  1. I agree with this completely. I recently came back to the game and everyone in my guild had stopped playing and the server (PoT5) was all but dead as well. I transferred all my toons to The Harbinger and in one week of crafting and one week of selling (leveling gear) in a vibrant economy I made 65 million credits. If I had just a handful of my former guildies doing the same and also running heroics & dailies like we used to, we'd have a guild ship, stronghold and decos pimped out no problem at all.

So, get your active guildies to move with you and reap the benefits !!

I think the sentiment is correct. Your guild stuff can be obtained again, but transfer costs are reduced for a limited time. If server population is important to you and your guild, then I would agree with Tux and suggest you move. If population is not important or your server is fine at this time, then stick around.

I would highly suggest that ANYONE capable of transferring do so with a placeholder character on any server you could see yourself playing on in the future. You can create a character, level it to 10 in an hour and transfer it just for your legacy. Then you can always start up new characters on that server with your perks in the event you don't want to spend 1000 cc per toon down the road.

  2. I'll second what Tux said. I moved from PoT5 a few weeks ago and it's night and day. I can barely do anything on my toons between warzone pops and have to make sure my toon is completely ready to raid before hitting GF for FPs due to how fast I get grouped.

What a terrible problem to have, right? LOL

    That's your problem right there.

Take advantage of the 90cc transfers next week and get off that dead server. Until that time, use any players referral link and take advantage of the free character transfer you get with it.

I came from POT5 as well...we moved last year. Please do the same. The game is full of life on a couple other servers - Harbinger being the best of them (in terms of pop).

  3. I remember being able to use adrenals and endless medpacks every 90 seconds in warzones.

I too remember when CS would live chat with you in-game.

I remember when you weren't allowed to use your speeder on fleet or in the space ports.

  4. I remember the excitement and joy of finally being able to queue for PvP at level 10 (before I got the sprint ability at level 14), and getting into an Alderaan match. Then the jaw dropping awe and disappointment of getting one-shot by a level 50 battlemaster.

  5. First of all, FYI the bountiful missions will generate purple materials on a crit. So running bountiful missions is not a waste if you are looking for purple slicing materials.

Secondly, I am NOT saying the system is working as intended. If you are right that there is only one rich sliced parts mission in those tiers then that should be addressed, but I would not get my hopes up.

Actually that is the cure. Ask any dedicated crafter and you will find that they have a slew of slicing characters. Because the demand for slicing materials is so high, having a lot of slicers is a necessity.

Personally, out of 13 total characters, 9 have slicing (I personally ascribe to the philosophy that every new character should have slicing; once they hit 56+ I might change it out for something else, but while going through the 1-50 story they have slicing.

Furthermore, through long testing, I have learned that for each crafting skill that uses a particular material type, you need 1.5 characters that can run missions to get those materials to properly feed that crafting skill...even if you are only crafting for personal use.

    In other words:

    • 1 crafter to 1 materials = not enough materials (you end up either waiting on your materials character to get those materials or you buy them off the GTN)
    • 1 crafter to 2 materials = a little too much materials (you end up with a surplus of materials that you can either store for a rainy day [i.e. an unlucky streak], or sell for credits)
    • 2 crafters to 3 materials = just enough materials (your materials acquisitions, are just enough to supply your crafting; there will be times when you have too little or too much but on average you'll be just right)

I've seen you post that 3:2 thought before. I find it to be extremely spot on.

  6. I'm trying to find a new server to transfer to. How are queue pops for PvE group finder and PvP during pacific time zone nights on The Harbinger server?
  7. The paralyzing fear when you caught a glimpse of an Operative in stealth

Omg, this. They were SO overpowered.

    I miss:

The 9 minute walk from the Coruscant spaceport to the senate tower, because we weren't allowed to sprint until level 14

30m incendiary round, with an 18 second burn....that prevented caps in PvP :)

The prison rape of level 10s in a warzone against Battlemasters...when the title meant that you really were a bada**

The euphoric sense of accomplishment when you defeated Dr Loric in HM lost island

"Teams of stun-locking operatives causing players to unsub" ...kudos to whoever remembers that gem of an explanation.

  8. Hey everyone, the collections section was updated today to finish off the Architect's Pack.

Here is a preview of that pack: http://dulfy.net/2014/10/22/swtor-architects-stronghold-pack-preview/

There are also a bunch other new items added including Ghostly Magus Armor Set, animated Czerka CZX-4 weapons, Walkhar Trickster, Rakling pets, and Toy Masks.

    http://dulfy.net/2014/10/22/swtor-oct-22-collections-updatenew-halloween-items/

Looks like this Halloween is quite eventful on the cartel market. Hopefully the Rakghoul event is coming back as well!

I don't know why, but when I look at the Descendants Heirloom Saber, all I can think is :

Inigo Montoya: My father was slaughtered by a six-fingered man. He was a great swordmaker, my father. When the six-fingered man appeared and requested a special sword, my father took the job. He slaved a year before it was done.

[shows the Man in Black the sword]

Man in Black: I've never seen its equal.

Inigo Montoya: The six-fingered man returned and demanded it, but at one tenth his promised price. My father refused. Without a word, the six-fingered man slashed him through the heart. I loved my father. So naturally, I challenged his murderer to a duel. I failed. The six-fingered man left me alive, but he gave me these.

[strokes the scars on his cheeks]

Man in Black: How old were you?

