  1. Crafting - I want to be able to craft viable gear that I can sell to others.

In what "modern" MMO have you had this aside from perhaps EVE? The crafted gear in MMOs usually isn't worth the cost/effort 99.9% of the time and is quickly replaced with drops or point based gear if it is reasonable to buy/craft.

  2. Heck the game that most people compare SWTOR against doesn't have a tax system, though it does have guild perks, one of which provides additional loot to the guild bank every time a guild member receives loot.

Which essentially functions as a guild "tax", the Guild collects revenue from the actions of their members.

You want the guild to pay for repairs? Those credits have to come from somewhere, either donations from members, item sales on the GM which are then deposited to the GB, or a "tax" system of some sort. Whether that tax is a percentage of credits looted by members or a magically appearing additional percentage that automatically goes in the GB.

You kids today and your belief that benefits are "Free". Take Economics 101 and learn that there is no such thing as a free lunch, though magically appearing "extra credits" comes close, even then it requires the membership to actually do "work". If everyone stood around in Fleet chatting the GB would be pretty empty.

  3. i never saw someone get kicked for no reason

but i saw alot of "cool story" from ppl who say (aka LIE) "i done everything so well!" heal, tank and dps and all this in same time and like a god but then suddenly was kicked for no reason!!1!

When you have 6 level 85s and run dailies & get all the weekly points for all of them that's a ton of instances so you do experience a wide variety of things and players. I've seen those "cool story" people too. I've done my share of kicking people out of groups too, I've been kicked a few times as well, usually because like the other guy that posted I warn people and then let them die.

You pull it you tank it. You want to stand in the bad stuff you die. Man you're not a DK, its usually a good idea to tank in Defensive stance and use a shield.

Edit: Though as time went on the "you pull it you tank it" got used less because the healers almost never ran out of mana and AoE tanking got silly. As a tank my motto was "Pull like you gotta pee" as long as heals had mana and everyone's health was decent.

  4. Shows me where I have been and where I haven't.

This is the reason for it, its a "guide" that says "Hey man you haven't been here, there might be stuff here you want to check out."

Personally I think with a sci-fi game there needs to be some modification. On known/civilized planets like Coruscant or Nar Shaddaa you should be able to see the map outlines with areas you haven't been to shaded in some color. Places like Tatooine would have a combination of blacked out areas that represent unexplored areas or wilderness and shaded areas around the cites.

  5. well at least you understand one thing. There's nothing social about the game currently, and no community to protect.

It's a shame you have become so embittered that you don't trust anyone you play with. Perhaps you should stick to single player games if this is the case?

When PuGing I just don't have high expectations for the other members of the group. I hope they're compentent but am not suprised if they aren't. I hope they aren't D-bags that roll need on everything but am not surprised if they are. I hope that they are going to be there the entire run and have taken care of things so they don't have to AFK but am not suprised if they do.

Nice try at the personal attack though, if you want tons of random people to game with perhaps X-box live? I hear you can get a CoD game real fast there.

  6. kekeke, still active

okay let's talk about this one

we hear only one part of story, by "victim", but what about of that tank point of view?

and other 3 ppl who then vote-kicked him?

you want us believe that tank leaved for no reason at all and then 3 other ppl vote-kicked him, again for no reason? huh?

    really?

Yes. Most people will agree to a kick as soon as it is initiated, doesn't matter why. They don't know you nor care, you're easily replacable. Even worse are when you get like 3-4 from a guild. They could ninja with impunity, or "Oh hey Ziggy logged on let's boot this guy and get Ziggy". Add in the DF debuff/cooldown that kept you sidelined for 15-30 minutes depending on time.

I've tanked groups where the DPS sucked and they booted the healer, I've healed groups where the DPs was pulling aggro and blaming the rage starved Warrior. Bye bye Warrior. I've seen DPS kicked cause they were "last" on the DPS meter but weren't far behind the other two DPS. Again G.I.F.T. comes into play with a vengence.

  7. I'm not dodging the question. No matter if I had instantly got a group or waited an hour for one, I do not act badly in a group.

You are judging everyone under the assumption that they're a bad player waiting to happen. It's amazing how those who want to preserve community are so anti-social.

Anti-Social...I don't believe that term means what you think it means. Standing anonymously in a crowd of thousands at some event does not make you "social", nor does a cross server LFG tool.

Quite honestly 10 years of experience across multiple MMOs has taught me that everyone I don't have pre-existing experience with is a "bad" player until they prove otherwise. Bad covering the gamut from inexperienced (very willing to work with them) to plain incompetent, to ninjas, to extended/frequent AFKers, to those that intentionally attempt to wipe the group. It usually doesn't take long for people to establish that they don't merit the "bad" rating, though ninjas can fool ya, and it also usually don't take long for them to prove they deserve it too.

  8. and a hand-picked, small group of people represent the playbase how?

A small group of hand picked (and if you believe they aren't...well I've got a bridge for sale real cheap) people represent the will of the people how? Studies and surveys use the same methods to supposedly tell the media what everyone believes and wants.

  9. If I spend 30-45 minutes finding a group, then spend an hour getting near the end and the Tank then decides he has to go before the end, and that I'll have to wait another 30-45 minutes to get another Tank...

No, I'm not going to feel like any of that was rewarding.

I did not ask you if you'd feel more rewarded, I asked you if you would act in a manner that would jeprodize the group's stability (causing someone to leave) or that would risk your removal from the group. Don't dodge the question.

  10. I'm sorry but no, it's not right. Working to get a group? That's ludicrous. It does not make the FP feel any more rewarding, it means you have less time in which to actually enjoy the game. You end up trying to rush through the FP as fast as you can because you wasted so much time trying to get a group!

