  1. Also check out Nova Imperium! We raid on the late side of things for an east coast server, but if that fits your schedule you should check us out. See the recent recruitment post on this forum.
  2. Are you a night owl raider? Perhaps a west-coaster? Having trouble finding progression raid teams that start raids at 9:30pm ET? <Nova Imperium> is the place for you! Nova Imperium is what we like to call "Casual-Core", as in we take a casual attitude towards hardcore gameplay. We love to play this game and we are pretty good at it, but we also like to have fun and balance real life concerns. While we cater to all mature players (18+ only), our core is people with kids and jobs that don't want to deal with epeen bull$#!^ in a fricken video game (That's why we're on an RP server!). We are founded on the simple principles of respect, fair game-play, fun, community, low drama, helping as much as you are helped, and friendly interactions. We handle disputes maturely, and officers work very hard to eliminate drama. (Note: There is no yelling in our raids, ever) HM Raiding: We run HM progression on Thu/Sun from 9:30pm to 12:30am EST. We've got a few spots on our main team for people with HM experience and can probably fit in any role by shuffling others around. We've typically been on the forefront of progression for this server, but we need some new blood to get back on track after a few members left the game. This is a performance based group, so the skilled recruits can work up the ranks quickly if they aren't jerks. We are recruiting all classes at this time and are looking for people with the right attitude to help us conquer the galaxy. We use voice communications (TeamSpeak 3) for our raids. Mic is not required, but we prefer to have everyone in TS3 to explain fights or call out things. Our HM raids also use parsers. We mainly use parsec at the moment. Raid signups are done via the calendar on the forums. SM Raiding: We also run SM/classic raids on a regular basis, often starting around 10:30pm EST but also sometimes earlier. We've been filling in some of these raids with pugs lately and we are looking to replenish our SM ranks to minimize the pugging. These are a great way to earn your way onto the HM progression team and hopefully build up to a second progression team. PVP: We have a few pvpers in guild, but we're not particularly active in pvp at the moment. Hopefully that will change. How to join: Go to http://novaimperium.guildlaunch.com and fill out an application. Or you can search for "Nova Imperium" in the "WHO" menu and ask for an officer. If you are still unsure if we are right for you, please feel free to talk with one of the Officers or just join us temporarily for some fun and games. Officer contacts in game are (Tatiana/Murryofthenorth, Elethan, Ghoulish, , Cupcakekitty/Mozzer (any mozz..) All in all, if you want to do some serious gaming in a relaxed environment with some crazy & fun people, this is the place for you. I don't think you'll find any other place quite like it and that is a good thing... Cheers, Nova Imperium Leadership

  4. Officer Cupcakekitty would like to invite you aboard the SS Kittywagon! Join the party with Nova Imperium as continue our conquest of the galaxy with the goal of pimpin out the most bad-arse guild ship in the galaxy. Whatever you like to do, we probably do it and we do it well and we have fun doing it (Except for RP, which you could probably tell because one of our officers is called Cupcakekitty. Why are we on an RP server again?). Nova Imperium is what we like to call "Casual-Core", as in we take a casual attitude towards hardcore gameplay. We love to play this game and we are pretty good at it, but we also like to have fun and balance real life concerns. While we cater to all mature players (18+ only), our core is people with kids and jobs that don't want to deal with epeen bull$#!^ in a fricken video game (Right! That's why we're on an RP server!). We are founded on the simple principles of respect, fair game-play, fun, community, low drama, helping as much as you are helped, and friendly interactions. We handle disputes maturely, and officers work very hard to eliminate drama. Raiding: We love to raid and are pretty good at it, but we with real life concerns we know we can't keep up pace with the top raiding guilds that suck the fun out of raiding (I kid! props to our friends at Aisthesis, Proper Villains and other top raiding guilds!). We've currently got one NiM raid team (Thu 9:30pm ET) that has cleared NiM DF through Grob'Thok and is working on C-Zero, and this team could use some more alternates. Our second team is a HM team (currently Wed 9:30pm ET) working up to NiM that has a few open permanent spots temporarily filled by NiM Team alts. On this team you would get to bask in the wake of Cupcakekitty himself as he juggs tanks in all his loincloth glory! We also run SM raids on a regular basis. (Note: There is no yelling in our raids, ever) Conquest: We are really enjoying Conquest and are fostering the community/social elements it brings to the game. Cupcakekitty can barely hold in his naughty urges when