  1. I’m still confused on why you guys (BioWare) haven’t reverted to 6.3 yet. Is it a pride issue?? Because it seems to me like you are either a) stringing people along to keep them subbed and buying until the last possible second before shutdown announcement or b) too prideful to admit you rekt the game with 7.0 and we should expect every update henceforth to be a (minimal, by the looks of it) bug fixing update. So which is it? Because I know I’ve said it on forums before but my sub is running out and y’all aren’t doing anything to convince anyone that they should sub again.

I think the only way they can do a roll back is to reset everyone to that point in time for inventory, credits, progress, achievements, unlocks, etc. With real world money involved with CM, I don't think this is an option they'd entertain - esp this far down the line from launch of 7.0 (Feb 15th)

But it's all good. They are silent and not communicating plans/roadmap, doing livestreams, engaging with the player base on forums save for patch delays - so you know they must be working hard to fix everything to ignore and take their player base for granted. I mean the last time Bioware told their loyal customers that even though their product was buggy, to stay with them as they fixed everything because there was a 10 year plan/commitment from the studio to their game, they didn't just cancel it and shut it all down a few months later, right Anthem fans?

On no, we have the Cartel Market to milk us here so we're not in the same boat. These aren't the droids you're looking for, move along.

  2. Agreed. It seems a lot of things may have happened to put a spanner in the works for the 10 year celebration and in-game developments. I don't care about that. I want them to update us about what's happening. I've said in many posts, honesty is always good - for example, I'd love an update on whether any more playable story content is coming this year or whether it's delayed until next year. This would go a long way to keeping me subbed. Right now, staying subbed doesn't seem worth it. So yes, a little encouragement/incentive would help.

I think staying silent while forums/reddit runs wild with doom and gloom has been par for the course for the entire time I've played this game.

  3. 6. Virulence/Dirty Fighting:

This is the one change where I don't see where you're coming from at all. Virulence is the only ranged class atm to even get something similar to close to the dps output of the melees. Why in the name of everything would you think it is a good idea to nerf the only ranged class that might be considered useful in raids (damage wise). I will get into that a bit more in a minute, just let it be said that I think this is a horrible idea and I really don't see the necessity. And I don't even play a sniper, it might be even worse for those who main that class.

100% agree. There is no reason at all to bring out a virulence/dirty fighting nerf in the midst of all of this.

  4. I am admittedly a mmo hoe. I play so many of them and this one is one of my favs. I kept hearing horror stories about the 7.0 changes from different people who supposedly left the game and came to play other games. I didn't want to believe it and after a about a year being away, I came back a few days ago. My experience was horrible as a solo player and for the first time, I cancelled my sub to this game. As much as I want to support this game, I can't in good conscience continue to do so. If you agree with me great, if you don't great as well. I'm not looking to debate or rattle any cages, I am just sharing my opinion and the continued comments I get from other gamers.

I was a day 1 sub and left for the first time during KOTET when I couldn't agree with the vision of Bioware/Ben any longer and returned when Keith took the helm and laid out his agenda.

Sub now ends in 2 days and the reason this time isn't disagreeing so much with the vision (which parts of it I do) but because I no longer have faith that this studio can develop a quality game any longer. (There is literally an image that says WIP "work in progress" in live for god's sake)

I will check back in when 7.1 finally drops - but if it happens in the manner I think it will- it may not be enough to subscribe again.

  5. And yet in this discussion even those that DO OPS can't even agree!! And you expect the rest of us to "enjoy" the game while "engaged" in this ?? (I doubt some will see the humor ... the contradictions ... the rest of the baggage)

    [/facepalm]

OH! I get it ... trust me! I'll probably catch crap from BOTH sides.

    )

Please find me one thing in this game that everyone agrees on. Hell, even on things like not enough new content coming there are those that say we get plenty for the low price of a monthly sub.

So I'm not at all surprised or expecting for all those who participate in operations to agree on anything. I even stated early on that there are pros/cons to the starparse numbers being shown, just in my opinion the good outweighs the bad.

  6. As I said, it was EV SM. I think it's more eye opening for me that bean counting other players, is what people want.

That's the community today. We're not talking about NiM OPs or even HM. We're talking SM OPs and FP, this feature, that most of you here hail good and reason to kick ppl, is infecting the least DPS dependent parts of the game. Now casual has to be elitist, or get stuffed for it.

And the best comment you get from people like that is "Git Gud".

