  1. Title question basically? was wondering if Nadia/Doc will still have a companion alert if I choose to help the Empire on Ossus with my Jedi Consular or Knight.
  2. So I actually got both of them recently from the DvL event. The way I did it requires a little bit of time and also money enough to do a couple transfers. The event is legacy specific so you can do it on each server. There being 8 servers you can actually complete it 8 different times. The key is not to finish the last tier. The other 5 tiers are fairly easy to finish and doing them will give you 55 packs per server. Once you have completed it on all servers is when you start to open up the packs. I actually finished it on 7 servers and received something like 3 upper body, 3 lower body, and 2 supplementary from the close to 400 packs I opened. Obviously these won't all be on the same servers, so here's the key to filling out your set. Make sure you leave all Revan items in item stash. Do not pull them out or they will bind. So let's say you get Revan's upper body on Harb, Revan's Lower body on Shadowlands, and Revan's supplementary on JC. What you do is pull the supplementary out of item stash on JC, then transfer that character to Harbinger, where you are then eligible to pull the Upper body out of stash there. That way you get upper and supplementary bound to the same character. After that you can either wait until that character is eligible for transfer again to go get the lower body, or if you like can just purchase Revan's robes from the GTN, as they're usually cheap and you'll save yourself a second transfer. After that you pay the 400cc to unlock to collections and you're set. You can do this with any of the armor sets from the event, you are only limited by your ability to perform character transfers and of course the time it takes to complete the Dark vs. Light event. I did end up having to purchase some of the Revan Reborn set (upper body I think) as it seems to be the rarer of the two, but it was still much cheaper than buying the entire set off the GTN.
  3. I like Jung Ma just the way it is thanks. The one thing they should do is put accurate server populations on the server menu, so that new players won't roll on a very low pop server without knowing what they're getting into. For those of us that have been here a while and stayed because we prefer low pop servers it's fine. Honestly everyone who wanted to leave has had enough time to transfer or reroll on a different server. Most of these threads asking for merges are populated by people who are currently playing on Harb or another fairly populated server and feel they need to chime in on matters that don't really affect them. Not sure why people care so much about servers they don't even play on.
  4. I really want to throw in some angry old man stuff about BC WoW. Now that was a life crushing grind. Of course then someone from EQ will drop some crazy story about God knows what and call me a youngster and tell me to get off their lawn so I'll abstain. What I will say is I'm pretty sure it'll be cake easy to knock out all the way up to Eternal level in a weekend. And if you do that you'll have pretty much all the rewards one would want. The Legendary level is of course a different story but obviously it's meant to be grindy as ****. Which is what MMO's have. And yes, MMO grinds aren't generally littered with new content, my 2 other MMO's of choice FF14 and WoW both have an ton of grinds. Final Fantasy makes you do a million hours worth of grind before you can even access the expansion and WoW has a title 'The Insane' which is aptly named. Honestly if you don't want to do the Light v. Dark thing then don't, but it's not like this event is replacing current content. The chapters are still being released every month and it's not like this event required a bunch of coding or a vast amount of man hours from the Dev Team. It's just an incentive to run old content for prizes in case you were bored over the summer. It's an extra event they added just for the lols which doesn't change one iota of their release schedule or the amount of new content that comes out. Look at yourselves, they could have literally not done this event, replaced it with nothing, and you all would be less angry then you are. So sure, criticize so they can do better in the future, but let's stop acting like the sky is falling. Everything this board does is so melodramatic. The only result is they'll never do anything extra for the players again, and I'm sure I'm not the only person that will probably have a few hours of fun doing some of this stuff (at least the weekend it will take to get the new companion)
  5. I posted my pack results on these boards for a few releases a while back to attempt to gauge the average golds/silvers etc. I could go back to see the exact percentage I was running but I think they're about the same. The thing is even 20 or 30 crates would be a fairly small sample size when discussing percentages or RNG on something like this. It would be nice if Bioware would do like other collector card companies do (since it's the same general idea) and list the odds of rare or super rare. It would be nice to have sort of a benchmark for what we should expect. Perhaps they feel that would hurt sales though I'm not sure. If I had to put a wild guess out there I'd say odds are something like this... Bronze 50% Silver 35% Gold 15% Platinum .5% Roughly. Bronze could be slightly higher or lower and Gold might be on the high end at 15% could be closer to 12 or 13. As for platinum it's possible it's a 1% drop but it just feels like 1 in 200 packs is closer to accurate than 1 in 100. Again this is still speculation because you'd truly need a massive sample size to state anything more firmly.
