  1. The OP was rude? I must be spending too much time reading the pvp forums because it seemed pretty rational to me. But you know what the pvp'ers get for all their whinning? Results, often not the results they want but yeah. OK maybe I missed a button on my ship but how is my ship player housing? Besides having a storage locker (on some ships in very strange places), I'm not seeing it. I can't modify it in or out, can't have more than a few people in it, I can't even control when the thing takes off. I think what the OP meant by craftable social clothing was to have the ability to colorize it when it is crafted, that is what I thought anyway. *shrugs* And for those that say BW made this game for rp'ers look at the stories, well you are right, the single player part of the game does have a good story, just like someone pointed out earlier, the same story as thousands and thousands of other players. Now unlike Mass Effect, instead of going through it by myself I get to watch a bunch of other people to the same thing and can stand in line to spike that computer system. Not sure how that is great rp but whatever. I certainly don't think it hurts to have threads like this just to keep BW aware that we do exist even if we are not the biggest mouths on the forums. I've got a list two pages long of things I'd love to see, of which I think realistically maybe two will ever come to pass. So far they are doing a good job with this game imho, but there are definitly limits to what they can do with the desicions they made early on, like sliders when creating a character. There just seems to be too many things that would effect, all the cut scenes, clothing fittting. But maybe I'm wrong, I admittedly know nothing about coding besides that it is a word. Threads like these are made out of frustration more than anything else, frustration at the lip service which BW has become an expert at. I've learned the hard way that you can make no assumptions at what they say, they say the minimum and if you expect more than that out of any statement you are setting yourself up for dissappointment (can you say deluxe edition items). So my expectations are very low which means I haven't been dissapointed much in the last couple of weeks, well except for rise of the zombies...errr...rakgouls (sp?) *facepalm*
  2. There were too many things I wanted to quote so here goes; The Linear Path - (both questing and terrain) Not to be rude but is this really a shock to anyone? It has been known for years that this is what the game was going to be like. The said it was going to be like WoW and it is. Do I like it? God no! However it was a very early and basic design descision they made and nothing is going to change that. The cries went up years ago about this when they first announced it but...oh well. We just have to live with it. As far as worlds opening up in later levels, well not really, unless you want to take the time to fight your way across the landscape. And when you can't run 100 yards from Tats spaceport without getting a 'go back or die' message it is a little silly, especially when you fly over it?!! Alternate weapons - picking up a .22 at twelve is not the same as picking up an uzi in a life or death situation at any age. While the idea of using a different weapoin actually sounds kinda cool, however, since you have no real world experience with it perhaps it sould be a last resort kind of thing, just base damage and no specials. But since we don't have weapons breaking why would I pick up a strange weapon? And then what about a jedi using a troopers heavy weapon? Seems like weapons like that would require special training to me. Seems like what you are really talking about is being proficient in another weapon. While cool I don't see it happenning here, could be wrong though. Oh and from personal experience, you can miss with a three foot sword standing right in front of someone The OP had some interesting points and they are head scratchers but they are mostly very basic design choices that were made, and most we knew when we hit the submit button on the order page. Oh and I have a head scratcher list two pages long!...lol We are actually having a SWTOR party (and P&P gaming session) this afternnon with friends that also play and decide if we are going to keep subbing, more than likely we will for a few more months, but hey the party could easily be a wake too and leaving would break my heart about as much as it would Biowares if we left
  3. If that is a more accurate in game pic then I'm missing the issue here...looks fine to me *shrugs*
  4. Once you peel away all the defensiveness and bile of the OP and his/her responses, I actually agree with a some of what they stated. Peronsally I think Bioware made a huge mistake designing this off of WoW. I don't know if they choose that route because of $$$ or ease or did not want to deal with all of the the 'this is not SWG' threads they thought they'd get. What they got was an even larger fanbase crying 'this is not WoW!' (not that the OP is saying that! Wanted to make that clear before they got butt hurt) Their initial design choices were a little boggling, but understandable from a bean counters perspective I guess. And the so called repeatability...uhm...yeah. Sorry BW, I am enjoying playing your character but there will come a time I'd like to play mine and I know that will not come. As far as strategic overall design goes I agree, boring, dull, been done A TON already. Quest hub to quest hub to quest hub, whatever. With that said, IMHO, I feel like this is one of the better beginnings of an mmo ever. There is tons of content, most works. I can get form point a to point b with little skipping, running into invisible walls or the areas just plain not there. Should we expect more in 2012? Sure we should, releasing a game with known bugs deserves criticism. However compared to other recent games, this is defintly the most complete. I am more dissappoited in what could have been done as oppssed to what wasn't done, and that goes back to their initial design, but too late now. And don't worry BW will give in to the whinning, every company does.
  5. You forgot to add IDENTCALLY laid out spaceports...really? That helps my immersion? The same firm that built the spaceport on Tatooine is the same as the one that built it on Alderaan? Same layout with a few different textures. I don't know if they are all that way, I only noticed between Tat and Ald. /facepalm c'mon art team. They need to add A LOT more functionality to the ships, most of which have already been mentioned. Hopefully they will make the ships more useful as time goes by instead of only being the clumsy timesink they are now. And I'll add to this, this is our own doing you know. It was the fan whining early in development that pushed Bioware even putting the ships in at launch.
  6. This I've learned to look at everything BW says, ever since I received my deluxe edition items and had to re-read what I thought it said and what it really said. While it is great we got a response be aware they will do exactly what they said they would, take it to the art department because...? All those great teaser armors will be in as quoted above, when you buy the next installments to get to level 60, 70, 80. BW does nothing without a plan, it may (or may not) have been an oversight but you can be sure it is now a plan:jawa_evil:
  7. Well the answer seems obvious to me...it's a themepark. When they limit not only what you can do but even where you can walk, how can it not feel like a single player game. To me this is a great BW game that has a lobby where you can occiasionally hook up with strangers, do a run and say goodbye. I think everyone, devs and players, confuse forced grouping with forced socialization, SWG (I know bringing up a bad word) had forced socialization, this game has forced grouping. It's not the same, not even close... I can do forced grouping from the lobby of any first person shooter. Personally I did not like forced socialization at first, thought it was a tremendous waste of time, but then found that players are actually more fun than the game! I have found that in every game I've played now, opened my eyes. I personally play MMO's for two reasons, 1) to play a fun game in a world, which BW did a good job on IMO and, 2) to play with other human beings because they frequently are more free and creative to do what they want than devs, although number two does require imagination. For number 1 BW did an awesome job and I find people I play with for half an hour, or an hour, and then never see them again, just like Modern Warfare or whatever game. For number two, it is abysmal, but then I went into this knowing it was a single player MMO. So anyone I meet is a bonus for me.
  8. Wow you looked at that deep, I'm impressed. I figure these threads are started by guys looking to get a real life date out of a game, spending their time in front of a computer instead of asking the girl sitting next to him in class (or in the bar) out for a movie. And yes I know people that have met in game and are now couples, good for them (we play the P&P version of Star Wars together). Personally I play both, and I wonder about men who actually enjoy looking at a guys *** for hours on end and then attack guy for playing a girl and wanting to watch that instead...huh? really? Usually it is the person pointing the finger that is the most guilty in order to hide their own self-percieved inadquacies. So OP let us know when you go the rainbow themed bar in your neighborhood, I've never been to one and I'll admit I'm curious.
