  1. I do solo can and we run guild groups. 1vs1 is never an issue. any thing not in Heavy armor drops fast. If healer gets on go for heals pretty simple. most healers in the game become unless if focused on by burst class which either forces them to run away which means they are not healing others, or in some cases like BH they eat it over and over until they get messed up by CC or cancel abilites. Again that chance of 12% just got taken out by 8sec CC
  2. It can be tested we have the stats and using a person to play dummy in full BM and with you with both sets and same mods you can see the numbers thats why I think the BM needs to be fixed to be more inline.
  3. Ah that is true, however now in order for your armor to be 12% more effective you have to get the heals which is where the flaw is and why I believe that Rakata is better. In most WZ people travel in as a pact for the first few minutes but soon as they all split most plays will not have a healer near by which makes that 12% a chance and a low one at that if you are not with a bunch of friends or good healers that work well. But add in CC's and Rakata geared can control the 12% wihch is why BM gear is failing

  5. I took this example from another thread. I sear though my Rakata has extra stats I will have to check this once I get back on line. Let's use an example: These are exact DPS stat + Endurance for Combat Tech(powertech dps) Helmet: RAKATA = 122 AIM 105 Endurance BM = 94 Aim 92 Endurance Hands: RAKATA = 122 AIM 105 Endurance BM = 94 Aim 92 Endurance Body: RAKATA = 112 AIM 116 Endurance BM = 94 Aim 92 Endurance Legs: RAKATA = 122 AIM 105 Endurance BM = 94 Aim 92 Endurance Feet: RAKATA = 112 AIM 116 Endurance BM = 94 Aim 92 Endurance (122*3+112*2-94*5)/(94*5) = 25.53% increase in DPS stats that Rakata has over Battlemaster (thank you wolfram alpha ) In every case, Rakata has more endurance and more aim. this is the SAME throughout ALL the dps class sets(the tanking sets have way more endurance). This is WHY rakata is so much better, as expertise just doesn't stack up as well as the extra dps and endurance stats.

Thats what I am saying it sure seems that way and I wanted to see how people would argue the other side to see if maybe I am missing something or not modding right... basically I wanted someone to sell me into my BM gear as to why I want to wear it. Now mind you looking at this thread and a few others it would seem that some classes get the same stats or so they say, but as a IA sniper My Rakata gives me a few more k in health and over 150more dps. , more crits and more surge... vs BM gear with a small 500 health on a heal and maybe some extra dmg is they guy is wearing less BM gear.
  7. But that doesnt hold true in Dmg and Kills. In my Rakata as a Sniper I am almost always top dmg and kills in Rakata and in my BM gear same mods I get almost 100k less dmg and fewer kills. This is why I want to know why BM vs the Rakata. I dont see any benifits other than Heals to live longer, but if I am getting top kills and top dmg than extra heals could help but like I said in my BM I cant achive that goal seems almost like its less over all. I still think it has more to do with Rakata having more over all stats and higher crit / surge maybe instead of the expertise.

Yeah any better gear is worth it in our case I agree Cunning, however I take power over cunning myself. seems that 5 cunning = 1 power its easier to get more dps going power , cunning than surge and crit last. I agree weapons are always most important as your dmg is based on weapon dmg than bonus from our stats.
  9. hmm not sure how your BM gear is better than Rakata. Rakata has more End, more primary stat, than add what ever mods you use in and you still end up with better dmg stats than what Expertise attemps to do. Heals are the only benifit. If I wear full BM and you wear full BM the Expertise does nothing my extra %dmg will be removed by your %reduction so tell me how that is better than the extra +crit in expertises place on the Rakata? Only way it is better is if you are fighting people that are less geared than you. Seems like a failed stat. As to heals gained form the % that is a good bonus, however playing a sniper I dont usually worry about heals myself as Im already pretty soft I learned to just play smart as a ranged. Even with the 58 mods/enhancement you sitll wont get the same endurance or primary stat on BM as you would Rakata.

