  1. Yup. That said if I can get 300 hours ((the time they say it takes to complete 1 character to 50 and do all the arcs)) X 8 = 2400 hours of game play or 100 days of game play out of this game just from the stuff in my first list I'll consider the $60 + $15 a month well spent. I went into this game knowing that if I played it like a KOTOR game that had a few social options and group only things, I'd be happy enough playing all 8 arcs to see what happens. Anything else was gravy, as they say.
  2. Totally agree, but this is not the game that shatters the "Let's do things Like WoW and rake in Phat Cash" wall. Extra Credits on Penny-Arcade TV had an interesting episode on MMOs where one of the topics they covered was what would be the next big thing in MMOs that wouldn't be like what had gone before. That said I like the game for what it is, but I realize that what it is now is not that much different then WoW. Of course, keep in mind that there is a reason that McDonalds has more clones of it then any $250 a plate fancy eating place does... people like comfort and the familar.
  3. I imagine we'll get a dungeon finder eventually. Most people seem to expect that now, and even companies that say they don't want to put one in, eventually do. I mean they already have that for PvP, you don't spam general that you are looking for PvP and then all go to a PvP loading zone and wait for people from the other side to do the same thing.
  4. Wrong Bar, the bar it set was the amount of money it made. The reason that EA and Bioware were willing to put so much money into this game was because they thought they could make it back. WoW's income total had to factor in their thinking about how much money they could make in the MMO market.
  5. Except the game didn't launch where WoW is now. It has something that are far far better... Story, 8 Different Paths, Morality System, Companions, Voice Acting, and I like the Dungeon Design better as well as the Instancing for solo quests as well as Dungeons. However it has something that are worse... UI, Guild Functions, End Game, PvP, and the time between actions happening and the time the button is pressed. Until the day that any MMO closes down it's not done and can change. That said if WoW wasn't an evolution then neither is this game.
  6. Don't forget Pokemon... I heard that was all the rage like 8+ or so years ago.
  7. People compare the two games because if I have to choose what game to play now... which is really the only metric that matters... I'm not choosing between this game as it is now and WoW of 7 years ago. I'm choosing between how they are today. I mean, you wouldn't go into a new fast food store get a crappy hamburger that was nasty with horibad customer services and care that they go.. well McDonald's has been around for over 50 years! That said, I feel this game more then stacks up to WoW now as it is. There are things I wish they would add and do, but it's still a better experience for my money.
  8. Leveling an ALT will actually make the problem "worse" as when you come back to your main you'll have the dreaded rested exp that gamers hate so much.
  9. I thought that was one of the big factors of Star Wars. Jedi are all about order and calm, which doesn't lend itself to progression. They are the leaders/defenders of the realm that everybody looks up to. We know from the history that they "win" this conflict. Change happens because of events that are chaotic. That said things like the Suncrusher and the like aren't officially part of the same universe as the movies. In the movies the tech didn't advance all that much. X-Wing fighters were still the big fighters for the rebels. Sure there were more in the 3rd movie, A-Wings and B-Wings, but they weren't better then the X-Wings... they just were different. Timothy Zahn ((sp?)) wrote a very cool series of novels that explained the clone wars and the like, and the pre-movies completely nullified everything in it.
  10. Not really. Is TOR going against WoW as it is now, or as it was at release? If I'm a new player I don't care that 7 years ago what shape WoW was in. ((Good or Bad, many players feel WoW has gotten worse in many aspects.)) What matters to me is if I log in, what is my experience... today. That said TOR *might* have more upside, but when you are talking about games that have the ability to radically shift just because of an expansion pack. An example being look at wow's talent point system compared to Release, Now, and after the xpac.
  11. I believe Bioware stated that they only were going to sell a set number of copies of the game at launch in order to limit some of the launch issues with overcrowding and the like. My guess is that once the Ques are down to more reasonable levels they'll open up sales again.
  12. I don't believe the rest ability cools off your heat any faster then just standing around does. So no.
