Holy $@!$, they are doing something right.
-
The lack of model collision would make this near impossible to implement in a balanced manner.
-
I never understood why just having similar / roughly equal stats on PvE and PvP gear would be so imbalanced, as long as the rate of progression/acquisition was roughly the same
You say never understood it, but then say the very reason why it isn't. It's nearly impossible to balance the 2. And in some cases, you would have to make compromises that would hurt one side or both in order to keep the progression rate the same.
-
If you just want to kill people endlessly while ignoring objectives, go play CoD. It's the game designed for you in mind.
-
The way I see it is that the purpose of the bags is for tokens, with the bonus chance of getting a loot token. I'm not a huge fan of the completely random chances of a bonus item, but then again it's a bonus item after all.
I'll support anything to keep the progression pace slow. If I was fully geared by now, I would have quit the game already.
The problem with this is they are going to create a significant gear gap that won't be balanced out for months. This is change that would work within the first few weeks of release, but not nearly 2 months in.
-
Ya, ya I know March seems far away. But hang in there . Maybe roll an alt or two for pressure release when high end gets frustrating. I find myself effective with all characters in 1-49 PVP with blue gear and I roll alot of alts.
By March, Tera/D3/GW2 will be either out or in beta. I see little reason to continue playing at that point. These changes show Bioware doesn't understand they game they built or what PvPers want. I don't care if it takes longer to get PvP gear. I just want control over my progression.
-
Wow...so they see all the people quitting because they are opening 20 bags to find 1 piece of token gear.......so their pitiful response is to make it even harder to get token gear. Good going BW. With logic like that, the game cant help but succeed.
But hey, you will get centurion tokens faster. It's not like they are nerfing expertise or the T2 PvE set is easier to get. Oh wait.

1.1.2 changes
in PvP
-
I lold,
Its easier to get a full set of pvp gear in this game than it is to get 1 peice in Aion. If you think this is hard.. i just think pvp isnt for you.
I rather have Aion system. I want control of my gear progression, not rely on RNG. I didn't get my champion main hand until valor 59.5. And I was only valor 10-15 when I hit 50. And this was all pre-Ilum changes.
-
Just do what every other fresh 50 does and get carried in Huttball until you get enough dailies done that your not useless.
Or, QQ on the forums, your call.
This may come as surprise to you, but there is actually 2nd faction in this game and they never get Huttball.
-
Just go for t2 PvE set. It's easier to get and since they are nerfing expertise, It will be nearly just as good. Then grind Ilum to valor 60. Champion bags will be a waste of time in 1.1.2.
-
Also, lets reduce the effectiveness of PvP gear, giving even less incentive to get it since t2 PvE gear will be nearly as good and is easier to get.
-
Bioware's incompetence on this issue is, quite frankly, frightening...
PvPers: "We don't like the RNG/Luck system."
Solution: "Okay. You will now be able to gain more crappy gear at a more steady rate, but need even MORE RNG/Luck to get anything good."
PvPers: "Yeeeah, so when's Guild Wars 2 coming out?"
Or D3. Or Tera, I'll take Korean grind fest over this any day.
-
I didn't go through the 1-49 bracket because I wanted to pvp their, it's just once you hit battlemaster, this is little reason to pvp other than finish dailies/weeklies. The pvp isn't that spectacular in this game to make me want to do it for no reason at all.
-
HM flashpoints / operations to get your full t2 pve set. Grind Ilum to valor 60, then do dailies/weeklies to get Champ set which may or may not be better for PvP than the t2 pve set.
-
Actually that's a decent solution, IF they make the commendations drop rate at least 5x as big.
The commendations are useless. I only bought 1 piece (my helm) since i never got the drop for it. The pve t2 set is just better, even for pvp. And now that expertise is getting nerfed, this will be even more so true.
So now, you get useless Centurion commendations more frequently, and useful pvp gear less frequently. It might be better just to go for your t2 pve gear and grind valor in Ilum until 60, and then try to get the Champion set.
-
The solution to this comes in two parts: now and next tier.
Now: Remove Valor requirement for battle master gear. Make it as easily obtainable.
Next tier: Come up with a not random, not a completely non-skill related grind in order to distribute PvP gear.
Right now, this is the only way to "balance" pvp in anyway. Give it up, and spend your resources on ensuring this problem never happens again. We will forgive you if you just admit your mistake.
^this
I don't care if if takes 1k of each commendation or more. Just give me a way to actually control my pvp loot progression. Whoever decided RNG loot was a good idea needs to find another game genre to work in, that is not what PvPers want.
-
The number of commendations in Champion and Battlemaster Bags has been greatly increased, and the direct item trade tokens appear less frequently in Champion Bags. This change allows players to obtain PvP gear at a steady and significantly more predictable rate with an occasional bonus.
Bioware's solution? To make it even worse.
Le Sigh...

Bioware needs to read this thread: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=245074

Really Bioware? You just don't get it.
The number of commendations in Champion and Battlemaster Bags has been greatly increased, and the direct item trade tokens appear less frequently in Champion Bags. This change allows players to obtain PvP gear at a steady and significantly more predictable rate with an occasional bonus. So, to fix the issue, you are going make everyone that isn't 50 yet or just hit 50 so far behind, that they minimal chance to succeed. This change will make a ridiculous gear gap for months. The gap between centurion and champion gear is too big for this kind of change. Not to mention, you are making it even more RNG dependent. We want less RNG.

How Bioware screws up a simple coding issue like this is beyond me.
-
I approve of this message.

I hear LoSing kills mercs/BH's. They just fall over dead. /sarcasm...
LoS is not counter in a game with objective based pvp. If this was team deathmatch, sure.
-
Forced grouping kills games.
It was possible during a brief period of time where there was no other option.
That will never be the case again.
Sorry that no one wants to group with you. Trying to force everyone to not solo isn't going to fix that.
Yet several of those games are still going on strong. And it's not an issue of not finding groups, I have guild for that.
It's an issue of the content not being designed for grouping. It's not fun mindlessly moving from point to point killing things that provide zero challenge.
Who didn't thik the story was THAT great??

Smuggler isn't great. Felt like a bad Scooby Doo episode.
Sage was better, but predictable and nothing special.
