  1. True, but equally anyone that claims it won't give significant advantage is plain wrong.
  2. Actually I think they know fine well what most people interpret the word "may" as - advertising departments have known this for years. Advertising has been a science since the 1930's. And the reason why they use it is because they know it bring in the $$$'s (whilst still offering plausible deniability). I don't have any problem with the way they are launching SWTOR really, but if you think the customer base isn't being gamed, your daft. That's what advertising is.
  3. Yeah it's going to be tough on PvP servers, especially with the PvP exp bug.
  4. Apparently this happened in the first 2 days of WAR. It can't happen in WAR now (nor for 3 years) as they changed the system. Which makes it bizarre that they didn't change this given they have many people from WAR in the Dev team, and this issue was brought up in SWTOR Beta. What worries me most is that in WAR bugs were found on the Public Test Server, but in almost all cases they were pushed Live by Bioware anyway. Doing the same for SWTOR is not going to be great.
  5. Tbf this isn't like being in a shopping queue at all. It's like the supermarket opening early, but only allowing a few people in to buy stuff. Bioware EA can do what they want, of course, but your analogy wasn't right.
  6. Looks like an awful lot of people only getting 1-2 days then.
  7. My bet? Live day = massive queues and lag. But we'll see.
  8. This is true. If you don't get early access (and given that Live date you'll be lucky to get on for queues), then you may as well have NOT pre-ordered and you'll likely have got the game cheaper a week or so after launch.
  9. When Bioware took over Mythic, much of the Mythic Dev team was merged into SWTORs team. WAR hasn't really had a Dev team for 1.5 years now.
  10. Not at the current rate. Which makes it even more bizarre as Bioware have much of the Mythic team that will have seen that working on SWTOR. Those that don't learn from their mistakes are doomed to repeat them - that doesn't bode well for SWTOR, given what they did to WAR.
  11. But that's exactly what I was doing. And it's exactly what Bioware should be doing, they've had complete control of WAR for 1.5 years now, and have plenty of people from the Mythic team that saw WAR go Live working at Bioware on SWTOR. Makes it even more bizarre they let this through.
  12. So they changed it ASAP then? Makes sense. But it makes even less sense if they did that in WAR, had the system they've now had for 3 years and still let this go Live.
  13. >100 RR after 2 mins + queue time for a SC shut down vs 4000+ RR for a solo ORvR kill, or at least 2000 RR for a SC where you won well (which would have taken less than 5 mins if you completely dominated)? I've no idea what you're talking about.
  14. I forget how much exp you got back then (pretty sure it was still very little). But now and for a long time (2.5+ years) you get next to nothing for an SC that shuts straight down. You can't do this in WAR.
  15. You get very little exp or renown in WAR for a shut down sc. As little as >1000 exp or >100 renown, with a bit of AAO that's 4-5 SC instead of 1 ORvR solo kill. Emblems you maybe could farm a bit like this (although you'd get no medallions), but in all honesty you'd likely get more Emblems with a pre-made just by fighting.
  16. 1. WAR scenarios don't launch very often if there's not enough players (does happen, but you couldn't exploit it as it would take so long). 2. WAR scenarios that shut down within 2 mins (as rare as they are) don't award much exp (or renown). This couldn't happen in WAR, so I don't see how they let it happen in SWTOR.
  17. Doesn't sound like a bug, so much as very, very, very bad PvP scenario design. Bioware have run Warhammer for 1.5 years now, and you couldn't do something like this in Warhammer Online.
  18. Given that they couldn't catch people using hack packs in WAR, I'd be surprised if they have the resources to do this. They just need to shut the PvP scenarios down (and fix the issue before I get my date ).
  19. Then they are exploiting, apparently. Bodes well for the PvP servers.
  20. But if they PvP scenarios don't work, surely the best option is to shut them down till they do. This is Bioware's first big test, tbh I don't understand how this could happen when they've been running WAR for 1.5 years. Scenarios in WAR don't do this.
  21. TBF I'm not entirely sure "queuing for PvP" is "exploitation". Fair enough people might be doing it realising they are getting a lot of exp, but really Bioware should just shut down PvP scenarios if they can't get them working right. Not tell the players not to play.
