  1. His statement is true provided you think of the new OP as all there is to the expansion. So in tru SW style it's "True from a certain point of view", even if it's untrue for the rest of the world :-)
  2. My patch slowed down to a trickle, so I did the sensible thing and checkedmy conneciton, reset my rotuer e.t.c. Since that I can log in but get the message Unable to retrieve patch data. Please check network connection (208). SInce Prime Time EU started just as my patch trickled down I'm taking a wild stab at not rechecking my connection which seems to have no other issues but to wait till things settle down a bit and try again.
  3. You realise at least part of those loading screens are due to your character being loaded? The character select screen hasn't loaded your characters yet beyond their models. For your idea they'd have to frontload all your character's individual Inventory, bank details, mail, Companion statuses e.t.c. You'd probably not have a 10 times as long load-time for your character select, but somehwere between 5-7 times as long would not be unexpected. Personally I'd rather have a Legacy Accessed Bank myself so I'd atleast be able to cut down on mailing my alts things like Companion Gifts.
  4. There's examples of guilds, clans, cutls, alliances, corporations, governments and syndicates in Star Wars lore, so there's no reason not to use the term guilds based on lore. Bottom line is, they could've gone with any term they liked but 99% of MMO players have an instinctive understanding of the term Guild whereas Corporation or even Clan leads to confusion to larger than 1%. Also Guilds tend to allow more individualism to its members than Corporations so from that perspective it's probably more apt a term anyway.
  5. It kinda depends on whether they put the client update servers in maintenance too. My money is on we can download the client update while the servers are being updated during maintenance.
  6. You might want to search around the forums and the dev tracker a bit before getting your hopes up. Togruta has been mentioned several times as being rather problematic in regards to clipping. That's also the reason Twi'Lek in TOR don't have prehensile lekku. Yes, there's Togruta NPCs in the game without these issues, they all wear handpicked armour that doesn't clip, much, with their armour. They felt it was acceptable (barely) to have Ashara Zavros with all her clipping issues in tha game, but for a player character it's too much. BW is going with the Catharr mostly because they're the easiest for them to do both in terms of animation and voice.
  7. I'll be enjoying levelling some toons doing the interesting bits rather than making sure I get every bonus and side quest just to keep up with the levelling curve so I don't end up being 2+ levels too low for the next Planet. Double XP lets me level at leisure
  8. If it bothers you, pretend GMT is UTC.
  9. Ehm, you are playing as a male Jedi Knight and did give her a courting gift at some point?
  10. Ah, I did not know that. I'd noticed the bonus stays when Affection drops below 1000 again but assumed hitting 1000 triggers the bonus after which it can't be taken from you.
  11. Well, I got my tree set up with 4 Twi'lek sisters across both factions and a couple of allies. While it would possibly be prettier if I could put them all in a circle with crosslines from each avatar to each avatar, it really ammounts to the same thing depending on how you wish to interpret things. It's mostly a visualization aid for how you yourself imagine their relationship(s). As such it's good enough for me if not perfect. Compared to other MMO's which generally offer... nothing in this are, it's pretty neat The Legacy ssytem as a whole so far got me several benefits: + Global Presence bonuses from maxed out affection on Companions + Chapter 2 Completion buffs, essentially the same as when people remember to cast their Class buffs when in a group. + Additonal Heroic Abilities from each Chapter 3 I completed on different classes + Two Species unlocked so Far Twi'Lek & Miraluka (I wanted A Twi'Lek Sith Warrior and a Blind Trooper) + Legacy of Unity + Ship Mailbox + XP boosts and Speeder Pilotting unlocks on several individual characters. My main peev with the system's the long cooldown on Priority Transport Personal Starship and that I have to buy it on a per character basis.
  12. You take a small Affection hit when you flirt with another where she hears it and a much bigger one if you sleep with someone and that can result in funny dialogue too. But you can always compensate for that with Companion Gifts. Apparently George Lucas & Bioware wanted us to take away from SW:TOR that affection can always be bought (back) with material goods. That or that nothing has consequences
  13. I'm confused, do you want the guy fired for giving answers that are consistent with what Bioware employees elsewhere have said on the same topics, or do you want him fired because the answers he's given were not the answers you wanted to hear but would be lies?
  14. To me it's "Subscriptions are like the all-you-can-eat buffet, but if you want to look shiny while eating, here's our completely non-obligatory haute couture shop you can shop in, oh and here's a monthly stipend for said shop". Unlike most hybrid F2P/Subscription MMO's Bioware hasn't actually locked out anything for subscribers. Only if you want it All and want it Right Now do you "have" to pay more. If anything, Bioware erred on the side of being draconic towards F2P and even Preferred status compared to Subscriptions. Mind, I don't like the gambling packs, but otherwise I don't have a problem with the Cartel Market. The subscriptions offer value for money in a way that is seperate from the CM.