thinking about his conquests! Despite being only a small/medium size guild, we've placed in the top 10 every week, usually between 6th and 3rd place. We focus on every aspect, from heroics to commanders to operations to flashpoints to pvp to crafting. We've also been farming Commanders for the aforementioned guild ship expansion effort. We've got 3 extra rooms unlocked and we are in the process of placing our over 200 guild-owned mounts! PVP/GSF: While Nova is primarily a raiding and PVE guild, we also have a group of dedicated and capable PVP players and even a few starfighters. Sadly, Cupcakekitty doesn't pvp because he refuses to bring harm to other players, but you'll find plenty of other skilled pvpers to help you scratch that itch. How to join: Go to http://novaimperium.guildlaunch.com and fill out an application. If you are still unsure if we are right for you, please feel free to talk with one of the Officers or just join us temporarily for some fun and games. Officer contacts in game are (Elethan, Cupcakekitty/Mozzer (any mozz..), Ghoulish, Dolosus, Nevuap/Nevlotzo, Tatiana/Murray) or simply /who Nova Imperium and ask any of our members to track down an officer. Recruitment needs: We are recruiting all classes at this time and are looking for people with the right attitude to help us conquer the galaxy and join in Cupcakekitty's exploits. We are particularly looking for HM-experienced raiders to fill out our 2nd HM/NiM raiding team and our open HM/SM raids, especially tanks and DPS. We use voice communications (TeamSpeak 3) for our raids. Mic is not required, we prefer to have everyone in TS3 to explain fights or call out things. Our higher end raids also use parsers. We mainly use parsec. Raid signups are done via the calendar on the forums. All in all, if you want to do some serious gaming in a relaxed environment with some crazy/fun cats, this is the place for you. I don't think you'll find any other place quite like it and that is a good thing... Cheers, Nova Imperium Leadership on behalf of Cupcakekitty (kitty would have invited you himself, but he can't write cuz, you know, he's a cat. meow)

  7. Got it. So facing straight at the bulwark perhaps ~3m away such that the adds on either side are still within 4m (I could probably do trig for the exact distance but I'm too lazy) and also within the arc of the cone. When I've tried that one side add usually ends up outside the arc but I probably just haven't found the sweet spot yet. I also found a video of Stryvah on NiM Draxus. He seemed to stand "on top" of a side add facing the other two with the far add within 4m. It appeared that he had to be slightly in front of the add he was "on top" of to be within 4m of the far add, but the flamethrower seemed to go slightly behind him to hit the add he was "on top" of. Perhaps that is because he is still standing in the hit box of the add he was "on top" of so it the aoe damage "in the hitbox" still hit him even though the flames were pointing away from that add. That said, I noticed it only worked once and the second time in the video he only hit two adds so it still probably requires some precise positioning. I haven't tried this approach yet, but I'll test out both on a SM Draxus and figure out which is better for me. Thanks again!
  8. I have a question on positioning for using flamethrower on the 3 adds under a bulwark shield in Draxus (i.e. waves 5, 6 and 8). I know it can be done (I checked the parses from the leaderboard), but I can't find the right spot to be within 4m of all three adds under the shield and hit them with flamethrower. DFA is no problem to hit all three, but one add always gets absorbed (>4m) or is outside the cone. Where should you stand to hit all three?
  9. This was very helpful. Thanks! I was finally able to put it together and keep the heat in check for a full 1 mil dummy parse and was able to hit 3335 DPS, and that was still with a few errors here and there and only 39 APM.
  10. I'm loving the clean 4 block rotation that includes MV, but I have a few questions on implementation. 1) Per my calculations and experimentation, this doesn't seem to be heat neutral rotation. Even with the heat reduction cooldowns, I'm running into heat issues after about 500K damage from this rotation. Am I doing it wrong and this should be sustainable with good execution and proper use of cooldowns? If I am not screwing it up somehow, how do you/would you guys adjust the rotation? There aren't any extra IPs to replace with HS, so the only options I see that would help would be to replace MV or the occasional HiB (or unprocced SS?) with HS. I'm leaning towards skipping every other MV. 2) Since this spec is mostly used in PVE raids for AOE fights with adds, do you change the rotation for more AOE when adds are up? Perhaps by replacing HiB with Explosive Dart (sorry for PT term) when one or more additional targets are in range? Even with the HiB auto crit and armor pen, ED should still do more damage than HiB and adding it is heat neutral I think. if I assume flame sweep is too heat intensive and rotation disruptive to use even with many adds up, right? Thanks!
