  1. Really you transfer TO the fatman? Also, Frostclaw needs more people, it has 30 people on average in the fleet, but I guess that's enough for Bioware's standards?
  2. To the OP: I can feel with your sentiment there, however, there are two things I'd like to tell you that you may know or need to know: 1. The devs know of their own state of the game, they know of the lack of communication. Still they actively decide to not speak a word and let it all dwindle. There can only be one valid reason for that: they're messing up behind the curtain. Perhaps some problems within their ranks that was probably caused by a lot of failed ideas. If there would be any other acceptable reason, they'd have communicated with us already. I would not expect any fixes of this soon. Perhaps it's a coding issue as well, that they simply dunno how to fix some things. 2. The people that design this game and work on it are... sorry to put it this way but ... very lacking in intelligence. It shows in their failed warzone plan (that changed constantly with warzone comms and valor that ppl farmed and now means squat), failed crafts (biochem that was far overpowered for a long time), failed Ilum and many more fails on Ilum after that when they tried to fix it, failed space sim, failed theme park design (yeh you might like it, but it doesn't appeal to the masses), etc.. This and this ALONE tells me this game will never become anything truly awesome. For those two reasons alone I wouldn't waste my time writing that stuff and trying to get them to listen m8. Put your heart into something that deserves it.
  3. You're a wonderful part of the community. To pay your monthly fees solely to support a company (or so it does seem), if anything Bioware should hire you. Or give you a share of their stocks in any case.
  4. Ho boy. Ok, when a game needs people to make vids about "why there is swtor hate" and people need to make constant posts on forums to try and defend the game for the better... you know the game is horrible. Newsflash buddy, a good game doesn't need 50k vids and fanboys to try and justify its greatness. EDIT: btw, the sole reason that still many people play this is because of the nice leveling up. You get constant hate from a constant flow of new people reaching the level of boredom that you get when you've been 50 too long and don't care about anymore alts.
  5. Very well written article about the performance issues in SWTOR. Remember when a lot of people were in Ilum? Because of what the OP said, they'll never be able to make mass PvP viable. I do not agree with OP on one thing though. The performance is definitely not the MMO's only problem, there are quite a few others were one would have to look at it from a more psychological point of view rather than a technical one. Definitely not getting into that, not worth the effort.
  6. Ok so any "root" ability is unaffected by the white resolve bar (or so it seems). For ranged that isn't that bad, for melee it's basically a CC as they can NOT do anything else anymore. There you run happy go lucky with full resolve bar, having been stunned 15 times over, and some ******* still roots you and you can't move for 5 seconds. On that note, why do classes who have these roots have such great advantage over classes that don't in huttball?
  7. For its time, WoW, Daoc, AC, UO, EQ, EQ2, Swtor doesn't nearly make an impact comparable to what any of those games did.
  8. Quote for truth. One person can like it more or one person can hate it more, but from a purely objective standpoint, this game is mediocre. I'm in a guild of endgame focused people, they're all quitting or taking a break till 1.2 to see what that says. Then again a guild of casuals might like it more (for the time being).
  9. Foolish? Whatever you want to tell yourself, buddy.
  10. Clickers are aaaaalways the ones that mess up in raids with some mechanics. Has been in every MMO, will be in every MMO. You simply can't react fast enough to mechanics and keep up a good dps with mouse clicks. Besides, this conversation is pretty silly. There is no way that you can click an ability for dps, then must click another ability to interrupt a while away on your bar, to follow up with other abilities and move around mechanics all at the same time in the time I do all that with my buttons. Because I do that the 1/4th of a second I need to do it, I don't even need to hover to a button, aim or click any buttons. As a jugger I'll pop 2 cooldowns, use sundering, an interrupt, another skill, pop another cooldown, then turn around 180 degrees to run away to tank the boss at another position, all in the same darn second. You try that with your clicking (and don't tell me "I'll line them all up, you'll still be slower and you can't line up abilities for every given situation ) Besides, what if you need to switch targets (like in pvp) frequently by clicking the right target you need? (tabbing to the right target is an amazing waste of time). have fun with that.
  11. Yep your swtor life begins at 1 and ends after you're 50 for a few weeks. You know there's a reason why a lot of MMOs focus on the endgame.
