  1. not sure what level you are at, or if you play with alts, in a guild etc. however, your barrels are better than anything i can get any other way, so if i do get an orange item, I still want what you are selling. and if you want to play on the cheap and avoid the 3x cost of orange items, you can make your own purples that dont need the mods.
  2. the problem with the current model is that it favors min maxing, rather than being a tradeskiller. lets explain this some. right now, most people "in the know" pick a tradeskill based upon its effect on their game play. this makes a lot of sense, especially for raiders, where every little bit helps, and this leads to flavor of the month picks as well due to obvious imbalances like biochem currently has. that is most specifically NOT what they have ever discussed for tradeskills. they always talked about being a "trade skiller" IE someone that OTHERS want to go to since you can do something special they cannot do for themselves. Thus, all those biochem, etc specific items? not one of them should exist. or if they do, they should be tradable, and usable without restriction. the reason is, thats how to make it something special. the permanent med packs? those should be artifacts costing at least a million credits in hard to get mats to create and requiring a pattern that the crafter sweat blood and tears to learn. Not RAID to get, but WORKED to get, preferably on his own. Yes, 1000 blue REs later, Bing, i can now make it. I worked for it, not a raid, not massive hours of PVP, but me, alone, tradeskilling. make it a very hard mission that only comes up once a blue moon, then once you finally succeed on that, then you can make something to RE to refine into the final object, that way if people want to help you, they could send their own companions on that quest when it came up, but then trade you the recipe, but otherwise, you are in for a lot of work of your own. look at EQ2 and Vanguard crafting.. where you as the player have to interact with the creation process to get better than crap results. those are tradeskill systems that matter. hint, you only do this for final goods, things that are grey or simply low level mats should be click to create since they should be trivial at max skill levels. so while leveling, you can still work hard to make epic gear for yourself, but once you trivialize the recipe, you can click and get an average result, or go to craft it manually with a high likelyhood of a better than average result. top gear would never be "trivial"
  3. I've already got 2 gatherers and 1 crafter. this is due to having other crafters in guild (real life friends) so no need for craft skills of my own. now we just need a guild bank to be able to centrally store all of this stuff!
  4. the only crafting system that allows "server sought" crafters; is one where recipes and materials are so rare as to make the results not worth the effort compared to the alternatives. the problem is this. if i join a raiding group, I get X level loot. If im willing to PVP, I get Y level loot. if im not interested in either of those things then i get either X or Y minus 1 loot. IE no matter what, you must raid or pvp to get the best rewards. being a crafter is merely a side effect of that. you are not a crafter. your raid group has a crafter. the reason why you become a "guild pet" is because its the guild's time investment that makes you a crafter, not your own. Bioware, Figure out a way where *I* can become a crafter thats worthy of note, rather than simply a raider with a tradeskill. right now everything im seeing is raiders with trade skills. im still enjoying the game though, so you have time. I should be level 50 in about 2-3 weeks. at that point if my dailies replace my tradeskills, yea, i dont really have a reason to keep playing. If i really want to raid, i already have wow for that. I already have established characters for that. i have no reason to learn it all over again in a game that doesnt even allow me to setup a useful UI yet. I came to starwars to get away from that, not to change the way it looks. add skill failures on crafting. add exceptional procs beyond simply single augment slots. add recipe choices like adding extra materials for a chance of better results. IE take out the static, wow style crafting system and replace it with something more dynamic. cause at this point waiting 20 minutes or more for results isnt compelling. and DEing oh, 're'ing stuff to learn recipes is simply a rote process of throwing away money for recipes. its neat and all, but its also done at some point with no continuing value. the only thing it does is separate a new tradeskiller from an established one "ie it takes XXX hours or YYY purchases to learn all base recipes" we need something more than that. where is my questing to discover new recipes? where is my questing to get rare tradeskill mats.
  5. because they dont have accounts, so they cant even read the forums.
  6. i think hes also concerned about keeping the mod usability. that said, the orange items generate their stats based on their mods from what i have seen, so why would you bother? is it a particularly good looking item or something?
  7. i was sorta surprised at that as well. i dont mind tradeskills having random results, but merchants? lame.
  8. the phone app is for people that dont have the keyfob. they dont intend you to use both. the activation code is the one the app creates when you install it.
  9. This. one of the best things wow ever did was move elite mobs into appropriate content and out of the single player settings except at rare intervals where they made sense. grinding elites is not fun. a occasional challenge where a quest leads you to an elite fight is awesome though.
  10. all zones have a population limit, when its reached a new instance spawns. it has no effect on world PVP except to prevent major land battles that would adversely affect the play of everyone anyway. IE if you overcrowd an area, have fun waiting 2-3 seconds for each attack to register on the server. remember, the number of players is what the server hardware can reliably handle, you may not like that you cannot have 100 v 100 server battles, but they are saving you from yourself. 100v 100 in a 50 person zone would be unplayable.
  11. its closer to EQ2 than wow really. and yes, it takes away from the game. but at the same time, its still enjoyable in its own way.
  12. the game has enough alternative currency systems to minimize the effect of gold sellers.
  13. you are fooling yourself then. the game is more popular than that. on Wrath's release for instance, at midnight most servers ended up with queues. some for the first time ever.
  14. nah, your post just dropped off too fast. you can install from the disks, then you will need to patch up.
  15. you should be pegging 60fps most of the time with vsync on. do the normal maintenance first... update drivers for your motherboard gpu and sound, then check the obvious like gpu temperature. if your card is overheating it will clock down and the game will run like crap, while something as simple as forcing the fan to full speed can prevent it. (i hate nvidia defaults for the fans!)
  16. do not disable or uninstall .net too many things depend on it, for instance ATI users have to have it for their full driver package to install. do not disable random services, especially without knowing what might need them. search is well explained here, the rest are not. leave them on. disabling screen font smoothing, etc, is pointless on current gen PCs, these features are not an impact on any processor newer than a pentium 4. many of the ideas in this guide are simply holdovers from 10 years of trying to make gaming faster.
  17. its usually listed on their website under contact us.
  18. your GPU is more than enough, your CPU is slow, it is holding your GPU back
  19. depending on your budget, get a 560ti card or a 550 if you are on the cheap. check the specs to make sure your current PSU can handle it however. it will make a major difference for you.
  20. yes, thats not a video card, the performance will be as bad as your current laptop or worse.
  21. check your video card to see if its overheating, otherwise, run a repair.
  22. he said he was part of the unit, he forgot to mention he was their quartermaster.
  23. default sound channels is 4, 16 is extended, and 64 usually reserved for cards with dedicated DSP chips like Xonar, asus, and the x-fi higher end cards. 256 isnt realistic, you would have your cpu up to about 30% utilization on sound channels alone at that point.
  24. you are forgetting the biggest point. you have played the game before, you are not a newbie. start thinking like one before you rate the difficulty.