Again, I think you are speaking to the exception and not the norm. Esp if in green 320 you were pulling 15-17k. As a (soon to be former- 6 days remaining) member of the NiM community, I'd have been 100% fine with that.

    You should get over it.

A random nobody says something irrelevant in a EV SM and you never go in an operation again but spend more time than an operation takes on the forum saying how hurt you were?

That'll show that random nobody by... punishing yourself forever...

But you should ignore me and put more importance on what they said because they're super important.

    ^This.

Ignoring a huge part of the game for the actions of 1 random is silly. If you want to try out operations- join one of the many guilds recruiting - some of the larger ones advertise looking for people to join/learn operations.

  7. Alright, I'll grant that it is possible to see enrage in SM, albeit (in my experience) rare, even in full groups of newbies. Perhaps instead of saying dps doesn't matter in SM, I could have said it's "generally inconsequential." My larger point was that whoever was demanding OP "had to" do 21k dps in a SM EV was clearly suffering from full-of-themselves-itis , much like the person in your own anecdote. :D

I'd agree- looking at the parsely databoards for some classes that would be near the top of charts dps - certainly not expected for 320.

But I'd also say this behavior is not the norm at all. the bad experiences I've had with toxic players in pug SM operations has not been the case (nor HM for EV/KP)

I do wonder if some people join forming operations for HM/NiM content not realizing and then get upset at dps/gear requirements. I know I have formed pug ops on fleet stating the mode and then having someone respond back to find they a) had never done the operation b) weren't in correct gear for their spec. Now I've been good about letting them down gently but I'm sure there are those who have less patience.

  8. Hold up, this was a SM EV? OP, anyone who cares about dps in a SM op deserves laughter and a legacy ignore. They are not worth your energy beyond an eyeroll (if that).

DPS does not matter in SM. NO reasonable person in swtor would rag on dps in a SM EV. The kind of person that feels the need to tear down some fresh 80 in fleet greens in an op like that needs assistance in a bad way. :D

While in cases it doesn't matter- I'm seen some pug groups enrage during Gharj and that was due to some dps pulling low numbers. The example I gave earlier was exactly that. The person yelling and pointing finger at others was pulling less than the tank in gear well above 320. So in this case, a toxic player who didn't know how to play their class- yelling at others.

And as a side note, the most toxic people I've come across have not been the accomplished members of the raiding community - it has been the ones still learning but not willing to have others learn as well.

  9. It takes a special kind of hyper-mistuned reject to bash others over their gaming stats, and raiding always seems to serve as the perfect heatsink for said weirdos for within the gaming ecosystem. Such threads are the occasional reminder I need to never wade into that toxic pit.

Wrong takeaway in my opinion. it more means don't wade into this as part of a random pug. Random can be either a good or bad experience. Instead, find other players/guild that do operations and join a team there. Guilds typically provide a better way to learn operations and these raiding groups can also provide a sort of camaraderie and opportunity to meet and get to know other players from across the globe and form friendships.

  10. The last thing we need is a bunch of "leet" [redacteds] ruining the fun for the rest of us.

If you're that concerned about other peoples 'performance' in a PUG, you need to stop pugging.

I can picture it now. You're going along happily in an MM flashpoint. The cat jumps up on your lap and you occasionally give it a scratch. But wait, you've missed a skill, your DPS has gone down, and the 'leet' votes to kick you from the group. 🙄

Remember MM group finder is serious business. You must be on point at all times and forgo all outside influences - pets, spouses, etc - lest you be kicked. 😂

    /sarcasm

But there's two sides to this.

Scenario 2, you have the "entitled" [redacteds] who thinks it is other players responsibility to carry them through a pug for an achievement/conquest goal/etc.

This person yells at the other players that they aren't good and blames a player of lesser gear rating for any wipes.

But one person looks and discovers that the person doing the yelling has the lowest dps of the group and isn't carrying their own weight.

As I linked the other thread on this topic in my earlier post - I had this exact scenario play out in a pug operation. The said player was blaming a lower rated team member as the reason for a wipe and not meeting the dps needed to keep the boss from enraging. Once this toxic member was out of group and replaced - the remainder of the operation was completed effortlessly.

So again, this feature can be used for good or bad. But at least it gives actual data vs people's feelings - and in many cases provides a more experienced player the ability to see what a less experienced player is doing and be able to offer help/tips to improve (which I have also done as a result of seeing this.)

Ultimately, you can play in any manner you choose, but you are not entitled to other players' time. Entering group content brings about this risk both good and bad. Having actual data to allow people to make decisions I believe is better than people blaming on how they think/feel. Toxic will be toxic regardless - but at least the helpful parts of the community can use this to assist.