Thats my point I dont understand why we have pvp gear if the pve gear is better, I guess unless someone doesnt do both and only pvp's They really need to make the pvp gear better and remove the % dmg/def vs player seems to cancel each other out . Id rather take +crit or surge or other usable stat vs expertise.
  11. Im a BM and I play even if I come in and its 0/4 I play to see how well I fare in that last minute vs what was done in the rest. I have also helped change the tide once on a 0/4 game and we won in the end. Not just because of me but because the people the quit allowed better geared / suited people into play that helped clean house. If you feel the need to leave because you can't stand to lose or because you dont want to support those that are just trying than perhaps an mmo is not your game. hey Id rater help a large group gain more valor and tokens than my own selfish gains. If all the good players leave than why would all the others that stay want to ever continue pvping if they lose all the time do to the lack of geared and good players? Maybe thats why our ques are taking longer.
  12. Why wear PVP gear T3 vs PVE T3? The stats even with level 58 mods are not as good. Add in expteries your dps is still less? the %less form other players is negated by the % dmg to players if they are in the same armor. Can someone explain why I would want to swap out my modded Rakata if I am top kills/dmg almost all the time for something that seems to give less return?
  13. I PVP a tonne, I am a Battlemaster and have both Tier 3 PVP and PVE gear. My findings are that my PVE Rataka gear gives me more bang than my BM gear all round. If you look at the BM gear it has lower End, lower Cunning, almost no power and is more Crit based. Add in the the Exp and you gain around 400dmg over all vs another ungeared player. Now looking at that last comment other players that have the same gear automatically negate all that added bonus that your set provides, so in reallity you only gain extra % form heals. Playing against a non geared or lower tier gear will get you more dmg however. Now even swapping out mods and the likes to beef up power will gain you some nice dps, however you will find that taking Rakata and doing the same will beef up your stats way beyond any bonus you get from the current pvp gear. On our server I almost 98% of the time comeout on top for Dmg and kills for our team wearing Rakata gear. From what I can tell Expertise is not worth the investment if you have better PVE gear. anyone care to tell me if they found that not the case?
  14. Don't for get us Eng who bring in A probe to slow the ball guy, the explosive probe we can toss on a guy for someone else to trigger to kill things faster. I think Snipers are one of the better Defensive players. We have alot of CC and leathal Burst. Anyone that rushes a sniper with out a sheild of some sort on will not live long or be sent running away for LOS / cover. After you are 50 and geared with T2 pvp or pve gear or better you will see that only the top geared from the other side will mess with you the rest will avoid you like the plague or see there skulls filled with lead in front of your smoking rifle.
  15. Not true we can output as much DPS as othe classes if played right. MM and Eng have the ability to top the charts if GEARED and if played well.
  16. I found that most of the top pvp snipers do no use natural cover and only use the cover screen. The issue with natural is how unpredictable it can be as well time to get into it. using portalble gets you into combat faster and does not limit where you strike or LoS issues that you get with Natural. If anything I would love to see them implement the same defence you get from natural into the cover screen.
  17. I have tested many builds thus far and am torn between MM hybrid and and Eng/MM mix. Currently I ended up back at the Eng build with some minor changes. I have no issues getting top dps and kills. As to the Leathal trees I did find it easy to rack up Damage and kills however I found the the Burst was not there. using Cull can provide a good amount of burst but at leathal tree uses way to much Energy to keep it going non-stop. With Eng/hybrid you can keep dropping people with only the odd time running out of energy if you had to use it all to finish someone on you. The MM can output the most Damage however they are very squishy and rely on WZ awareness and keeping ranged in order to sustain the numbers. This is why both Eng and Leathal are better for keeping things rolling well moving.
  18. I was full on PVP Eng up until 3 days ago I went back to MM to test out with new Ratak. Gear and found that the DPS was much better and more kills than my Eng. However I also lost alot of AOE and most of all Def. Abilities not to mention the probe to slow people. But as a MM now I found that if things get too hard just run to new position. My Eng on the other hand never had to run much as he could take a lot before he died. Also being able to take the ball with two Sheild probes was a life saver. All in all they both are good and have nice DPS. who knows I may return to Eng at some point in the future.
  19. I pvp every time I can. I love the cover. I do however not use the roll to cover option and always use the portable. This has fixed almost all my issues
  20. I play a PVP sniper and using mixed Ratak gear with Camp gear almost a BattleMaster. I have messed with all three trees and will continue to mess with them. From my view I think you have it wrong. We are a very good PVP class and have a lot of ways to dish and suvuve. I almost always ranks number 1 for damage unless I run up against a premade and my group is not. I run a Mixed ENG/MM build currently and have very few issues. The only issues I run into is Tank / sheild classes taking to little from our type of damge. As to the CC, we have alot. We have Pulse, Aoe Stun, single target Stun, Leg shot and knock back form ambush if taken. We also have sheild probe, Group Balsitic sheild, Dampners for def including some damage reduction depending on spec. The MM builds seem to do alot of damage but I found survival was a little weaker. The Eng on the other hand had slightly less DPS however could burst down faster imo as well had a lot more protection. The idea behind a mixed bag was for more dps and protection. I am still toying with builds trying to find the best balance. As to gear I sacrifice some expertise for shear DPS. I found the end game raid gear has more cunning and better dps than the champ stuff even with the added % vs player. 10% is not a whole lot in the grand scheme thats like 200 more damage vs. the power gear / cunning which can get my base damage to min 1.5k on white and top end 7k on crit with out using a power boosting stim. There was a post on the forms on how to play a sniper that someone posted and if you follow that tactic that you will find snipers are great. We just need to avoid standing in the middle of the fights. use you CC for escapes and resetup... dont CC and try to burst the guy down if you think you may lose as that means the odds of winning are too slim to chance. If you think you can burn the guy than do it dont hesitate every second they close in counts. Just my thoughts Cynn - ENG Sniper

