  1. no it wouldn't have, staff should've sent out this email two weeks earlier with people requesting to shift one of their toons. your higher chance of getting a shift if it's above level 10 and below fifty. then we could have filled the server out evenly. instead. i'm now fairly confident the servers support 1000 players logged in at once. as the 4 newby areas on the pvp server had roughly 200 people each and it was listed as heavy. so take 1000 ish and divide by the ridiculous number of planets and you get the reason the planets are all wastelands. i'm not complaining anymore. there are other mmo's coming up i'd be much better off supporting.
  2. to be honest its a waste of time transfering. in 8 weeks time...when they seem to plan on moving us, your existing character will have been left behind anyway. why is bioware so hell bent on doing everything backwards? should have been moving people over prior to the official launch so that there was a better distribution of players. instead it was 200 people in the newbie areas of each region fighting over the table scraps trying to finish quests. in 8 weeks time they'll shift ONE of our characters. i give up on this game. i desperately want it to be good. but its just an excercise in frustration
  3. err yeah you complain about a midnight downtime. i just finished dinner and was hoping to sit down and play tor for a few hours... walked a few metres and got server downtime in 10 minutes. i'm looking forward to finally having aussie servers to play on but i seriously hope the downtimes dont still follow american times. the two timezones are NOT compatible
  4. i think thats largely the problem with the end game content. bioware assumed we all wanted to play 1-50 8 times to experience their story. so they figured they had p[lenty of time for catch-up sadly alot of us are only mildly interested in the story. to be honest i wish this had been a mass effect MMO. they could have done so much more with that IP as an MMO. i have to be content playing as a femshep who tolerates the starwars cosplaying biotics running about.
  5. NO i quit once but friends were playing it so i re subbed. i think the game suffers under alot of design flaws, i noticed they're finally fixing some of those. UI modification is an absolute must. i want to be able to have some windows open scale them. adjust the alpha's. i saw that is getting a fix lack of a soft grouping system. if i'm about to attack the final stage of a bonus mission and someone who lagged me throughout said bonus mission sprints past while i'm healing from a trash mob to engage the final guy.....its infuriating. why can't it tag everyone in who gets a slot on the threat table? who cares if some guy just does 2% dmage and walks off to get credit. at least i didn't have to wait 10 minutes for a boss to respawn because he didn't fight the mobs. i'll mention rift only because they NAILED this. if you get close to someone doing something like a boss. a message pops up asking if you'd like to join the public group. people can set their group pref's to not allow public, so everyone has complete control over this. if large groups get close you can merge into a raid. its simple, organic and encorages teamwork instead of mission sniping. the current system in tor means that little cloaked punk has to blow past me or he waits ten minutes. its survival of the fittest and only serves to annoy. if i had engaged he couldn't just join me. he has to click a few buttons to request i allow him to join. and i would have been busy. my LFG flag was on. and thats as close as you get to simple grouping in ToR. i'm unaware if joining a group already engaged against a boss would have counted for the new joiner either. it could just be me, but healing is hard work. i dont feel confident healing a team and i certainly dont think there is enough healing abilities. i'm at lvl43 so far after nearly a month off. you can focus on one person, as a trooper i might add, and generally keep them topped off. but the classes are really sloppily defined due to the companion system and dual-ish roles. i fully understand a dedicated healer is useless in a fight...but i'm not. i have almost every skill i can spend in the healing tree. and i dont think much of my squad heals at all. kolto bomb is essentially the only AoE heal and its A is very limited. i think DPS tank and heal are very sloppily defined. pretty much everyone is dps but some people are extra dps. tank seems to be an equipment thing rather than a class. maybe this gets better at 50. but from what i read people are leaving at 50 from lack of content. so i'm not holding my breath. at this stage, i'm probably going to hit 50 then re roll when the aussie servers launch. look for a guild and try the game again. hopefully that UI change will have been rolled out by then
  6. i'm hoping the aussie servers will address this when they're running as the standard time of from 6pm to very late/extremely early means its not worth even logging on, on tuesdays. literally get home from work, have dinner log in. 15 minute downtime warning. server dont come back til wednesday. i get that i'm on a US server ATM. but the aussie servers better not do this
  7. i liked rifts system. you had the gear equipped on your character it could be any compatible class. and you had a wardrobe with a few sets. wardrobe could overwrite the visual on the equipment slot. each set could be hotswapped. or wardrobe disabled entirely. what that allowed was my lvl 50 character who had a full set of 4 transplanar armour items. could craft and equip the matching garbage armour models to make a full set of copper armour so i didn't have a goodwill clown in mismatched armour. or to quote something i said in guildchat oneday. "why is the intelligence score of female pants inversely proportional to the length of the pants?" troopers will unanimously agree to such a system. i saw my whole team assembled in a cutscene and they looked like the power rangers. one was green. one was blue. there was a red guy my chick was in yellow and elara looked like a jedi. havoc squad should rename themselves the rainbow warriors.