  11. .Galactic Starfighter.

GSF always pops. There's only a single bracket for all GSF queues (no one is left out)

Warzones. are split into 3 separate brackets. 1-49, 50-79, 80. Good luck getting a pop on a server like Leviathan or Tulak Hord with a new character even during a galactic season unranked pvp weekly week. (Decorated Combatant 0/45 medals, Heading the Frontline 0/8 matches)

So if you weren't here at the beginning, 10-50 wzs were terrible. Players with no interrupts going against players with all abilities unlocked. So the tiers are not a bad thing - however population is an issue and likely the cause of what you find as frustrating there.

GSF is fairly balanced. Everyone has equal footing, a player with 0 requisitions (no upgrade currency) never played a gsf match on that character, stuck on <introduction to Starfighter> before the weekly and daily are unlocked, can top the leaderboard in damage, kills, assist. medals. Most important, everyone gets a chance to max out their ships to full upgrades.

Don't think that is an accurate picture of a level 0 rated ship topping the leaderboard like that. I know I never have seen that. Top of charts have always been the hardcore GSF regulars with ability to one-shot. Now a player with a 0 rated ship can earn quite a few medals in matches where they can defend a node and spend their time avoiding other ships with skill - but I'm really skeptical about topping damage/kills and assists.

All that being said, GSF def felt a lot more fun with more players getting in there than the stagnant place it had been for years. More players can and should give it a chance as well. If nothing else, I found it was the best way to gear up to 326.

  12. It`s not about lying, dude. They hoped to deliver on time more than you think. Small team, crappy engine, maybe little EA support...I don`t know how that bussiness works. Im gonna support the game anyway and hope for the best because as Andy Dufresne said: "Hope is a good thing, may be the best of the things. And good thing never dies"

IF you work in development, it actually is not about hoping. You know your team and resources and plan accordingly. They don't make a development plan, release that to players and then hope they get the funding to make it happen. Now, you can make estimations on delivery of developments and bugs can and do come up that cause delays. But to be so off comes down to misleading or being completely incompetent when it comes to estimating. So if you don't want to attribute malice, you have to attribute that they just aren't very good at what they do. Neither are good scenarios for fans of the game.

  13. Blame EA, not Bioware

Actually, go read the article about Anthem development by Jason Schreier

Then, you can see it is 100% possible to blame Bioware. EA is by no means a kind/good hearted company looking out for gamers' best interests, but you can't blame them for not wanting to throw more money at a studio that is showing that it has no clue how to manage game development anymore. EA could double the money it gives Bioware and I think they would just double their disappointment and loss.

Go back to launch when EA poured what was rumored to be hundreds of millions into the game. From there to now you can see the pattern of Bioware ignoring feedback and deciding they know what is best. And time and time again, you'll see it blow up in their face, but lessons never get learned.

Go back through the forums and you'll see the same complaints time and time again "we gave this feedback in testing and it was ignored" " We need communication and the silence is costing you" etc.

  14. Do you mean the group focus in KOTFE and KOTET content?

Well, the counter to that is if it was working they wouldn't have abandoned that model.

Granted, they've now replaced it with a model of nothing new for anyone outside of costume designers and user acceptance testers.

  15. And yet, here we are.

yep, with less players and updates going on 6 months+ after planned release.

Not a dead game at all by any means due to the IP, but not in a good or healthy state

Blockbuster Video isn't dead either, but I don't think people will point to the remaining store as proof that the naysayers are wrong about it's demise

Edit: I'll be clear, I don't think this game is soon to be shut down. The IP alone has kept it afloat where other games would be dead by now. As long as there isn't another Star Wars game in the RPG/on line service model to compete - it will stay alive until those who spend on the CM keeping the game profitable stop spending.

  16. It would be expected that there would be a rise and then a drop at the release of a new expansion. The year-to-year levels are more important from a financial aspect.

of course it would be expected to see a boost and drop after an update.

and keeping an eye on year to year was why I laid out the data as far back as was available.

It's not a massive gain, but it's not 'ruined' either.😂😇

It's not a massive gain at all. It's a loss. Not a massive loss, but a loss 😂😇

I never said ruined either. I distinctly said it was NOT in maintenance mode, but not bringing in enough players to replace the ones who were leaving. If you remove the spike for February for the patch, the average daily players is down for 2022 - hence needing to watch the remainder of 2022 to verify that trend. But seeing the numbers down from previous year so soon after a new "expansion" is concerning. I do expect another spike when 7.1 finally does drop as there will be some coming back to try out the new operation and daily area (myself included)

Expansions will always bring a spike of new/returning players. But the mark of a healthy/good game is that you keep more of those than you had before. And dropping to numbers at or below pre-expansion is a bad sign.

