  1. This actually makes me a bit disappointed. So far I have had patience thinking BW is aware of what is critical and working on it but this announcement kinda goes against that.

It seems that BW is not aware of the importance of this for the more silent crowd (those that have enjoyed the game instead of raging on the forum). Does it actually have to come to that who screams the most or loudest on the forums are the ones that get fixes??

BW I ask of you that extra actionbars is something that you will put higher on your priority list and preferably get in game a week or so after 1.2 hits live.

  2. To bring maybe some knowledge into this thread:

First, lets just be clear that the definition of what is included/excluded in a game engine is very lose. The base is that it should be code that is reusable, setting independant and HW-independant but in some cases thats not even true. The engines that exist also usually focus on one or several categories like some are specialized on mobile platforms, some on 2D or 3D, some on FPS and some on MMO.

All this should be considered before just saying "Why did they not use engine X"

If you want a crash course then Wikipedia as always is your friend: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Game_engine

  3. Not everyone is born 733t-killers so show the OP some respect.

My suggestion is that you take a look at your spec and your gear and see how you can improve there. also important to match your spec with your companion. If for example you are tank specced then use a healing (or DPS) companion if you are DPS use a tank (or heal) companion and if you are heal specced use a DPS (or tank) companion.

  4. I think you need to wait a week more. Most casuals are just now turning 50 (<2 hours/day).

I played since 5 day headstart and I am now 49½.

Usually we are the big mass that will make getting into FP/OP and WZ easy for you who play a bit more.

EDIT: to back up with some math

    1-50 around 5-6 days = 120-150 hours

    15 dec to 25 feb = 72 days (??) a 2 hours = 144 hours

  5. The defining key to Sandbox is Player driven may it be economy, world, events or whatever. As opposed to themepark which is dev driven, i.e the developers provide the content.

Now, you gotta ask yourself this:

Taking into account all those posting on this forum, would you want them to drive your gameplay or would you like BW to do it?

To me the answer is simple, I happily put my faith into BW hands instead of letting spoiled 7331-kids ruin my time off.

Also keep in mind that the level of enjoyment of a sandbox game follows the time spend in game. So if your RL dont allow for playing games more then a hour or two a day then Sandbox is probably not for you.

Now, do I think Sandbox is bad? No, it's just not my kind of game.

Would I like some Sandbox elements in SWTOR? Hell yea, if not for anything else then to make the forums a bit more quiet.

  6. Your right we shouldn't expect swtor to be an mmo...wait a minute that argument is completely illogical!

I love how intensely people will defend the game and accept the bare bones mmo experience.

Me I love the game but it needs improvement And I don't plan to stick my head in the sand and hope for the best.

Seems its more your definition of a mmo that is a bit narrow rather then any arguments being illogical.

All I'm asking is that you save your raging for stuff where they really messed up not on stuff that they said would not be in.

  7. I've been waiting for this game since before it was announced so to speak.

According to proof in other threads (too lazy to look them up and post links in here, but you get the point which ones) the game is on a decline.

This is very sad, the game is amazing and innovative, yet something, somewhere must have gone wrong along the line. The reason most people are leaving after an amazing launch must be a mix of a bit of everything.

I'd like to say that alot of the so called bug are between the monitor and the chair. Me, for example, I have an Alienware, and no problems like others describe on my rig. Ok, I'm a pro-gamer so you don't need a beast, but invest a little bit is a minimal effort.

Anyway, I can't keep you from unsubbing so I'm gonna end with:

    can I have your credits?

PS: not a native english speaker.

I'm glad to inform you that, according to EA official released figures, the game is actually doing very well with more the 2 million sold games and a subscriber base of 1.7 million accounts making it one of the most succesfull MMOs ever.

So you can continue to experience the wonderful world of SWTOR for a long time together with millions of other players.

  8. Well, mostly because every mmo has a combat log. F2P cash shop MMOs have a combat log. Just because BW informed us that it doesn't have a combat log doesn't mean it shouldn't have one. If BW took out the AH at release that would make it ok because they told us they were going to right?

    Yes

For example I played CoH at release and they neither had gear nor AH and I knew that but played the game for what it was. To me it just looks stupid and typical spoiled kids of today raging on a forum about features they never claimed would be in.

  9. EVERY

    MMO

    NEEDS

    A

    COMBAT

    LOG

MMOs from 10+ years ago had combat logs.

There excuse for not putting in a combat log? Performance issues. What? How is text gathering going to cause performance issues? I wasn't in early betas but some beta testers stated that there used to be a combat log...

Also, I didn't buy the game. A friend bought it for me.

Again, if according to you, a MMO needs a combat log and SWTOR does not have one and BW informed that it would not have one at release. Why be upset??? Play another game that has your vital combat log but dont come raging on the forum when you KNEW it would not have it.

  10. It is a missing feature. I don't care if they claimed it would not be in game. For people that like to min/max it is a VERY...VERY... important feature. To not have one in 2012 is stupid.

Claiming something is missing while knowing it would not be in and maintaining that opinion is just....stupid.

If they announced it would be in or even avoided answering it then your raging is ok but they informed you it would not be in. So if that is vital to you then why the heck did you buy the game knowing it would not be in???

  11. I find this "missing features" very interesting. I'm ok with people getting upset over bugs and that sort of stuff but getting upset over features that BW NEVER said they would have is just plain stupid. In fact BW even announced that combat log and LFD-system would NOT be in game.

Buying a product knowing something you want is missing and then raging in a forum that it is missing is just stupid.

BW decides what to put in the game, you decide to play the game or not.

  12. I think in essence why RIFT will not be that successful while SWTOR will be is because RIFT was all about the endgame which is what I think people refer to as WoW clone while SWTOR is the whole experience and also emphasize a lot more on RPG which differs it from WoW.

Unsuccessful = less then 1 million subs

Successful = more then 2 million subs

Inbetween 1 and 2 and its up for debate.

For those of you that think "Game starts at max level" then I can understand why you might be some disappointed but in all fairness thats more reading comprehension cause BW has been straight with what there focus was before launch.
