The hybrid design of some classes especially the sorc/sage seem to give them a huge edge which is apparent in PvP, maybe less in PvE. I guess it really depends on what Bioware's focus will be. PvP or PvE.
The 5K medal needs to be 5k in 2 seconds, then gunslingers would get it. Our single target damage is terrible(considering that seems to be our class design), even when in the single target tree. Mitigation works really well against our attacks. Although once I realized the effectiveness in our AoE attack(Freighter Flyby), I frequently am near the top on damage. It almost does as much damage as our best single target attack. I attribute much of that to the fact that other players don't understand its AoE range/damage duration.