  12. They better release this patch fast.
  13. Okok I respect that. SWTOR must be giving you at least 5 times as much fun as it costs about 5 times as much for the same kind of experience. I guess you're a true star wars fan. Carry on!
  14. If you feel that justifies paying a monthly fee... Whatever floats your boat I guess. Diablo 3 will do for me in that direction. Or Skyrim. Or Mass Effect 3. Or maybe I'm just crazy.
  15. Irrelevant. Took them what, 5 months to just fix the pylon bug and still have SOA Bugged? I wonder how the new raid will be. Maybe they should just start treating endgame content with a bit more care instead of all this alt crap and legacy crap for alts, jezus where the hell did they put their brain.
  16. You shouldn't be paying monthly subscriptions and just normal fee RPGs, dude.
  17. That's where our opinions differ and I doubt we'll reach a concensus. Unlike you, I do believe there was competition for WoW, I loved Asheron's Call, I thought it was polished and it had a lot of things to offer. Same for Ultima Online, Everquest, etc. Those were polished well-designed games (for their time), WoW simply rose above it by offering innovative things and giving something that no one back then was able to give. A new game in this age could do the same and bounce WoW off just like WoW bounced AC/DaoC/etc off. I do believe guild wars 2 might be doing some bouncing soon, as what I read about it and saw is polished and innovative, they're trying something and it might succeed.
  18. So they broke through because they were innovative? Well wooptidoo, that's what every designer misses the ball on nowadays. They copy WoW to the letter (yes even to the extent of copying exact abilities and their effects) and expect it to steal all WoW's thunder. It was innovative, well designed, polished and simply awesome for its time. Any MMO that does this now will steal all subscribers away from anything else. Situation isn't any different. They simply lack the competence.
  19. Yep it got its foot through the door, destroyed many well-running MMOs and stuck around to make any future MMO fail. What other MMO has done that? What makes WoW's situation any different from any other MMO that was released?
  20. Errmmm you know WoW had LOTS of competition right? Aion, FF, Age of conan, Rift, just to name a few. That is competition. They simply never made WoW worry because they simply weren't as good as WoW, still after all its years of release. I can't tell how many MMOs tried to duplicate WoW's success and failed. Now SWTOR is succeeding only by a small margin (very small imho), just because WoW is running dry, getting too old and people want something new. That is the biggest reason. Even when WoW was released many people played other MMOs (I did Asheron's Call), WoW stole it all away like any brand new GOOD MMO should of older many year-old MMOs. EDIT: btw, following your great insights, the only reason SWTOR is semi-succesful now is because it has no competition whatsoever. If there was a new fancy MMO coming out I'd switch in a heartbeat.
  21. You know that if Blizzard employees would read this they'd laugh their asses off? The mere fact that they still compete with a brand new MMO who could grab experiences off multiple other MMOs, had a giant amount of cash to start with and the newest technology both programming wise and graphic wise AND has the whole star wars thing going for them is already a big laugh at SWTOR. That's like creating a new cellphone and people still tend to take their older one that they had for 10 years and used its features for a million times instead of the new one with the latest technology, and that for EXACTLY the same amount of cash. Ok Bliz is losing costumers, big deal, they knew this all along why the hell do you think they're making a new MMO possibly called "Titan"? Do you think SWTOR will still be competing with Titan when it gets out? You guys make me lol. The fact WoW has been around so long is one massive achievement, an achievement that SWTOR will never reach I'll bet you all my money on that.
  22. This and many many other things have led me to believe the people working at Bioware are not very intelligent. They can not anticipate things (ilum, pvp, gear design, launch, etc etc) and can only adapt according to experience. If I had one good suggestion if any to Bioware, hire yourself an intelligent lead designer with final say on basically everything. Who can make well analysed decisions and add a great deal more brainpower to make innovations and plans. Having too many people have a say in the design process is also not a very good idea. I know this may hurt to designers reading this but it's nothing but the truth without pussyfooting it.
  23. Yeh exactly the reason why I keep starting new alts to find some fun in there but then stop quickly to not look at the alt again. It feels like one big drag to level an alt honestly, too many sidequests, a game should NEVER be "what? I just killed 20 of them, I need to kill 40 of them now??". That's the line I said with my first char, now I simply don't feel like doing it all over again.
