  1. first off i love you for asking "was i doing something wrong" secondly, its not so easy to do when the person defending is aware that its possible^^ thirdly, you ALWAYS need to be on your toes with shadows / scoundrels, they have several ways to double stun you. the most effective way for a solo shadow is to mezz (the stealth cc), cap until they break the cc then stop capping & use force resilience (the immune to force damage / remove dots) and follow it up with a force lift. (also be thankful force lift is no longer able to be cast instantly ) AKA: a defender needs to be a the maximum distance possible (your longest reaching attack should be able to hit the pylon in case they try to double team sap & cap) that also applies to fighting next to the pylon after you stop the ninja. (for example:a scoundrels flash grenade will still be able to sap & cap if you interrupt him & fight him next to the pylon) and if you see an assassin with a cast bar interrupt it at all cost EDIT: after reading the "let stealth defend" comments i feel the need to point out stealth defenders are safe defenders... that does not mean you should just expect them to defend. (in normal warzones)
  2. so many ways to go about answering the topic basically it comes down to what play style you like the most. i personally find shadow & guardian the most entertaining.. (and for the people who just judged me, the smash "era" isnt nearly as entertaining as the hybrid vigilance spec days) from my experience with the classes this is how i would describe their play style. for pvp: sage / sorc - if you enjoy "running for your life" while everyone is gunning for you...very satisfying to deny them the satisfaction of making you their *****, THIS TAKES TIME TO LEARN... but its worth it . the beginning can be brutal, alot of people will mark you for simply being a sage / sorc & ANY HEAL will usually get you marked. (its also worth mentioning, learning how to stay alive when your marked benefits any class you play later) shadow / assassin - most commonly if you enjoy 1v1 AT OBJECTIVES (will stall the enemy in ALOT of scenarios instead of trying to kill them), basically limited (but extreme) burst damage & mobility. (this class also has outstanding potential for objective / team play if used properly.) guardian / juggernaut - if you enjoy (at the moment) burst damaging groups while fighting beside the majority of your group. (also has amazing potential to protect your team ) sentinel / marauder - if you enjoy (at the moment) burst damaging enemy groups while fighting beside the majority of your group. (also has amazing potential for enhancing your teams effectiveness) gunslinger / sniper - if you enjoy strategically positioning yourself & decimating the poor souls who have tunnel vision scoundrel / operative - all i can say about them (mine is to low level for me to judge accurately) lots of surviveability, also has the option to "safely" defend / ninja. this class is also responsible for making most sages jump (even when not pvping) whenever they hear the unstealth sound i have not tried commando / vanguard yet so i cant comment on how they feel being played without alot of guessing. but for the record, the best way to learn how to kill a class is to play the class. so making 1 of every class is a fantastic long term goal.
  3. hot damn, this is honestly the first topic i have ever felt the need to say: /signed.
  4. I'd bet money a guardian will be the deadlier in vigilance spec for arenas. Compared to focus spec
  5. Generally speaking scoundrel/ operative healers have an easier time surviving so the would be considered the best.
  6. should start off by saying you should always call inc when **** hits the fan. but if the person defending is in a premade and on vent then calling inc in ops chat is bad. for example: call the inc in vent (voip) the premade sends the correct amount of people. 1 inc = send 1 person, 2 inc = send 2 people. (always making it 2 v 1 or 3 v 2 ect ect) this avoids people calling 2 inc and half the team responding. the only time the premade (that is in vent) should call the inc in ops chat is when 2 inc turns into 4. BUT even then... if 4 people are fighting 2 people... 6 people HAVE BEEN fighting 4 people... there is no excuse for being "oblivious", **** happens & no one is perfect but if your oblivious to whats goin on at the defenders node... its your fault. even if its 1 person defending & he never calls an inc... YOU wasnt paying attention to his health. should you have to pay attention to his health? no. should you? yes.

    Objectives

you just made my day lol.
  8. i did a poor job of explaining why i quoted you, i was certainly not trying to tell you that you personally leaving the warzone is wrong or that you need to agree with me about teaching others instead of avoiding them. but advising other people to leave warzones can be disastrous. (especially if the people your trying to stay away from happen to hear someone give advice like that & listen to it)
  9. field respec until the match starts, after the timer runs out you cant field respec. perfectly valid & logical no field respecing after you are put in que to PVP... fixed the voidstar problem, took away the "need" for more sets of gear (thats a bad thing), took away the ability to adapt & improve the team. is it the end of the world? nope, its just the less effective decision. not to mention there are 2 reasons i sub to the game. 1- i did not enjoy buying a weekly warzone pass 2- subscribers field respec for free. not being able to field respec after you are used to having the option is a major kick in the +#_$. those were quite literally the only 2 reasons i subbed and apparently they are taking out the weekly warzone passes & field respecing will go from effective to useless in PVP. so i would actually be rather happy if they simply took out field respec lol

