  1. I actually don't think it's a problem really anymore. I've noticed since yesterday when subs would have started ending for the official one month'ers, (30 days trial, + pay one month,) After this point, if you resub, you've officially paid a sub twice, which by definition would mean you favor the game. Anything beyond that really doesn't matter. Besides, the forums look WAY better, most of the stuff is generally positive, or at least focused on productive discussions(for the most part).
  2. My brain hurts from this thread. Try doing a search or simply look back 2 pages and you'll find hundreds of complaint threads. This is just another thread with the purpose of starting an argument. People who cancelled there subs don't usually come back to the forums to ask why.
  3. Edit: I could have been wrong about the lvl, i think 75 was later, release was 70.
  4. Sky is a whole different concept. Thats Several expansions in, I was referring to the release of games, and what they had available at the time
  5. See my edit above for the answer to your question. Oh and one more note: TOR has released more content and updates in 2 months than almost any other MMO out there. I have over 300 days played among 4 characters and over 100 + days on several other MMO's. I can completely see myself playing for that long. As I am aware they are releasing more content, and i'm STILL not anywhere close to being done with the content i'm currently experiencing. 50 BH, 50 Scoundrel, 37 shadow, 32 SI
  6. Guy plays Skyrim for 100 hours, and says "Man!, that was a great game!" Guy plays SW:TOR for 300 hours and says "Man!, there is nothing to do!, what a terrible game!" Edit: Anonymous player: But! But! Thats a single player game and this is multiplayer. My answer: Have you really done EVERYTHING; can you find me ANY MMO out there that doesn't require you to repeat content? Pretty certain they all require this.
  7. FFXI level to 75... Where's your subclass? Technically you have to roll an alt. This was a necessity, if you went to a 36 hour boss pop with a lvl 75 character and no alternate subclass, you were screwed, and pretty weak overall. Bioware stated in a video interview back towards launch that said that this game would have part of the gameplay focused on the ability to replay a new character with ease. Just take for example the legacy system, a system that is by in large designed around rolling multiple characters. If you don't like experiencing multiple stories from different standpoints, perhaps this game isn't for you.
  8. My thoughts: The problem often forgotten is not everyone falls under a blanket-term, "hater or fanboy." For myself, I can appreciate both positive and negative criticism; blindly following (without taking into consideration all the information available and forming your own opinion,) is only proof you cannot think for yourself. This concept applies to both those who hate the game, and those who enjoy the game equally. If you refuse to see one side, but continue to preach about another, it becomes very clear to everyone else that you are biased. With that being said, knowing the game has flaws and areas of improvement: Does that mean I don't enjoy it? Certainly not! I love this game and am perfectly capable of understanding it takes time for things to improve. Under the rare possibility that they decide to never fix something, I will continue to play the game until something more appealing comes along, or I get bored. Simple as that! If you’re a “hater”: Know this is a two way street; if you expect all of the fans recognize the "reality," as some call it: You also need to recognize that these fans can enjoy something, even if it's not working to your standards. If you’re a “fanboy”: Know this is a two way street; if you blind yourself to the issues at hand, and carry on as though there is nothing wrong with the game, you aren’t helping yourself or your argument. It is ok for people to post their feelings, opinions, and/or ideas about the game; as long as it remains productive, constructive or endures an actual purpose other than attempting to destroy the games reputation. Both sides of the argument are flawed. It's those customers who buy the game, play the game, and decide they hate it; go to the forums and provide zero feedback. They simply exclaim: those who like it are wrong, and spend their entire day attempting to destroy the games reputation, or debunk anyone with an opinion. The customers who completely go out of their way any time they see the tiniest issue, and blow it way out of proportion. It’s those customers who respond with statements like “go back to <insert game here>,” that really ruin productive discussions. Or the customers who see a legitimate complaint about a bug issue, and label someone a “hater,” rather than discuss the problem. It’s the customers who make irrelevant threads with the appearance of altruism, when it’s really selfishness involved. There is a considerable difference between each individual player and how they interpret this game and its launch. It's not fair for any one of us to lump sum anyone into a group or category. Each and every single person’s reaction is unique, and should be treated as such! It's those who blindly follow and blindly hate the game that should be disregarded. I’ve tried to remain as unbiased as possible; perhaps if more people can recognize this concept, we’d have a friendlier more constructive community! Remain neutral; allow yourself the ability of critical thinking, and consider all possibilities both negative and positive. This is what I strive for!