Have you actually thought this through?

    Let me ask you this.

If it takes you 30-45 minutes to find a group are you going to do anything to jeprodize the groups stability or your position in that group?

I have no issue with a LFG tool, in fact I agree that one is needed badly, just not one that pulls from multiple servers. I also support the merging of lower population servers and/or a character transfer solution.

  11. Also your "instant gratification" argument is wrong. That refers to rewarding people for no effort. People are still putting in the effort to finish the Flashpoint. Preferring to find a group for one within 30 minutes rather than 3 hours is not "instant gratification" that's just normal.

Nope, its quite right. If you have to work for that group you're going to try to get the most out of that run as possible.

The X-server LFG tool gets you a group fast, said group then proceeds to run the instance in as short as time possible so they can re-queue to whack the loot pinata again. Been there, done that. My 2 tanks and 2 healers had practically insta-pop as soon as I queued and I was usually finished all four of their instance dailies in about an hour.

  12. Never seen a valid reason yet.

You say people act bad in if there is a LFD, don't use it.

    Shockingly simple isn't it?

I don't believe anyone has an issue with a LFG tool, its the X-server LFG tool that people are speaking out about. Personally I think that the lack of server specific forums has impeded the sense of community in SWTOR.

You believe community doesn't exist? Well when I PVP I know when I see certain names/guilds in the WZ whether or not its going to be a good match or not and likely if we're going to win. I also kow that if people from a certain guild get recruited into a FP group that I should bow out cause they will ninja, AFK, or drop and the group will end up falling apart right after 90% of the time. I'm not the only one who notes such things either.

I'd also go as far to say that another reason "community" is lacking is that many current players either started playing or got used to that play style on other MMOs that already had the X-server tools and thus are conditioned away from a sense of community. It also plays to the "instant gratification" that younger players are so used to in their lives. "Its my FP and I want it NOW!!!!11!1!"

  13. The people here who defend this game and attack ideas are worse than the one in that othere game.

Man you must be really thin skinned...er, sensitive. Everyone disagreeing with the OP has been civil. Nor have I seen anyone "defending" the game, just strongly disagreeing with serverwide channels, and its more like we've been there and done that and know how it will turn out. That is called "the voice of experience" my friend.

Most people agree a LFG tool is needed so you don't have to sit in Fleet and spam chat.

  14. i think its important to have a LFG for the following reason

1 - You can leave the imp or rep fleet and go do other things while a group is being assembled

2 - You dont have to wait around at the fleet watching spam in the general channel of people trying to find groups

3 - It removes a large chunk of elitism from the game, games are meant to be fun, there is nothing fun about some upstart kicking you out of the group and then publicly broadcasting that dont play with this guy because his gear is not up to scratch. Ive seen that happen to too many players.

    Agree with 1 & 2:

Cross server LFG tool/PVP is bad. I saw what it did to WoW and didn't like it. No need for Friends lists or worrying about your rep, just get random group 4674574 together and git 'er done. If random healer #691 sucks kick them and get another. Feel like ninjaing that item for your companion? No problem, cause if your rep is crap it don't matter cause to everyone else your just random body #12345 and they'll likely never see you again or you them.

Basically it leads to or intensifies the G.I.F.T.

  15. No, i have alot of mmo experience. If its so bad, then lets pick the biggest example...Eve online. ONE server. You have chat channels the WHOLE server can communicate with. If its such a BAD idea....how the hell does the community survive!!!! How? Because its actually a community. Its an MMO for a reason - to play and TALK with other people. NO one complains....ooo...to many lines went by. Man up and scroll up then. If you notice spammers....block...fixed.

Ive seen the newbie channels in EVE and they aren't pretty either. IIRC there aren't any automatically joined sever wide channels in EVE that all players are a part of. You can make one, just like in SWTOR but people have to join it. There are the NPC Corp channels and they often are terrible too.

  16. Open up General chat for EVERY SINGLE PERSON in the server to read and chat.

    YE GODS NOOOOOOOOOOO!

You haven't thought that through very much have you? Either that or you have little to no experience with MMOs.

Barrens/Elwyn Forrest Chat is all I need to say as most people will know what I mean. Later it moved into Trade Chat. ::shudder::

While I would like a server only LFG tool so I can be on another planet while I wait for a group I definitely don't want a serverwide chat channel. Also the mission dropbox idea is fine, they just need to make the dropbox universal. So basically you could pick up the PVE Flashpoint and PVP dailies at a mission box anywhere in the galaxy and turn it in at any drop box.

Additionally with the LFG tool you should be able to port to the hangar or ship where the FP is.

  17. Anyone who has come over from WoW or any other MMO knows about the whole gear treadmill that constitutes endgame MMOs. In WoW my S1 arena gear wasn't suddenly useless when S2 started, I could use that gear to build upon until my S2 set was complete.

Actually that is one of the reasons I quit WoW. Grinding out the Arena wins for all my gear for both specs only to have to grind Honor gear next season because its better than last season's Conquest gear. Then have to grind out the current season's Conquest gear...

That ruined it for me. I'd have been ok with next season's Honor gear being equal to last season's Conquest gear to level the field for newer players. That combined with a similar thing on the PVE side was just a little too much gear treadmill for me.

  18. BioWare before you implement rated PVP and have leaving as a loss AND a lock out you need to fix the code 9000 and other server/latency disconnect issues.

Nothing sucks more than to disconnect out of a winning (or even a good losing) match and not get credit for anything you've done. To get penalized for issues on BioWare's end is just horrible and wrong.