  6. Chance cubes are 1000 times better than bronze items that used to drop. Anyone who bought hypercrates before chance cubes knows you could fill up an entire tab with bronze armor pieces that you were lucky to sell on the GTN for 10,000 credits per. Considering the chance cubes resell for an average of 20 times that it's so much better than it used to be. The idea that if chance cubes weren't there you'd get more silver and gold items is false. If chance cubes were absent we wouldn't see a huge uptick in weapon tunings or creature companions. Instead you'd get some other type of filler. We've seen what that filler could be, it's bronze armor sets that NO ONE wants. Let's keep the chance cubes, sometimes you get an extra gold out of them, which will always be better than what the alternative was before.
  7. I think the problem with this pack specifically is how desirable the defiant vented saber is and how incredibly rare it is. Those who spend a lot of money (people like the OP and to be honest myself) are accustomed to being able to attain the full collection of goods offered through a pack release in about 5 hypercrates (which is about $200). Sure there will be the occasional odd item missed but it's usually easy to pick up on the GTN on the relative cheap, and after selling duplicate items or chance cubes a cartel market regular will even end up making a profit. With the case of the new platinum rarity it makes it so regular hypercrate purchasers can no longer be guaranteed to get everything in a pack, and with the lightsaber's probably going for over 50mil the GTN market for it is also uncomfortable. It changes the entire dynamic in a way that leaves some uncomfortable, and now even those who regularly throw down a few hundred a month see less value in it. This has happened a lot recently. First the removal of a lot of the items like Reputation/gifts/jawa junk was a terrible blow to regular Cartel shoppers. They fixed this with the return of gifts and jawa junk, which is why I cringe when people complain about gifts as a couple of the recent OP's have. The gifts and jawa junk aren't the problem because they're not getting in the way of new pack material, they're just bonuses and they are bonuses that were sorely missed when they were gone. Second major change was the chance cubes. I was one of those upset originally by the chance cubes, but since then and now I've come around quite a bit. Reason being the chance cubes are so much more profitable on the GTN than the piles of bronze crap we used to get. So again to those complaining, chance cubes aren't the problem. They're so much better than what you would get instead. The major problem with these complaint threads is the idea that if Bioware just removed companion gifts or jawa junk or chance cubes all the sudden platinum rarity items would rain from heaven like mana, but this simply is not the case. So let's focus on the actual problem which is drop rates for the rarest items. I personally don't think there is any difference in gold item drop rates in the past few crates. Perhaps other people have had bad luck or what have you but RNG is gonna RNG. Furthermore gold items can be obtained relatively cheaply through the GTN. So that leaves us with the 2 new things that cause the most unrest. First these platinum items, the new thing Bioware is trying out with the last few packs. This should be where we focus most of the discussion. Is it a good idea to make something so scarce that even the "whales" that have propped up the Cartel Market for so long have trouble attaining it? Will it see an increase in crate sales or is this the proverbial 'going to the well once too many times'? I'm not sure, I personally am not overly upset with platinum items, but I in no way represent all hypercrate purchasers. The other new thing is the weapon tunings. They are gold rarity and I wouldn't say they necessarily drop less than any other gold item. The problem with these though is the inability to unlock them via CC. This causes a lot of consternation as to which character to use it on, and since this game is largely based on how many alts a person can run through content I'd say most everyone (and especially those who engage deeply in the cartel market) have a dozen to 5 dozen alts they now have to choose from as to which special flower gets the tuning. For the platinum rarity I'd say let the market decide, though Bioware would be wise to not bleed too much money too fast from customers. As to the tuning I think due to it's scarcity there should be no reason not to allow it to be unlocked via cartel coins. But that's my rambling 2 cents on the matter.
  8. Chance cubes do not drop companion gifts. Even after the patch today I haven't seen a single companion gift drop from a chance cube.
  9. RNG is RNG? I don't doubt that you regularly buy hypercrates but it's possible you just got insanely unlucky. I haven't noticed anything different with this pack. I bought 3 hypercrates I received 2 Defiant Vented Dualsaber's (platinum) Wicked Huntress Set (all 3 crates plus an additional Upper Body)(Gold) Commander Vizla's Upper Body (gold) Vectron Enforcer mount (gold) Damaged Weapon Tuning (gold) 3 Mando War Tents (Gold Deco's) 2 other gold deco's that were lightsaber things For silver I got Full Duststorm survivor set Wasteland Raider Upper and Lower body armor Additional 8 crates of silver armor All silver weapons Additional 8 silver weapons 2 different pets 3 additional pets (copies) All silver mounts 2 extra mounts All 4 crystals (with like 10 extra) Maybe got more chance cubes than usual but did pull a Darth Malgus Holostatue, Reaver Armor, and Extrovert Armor out of them among the usual dross.
