pieces. I have yet to acquire any other orange gear through level 21. What is the best way to do so? I've noticed other folks getting orange gear while we're doing heroics, am I just getting the bad luck of the draw then?
  10. From the Wookiepedia "The range of possible Twi'lek skin colors was extremely diverse, including green, orange, brown, yellow, blue, gray, pink, black, white, red, and purple, all in varying shades and hues. Other types of Twi'leks included the particularly rare turquoise-skinned Twi'leks, known as Rutian Twi'leks, and the rarest red pigment of the Lethan Twi'leks, whose skin color was caused by a mutation of the genetic code." The mention of genetic mutation for the red Lethan Twi'lek suggests that skin pigment is indeed genetic. Therefore, it would be reasonable to assume that the skin color would be the same or similar to the mothers. However, as with real human genetics, sometimes there are recessive traits that are revealed in later generations.
  11. I'd love to see Pazak make a comeback. And Swoop Racing too, although I'd prefer racing swoops to drag racing like in KOTOR.
  12. Yesh, that's a rather negative outlook. STO took two years to go F2P and that games ground combat was so awkward I didn't even finish my free month of play. I think all the MMO die-hards complaining about lack of end-game (not knocking you btw, its a concern a lot of people have) aren't taking into account the large player-base(presumably, due to the franchise) satisfied to simply play a Star Wars game which, imo, does offer a fairly good amount of "SP" content. Edit - Didn't realize the thread was so long and my responses were back-to-back and redundant.
  13. Question, being relatively new to MMO's, what is the "standard practice" on selecting need for orange equipment that doesn't fit your class, but that you plan on modding for your strengths because you like the look of it?
  14. "Difficult to see. Always in motion is the future. " I will however say this. I'm generally not an MMO guy, I never played WoW. I did however dabble in the Beta for STO, which, despite having fun ship-to-ship combat, at time of release, suffered greatly in the ground combat area. For this reason, I stopped playing even before my free month ran out. When they went free-to-play recently, I logged back in to see how their ground combat changes had been applied. I was unsurprised to learn that there were many people who had stuck around through the initial period, suffered through the lacking endgame, and still played. This will be the case with SWTOR as well. With hugely popular franchises like Star Wars and Trek, there are people who play the games simply to enjoy the sci-fi universe it takes place in. For every person who quits because "there's nothing to do after lvl 50" there will be some die-hards who don't quit simply because they like Star Wars. Maybe there will be some server merges, maybe not. I know personally, I enjoy the stories I've been playing so far, and plan on playing through at least a few of them, after all, I did enjoy multiple playthroughs of both KOTOR games, at least here different classes have different plots. Hopefully, by the time I get a character or 2 to level 50, there will be more to do and some more bugs will be fixed and features implemented. Bioware has proved before they know how to spin a good Star Wars yarn, and imo, they've done it again here.