  8. yeah its out of hand that. the thunderclap has a holocomm and a meeting room, and using the holocomm only ever results in garza requesting you travel back to corrusant to use her meeting room. why can't she just talk to us there! if there's spies watching they're not going anywhere. it's a pita to fly back to corrusant, get my mission then fly off to the fleet, hand in the mission, then fly back to corrusant to get another mission to then fly to another space station and complete said mission to fly BACK to corrusant. do other classes have to do this? or is it only the troopers with an octogenerean technophobe running the show.
  9. am i alone in saying who the f is jaxo? the romance option in the commando quest i got was an sis agent human male. cat people and sexy brunettes have all been absent.
  10. just get orange gear and whatever stats your looking for is a null issue. finding orange techblades and tech staff is however an issue. i dont use vic because everytime i choose to follow orders....essentially accepting missions, he loses respect for me. it seems like the only way to win conversation points with vic would be to refuse missions. what a shining example of military special ops. the first 3 companions are certainly more user friendly
  11. rift is a technically superior game in almost everyway. the engine is rock solid, looks very pretty etc. server maintenence is far shorter. i was shocked to see a 6 hour window on swtor. rift was my first mmo and set a lot of precedents for me. this game falls short on most of them. but even then rift usually said 1 hour and 20-30 minutes later you could log back in. i get the feeling EA is saying 6 hours because bioware said 1. and because they need to keep up appearances they're leaving it down to the minute. it surely doesn't take 6 hours to patch some servers.
  12. heroics dont count unless theres a conversation at some point. do flashpoints
  13. err yeah every conversation is guarenteed to net you at least 2points, 1 for each group member, per choice. you get double if you win the roll your companion doesn't count a group.
  14. i'd heard slicing got cybertech recipes i've never gotten anything but synthweaving recipes from UT so i dont think its as random as your saying
  15. could be the same as the reason we can only track 25 quests too. that limit does annoy me. especially given how many heroics and flashpoints there are. daily stuff should just be on a lfg list and not an actual quest. would calm down the chat spam as well
  16. hehe, i never noticed that before, yeah 16a nimble and agile are 21 aim 12 enduarnace, only difference is crit or power. but 16b does reverse it. so yeah design choice i guess. there is no b variant schematics on vendors.
  17. yes no yes the two yes's require you to buy schematics from the market NOT the vendor. luckily there is so many slicers trying to sell you this gear they're selling insanely cheaply. enhancement is some other class
  18. yeah switch metal and fabric around. its really hard to even get a metal mission and so rare to see anything higher than moderate. meanwhile you need heaps of purple metals to make anything
  19. the fix is on tuesday. after the patch. is that day close enough for you?
  20. 50 seems fair to me. it's likely to keep credit farmers away. bondite can be used in much greater volumes BTW. ie purple recipes generally use 4 of something. so if i'm making armour for one character i need at least 24. (six purple armour plates with 4 bondite each) blues also tend to require 4, in cybertech at any rate. not having stuff stack bugs me more. every single thing cybertech can craft takes one inventory slot by itself. i have 4 rows solid of crafting mats to make the stuff and only enough room to store 10 manufactured items. add grey vendor trash and i spend so much of my playtime visiting mailboxes and medic vendors offloading uselss garbage. is there even a republic class that can use sniper rifles and scatterguns? why drop items i can't use and no-one i can sell too can use?
  21. its every 70 levels for underworld, you dont get all of the next tier at once they ramp up from 70 onwards. but from lvl70 you start seeing one or two UT missions
  22. depends. lvl3 missions tend to be the best returns. ie scavenge mission for flux @grade 3 can return 28 pots. but cost as much as 6 pots to actually run. thats a huge freeby profit that enables crafting with cybertech for much cheaper. those pots can then be used to craft grade 3 gear which sells to vendors at about a quarter of its actual vendor value. or throw t in the market for about 1000 each. which is the cost of the mission . so for 1200 credits you get 4800 credits worth of flux. add some scavenged metals to make 14 armour plates. put on market for 14000 credits. so yeah it CAN be worth it IF you put the time into it. if your not interested in effort try slicing
  23. 70,140,210,280,350 notice a pattern?