    Objectives

if you truly deserve the MVP you will usually get a few. objectives & objective points are 2 different things. defender points defender who calls incs while sitting in stealth outside of the zone (which most shadows will do after they realize a stealth will search for you and knock you out of stealth if your "close" to the objective. killing the ball carrier controlling mid / getting ahead of the guardian with the ball so he can leap to you. high objective points are good and all but are just as inaccurate as top dps /heals /protection
  11. STOP GIVING ADVICE until you learn a few things. im aware that comes off rather rude and i apologize, but that kind of advice will make people worse players & the thought of someone actually listening to that kind of advice is disturbing. the rest of this is not directed at the person i quoted fun facts: 1. the other players in the warzone are not stupid, some are ignorant & some actually know things you dont. ignorance can be fixed, stupidity cant. (no that's not just a grammar correction... once you understand they are simply ignorant, informing them becomes an option) 2. teach by example. no, 1 person can not carry an entire team. BUT they can sure as hell try. why should you try? because someone on your team will usually notice what your doing (if your truly trying to make a difference) & there is a chance they will learn something... or... get this... someone will notice what you did wrong and then have the ability to teach you something. (sadly i feel the need to point out that teaching / informing is completely different from insulting & raging) 3. if you lose most of your games then YOU are one of the problems (this is hard to accept but its the first step in becoming a better player) 4. IMPORTANT ONE. some classes have an advantage over you, you have advantages over some others. do everything in your power to steer the situation toward your advantages. (that sounds obvious but is sadly not) OP does not mean "cant stop", OP means you need more "skill" to stop. and what is "skill"? its a learning process that will never end. (basically a bucket that can be filled but cant become full) you do not gain "skill" from playing the game, you gain "skill" by analyzing moments within the game (that are usually losses & deaths). everything has a counter, its just a matter of finding it.
  12. WIN.... while understanding it will not be anywhere near perfect. iv PVP'd since launch, not a big fan of PVE. so that means when im playing the game chances are im PVP'ing... im an objective player & iv learned that "out playing" your enemy is almost always more beneficial than killing your enemy. (which is something everyone eventually learns) i say this to point out that playing objective based PVP without any real alternatives for such a long time is extremely repetitive.... which is pretty obviously a very, VERY bad thing for a game. we have not had any real reason to world PVP since the ilum days at the launch of the game, and even then it would always turn into 40+ imps vs 20 pubs in a massive zerg battle. (which turned ilum into a resource hog that would literally go down to single digit FPS for everyone in the battle). that said i still refer to those ilum battles as some of the most entertaining moments iv seen in PVP. also since arenas are 4v4 its prolly worth mentioning, before they replaced ilum with, well nothing lol. ilum would be laid back with a few imps vs a few pubs during the late night/early morning which lead to alot of friendly 2v2 & 4v4 duels while both imps and pubs hung out in "mid" doing their quests between PVP ques & that was an absolute blast. (obviously thats just an opinion but it gives me a little hope ) what im trying to say is that every new warzone has been objective based, different objectives but the concept remained the same. the new arenas are designed for actually killing enemies and protecting your team while mastering the arena layout. that is a new concept for SWTOR PVP & new concepts are something the PVP in this game desperately needs.
  13. not sure if i should say good call, cant believe i didnt think of that. or get defensive over your poor choice of words. your quoting a /facepalm moment & saying "people like you" a simple "you know /stuck gets you out of combat" would of sufficed pretty sure the proper response is a "**** you"
  14. i have taken my lightsaber off & forgot to put it back on until i have entered a warzone then spent the first 30 seconds running around wondering why the **** virtually all my skills didnt work. and to make it worse, the only way to put the lightsaber on is to exit combat. (which is rather hard to do while your getting healed & not being able to attack lol) sadly iv done it more than once.
  15. #5. people who run up to the node im defending then stand next to me just long enough for me to think they are giving up, then watching me leave the node only to wait 5 seconds and then try to follow me. drives me absolutely nuts and happens WAY to much. all tho instead of raging at the random clueless person, i would advise using emotes like /facepalm, /bonk and /slap. it gets the point across, is easier on the blood pressure & you dont come off looking like an ***.