  15. My theory's they're leftovers from a different direction at one point during development and left in there to "flesh out" the area they're in. Kinda like the Crew Skill Trainers on every planet. Haven't found a use for them, though it may be that there's players who get a sudden hankering to switch crew skills while on Voss? Stil, now and then there's an interesting moddable armour piece in there, like the medium armour set on Tattooine, I put Mako in that. Usually those non-common pieces can also be found at the Specialty Goods vendor just to make the superfluousness redundant.
  16. Yeah, the instances are there to spread the population around a bit to keep performance. Of course this runs counter to wanting to join in on a big RP event in a combat zone. It'd be nice if you could choose to go to the crowded Instance. You can do this by grouping with someone in that Instance, but I don't know if you can somehow zone there from selecting the Instance in the Map window or some such. I know you can in other MMO's with instances, but never tried in SW:TOR.
  17. The whole Need vs Greed discussion predates SW:TOR by about ten years and it's never been solved completely. In most MMO's it's an unwritten rule of player etiquette to only 'Need' for your own acharacter and only roll 'Greed' when the item would go to an Alt. This point of view is pretty straight forward. The only counter is "but my Alt "needs" it. Which is iffy. Does the player actually have an alt that can use it, or is he just greedy and wanting to sell it? Since you can't spend hours discussing and investigating a loot roll, the Need only for your current toon rule of thumb is commonly used. Ok some people apparently can and will actually argue ad nauseum about it, personally my biggest issue with this kind of loot mechanismk is that it can hang up the flow and completely destroy the synergy in an otherwise good working group) In SW:TOR it is a bit muddier when it comes to Companions. It's not the same as alts, we (can) know that you have a companion that can make use of the item. So is a Companion a valid Part of your Character? It is. If in stead of Companions we had (armoured) mounts or vehicles we could use in combat and some kit for that dropped, we'd have no problem with rolling need if it matched our ride's needs. Companions are different from that cause you're only using one at a time and there's several choices. So our own views of how useful Companion A-E is for Class X gets into play. But only the Player who's companion it is can really make that call. Ideally the game'd have three levels. Greed, Need-Companion, Need-self. Need-self trumps Greed but Need-Companion rolls have a range that overlaps with both. Like Greed rolls 1-50, Need-Companion rolls 26-75 and Need-Self rolls 51-100 or some such. Actually the whole roll system is at fault. It has the whole greedy needy people issue built in from the start. BW just piled another layer of moral ambiguity on it. Round Robin might be a better system actually, but then you got the problem with BInd on Pickup gear you can't use for example. "Fair" would be if instead of blue/purple/orange e.t.c. gear FP's only dropped Commendations, but then we'd have to forego the thrill of that brightly coloured loot-beam reaching to the skies. And let's face it, Bioware's not going to remove any gambling based system (which loot rolls are) now that that's their main source of income. I prefer the netiquette way of trying to create a consensus with the group about it before the issue even rises, but if people want to roll Need for their Companions, fair enough. It's still their Need roll vs mine then. And I don't care enough about people rolling Need when (I feel) they shouldn't to destroy the fun of the Flashpoint arguing about it. Loot that I'll outlevel way too soon (thanks to double XP weekends) is less important to me than having fun.
  18. I actually did this a while back. I noticed my toons weren't getting the Boons from other toons that they should. What happened was, all my alts had left the Legacy but I could simply drag a new 'Main' to the central panel and attach the alts any way I liked and it was all back in business. The only thing you lose permanently are any Legacy Character Perks you bought for the character you deleted.
  19. Rule of thumb: - Light armour helmets are hidden, (or is that just hoods?). - Meidum armour helmets have the lekku burst through - Heavy armour helmets replace the entire head with the helmet (so hides the lekku) Come to think of it, headbands (Light armour) are shown like medium stuff. When in doubt CTRL+leftClick for preview Never bothered with the Miralukans as their default masks already have clipping issues with the default heads.
  20. I don't care if they're canonical or not but by the end of the second Ewok movie it's clear that as a species they're too stupid to be allowed to live and really nothing but annoying...
  21. Bioware tackled the issue of some people liking rested XP and some not by making the gaining of rested XP dependant on a condition. You have to log off in a Rest Zone, typically planet-side cantina's and the central area of the Fleet (which is in fact also a cantina) in order to get rested XP. Log out anywhere other than in these specific zones and you don't get rested XP. It's really quite easy to avoid getting rested XP in this game.