  22. If Eng its worth it. Considering ever minute we can get 12% health back on something that we use in our regular rotation it helps alot. Add in Biotech Medi and we have alot more survival. Add in our sheilds with these and we can take on alot befor we drop. With the probe and Ratak Medi pack I can get int he top 8 for heals lol.
  23. Im an ENG/MM Hybrid. I tested MM tree well you do get some good dmg up front I found that too many times people line of site and cause you to refocus on someone else or move to aquire target again. Where the Eng shines is the probe that slows the target and more important the Explosiv porbe with cluster bombs. The probe helps keep people from running away well damage is applied. I usually open up with Ambush with Explosive probe instant after for the big bang, than thrown on probe and follow up with energized SoS. Most the time they are clinging to life with a fraction left if they are well armored, thus the Finisher shot as well incase another probe incase. As to the MM hybrid I went with Ambush 20% armor ignore to help with the start of the fight as well the Knock back on ambush to get me distance on melee when they are up front and personal. I gave up balistic in favor of the 31 plasma probe. I use this alot. On top of me, objectives, platforms, in clustered areas where people are fighting. I found that the damage was small like 500/ tick but most people ignore it thinking hey this doesnt hurt that much. But when comboned with you attacking that tick finishes alot of people. The best part its click and forget. meaning I dont even have to be there once I drop it. thus I can move around and it is always avalible right after it expires so no wait on dropping another. I still would not mind trying a Lethal spec just to see what I can do in my gear. I already top the charts on our server alot unless I am focused on by a good team which seem to know me and what I will do if left alone unatended. I tink the aoe eng/ Posion build would be neat to see what you can rack up for dmg/kills. Perhaps in a week or two I will give it a try. The last part about eng over MM is survival and Energy. We can pretty much keep going with little downtime. Our Sheilds take alot of focus and mixed with Camp or Battlemaster gear we can take it well on the run.
  24. I have tried both MM and Eng, and as of late I am a hybrd eng/MM. I found that hainvt eh dots form the Eng side mixed with the 20% ambush armor ignore and some other things I can reach top of the charts. I recently changed it up abit to get the 31 point eng probe which the dmg is subpar but if used every time its up and dropped in key places it racks up alot of dmg. in Hut you can drop in front of catwalks, on the other two maps always on objectives prevent people form capping and you can run around and leave it for 18 secs reply as needed. I have no issues dropping a tank, however if a tank is covered by a sroc sheild thats a diffrent story I end up having to just slow the guy down and wait for things to drop off. i wihs legshot was not considered a CC seeing we rely on it alot.
  25. I must have missed this thread before posting mine that is simular. I Personally stack Cunning/Power as my main with my crit around 33% and my Surge 87% . I found that going all out crit did give me more chances to crit however with out the power your crits = that of my regular shots. as most gear for snipers mm is crit/surge/ acc. I myself at level 50 with half Camp. and half Cent gear have been testing against Jugs and Heavy BH tanks to see what the diffrence is on diffrent stacking. What I found is the crits alone were to little for dps on a chance vs. All Power with average crit and high surge gave me top DPS in almost all PVP instances. Being able to hit heavy on a non crit continously and having the ability to crit upwards of 6k max allowed me to for once take on a full pvp tank with better odds than stacking crit/surg/acc. which did allow me to burst down light-mid but tanks or even BH healers were almost impossible. currenlty I am testing once again a mixed set of Tech armor with Enforcer for to give the best of power and crit/surge. The downside I lose out on the 5/5 armor set abilites suited for my spec as a MM however I have upped my dmg another 500/hit which to me makes it worth it in the long run. Add in Biochecm Rat. Stims and med kits and you become unstopple when you need that ect crit you pop the 450-20 sec crit and you can cut a tank down form entrench in under 30 seconds if played right. 18k hp and sheilds will not stop you if you get off enough rounds before he pops sheilds. these are just my findings and I will let you know more once I test out mixed gear. My goal is to have over 10k high ranged with 100%+ Accuracy min 45% crit and pusching 90% surge ftw. I also may test out Eng again once I get this build done as that is what I originally played but wanted more dps so I respeced. cheers, Cynn