(Plus, of course, these are only the Steam numbers)

Of course these are just steam stats- which i pointed out that these were in fact steam stats. Bioware stopped providing stats after the massive loss of players in year 1. So I used the only transparent stats available, and mentioned that the stats were from steam - which I provided in entirety and linked to where to go get them. I didn't go anecdotal route and tell about all the people I've observed leaving my guild(s), raiding groups disbanding to go elsewhere - b/c that can't be quantified outside of gut feelings.

  17. Understaffed and low priority for the studio would be more accurate than maintenance mode. There are updates/plans for updates/content whereas maintenance mode would be no new content being added.

But seeing how they struggle to meet deadlines, the amount of bugs introduced every patch that linger for ages before being patched (at all), and the fact that to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the game they are slotted at SW celebration to be an afterthought at a booth for a mobile whale hunter game - you can see what Bioware/EA think of this game and it's fans.

  18. Damn this game has a long history of being ruined every single patch. This is from when the game was ruined in 4.0 and you can find a ton of these types of posts 😂😂 damn man wonder how this game has survived 10 years when it constantly gets ruined (reality is it's a very small minority crying about the changes).

No. It has a long history of people ranting endlessly (and usually incoherently) about the game being ruined every single patch, which isn't the same thing at all.

Well, while true that there are doomsayers each patch, the population of the game has gone down since those days quite considerably (200 servers to a handful now). I think the big takeaway I've had is that the SW IP keeps this game afloat in spite of the deficiencies. Using the steam stats, the game enjoyed a release bump when 7.0 came out, to then drop to below pre-update numbers: https://steamcharts.com/app/1286830

    July 2020 18,449.7 - - 27,416

So just using steam's portion of the playerbase, we've seen a drop in both the average daily and peak daily over the past 2 years with the peak in players being the first 2 months of the game being on steam, and the 3rd highest peak being the release month of update 7.0.

(6.0 released near end of 2019)

Average daily in the last half of 2020 was ~9,194.

    Average for 2021 was ~6,113

Average for 2022 so far including the spike due to update 7.0: 6,253

Will be interesting to watch the chart for rest of 2022 as the spike from 7.0 has already led to past 2 months decline (early may results show a slight spike less than 1%)

So, I won't say the game is dead and in maintenance mode because I've learned over the years that the IP will keep this game afloat as long as the lights stay on. But it isn't bringing in enough new players to replace the old ones they aren't retaining.

  19. 10th anniversary and instead of a cantina/livestream, SWTOR gets to be a guest in the booth of a mobile game whose predatory model is helping to destroy gaming. A game where the lead producer a few years back admitted that players wanting to be able to compete would need to drop $4,000-5,000

Yay, I'm glad there was a shift in resources to make sure you got to collaborate to put a character into a different game to milk money from players. I'm glad 6 months after the actual 10th anniversary we are back to the point where there is a non-committal road map where we can no longer get dates of updates because the Bioware once again is no longer able to meet deadlines- so we just don't have those anymore.

At least you haven't gone full Anthem where you claim to have a long term commitment to the game before announcing there is no more game.

  20. The people that are complaining about inflation are mainly complaining about the pricing of CM items in player to player sales. They already have the ability to use cartel coins for those things, but they don't want to. So that wouldn't solve the "main issue" at all.

On top of that, it would pretty much kill the Hypercrate concept since duplicate items would have no value to players.

Not to mention the amount of sales of CC would surely go down if players were no longer able to use their CC to generate credits. It is not likely that there is a scenario where Bioware does anything that cuts into CC revenue. That's a non-starter.

  21. Im sure if you go to EA with 100 million they would gladly update the engine.

All my opinion/speculation, but I'm pretty sure they would take that money and put it towards a game they could get the ROI with it. EA will not pour more money into this game past the minimum required to maintain with small updates. It makes enough with small investment to keep them happy with SWTOR - but they are long past any thought that they could invest heavily in this game and get a return on it.

Does that mean the game itself is in maintenance mode? No, it just isn't in a place where they place any priority on growth for the game. It is all happy to keep the Star Wars fan money spigot going for space barbie. As long as that continues, this game will have a place. Once it doesn't, then it will end. There will be no investment push to regain/grow playerbase.
