  1. It would be more useful with the boss' cast bar visible. Now I couldn't see if and when you interrupted his self heal. When I tried to do it, he kept healing so his health stayed somewhere between 50% and 75%, so I just gave it up. I noticed elsewhere that other bosses, too, recast an interrupted ability (almost) at once. If this is intentional, it is a stupid mechanic, since an interrupt should put the ability on cool down. I'm rather thinking that it's in fact not intentional, but a side effect of some fix or tweak or whatever, but since it doesn't outright crash the game, the devs have decided to call it a feature and leave it as is. The game is full of such features, after all. My "favorite" one is the barely functioning companion crafting interface, but that's another story entirely that could be written volumes about.
  2. Since some people seem to be missing my point, I'll repeat it here: I cannot kill the final boss at all because of the self heals. Other than that, the fight is manageable. It is a slap in the face that after having interrupted his self heal once, he recasts it after just a couple of seconds. I tried it with my lvl75 ilvl280 jedi consular and imp operative, with lvl35 Lana healing me (she really should put more effort to it...) Other than the final boss, the difficulty level seems about equal to what it used to be in KOTFE. I don't need better gear or anything, I just need to be able to interrupt the heals, which I'm not. That mechanic alone destroys the whole thing for me.
  3. It's probably useless replying to this old post, but I'm sufficiently annoyed and frustrated to do so anyway... Back when I was 70, it was time consuming but not particularly difficult to solo veteran mode star fortresses with shabby tanking gear and lvl 20 Lana healing me. Not so any more. I can get to the exarch (final boss) readily enough, but that's where I hit the wall. Back in KOTFE I used the "brilliant" tactic of standing with my back to the wall and interrupting only the exarch's self heals. Now he rips me to pieces if I try that. Ok, fair enough, except that I can't prevent him from healing, since after I interrupt his heal, he re-casts it 5 seconds later. I tried Nar-Shaddaa and Voss both several times, and finally gave up disgusted, since barring some glitch and/or extremely good luck, it just doesn't seem possible to solo these now...
  4. Everything concerning the performance of the eternal fleet is "terrible writing" considering the premise that they completely decimated the imperial and republic fleets to begin with, and only the isotope-5 equipped imperial ships were able to outrun them. There are countless numbers of those ships, and every time we face them, their weapons seem strangely ineffective. Even worse, the eternal fleet completely loses its edge against regular imp/pub ships. I can sort of see how the Alliance might have been able to integrate Iokath tech to theirs, a huge undertaking though it would be. But Acina's lfleet should have been cut to ribbons above Voss. It's quite apparent that they cut corners in writing the story in order to be able to move it along. The first time I played through it I considered writing a long post with a list of everything that bothered me about it, but what would be the point. If I stumble across a thread discussing the issues, I might contribute to it, like I just did here. Sorry about not sticking to the subject btw
  5. Cyborg Scoundrel, although class/race was irrelevant. My first character to reach Ossus. - Empress Acina did right by Alliance and myself. - Republic didn't offer any support but decided to keep bowing to Zakuul, instead. - Malcolm Jace was an Ahole on Iokath and I had no reason to betray Acina there. - As smuggler, I don't really feel like I owe any allegiance to the Republic. However, when I found out that the Empire were being aggressors on Ossus, all my subsequent characters, both rep and imp, decided to side with the Republic. Let bygones be bygones, eh?
  6. I think I found a solution. Since I'm probably not the only one having this stuttering problem, here's what I did: - I changed game mode to Fullscreen Windowed (counter intuitive, but see the link) - I checked "Disable Fullscreen Optimizations" box in properties of swtor.exe It's possible that both of these aren't needed, but I'm not going to experiment with it since it works now.
  7. I have i7-8700K, 1080Ti, SSD, 32GB RAM. The rig runs everything else just beautifully at 4k resolution, including ESO, which is much more graphic intensive, and runs smoothly at ~100FPS. So SWTOR should be piece of cake even at everything turned to MAX like Geforce Experience suggests. But something is very wrong. It looks lovely when I stand still, but moving forward is quite choppy. Even inside a relatively featureless place, like starship hangar. I've turned down the settings for shadows and antialias (and grass and trees) to no effect: it's just as choppy. Has anyone else had the same problem, and if so, have you found the reason - and a fix for it? Thank you for any insight in the matter.