  10. Hey all. I'm not entirely sure if this is a bug or me losing my mind so I wanted to canvas some of the board here. Today I was unlocking field respect etc across most of my toons and realized that my Legacy Improved Class Mission experience unlocks were showing as not purchased on most of my characters. Thing is, I remember unlocking them on every character I leveled up. Now in most cases this doesn't matter, as the character in question is done with class missions and already leveled past the point it would help. But not in all cases. I was curious if any old timers who unlocked all these are experiencing a similar problem of them now being locked, or if I'm losing my mind and never unlocked them in the first place.
  11. The term 'dead servers' applies to what exactly? I feel like the only 3 that apply are Bastion, Jung Ma, and Pot5. The others all currently have multiple instances of fleet and at least 100 players on the force user starter planets (Tython, Korriban). I play occasionally on Shadowlands, JC, and Ebon Hawk. I feel those servers are doing okay. I know Harbinger is good and Bergeron has good numbers though I never play on it so I wouldn't necessarily know even anecdotally. With that said I think a mega-server type merge would be unnecessary and most likely be a very negative PR move for Bioware. This leaves us with the 3 servers I mentioned before. All 3 of these servers were basically 'dead' back when server transfers were still 1800cc. Because Bioware didn't want to force people to play on servers that were low pop they did the following things. 1. Reduced the price of transfers to 90cc 2. Allowed you to transfer your legacy with your character. 3. Made it abundantly clear they would not merge servers. (stifling false hope and making it easier to rationalize a transfer) 4. Kept the price of transfers at 90cc FOREVER!!!! Giving everyone ample time to move. 5. Integrated PvP/PvE instances into every server, giving those on dying PvP servers the opportunity to transfer to a more populalated server without losing their preffered style of gameplay. 6. Continued to keep the price of transfers at 90cc. 7. Made it clear again that there would never be an opportunity to move your stongholds or Guild ships via transfer. 8. Did I mention left transfers at the extremely groundbreakingly no other MMO is doing this price of 90cc (which is less than a doller in real life currency.) for a reaaaaly long time. They did all of this. They've never hidden the fact that they weren't going to do a server merge. Never once given anyone the inclination that there might be a possibility to transfer entire guilds across servers. Basically they've been saying for a year. "Hey! if you want to move do it, we'll make it crazy cheap for you to do!" Anyone who hasn't transferred already has only themselves to blame. As for reasons why the don't do server merges... The majority of people left on lower pop servers are probably there because they want to be. Either because they enjoy leveling in relative solitude or because they're super attached to their name. Not everyone wants server merges. For those that wanted off the servers there was ample time and opportunity for them to leave. Not leaving (when it was so easy to do) and then demanding server merges against the wishes of those that stayed because they wanted to is unfair to that particular group. As for reasons why you can't transfer guild ships. Not sure. I agree a token would seem to be an easy fix but I guess Bioware is wary about allowing 1 person (even if they are the guild leader) the ability to take away an entire guilds hard work and effort with them when they transfer. They'd probably get a lot of complaints from those left behind in the form of "Our Guild Leader RAN OFF with our ship after I put 60million credits into it". WoW didn't allow guild transfers for that very reason for a very long time. And that was just because they didn't want one person to be able to move a guild bank away from it's members, add in guild strongholds and guildships and it gets to be an even messier experience. tl;dr. There was ample time to server transfer at a very reduced rate. You can still server transfer your legacy and level a whole new servers worth of characters to 65 in about a week. The power is in your hands and no one else's. Stop being victims.
  12. KOTFE isn't really the most impressive experience I grant. I think part of it may be that when they designed all this content last year they were working off of a fairly shoestring budget. You have to remember all of the stuff we're even now getting on a monthly basis is content they supposedly had designed and in the can back in August of last year. I'm hoping (though not at all certain it will work this way) that with the success of KotFE that 5.0 will be a much more impressive expansion. I think the recent open letter to fans letting us know that they have the backing of EA et al was a good sign, perhaps that wasn't the case at this point last year. Also they've hired back some of the original writers (drew K. in any case) which would signify that perhaps the next bunch of stuff they're working on will be better than what we currently are receiving. In any case I sympathize with your point about moving from one MMO to another. I also take turns between SWTOR, WOW, and FFIV. I think it gives me the ability to keep from getting overly bored with any one game. So I'd say take a break from SWTOR, the game will be here when you come back, and it might be fun again. Also coming back anytime grants you all of the chapters at once, so you can experience the entire story at once. Perhaps that will make it more meaningful for you.
  13. Shadowlands has by far the best GTN. As long as server transfers have been 90cc I've done all my shopping on Shadowlands, they're like the mall the next town over.
  14. I like Jung Ma and would prefer they not merge servers. I'm sure most of the people on Jung Ma are there because they want to be.