  9. Also, making a game into one long grind doesn't = gameplay.
  10. Don't be rediculous; I didn't get to 50 in 5 days either. Granted I had more free time back then. No I did not get to 75 in 5 days, but I also couldn't logon to FFXI for just an hour and find something to do. You needed nearly 3-5 hours just to get a group, find a location to grind (that wasn't taken already) and on top of it all, the group has to be worthwhile. PVP was always a joke with their little mini-game they added forever ago. FFXI leveling =/= SWTOR leveling
  11. lol right! Guy plays Skyrim for 100 hours, and says "Man!, that was a great game!" Guy plays SW:TOR for 300 hours and says "Man!, there is nothing to do!, what a terrible game!" Lets just skip right past the part that he tore through majority of the content and even the grinder part of content in less than 2 months. FFXI -- I got to lvl 75, and then did what? -- That's right, leveled a subclass, and then another subclass, and another. Why? Because that's what the end-game was consistent of, when you weren't waiting for a link shell member to tell you that a 36 hour Boss has popped. WoW -- I got to lvl 60 and did exactly what I am doing now on SW:TOR; PVP; Dungeons (Flashpoints) and Raid a few times a week (Operations). SWG -- There wasn't end-game at release, or really ever, it was a sandbox MMO. So I rolled my TK before jedi were ever released, and sat outside anchorhead and used Knockdown and beat people mercilessly all day long. I could go on an on about how it compares to other successful games, or I could do what others have and claim that old games shouldn't be compared to new games. Lets just take a moment to compare to some new games. Aion? Rift? Lotro? FFXIV? <insert any MMO released in past 5 years>? Where are they now? TOR has every bit to do as much as the next mmo. So why is everyone making a big deal over this one? They care. They want the game to succeed, but are then setting it up for failure by expecting more out of it than any MMO has ever offered or achieved. This game is no different than any other MMO release before it, and in many cases a lot more successful. It's really to bad those people can't see that, and are more concerned about having 100 people in their zone than utilizing the 40-60 that are. Anywho, I digress...
  12. Hmm... Yesterday was officially 2 months since release, not 3. Wasn't sure if you were confused on that part. 3 month time card is your excuse to explain an imaginary 60% value dictated by some random guy in a forum with no sources? Until they release numbers, why even speculate like you have any idea? I don't try and speculate when the sun will die, why speculate on things you cannot control or see?
  13. They spend $10 on development, make 20 million in sales. Ride the wave. *THIS IS HIGHLY EXAGGERATED*
  14. I have noticed one thing is dying: The sheer volume of complaints. I think the unsub button finally appealed to them over paying $15 to browse the forums.
  15. You start your review with LFG Tool. This is something everyone who has done ANY research knows they are implementing and are fully aware of it's requirement. So are many of the other complaints you mention. No-one will take your posts seriously if you don't do the research first.
  16. Great post. You mispelled a 'Were' a few times with "Where."
  17. Under what time frame could we expect Same-Gender Romance arcs in game? Possible by 1.3? Possible by mid year? Expansion? Just a rough estimate of when we can expect implementation or detailed incorporation plans. Could you give us a better idea?

  19. 50 BH, 50 Scoundrel 38 Shadow 32 SI /played: 9 days 22 hours for scoundrel 5 days 19 hours for BH others are <2 days.
  20. If you read over Stephen Reids explanation on Single Player vs Multiplayer games it might help you understand. ME3 multiplayer is restricted to a maximum player count, so the image renderings can be controlled. The amount of calls in TOR is completely different, as the amount of players varies for both sides. Edit: here's the post...
  21. Doesn't matter the example, it's all preference related. Notice how in schools they don't just appeal to one of your senses. They teach to many, visual, audio, physical touch. These all create a unique experience, and each person will enjoy them on a different level. Take for example the sheer volume of those people who dislike reading, and would rather watch T.V. Does that mean that people who watch movies are more inclined to experience a story better than those who read a book? Further, why wouldn't a game be on those exact same levels. Games provide both audio, visual, and interaction to the story. Personally I would think games might be the BEST medium.
  22. Thats why we call it 'preferences' Your preferences =/= my preferences. I prefer story, and the mechanics are less important to me than story. That doesn't make me right or you wrong, or vice versa.
  23. He mentioned this in the review, that story driven games are not the only track we should have gotten off on. But the reality is, gaming companies don't shape the direction we go, consumers do. Consumers purchase the games they enjoy or media convinced them to buy through advertisements. If we as consumers pick <insert genre here> we can't really blame the industry for creating games that reflect those interests.
