  1. The only way it can possibly hurt is affection with your companion. Depending on your choice, a companion may not like your answer and may lose affection.
  2. This website has several suggestions http://www.swtorui.com/addons.php I'm partial to the mini-map in the center bottom with 3x4 toolbars on either side. it keeps everything in my LOS. It's similar to this one: http://www.swtorui.com/downloads/info29-AgentCentralizedLayout.html
  3. I would start doing the dailies and weeklies that give elite commendations (Oricon, CZ, Group Finder HM, Makeb STAGED WEEKLY) Lost Island if one of the most difficult FPs in HM. It 's long and tedious. CZ gives you some of the best time/reward. The CZ rep vendor also gives you the best main hand weapon available outside of ops. It's worth getting the rep and elite commendations for it. Completing Oricon will give you a full set of artfact gear (each quest yields a Piece). The weekly CZ also yields a random unbounded artifact piece of gear. Black Hole gives you the best credits per time spent. Dulfy.net has a great guide to endgame gearing http://dulfy.net/2013/04/14/swtor-level-55-endgame-gearing-guide/ I would avoid OPs until you have a guild or group you can run with. Pick up Ops can be real bad, especially if you don't have experience with the mechanics.
  4. When 2.0 rolls out in a week or so, all the planetary commendations are being combined into a single commendation. You might want to wait as the DK comms are pretty low level and won't buy much. The new system will be much better since you won't be restricted to the planet's level anymore (great for those who out level) and you won't be left with odd commendations you'll never use. Here is a good breakdown of the changes: http://dulfy.net/2013/02/22/swtor-commendations-system-in-patch-2-0/
  5. The items are color coded to indicate if you get crafting xp or not. If you look at the color of number to the left or right of the description it will indicate the following: gray/white : no gain green : normal gain (1 point) yellow/amber: extra gain (2 points) If it's not green or yellow, you need to get a higher level schematic to craft to get gains.
  6. If you are installing to a 2nd machine, it may be much faster to copy the files from one machine to another. After the setup runs to install core libraries (like ActiveX and the launcher) you can cancel the download. Everything you need is in the directory on your other machine and on the server. Simply copy the directory over your network or use an external disk drive. When you log into the new machine, it will patch it to the current level.
  7. FYI here is the revese engineering guide. I recommend that everyone reads it even if you do not craft as it explains the color coding and the meaning of the prefixes on items. http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=45866
  8. No. Investigation is only used by Armstech and is worthless without an Armstech. (umless you are selling the mats) For Armormech the suggested skills are: Armormech > Scavenging > Underworld Trading Scavenging allows you to obtain green crafting mats and common white mats while Underworld Trading allows you to obtain blue and rare purple crafting mats. Typically if you are not crafting and are trying to go for profit you use: Slicing > Gathering/Mission Skill > Gathering/Mission Skill IMO the most profitable set up will be Slicing > Scavenging > Underworld Trading simply because the latter two skills are so desirable. Underworld Trading supplies rare mats used by Cybertech and Synhweavers so only half of those rares can be used by a single crafter. It also limits the amount of those materials in circulation because half the missions are ignored by one crafter or the other.
  9. I do all the quests because end game tends to be pretty boring. You either do PvP Warzones or flashpoints/ops. After a while it's the same thing day after day grinding for coms to get better stuff. The story fades away.
  10. If you are a Cybertech, you can craft it when you obtain the schematic. The crew skill trainers sell you schematics based on your current crafting skill. To craft this item you need a 20 Cybertech skill. The default filter is to show only what you can craft and afford. To see all the schematics, you can change the filter to all. You can also buy armoring mods on the GTN or with planetary commendations. Most people use the planetary commendations to upgrade their slots. It's a lot cheaper than crafting them and unless you has an established crafter, you tend to outlevel componants faster than you can learn to craft new ones. http://www.torhead.com/schematic/b0ZYy28/reflex-armoring-3
  11. You were misinformed. You need to complete your class quest on your starter planet before you get your advanced class. It's not just about hitting level 10. At level 10 you get access to fleet but that is not the same as getting your advanced class. When you complete your class quest on the starter planet you'll get a quest to go to fleet. I highly suggest you stick to the quest chain and don't go to fleet before then. The game is a themepark and it was designed for the most part to run the quests in a particular order. There are dozens of posts from people who cannot find their advaced class quest, and in most cases, they missed it because they did not follow the quest chain.
  12. Let me know also. I have 500 and all my stuff is better than what is available with dailies.
  13. You have no control over the animations BTW they are there to give you a visual clue when an ability is active.
  14. You probably want to post this in the Customer Service forum and read the Troubleshooting Guide located there http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=419492
  15. I'm not really sure what you are asking. Do you want to know what kind of augments to use or how you add augments to your gear or what kind of gear to get? Here is a build guide for Sith Inquisitor Assassin, maybe it will help http://www.sithspecs.com/sith-inquisitor-assassin/#tank
  16. I think your missing the point. Your companions determine the bonuses you get. The Trooper's companions have skill bonues that favor Armormech because they get the following: +5 crit armormech (Tanno), +5 crit scavenging (M1-4X), +1 crit underworld trading (Tanno) You won't get this on an alt unless you roll another trooper. I don't think you get 3 crit bonuses for anything on any other class. For Armstech a trooper gets: +10 eff armstech (Aric), +5 crit scavenging (M1-4X), +10 eff Investigation (Yuun) IMO crits as far more important than efficiency, especially for your third discipline. It's the main way to get rare purple mats. http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=132015
  17. They save you lots of game credits, especially for some of the nice to have expensive endgame items like quick travel to dailies, in field vendor and respect, having email in your ship, etc. Storage space is always nice if you craft.
  18. Only certain items are modable. "Orange" items and some purple and some green companion only items have componants that can be replaced. If it's a normal green or blue item, it is not designed to have the componants replaced. When you finish your starter planet you recieve an "Orange" weapon and mod and there is a mini quest that is suppose to teach you about item modification which yields an enhancment as a reward. Augments are special componants that may be added to any item that is crafted with an augment slot or has a slot added via an augment kit.
  19. I suggest you read the Companion Crew Skill Bonuses Guide. It gives you a breakdown and recommendations for all the classes. http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=132015
  20. Once you hit 50 you need to get commendations to buy equipment (botth PvP and PvE) or get drops from bosses. Nothing you can craft will equal what you get from running raids or buying via commendations. At 50 it becomes a totally different game and it doesn't include crafting. You get enough free commendations to buy starter gear and that is by far better than anything you can craft. Crafting is mostly for alts and sub 50 chars. BTW all top level crystals are 41 Endurance, Power, Crit, etc. The only diff is the color and that is purley a vanity issue. Right now, you cant get better than a 41. That schematic that uses a lvl 7 rare mat isn't any better than the ones that don't use a lvl 7 rare. It only looks different.
  21. Until there is more info released, you can't transfer. Your only option right now is rolling a new character on a US server.
  22. It's not called a grind for no reason. If you want to use actual combat skills, try PvP Warzones.
  23. Since you missed the pre-order early access date, there is no reason to buy it until you hit 50, unless you want the pets.