  11. Thanks Sef! I love the suggested changes and will adopt them myself. This also supports my decision to take torque boosters over hamstring. Even though I was planning to have a shield heavy gear set (per your guide, prioritizing END > SHD > ABS > DEF), you are still right that we'll rarely have time to fit in extra RPs in between PFTs. Would you think it preferable to use a DPS gear set (with a shield offhand) to a tank set in solo queue ranked arenas, or did I misinterpret your comment? Also, if you are already cutting out blood tracker, do you think there is any sense to cut retractable blade entirely and put those points into pneumatic boots? Would the occasional/situational utility of a 15% speed boost and a 5% elemental damage boost by switching cylinders offset the loss of RB that you'll rarely use anyway?
  12. So while I've always enjoyed playing powertech DPS/Tank hybrids in PVP, I can't argue with the theme that they are all suboptimal compared to full specs in current warzones. HOWEVER, I am thinking that the revelation yesterday about solo queue ranked arenas might finally resurrect the usefulness of this type of spec. Of course, this might also be crazy for some reason I haven't thought about. The twist in this idea vs. the OP's Mandalorian Fist build is that you actually try to make the hybrid as tanky as possible with great utility, using tank gear instead of DPS gear (for the most part), but making sure to have a 23/23/0 build. You get a very solid, but suboptimal, tank with enhanced utility and better DPS than a full-specced tank. The key to this is that by entering the solo queue ranked arenas, you get offset by a DPS instead of a tank on the other team (with a 23/23/0 build, DPS is the default role for queuing). Ideally, as a very serviceable tank you get to keep your healer alive long enough to allow your two DPS enough time to kill their healer that doesn't have a tank to guard them. Even in other group compositions (no healers or extra tank on each side), I would think that having a tank advantage vs. the other team would generally be a benefit in TDM. So here's the build: http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#301GoMrdMRoMZrsbrobRR.3 Downsides vs. full tank build: No heat screen/blast, no shoulder cannon heal, no enhanced kolto overload, no 4% defense, no flame sweep slow and no jet charge speed boost Benefits vs. full tank build: Short stun cooldown, short interrupt cooldown, PFT, RB and numerous other DPS improvements Spec options: Can choose between longer hydraulic overrides or RB slow (this is the one point I am not sold on). If heat management and/or aoe become less important in arenas and movement/kiting become more important, you could also swap Flame Surge for Jet Speed. Also, we might have the option of swapping into DPS gear if the situation calls for it, and I wouldn't be shocked if the DPS is competitive in TDM arenas even though the burst is poor. Lastly, perhaps even taking pneumatic boots might make sense so you could switch into HEG cylinder mid-match for a speed boost in certain situations (think about the ability to kite with jet speed, torque boosters and pneumatic boots!). So I am fascinated by the potential of this build. I'm very interested to hear if people see a major flaw that I haven't thought of, or if I might really have something here (that can probably be improved with suggestions). It's a bit of a non-sequitor since it applies to all powertechs, but I am also excited about the increased usefulness of stealth scan since all I hear about is how arenas are going to be filled with all-stealth groups. Overall, I hoping for the resurgence of Powertechs for PVP in 2.4, vindicating all of us die-hards that stuck through the hard times.
  13. I'm a Powertech with gear (full 69 or better) and experience to Tank or DPS TFB HM and S&V HM. My op group broke up and I'm looking for a new progression group to join. Unfortunately I am unable to get on reliably for raids prior to 10pm EST because of family and work obligations, so I need a group that starts at 10pm EST or later. I know the fights for and have completed TFB HM and S&V SM, and I am looking to tackle S&V HM. I'm easy going and I don't believe in drama. Send me a message if you've got room and I'd love to apply!
