  1. Hi guys! I've been using this rotation so far with my merc for a couple of months. I'm having some troubles managing heat and even if i try to copy your exat rotations from parsely i find that its imposible for me. Any tips? My problem comes mainly after electronet goes out of CD when after switching Thermal for electro i find 1-2 rotations with any heat support and that kills me. Also in execute phase i can't use MB in the PS filler slot everytime due to overheat. Btw i'm full 192s BiS and i can't break the 4700 barrier. I dunno if i have my stats wrong or something, I would apreciate some advices. My stats are: Aim: 4487 Crit: 616 ->35.66% Power: 1278 -> 1932.6 tech bonus Acc: 813 ->100.54% Surge: 351 Alacrity: 0
  2. Not really. Perhaps the definition of one shot may not fit well with the actual situation but its true that your HP goes down to 30-40% even before you can cast anything. In addition most of the most powerful defensive cooldowns are close to 50 so lvl 30s just don't belong there. I've tried to level an alt through WZs and from 10-30 it was ok (not perfect but ok) but now at lvl 30 its just insane. Oh and in case you wonder, yes i have implants and relics. Perhaps if at least they would let the +50s out from the bracket we could do something. 30-49 seems much more balanced to me.
  3. What makes powertech's one of the best dps classes is their range. It's true that many times seems unfair but renember that along with high dps powertechs are squishy. Yeah sure, they wear high armor but still lack of deffensive cooldowns so if you know how to play against them they're are screwed. PvP is not always a dps race. If you pug you'll be succesfull 90% of the time just dpsing but when you face other good players skill comes into play and range is the only tool that can make the difference for powertechs. 30m on TD may be too much but i think that the actual range of FB its okay as a way to counter the high survavility of other classes compared to ours. Just for the record: I totally agree; Pt as full tank suck really hard in PvP.
  4. Okay, now check the animation videos and tell me what kind of fights do appear. One of them is a battle in a wood and the other one is the jedi temple assault. Both show the battle between republic and empire, nothing more. Ofc this game is PvE focuses. No doubt about that. I was talking about what it could have been. The reason why i'm so upset is that there has not been any atempt of having any kind of decent PvP system. Remember ilum? just a desert field. No obstacles, silly objectives. No defendeable castles/ships/command posts, no strategic situated buildings or at least decoration. Nothing to offer rather than a silly quest for farming PvP gear. As i said in my other post there were comments about Bioware taking ideas from warhammer online. Sure that game failed just the same way this one has done but stil many people were wondering if this could have at least the same kind of RvR system but with Star Wars skin. That would have been AMAZING!!! So yeah, sure, i'm dissapointed, but not for this game being PvE (witch i don't mind) but giving 0 chances to PvPers.
  5. For those who think that SWTOR is a PvE game i must tell them this: This game promos didn't show epic mob fights. They showed the eternal battle between republic and empire. Many many people heard that EA was looking for advice in Warhammer online devs wich for those who don't know about that game is a mainly PvP game. So just like me hundreds of people came to SWTOR looking for an awsome Star wars lore PvP game. Many of us were fan boys who just wanted to pvp as a jedi or a trooper for crushing the empire or the other way round. This game had such an incredible potential that is laughable how much devs have screwed their own game. I still wonder why the game designers can't see that the future of mmos is not in pve. Don't get me wrong, PvE its ok but as you see in every game, pve end game has lockouts. So my question is: What do devs expect to those PvErs do meanwhile? The answer is always the same: PvP. Lets face it, even those "only PvE" guild do PvP when they try achieve the "world first boss kill". That is just another example of PvP. So please, to all those who think that PvPers are like a cancer first think about yourselves cause life is nothing more than a PvP. We humans are born to compete against each others. That's a fact.
  6. I must not agree. Its true that socerers have some issues that should be fixed just like every other class but still they have potential. If you watch your skill trees carefully they have 3 off-resolve CCs. The only problem is that are difficult to spec for all of them. Instead of QQing about socerers being bad you should ask for a skill tree revamp to allow socerers to get those kitting tools. Just imagine it. Full madnesss tree with both aoe root on knockback and bubble blind talents specced. Maybe a damage increase in a couple of dots and socs are done.
