  1. levelling process is engaging (it's not), .

    >Implying SWTOR doesn't have the most enjoyable leveling system in all of MMOs

In games like WoW and even GW2 you just go from place to place pointlessly killing mobs (In the case of GW2 you might change something about the world but lets face it no one really care at the lower levels). In SWTOR you get to choose responses and while they may not do much in the long run its a very engaging leveling process that allows you to mold an actually character instead of an avatar.

  2. Maybe they should have picked even one of those things and concentrated on it?

I'd rather have a weak mixture of what we have than something like GW2, where if you don't like WvWing all the time than you're SOL.

Had they picked one thing and foucused on it than this game would go the same path as WAR or GW2. What they have now allows for growth of all MMO aspects.

  3. I think it will be a long time, if ever.

Here is an interview that does not reference class stories but it talks about companion storylines; looks like we wont be seeing much continuation for them anytime soon. I dont think individual storlines is financialy obtainable yet.

    http://www.swtorface.com/2012/09/swtor-companion-qna-with-lead-system.html

Q: Are there any plans to advance on current Companion story lines? Some of us have developed intimate relations with our Companions, and even married them and now they won't talk to us!

A: I will put this as 'on our radar screen but not imminent'. Building companion content is very, very expensive for us (most people only play one of their companions heavily, so there is a one-in-forty chance that any companion content will be consumed). Also, the benefits of companions once you hit level 50 isn't great since you don't use them for operations or warzones. I'd really like to address the utility problem before we jump on creating more content for them.

A good solution to this would be to continue the love interest companion's story line while putting the other on the back burner. Maybe for every 3 LI story continuation you get 1 non love interest continuation.

  4. Exactly. The lack of iconic races outside of Twi'lek and Purebloods sucks. The players being told that we couldn't relate to other races was even worse. What makes a blue skinned, red eyed Chiss easier to relate to than a Rodian? Both are humanoid.

Because that Blue skin red-eyed Chiss has human facial features.

My argument against adding things like Wookie and Rodian is the fact that even in SWG they where extremely underplayed when compared to Human and what not. In a word I would not add them simply because there is no demand for them outside of the SWG crowd.

  5. So the game needs to be optimized for the lowest common denominator? Come on dodging is not "that hard" so everyone would run away. Walking out of an AOE circle is pretty lame anyway, dodging would spice this up

The thing is though thats all dodging is really good for so why add it?

  6. There was a poll pre launch that calculated all the SWG races people played.

Its was like 70% of the player base played Human, Zabrak or Twilik. While the highest non-humonioid looking race was only the 8% wookie.

My suggestion would be to add something along the lines of "Hero Races" (see WoWs hero classes) were you're allowed to play crap like Wookie but you have flat companions and story.

  7. Its really not.

F2P should be an alternative for people who, A)Don't play enough justify 15$ a month or B) People who only partake in one portion of the game.

Look at LOTRO and DCUO, whats the point of subbing when you can pay 15$ to unlock crap. This sounds good to the guy who's looking for an alternative to subbing long term, but for the guy who just wants to check things out its awful.

  8. My concern is that this will be the ONLY way to get new "cool" stuff going forward. I'm fearful that all new gear looks will be primarily store bought vs. in-game rewards.

I still think we'll get the ugly armor that we're used to with hulkly looking shoulders in-game. But will have to pay for the more toned down, cool, yet practical gear.

  9. I think this is what it's going to be. Just from looking at the bonus coins, I can't see it being much higher, that would top the bonus out at around $25, right? But then that means subscribers would only get $2 a month in cartel coins.

As a sub you really wouldn't need that 2$ for anything save for any Armour or companion one might think is cool.

  10. The current restrictions for the F2P will make the whole F2P changeover be a flop, its too tight they need to loosen up the restrictions.

''Let say 5 deaths, make it it 10.

Only 5 Warzones, make it 10.''

    ^ Example

Just double the current restrictions or remove some.

It isn't five deaths its five med probes that rez you on the spot.

  11. Obviously you never really got into GW2, as dodging was extremely potent and also further amplified the difference between good and bad players. Obviously you don't use your dodge vs a normal attack, you use it to dodge your opponent's CC or heavy hitting attacks, which you can all recognize by their animations. In WvWvW being able to dodge 50 players all focussing on you for over 6 seconds may just be delaying the inevitable, but that is still better than what would happen without said dodge ability.

Edit: (Ignore this I misread what you typed)Dodging regular attack was foolish because you wouldn't have energy left over to dodge a CC or heavy hit.

    Read this:

The thing is in GW2 you always ran into 50+ people because its entire endgame was more or less WvW once you got done farming karma.

  12. what you may have missed about GW2 dodging, is that you are actually immune to damage during and even a couple frames after the dodge. so even if you dont avoid the attack physically, you will still avoid the damage.

Yes but it was pretty pointless to dodge just normal attack as you really only had 2-3 dodges (due to energy recharging) per fight, and don't even get me started on how pointless it was in WvW unless you are trying to get into your keep.

Damn I am being reminded how disappointed I was in that game.

  13. Played GW2 for the last few months and found it to be more gimmicky than fun, especially when you bearly roll faster than you run and you'd only use it to get out of AOEs and avoid big hits. Other than that I found it pretty pointless and added almost nothing to my enjoyment of its combat.