    Arena proposition

the correct solution to the problem will hardly ever be simply getting rid of it. when (most) people hear arena they jump back to their WOW horror stories and instantly assume it would be a horrible thing to add to SWTOR. however, instead of saying dont add arenas you should be saying how could we add arenas into swtor. some examples. 1. arenas only give credits as a reward. 2. if class imbalance is an issue only allow 1 of each char to be que'd in a group. 3. dont give people arena rankings. 4. dont let arenas affect how you balance a class in the future buffs/nerfs. i could go on for ages but again an arena with restrictions or arenas with a little class imbalance is better than simply not having an arena. im someone who only pvps, objective pvp can get repetitive. queing for an arena would help change things up, ESPECIALLY since world pvp has no benefit. (which means hardly anyone will do it) so basically warzones = repetitive. repetitive = NOT GOOD. arena = change of pace. at the very least you should be trying to figure out how to add it instead of saying arenas are bad for the game.
  17. i think the game is balanced from every class being OP in its own way. however if you start comparing a scoundrel healer to sages & commandos, healing & survive-ability are not balanced between classes.
  18. people afk/defending the warzone pretty much kill your team. people rage quit, maybe better people join. ill take a rage quitter over someone who is forced to stay in the wz any day of the week.
  19. must be awkward when the illiterate guy can comprehend **** you cant.
  20. what your saying here is add solo only ques. so you can solo que and fight only solo que's then add a premade que that solo's have the option to join with. which translates into you do not want to fight against premades when your solo queing but its ok to force a premade to fight with solo que's. the only thing a solo pvp que "fixes" is you avoid getting your *** kick by better teams while other premades still have to worry about fighting 2 premades with a team of pugs. stop with your hate of premades for long enough to see the massive double standards you have decided to set just to avoid fighting groups of people who enjoy pvping with their friends.(don't forget 90% of those premades are groups of friends in a guild pvping, atleast half of those are not using voice chat.) ima go ahead and assume with a signature like that im not gonna change your mind but atleast i can say i tried lol. one of these days, even if its on a different game you will eventually wanna slap yourself for broadcasting a signature like that. ps absolutely no response from a dev team on a topic that has gone on for so long should be a red flag for people who agree with the topic.
  21. yay for logic after a few games against a premade that flat out wrecks you its pretty easy to find the pattern and figure out why its happening. 1. you people who say **** this then go "help defend the other objective" i personally *********** hate you. your literally worse than noob troll rage quitters and you alone basically guarantee your teams loss. (even if the defender leaves, the guy who gave up is almost always a horrible defender who will lose the node and usually calls the inc while he is respawning) 2. there will almost always be people (after 2.0) saying end game pvp sucks without endgame pvp gear. 3. there will almost always be people who say premades ruin pvp. i have literally joined a warzone with less than 2 minutes left and have gotten highest dps of the team several times. (not bragging, im insulting lol) its mind boggling how people run in, die and then give up after once or twice. AND THEN still not understand that the premade has nothing to do with the actual problem. (at the very least everyone one the team, myself included has failed if no one attempts to regroup the team or take charge with a new strategy) in fact since most of the teams this happens to will have people start laying dead and running around like chickens with their heads cut off, the premade could actually teach you a few things if you bothered to watch them. that said im surprised people keep trying to get "solo only" pvp que's instead of taking the concept of ranked pvp and applying it to regular pvp (and actually have it work). give everyone a rank (they wouldn't even have to show the rank) and try to que people with other people of the same rank. the longer you sit in que the broader the range of acceptable opponents ex: a guy with 1000 rank would sit in que for 20 seconds looking for 1100 rank's then switch to 1000-1300 ect until teams were made. pretty sure it would actually solve all pvp que "problems" and would not effect que times hardly at all. if they made cross server ques and applied a formula, the pvp que system would be perfect. (which i personally don't advise you to get your hopes up)
  22. just tossing it out there. you dont have to be in a guild to do this its usually noticing a friend's group finished their warzone so you reque with a countdown. pretty lame when people leave que's until both parties get the same wz tho.
  23. the only thing i find annoying about the roll is they can roll with the ball in huttball. the only reason i find that annoying is because if a sorc uses his 51 shield it resets the ball. either the scoundrel should reset the ball when he roll's or the sorc's shield should not reset the ball. its not that big of a deal but i dont see why a sorc's shield is considered OP enough to reset the ball while the operatives roll is not. im not QQ'ing, i just dont see the logic behind that decision.
  24. most of those 4 man ranked premades are just guild mates queing together. if you make a post like this then i guarantee you wouldn't know the difference between a guild premade & a ranked groups 4 man premade. i could literally sit here and explain how every single part of your post is wrong but you have managed to fit so much failure into 1 post that i honestly kind of hope you quit playing.
  25. some general rules that makes life easier (not sure if these have been said) 1. a gaming mouse (like razer nage) is the best investment you will ever make for gaming on your computer. 2. keep keybinds catagorized. for example: cc break is "Q", saber ward is "E", and saber reflect is shift + "E" 3. when you make new chars keeps your keybinds as similar as you can. for example : my guardian has force leap at numpad1 & force stasis as shift+numpad2. so my sorc has force speed set to numpad1 and forcestun as shift+numpad2 4. once you set a keybind, be wary of changing the keybind... obviously when you need to change it do it but be prepared to unlearn it. which takes time. what im saying is when you get new skills you should put them where they feel comfortable. not where they will just get replaced by another skill. (plan ahead.) 5. the key to learning key binds is to literally take a step back, slow down and think while your in combat (even if it means standing there like an idiot every now and then). if your doing things like 11111,2222, 5555, 44444444, 333333333. then your getting caught up in the heat of the moment and it will take considerably longer to train yourself. (not to mention you will eventually have to break that habit ) 6. dont forget about things like your mouse wheel, you have your mouse wheel, your shift+mousewheel, your shift+mousescroll down, shift + mousescroll up, ect. which are fantastic for things like buffs and recuperate. ps if your looking for a gaming mouse a naga is popular and looks sexy but its not a top of the line gaming mouse. if you want performance/quality then avoid the nage. if you want sexy then razer is the way to go.