  7. The problem is that, wait for it, THIS IS A MMO! SURPRISE!!! Gear progresion is a part of every mmo so get used to it. If you wanna PvP from day one go and find yourself another game. BTW this game has a much more important imbalance: OP classes are a much more important issue than gear progresion theese days in SWTOR. As it has been said before in this post, level yourself the appropiate class and with skill you'll be owning full WHs being fresh 50.
  8. Well i run both mercenary and powertech and i must admit merc is pretty screwed now. Let's face it: merc CAN dps. In fact as it has been said they still have a really good burst in PvP. The real problem is that actually there are other careers that can output the same (and more) damage and still have something else wich make them special. warriors have pounces and awsome defensive skills, inquisitors i agree are masters of all trades (speed, knockback, stun, stagger...) and operatives have been nerfed in terms of damaga but their healing now is awsome. Basically mercenaries have nothing special compared to the rest of the classes.
  9. Yes and no. MMO may be more difficult to balance but lets say that its a different type of game. Grind its a must both in PvE and PvP no matter what. Even Guild Wars had some grind untill you got all the elites you needed (those who played it will understand what i'm talking about) The difference between PvE and PvP is that PvE has a defined endgame and PvP hasn't; the goal of PvPing is not getting the best possible gear but to play the best you can while beating other players. In PvP getting the best gear is just the beggining. PvE can always be added to the game but a good PvP structure has to be designed from the beggining. SWTOR's PvP is not good enough and that's why people will flee to GW2 or some other game. The recent events like the ilum death or not introducing ranked WZs this patch showed us that bioware definitely has given up with PvP. Its a shame 'cause when i first heared about bioware taking so much things from warhammer i thought this could be a really awsome PvP game.
  10. Its an interesting thing the one you're talking about guys. In my opinion all those repetition problems is why i realiced i'm more a PvP player than a PvE one. No matter what PvE will end being boring and repetitive. You may try new challenges like raiding naked or other kind of things but its still the same. In the other hand we have PvP wich can be different everytime you play. WZs are definitely not the best example of it but Open world pvp is. I played Warhammer online before this i must admit that my favourite momments where when my friends and i came out to open pvp alone and challenged ourselves against larger or better geared players. There is no need of 300 hours of farming to get a 5 min "WOW i do rock!" feeling. PvE will always be grind 90% of the time. PvP may be the answer for all those who are tired of it.
  11. But healers also have CC. They can aoe knockback and vanish or run from LoS, Don't expect to survive even to 1 single dps standing still casting heals. Think about CC as another kind of heal.
  12. Pretty sure that was exactly what he was willing to say
  13. 3 ¿? Seriuosly if a healer can hold himself against 3 atackers solo imagine if 2 or more healers would join a wz. 1-1 holding its reasonably ok cause in this game there are just 2 AC with pure dps specs. The rest can also guard or heal in a moment of need. Many people may think that a dps just has to dps and this is not true. In my case as a powertech (same goes for juggernauts and assasins) i can taunt the enemies to reduce their damage, pull them away from my healer or even stun and burn them to the ground. Healers have enough kitting tools to hold for about +10 seconds by their own before help arrives. OFC if you're a pug healer then you have a trouble cause in pugs very few players will leave whatever they're doing to help you.
  14. So now try to do the same math with crits. Damage goes up to a really painfull level: FB= 1400 IMMO= 900 Railshort= 4k TD= 4k CGC = 800 (renember that this one is applied on each FB) And theese are not our max crits, just average ones. Does the proc need an internal cooldown? YES Is 6 seconds too much for it? DEFINITELY How many secs would i put on it? around 3 or 4.5 Should Railshot vent more heat per use? OFC (something like 50% or 100% more then the actual value)
  15. In resume i would say that powertechs are pretty well balanced class in PvP. they either have good burst potential or good defence and hybrid builds just lack of some of both. They don't hit like a truck (f.e. +5k hits) but if they're proc lucky (just like assasins, socerers...) can output a really nice amount of damage. In return for their dps burst potential, they have serious lack of survavility while full dps specced. Hovewer in tank spec they are some of the toughest targets around. All this make varguard/powertechs an awsome class and one of the best 1vs1 classes. Hovewer this is not a 1vs1 game so it doen't really matter.