Inigo Montoya: I was eleven years old. And when I was strong enough, I dedicated my life to the study of fencing. So the next time we meet, I will not fail. I will go up to the six-fingered man and say, "Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die."

  9. Lol. Of course I found the two slicers interested in obtaining mats and painstakingly listing them for sale. Most people that took slicing early on were not interested in crafting or the mats associated with it...just credits obtained.

I too am interested in the mats...so that I can craft. My point though was that the missions obtained were pure credits for a non - crafter. You're right also, that the mats are too, but not like the missions. Perhaps it's different on some servers?

To the OP, there's lots of ways to make money ;)

  10. So what's so great about getting missions?

Crafter and/or material gatherers like to run the purple missions from slicing because they guarantee 4-6(?) purple mats per mission.

As a slicer, you're not interested in gathering mats, just money. So, when you run your crew skill mission (slicing mission) and it crits, you get credits and an Unlock-able purple crew skill mission for underworld trading, archaeology, treasure hunting, etc. The thing to do for a slider is: Sell these missions on the GTN.

How much you list these missions for on the GTN is up to you. They are just like crafting mats, price them accordingly. What that means is: if the mission will return 4 ice jewels and an ice jewel sells for 10,000 credits then sell the the mission for 40,000 credits. The price you actually list the mission for can vary depending on your personal thoughts and the market you're selling in. The mission will also return blue crafting mats, which will have a typically or usual selling price on the GTN like the purple mats (ice jewels in my example), and the missions can return companion gifts, crafting schematics, etc. The point is, there's more opportunity (materials wise) to the person that buys your mission than just receiving the purple crafting mats back.

Do keep in mind that there will be a cost to whomever buys your mission to actually RUN that mission with one of their companions. They'll factor that onto the top of the price you list your mission at and then divide that total by the number and type of mats they expect to get out of running the mission.

So, if your price winds up being cheaper, in their eyes, compared to the listed crating materials already on the GTN...they'll buy your mission. You could always look at what other missions of the same type are seeking for, and list yours the same. Or...you could severely undercut the same mission you're selling compared to others listed on the GTN <<<<<<this is my preference for you as I'm an avid crafter :)

Point is, the missions you receive from your slicing mission is nothing more than a great big giant box of crafting materials for whoever you sell the mission to and runs it with one of their companions. What you sell that for is up to you, the market you're in(server), and the speed at which you want to wait to collect money on the sale (undercut or not).

    Hope that helps.

  11. I honestly don't craft much on my synthweaving toon, but yes, mk-9s would be a worthy endeavor...or whatever the next tier of augment kits will be. Making the augments would also be a good idea. I'm not sure about other wares though.

Biochem is, to me at least, more of a money saver than a money maker. You can make all of your own consumables rather than shelling out money for them. Biochem can make implants though, and if you put in the time to re them to the better stat purple versions in many different levels, that could pay off huge over the long haul.

Ultimately what you want to do is have each type of crafter in your legacy and multiple types of gatherers. It's useful to not have to depend on others for your needs...mainly because you won't have to send them money for what you need...and that's the first rule of making money...don't spend it.

  12. I have 2 inquisitors. One is "profiteering" and has treasure hunting, Bioanalysis, and slicing.

The other is artifice. She has artifice, archaeology, and underworld trading. I took the underworld trading to make use of the companion +2 crit to it.

Because I took UT with my 2nd inquisitor, I rolled a marauder just to get the first companion...which has a +5 crit to treasure hunting. So for my artificer, I have 2 ship droids with +2 crit on treasure hunting and a companion with +5. Makes it easier to get my own purple mTs, which are ludicrously priced on the GTN nowadYs.

For reference, TheRealBowser has companion bonuses listed in his guide.

  13. I believe that this game used to be very balanced, but due to the pvp. Other games in the pass, like world of warcratf, have suffered the same problems. It is true that hackers are a big issue: sages using evasion and going invisible: transparent powertechs; juggernauts shooting death rays; entire teams teleporting to the other side of the map; and lets not forget, players immuned to damage.

But a main issue is also the sages and sorcerers. World of warcraft made a big mistake by buffing up the warlocks to a point where 1 warlock could easily solo an entire pvp zone. swtor is doing the same mistake with the sages. an attack should normaly burn down maybe what ... 10% or 20% of the opponants health. an the stun effect from it would hold them for 0.5 to 2 seconds.

at the moment, the sage stun you for a full 5 seconds or more, while 100% or more of your health bar is burned. and they can cast it on multuple players. this is the warlock revisited. you might as well give them god mode.

right now, lots of players are obsessed by beating them. and go suicide again and again in pvp zones swarmed by sages. while they are cursing and swearing. but after a while, they will be so upset, they will quit the game. and i dont believe swtor can loose that many subscribers. cause this thing is driving the game into the ground.

Oh, and in the futur, i would suggest you double check the ideas of the developper that creates god modes before adding the updates

This is just not true. We know for a fact, because the devs said so, that people are Unsubscribing due to teams of stun-locking operatives

    NERF OPERATIVES!!!!!

  14. My only complaint about SWTOR pvp:

1 - even with a $4000,00 computer you'll run the game with 15 fps, making pvp very very bad.

2 - Too easy to re-stun the target, some kind of immunity would fix the stun wars.

I'll take "ISP upgrades" for 100 Alex...
