  1. Would you have felt better if it was a standard Need/Greed system and the bosses coughed up tons of drops no one could use? You can either have dead drops from a totally random loot system (Yey, more Str gear for the Marauder we don't have) or you can have the system give loot that is always "correct" for you, but given to set people. Dead drops are dead drops.
  2. Pretty much this, I really do not understand the need for 2 currencies used to buy Pieces, in both the PvE and PvP departments. The PvP marks are probably worse though, use one currency to buy another, then use BOTH to buy items >.>
  3. The number of each class you have doesn't matter with the Destined Loot system, as the game picks what Ops members will get an item, and then gives them whatever is appropriate for the Class. You could have a Op of nothing but Sorcerers and Assassins and would always get the useful loot, the only concern would be people getting repeat items week after week.
  4. The ending of every story is not affected by your Alignment, other then maybe an NPC or two who will stand in the backround.
  5. Because you don't want to be a greedy, self serving jerk, and spread that sort of behavior?
  6. Personally I think it's very inappropriate to roll need on a Mod-able item when there is some one in the part who could use it right away, without stripping and replacing mods. If however, you say don't have a member who uses the piece of gear, and you ask the party if anyone has a problem with you rolling to strip it, that's fine. But no, you don't to roll on a 1 handed Str Light Saber as a Sorcerer when you have A Jugg or Mara you needs the item as is.
  7. Enraging is based on Time, not kill order, so if you are wiping because of the Enrage your DPS is low. Security Chief Massey (the one who shields the main Boss) is tauntable, but he drops agro just a bit faster then taunt's cool down ends, so he's the one running around. I've done the first two ways, the first is Medic -> Chief -> Boss, the second is to ignore the medic and just kill Chief -> Boss. As the tank I would try to stun and interrupt the Medic as much as possible.
  8. Normal BT is listed as 2+, and is very easily handled by 2 level 10's and their companions. The hardest part about the whole place is micromanaging your companion to not stand in fire.
  9. Are MMO players in General bad these days, or do MMO players finally have the tools to measure performance, and combat designed to seriously press players to perform at even half of their capabilities? Back when I raided in DAoC, were players good, or were most bosses Tank and Spanks, with no player cap, thus allowing you to easily carry the weight of people who played their class with no idea how to perform well, and nothing in the game to even tell them how they are doing? I've been MMO'ing since shortly after EQ launched, and I'm sorry, MMO players of the past where not some Master Race, filled with nothing but the best and the brightest. There were baddies, rude jerks, Elitist jerks, and lots of quiet people just grinding away at whatever they had to do for the day. And its the same today as it was then, there is just a lot larger pool of players in the WOW centric MMO sphere, the key difference is the some designers target the large, non-forum lurking masses, and design to keep them playing, and not jumping ship every time a new MMO launches because they'll long ago hit the wall of how far they would progress in the older game.
  10. Did you interrupt Force Blast? The massive AE damage spell he performs usually shortly after coming out of Stealth? It's kind of important to look at what killed you and figure out how to deal with that.
  11. Yesterday I ran into bugs on both those fights. Jindo's ship didn't respond to the Turrets, but he only tried to missile barrage us twice, and we just interrupted it. On Malgus, he was a bizarre cake walk. He only Confronted one person, Never caste Unlimited Power, and didn't go into his Lightening phase, we just beat him to death.
  12. There is one for Normal, and one for Nightmare. I wish I could tell you what they give, but they've bugged out and not given me credit for the last two weeks.
  13. Hello forums, I just finished a HM False Emp run a bit ago (date 2/9/2012), and we encountered a strange event. The final Boss basically failed to perform half of his abilities. He only did the Confront a Player alone Once, he never casted Unlimited Power, and instead of having to knock him off a ledge, we simply beat him to death. Has anyone else seem this?
  14. The problem is that major consequence laden choices only work well when you have the information to make informed decisions. Unfortunately, MMO's have a bad bad habit of not presenting information in a way to let players make informed choices without spending lots of time researching outside the game. Finding out I need to re-roll because some one finally did the Math and found out Stat X is better for my class/roll then the more obvious Stat Y is not fun. Throw in the fact that Patches can completely change the dynamics of the game and it can become very very frustrating, go ask long term WOW Paladins how much they've enjoyed having their class overhauled 3 time. In the end, if you want a large subscription number, you market and design for the people who just want to play the game, in the game, not to we forum/theory crafting junkies.
  15. Improbability and impossibility ARE NOT THE SAME. Hire 1000 people to flip quarters for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week Do this for a few months and YOU WILL GET odd streaks that have a stupidly low chance of happening. Every time a boss drops a Columi token, it is an independent roll, how many times you've killed that boss has no effect on the odds of the token being selected this time. But like I said, your mind is locked in, so you just tell people to shut up at the end of your posts for disagreeing.
  16. There wont be a quote because nothing will change your mind. You are ignorant of how statistics work, and you fail to grasp how anecdotal forum posts are not useful evidence. The loot system is random, its as random as any random number generator can be. It's not broken, Bioware is not trying to slow down players by making useless gear drop, or shunt gear in OPs to all one player, etc etc. But that won't matter to the people who's minds are locked onto the idea the game is some how designed against them, just like nothing will change the minds of people who are locked onto the idea the Moon Landing didn't happen.
  17. That is FAR too small of a sample size to call the random number generator broken. The collective anecdotes of people complaining about this is not evidence, or a sufficient sample size to prove there is any problem with the loot system not working right. Can some one make a post about how statistics and random odds work, and sticky it so many this forum category can have fewer of these posts clogging it up.
  18. Every loot roll is an independent chance, all of your past kills of the same boss have no effect on the odds of your next kill. Weird steaks will pop up with thousands of people clearing FP's and Ops Random loot is random, Statistics can be a *****
  19. Stop being so conspiratorial, and realize that people posting on the forums is not useful evidence for drop rate odds. Particularly because only the people with bad streaks would be likely to post, while the people seeing a nice random mix wouldn't be mentioning it on the forums
  20. Please learn how Statistics work. The loot system is random, and there is no imbalance or bug or fault with the odds for items to drop. Odd streaks WILL happen in any random system
  21. And what stops 4 individual players from running up to you and focus'ing you down? Name one thing a multiboxer can do that a group of individual players cannot do, and assuming those 4 players aren't bad, can't do much better.
  22. Wrong, it is entirely in the realm of "bad luck" Each roll to pick what loot drops is independent and so the odds are always 1 in 4 for each piece. And given the number of people running Flash Points, and getting loot, weird and unlikely streaks *WILL* pop up. Its all just statistics.
