I did this as both an assassin and a sorc, neither were that hard I think I was level 31 or 32. I think I actually had a harder time on my sorc since it was my first character, on my assassin it was easy.

[PvP DPS Gear - Tank or DPS?]

Running full vindicator gear with the shield generator and soresu form is viable with a DPS build though. If you are slick with rage management it can be a bit OP, but it requires some really good feel for rage usage to pull it off.

 

Is this comparable to a darkness assassin with DPS gear and a shield?

What I would do (if I were a BW security consultant), is suggest they examine the code for all of these hack programs and determine what they are doing, and then build a system that would render them obsolete. If they are poking memory at XYZ location, for example, rewrite your code so that the ONLY thing that writes to that memory location is a watch_XYZ() method, and then if the memory ever changed without going through watch_XYZ() you know you've identified a hack.

 

I would approach this the exact same way, you have to use the same secure coding practices that are needed in every other industry like finance and healthcare. I would also suggest finding the IP address ranges in ARIN for the popular vpn services and see if there is a manageable way to restrict connections to the game from it. I can't think of a good reason to be connecting to the game sourcing from one of those services unless you have something to hide.

[Cheating in PvP?]

After doing some reading and research it's obvious there is a large group of people hacking the game. One site I found linked to a blog to download a utility to do just the things people claim to be seeing in WZs. This opens it up to anyone who has the ability to click a few buttons and it's obvious people are low enough that they feel the need to resort to cheating. With the way people are it doesn't really surprise me, I will continue report people as I see them and wait for bioware to implement a fix.

 

All software will have some exploits, trust me I work in IT Security and see a long list of vulnerabilities every week. The best thing bioware can do is find them, patch them, and implement code to protect against future exploits. It's not going to be full proof but I think it will improve. Like it has already been said these programs are coming from people who are skilled in coding and using a debugger.

I played as a sorc, I constantly shield buff myself. You must be really bad.

 

Try again I'm in half champ/half battlemaster gear and seeing hits like that on me ~ 950 expertise. The bubble in this case wouldn't do much since it would only absorb a chunk of the damage and last time I checked there's at least a 17 second debuff on it depending on set bonus. I love the little kiddies on the forum who have to flame someone to buff their ego, nice try.

When I'm seeing marauders/sentinels hit me for 4500 in a single hit, but their dps sucks.

 

There are times if I'm under 80% HP and they get their root on me that I"m dead before the root is over as a sorc, a good player with this AC right now is extremely powerful.

I strongly disagree with you lightning barrage is much too powerful compared to creeping terror when you double dip on it, that one extra force lightning will do more damage than the entire duration of your creeping terror, and It will most likely proc as often as creeping terror cd, and on live it is no contest having that plus cl is a massive upgrade over creeping terror.

 

Only advantage that creeping terror has is the 2 sec root, as I said this is very powerful, but the damage is better imo, much better to kill someone then root them for 2 seconds don't you think.

 

However creeping terror will be much more viable in 1.2, and it will be a preference, but imo lightning barrage with a double dip is just soooo much better, if they fix the double dip then I would probably go with creeping terror.

I do agree that while lightning barrage is still allowing double dips it will remain the highest dps spec and Kor's sim data confirms it. However if it does get removed they will all be very close in dps numbers and I personally find the play style for madness to be much better overall. Creeping terror has helped my team win a few matches in huttball and allowed us to stop people with full resolve bars when it was needed the most. I do think creeping terror is a bit weak of a dot for a 31 point talent but the 2 sec root makes up for it partially I think. Either way I don't think 1.2 will kill dps sorcs like may are saying but only time will tell.

In addition to what was already said don't forget to use reckless and ensure all your abilities are updated by the trainer before going in. I remember thinking this would be a tougher fight then it was but I did die once before figuring out what I needed to do. Good luck!

Yea the nerf to wrath is something that I can't say I like, but not one that I can't say I didn't see coming. I've played most of the builds out there 0/13/28, 0/17/28, 0/23/18, and a few other variants. I knew it was coming some I made myself learn a different build so this one won't hurt me as much.

 

The changes to disintegrate and calcify are surprising but I don't think it's going to kill the character, and to be honest there not much we can do other than test it out and see how bad it's really going to be. My main damage deals creeping terror, crushing darkness and affliction are all going to be the same other than the small boost affliction will be getting.

 

I'll keep on playing until it's no longer fun, and if this means it gets hard then fine. I'll find what I need to change and move on, the ops were nerfed pretty bad from what I've read. They are still a thorn in my side when they sneak up on me in a wz, so it looks like they've adapted. People just hate change and especially when it's not going to be easy.

 

I do think the healing changes should be revised because with my limited exposure on the healing side it definitely could use the current force bending rather then the new version.
