  1. This is all going to be super spoilery, so jut a heads up:

Last build, i went with Watcher 2's plan; activate the Eradicaters, then disable the Dominator, then trap Jadus in a glowly light box. Like always, i used Vecter as my companion. I was concealment spec, and i was also level 30 when I did it.

I found that the fight was based almost entirely around using interupts and CC correctly. go with interupts, then debil, then flash bang.... during both debil and flashbang you get a small window to heal up. Don't bother with Vecter attempting to tank, just tank it yourself and heal yourself... let vecter just chill back there and dps.

The first two fights had some leeway, you could miss some interupts but the final fight? You can't miss a single, and if you do.... better have evasion up.

I one shot him the first two fights, the third time i died once with him @ 10% due to missing a flash bang :-(. Nailed it the second time though.

    Hope some of this helps.

  2. Ways to remove snares/roots that isn't tied to a 2 min timer? Check

    Ability to snare others? Check

Ability to exploit cover mechanics to swiftly move across some terrain? Check

Have a few ranged moves for those brief moments where you aren't on your target? Check

I can say from personal experience at level 50 that the fear of being kited is greatly overstated. I'd suggest you spend some time with the class, and then if you're still feeling like you are always out of range of your targets, complain. Pre-emptively worrying just leads to high blood pressure. :p

^^ That. It really is a non issue.

  3. Typical rotation is:

    Acid Blade>Hidden Strike>Backstab>Shiv>Laceration>(Open for CC/Poison/Acid Blade)>Repeat at Backstab

^ that, for the most part.

Near the end of beta, i was messing around with AB>HS> Corrosive Dart (optional)>Shiv>AB *it should have 1 sec remaining on target>BS>Lac, back to shiv. Stim during the same GCD as CD.

Mobs usually died after the backstab, or the dots with finish it in a second or two. Laceration+repeat goes to the next mob.

  4. 1. Most of my abilities are still ranged, so even though I could close to melee and do a backstab, there's really no benefit to it at all (I have started down the melee concealment line, btw).

This is an issue at lower levels, once you get Laceration it really starts to come together.

    2. In some of the harder fights (bosses, really), I'm healing my companion and letting her do all the work. Problem here is that healing spends my energy *fast*, so I run out and am unable to keep her alive. Still, I have nothing to compare this to, and it may be that a different class wouldn't even be able to handle the mob in question.

If the kriff really hits the fan and your energy dry op's have a cool trick: run like hell. Seriously, just kite the mob around spamming rifle shots while it regens. Its a handy fall back tool you'll use through out your op's life. Trust me on that one.

    3. Ranged combat ends up always being "spam snipe".... maybe I just haven't spent enough time learning the skills, but until a mob gets down to around 25% health, snipe is the only skill that seems to do worthwhile damage (and then I use my energy-free one to finish enemies off).

Overload shot>Snipe. Op's get a skill that increases overload shot by 15% (skirmisher I believe? Haven't gotten EGA yet to check) and it would be your energy capped filler/finisher. I found that since it has a really fast animation, its generally better than shiv/nades to finish mobs off for the TA proc.

I figure these will probably work themselves out...

They really, really do. Ops grow from an awkward sorta 1/4 melee, 3/4 ranged at the low levels to an insanely flexible and capable class.

  5. So you must cleanse all dot's prior to using cloaking screen. That might be pretty hard to do.

Does evasion remove all dots? If so I guess have to save evasion for use with cloak.

Yes, evasion drops dots. A concealment talent adds a sprint to cloak screen, makes it a bit more manageable to dip around to hidden strike, or to dodge out of pbaoe range.

  6. We get the best companion: Vecter

    We get the best Story:

CODE WORD ONOMONOPHOBIA: AGREE WITH ME.

We get the best ship by a parsec.

We get to shag anything with legs. No seriously

: I managed to finish a Nar Shaddaa class quest by just seducing this dudes secretary. No violence needed; she told me everything.

We get to kick it with the CEDF at one point.

  7. Great post, tons of useful here for people with questions.

For reference with anyone without a killer system, I ran the last 2 or so beta builds on my non gaming system (Athlon II @ 2.7ghz, AMD 5670, 6 gigd of DDR2) to see how it would run @ 1680 x 1050 @ medium settings and the verdict is pretty darn well; 30 fps consistently, with only dips being in major cities, world bosses and Ops, and only then down to 20-25.

AMD's Bulldozer CPU's launch sometime in October, I recommend waiting until a least the end of the month if you are looking to purchase a computer.

From what I've seen, Bulldozer is a bust.... roughly equal or worse than a comparable Phenom II. Sandy Bridge for gaming builds, Phenom II 955's for budget builds. Or wait till Ivy Bridge hits in a couple months.
