an empire without sith would fall. The jedi would destroy you. The Republic would win. Considering there are sith that can dominate entire armies, defeat entire battalions, and see things before they happen. The sith are necessary, every imp can see that, that does not mean you have to like them

Are there any story benefits to doing this?

I have played through Sith warrior, not completed, and have seen much of the Inquisitor. Both are satisfying but i prefer warrior rather than the Inquistors storyline

I think most do know the difference, it hits you in the face if you play Empire, i think they just mean Sith Empire, so Sith for short.

You are mistaken, it does fit. The sith empire are the ones who fled korriban after the great hyperspace war, mostly human and red skin sith, who intermarried. The redskins you see know are human with some or little "sith pureblood". So they are the main power and have been isolated for a long time. The aliens they have encountered have been eitehr slaves or conquests. Most other aliens are from the republic, so yes the speciesm is understandable

Peace can lead to stagnation and it usually does. Conflict breeds competition, each side is striving to get better tech, better weapons, better medicine, hell even better and stronger architecture. Many of the advancements we see today would have never come about if not amplified by war. There would not have been an immediate need for it. IRL look at the Cold war and Space race etc back then and look at the space program in the states and russia now. So yes buildings are destroyed and people die but much is gained.