  8. Then all the rest: I leveled up all 8 of my characters back in the day when same sex romances weren't possible. For whatever reason, I avoid romancing males, and since 4 of the characters are females, they ended up bitter and single I did make a male SW after, since Jaesa seemed interesting. However, Vette is kinda adorable in her perky way, and great fun to shock every time she suggested I remove her collar. When she finally settled to her fate as an abused slave, my evil sith heart softened and I let Jaesa become lonely and bitter. The girl was a basket case anyway. Nothing like my cute Vette. So, my trooper, SW, and SI girls all missed out and became spinsters at an early age. JC grudgingly accepted Iresso's advances, although the guy is really bland. She has kinda regretted it ever since, although she didn't want to break the poor guy's heart on Odessen after all he had gone through. My BH is big, fat, and ugly. After vacillating some, he decided to go on light side, mainly because Mako is such a cutie, and he wanted to do right by her. He resisted her advances for a time, since they are obviously quite mismatched, and all he ever wanted to do was hug the little girl. Finally, since the only way to show her how much he cared for her was to start the dang romance, he gave up and went for it. Kira is too pretty to resist, so my JK took a deep breath and succumbed to her temptations regardless of otherwise being a stickler to jedi code. Not much more to say about that one. Risha is perhaps my favorite. Of course my smuggler smelled an opportunity to court a princess, ffs, so that was a no-brainer. I like her, too. She's a perfect match for a guy in that line of work. I mistakenly flirted with Akavi, as well, but this was my first character, so I forgive myself - even though my smuggler nearly wet himself when Akavi took the innocent flirt somewhat too seriously. That's one scary lady! As of others, should I ever make more characters: Ashara has a cute face and voice, but I can't hack the silly harlequin face paint and the preposterous head pillows. I'm tempted to check out LS Jaesa, but less tempted to make a third SW. Ensign Temple doesn't seem interesting. Dunno. Same with Elara Dorne. Nadia I can take or leave, doesn't really matter. And I can't say anything about males as I don't swing that way. Peace out.
  9. Fun chain. I'll make a contri or two. First Kaliyo: My (male) IA is a total A-hole, always choosing the most offensive conversation choices - except with the companions, whom he's civil toward, since he prefers them loyal and not rearing to stab him in the back at an inopportune moment - or ever. Thus, Kaliyo is a real delight: she's just like my IA, and they hit it off from the start. It's an open relationship with murder and mayhem and snide remarks. I gagged a little at the marriage part, but I decided that the commitment was for the time being while they felt like it. Kaliyo's suggestion of ditching the politics and flying off in IA's beautiful stealth ship was very appealing, and let's say they did just that. KOTFE is another story in another galaxy far far away. And quite frankly, the reunions are short and disappointing, and there's absolutely no interaction after them at all. Still, better than nothing.
  10. Disclaimer: I'm not often on forums and I'm sure this topic has been beaten to death by now, but this is just overwhelmingly annoying! Whose "brilliant" design decision are these forced triggers anyway? I was just doing the introductory Ossus storyline, and Darth Mallora (or some such) dropped something purple when I defeated her in the library. Why in the nine hells am I not allowed to loot stuff before the cinematics cut in??? This happens elsewhere too, but now my cup runneth over enough to complain about it. The 20 minute uninterruptible cinematic sequences are stupid enough without additional annoyances like this. So: 1a) Let me trigger stuff myself. I cannot emphasize this enough. I highly doubt that anyone is too stupid to be able to do so with the big colorful triangle on top of the triggering person or object. 1b) If you insist upon keeping the "brilliant" automatic triggering, at the very least auto loot everything within range into my character's inventory. 2) FFS partition the cinematics into max 5 minute sections. I can't always sit at my computer without having to do something else in between. Annoyances like this drive people away, and that shouldn't be any profitable company's goal. Do something constructive about this! Thanks for letting me blow out steam. I'm going to go play something else now.
  11. I'm not sure what you mean, but when you press 'b' and then select the crew skill on a crew member, the crit and time bonuses are shown at bottom of missions list. Which brings me to my question: what does the crit rate affect if anything? If my crew member has crit rate of 40%, they sure as heck don't return with purple sliced tech parts from their missions 40% of the time. In fact, it's more like 10%, which is quite annoying when trying to get the 4 pieces of grade 8 'Adaptive Circuitry' for each of my characters to hand in weekly to C2N2 for alliance specialist level advancement.
  12. Just in case this helps someone in similar situation: I updated for latest GeForce drivers and now it works. Mystery is why it decided to stop working between now and last night, but I'll just count my lucky stars for now.
  13. I just came back from a year's break a couple of days back and had no issues until just now. When I fire up the launcher, give it my password, and press PLAY, the process disappears after couple of seconds from task manager, and nothing further happens. I don't remember if this has been an issue before, and if so, what would be the cause and possible remedy. Reinstalling would be an exercise in futility, as there were no problems last night. It's likely some sort of handshake issue with game server.
  14. Judging from number of minor and variously annoying bugs that have been in the game since the beginning, I have come to conclusion that EA isn't giving a rat's behind about customer feedback, so just don't bother. This completely nonsensical mail confirmation issue does perhaps take the cake, though
  15. You said it. Besides, most of these so-called races are humies with different color faces, tattoos, and/or cancerous head growths. Quite childish, when you think of it. I can sort of come to terms with the pair of limp sausages hanging from the back of the heads of twi'leks, but what's with the harlequin paint and weird looking head pillow of togrutas? Not to mention the other "race" with the horned head pillow (oops, I mentioned it anyway). Aanyway, I can think of tons of more interesting additions to the game, although, who am I to diss other people's preferences, eh?
