  1. Skaara, whether this is as much of a problem as you want it to be isn't really why you see people getting defensive, it's because you got defensive and started criticizing people and accusing them of being defensive lol. You come off as petulant and insecure, I don't think you're really convincing as many people or "showing the truth" or whatever as you think you are. And yes, you come off as the most defensive person in this thread. Ready for you to call me a defensive biodrone now
  2. Ah I would definitely be interested if it was imperial side, I'll be keeping an eye on the forums here to see if you pull it off and start setting up an imperial group!
  3. Hi everyone, yet another returning player here, I plan on sticking around now that SoR is out though, so I'm looking for a cool group of people to run end-game content with! My main is a level 60 sorc, but I have a 55 mara, and a few other classes at 50+. I have quite a bit of raid experience from other mmos, and I'm cool with using whatever voice chat program anyone wants. Basically, I'm just looking for a drama-free environment where we can run ops with a steady player base, and perhaps do some group pvp every now and then. Due to working swing shift, I'm mainly free on weekends and late nights, but also during the day most of the time. Take it easy!
  4. Ah ok, yeah that's more or less what I was thinking, sounds like I have some choices to make (or lots of credits to save). Well, thanks again!
  5. Hey everyone, newly returned player here starting an assassin, been reading the forums and I'm interested in trying out the 23/1/17 build for pvp when I get to 50. Thing is, I do want to pve every now and then at least, so I'm just wondering if that would be feasible (either as tank or dps) with this build, or do I have a lot of respeccing in my future? Thanks for any input!
  6. Hahaha wow, well I notice in your sig that you're from Mandalore the Indomitable, so I'm pretty much 100% sure that was me. What I was noticing going on was that you would break my stun, vanish out of electric bindings, and slow wasn't gonna be all that useful for anything unless I was just gonna run the hell away completely. Whirlwind I used on your healing companion, fat lot of good that did. So yeah after reading all these posts I realize I overestimated the number of pure cc breaks you have, but when you're gap-closing cd's are shorter than the ones I use to create space then it doesn't really matter, you're gonna be on me anyway a good part of the time. I also noticed it looked like you had a BM saber (assuming that's what the black-blue is for republic), and at the time the only pvp pieces I had were cent/champ and none of the main set pieces, so I kinda figured that had a little bit to do with it. And as for why I kept going after you, tbh it was because I saw it as a rare opportunity to get some 1v1 experience in a game with almost no pvp outside wz's on the way to 50. My sorc is my first 50, and as you can probably tell, prior to this posting I didn't know much about the abilities other classes could throw at me, especially mara/sent. I'd say it paid off in the end, it gave me some actual observations to take to the boards and now people have posted all kinds of helpful tips I've been using pretty well the past few days, thanks guys! That and it's a game, I mean I want to win like everybody else but I've gotta be having a pretty ****** day to really get butthurt about losing lol. I look forward to seein you out there again man, hopefully things'll be a little less one sided now ;P
  7. That was a huuuuge help to me, thanks a lot man!
  8. Ran into a Sentinel in world pvp today, granted he outgeared me pretty bad, but I got the impression there was something more I was missing as he drove me into the ground 3 times. My problem wasn't dps (i was able to burst him pretty low a couple times) but rather cc, and the fact that they seem to have more than we do. I say this because outside of overload (if specced), electrocute, and whirlwind are our only real snares, and i'll be damned if it didn't seem like he broke out of every single one. As for me, after i pop unbreakable will, its lights out for me as i get immediately snared again and bursted down before my bubble is back up on cd. So, if anyone has any advice as to how to kite a non-retarded marauder/sentinel (force slow is really only useful if you have speed up at the same time, and even then they'll just jump to you and burst you down), I would appreciate it greatly! =D
  9. No it all came from some interview somewhere from the person in question who worked with Lucas on the writing and direction of the original movies, main reason why i bring it up is in the hopes that someone more informed as to the intricacies of the originals' production could shed some light on the topic, so that we could all learn more about why the movies are the way they are (sorry if that's a little off topic I suppose). Especially in reference to how some of them are...."different" from the others stylistically. For all I know, the guy who did the interview could have just been disgruntled about getting short-changed at the end of the day and was just talking some smack. I do know that I didn't make any of that up myself at least, haha. Although I suppose whatever the case, the factual truth of any of that doesn't make too big a difference as to whether or not Lucas is a hack as a writer, the fact that KotOR1 was a better Star Wars story than the entire collection of 6 movies is proof of that. Take science fiction, throw in the most cliche fantasy tropes around (magic powers and "swords", some exotic creatures) and bam you have Star Wars.
  10. This is like saying The Old Repbulic (or whatever new game you want) is nowhere near as influential as pong was, and is therefore worse. Also, thread does support the title, the title pretty clearly states it's going to be about showing how the new movies are really not that much worse than the old ones were, and then the thread details several reasons. Also, on a side note, I remember reading somewhere before that there was some other guy who worked with George on the old ones, and that originally it was planned to take the series up to episode 9 and with a much darker tone (Palpatine lives at the end of 6, but Vader was still supposed to die); and then the merchandising profits exploded to astronomical amounts beyond their initial projections, George got a big head and decided to turn episode 6 into happy fun time hour. What should have been wookies became Ewoks (little pig-latin there), Luke and Anakin get to have a little heart to heart as they bask in the glow of having helped one another (in some way) to save the galaxy, and everyone goes around hugging each other. Which reminds me, before Jar Jar came about, the Ewoks were generally regarded as the biggest Star Wars tragedy in the series. I know that's another mark against the new movies, but the point is that Lucas (Luke...Lucas...I wonder) has a track record of self indulgence as a story teller, and if not for a bunch of moron kids from the 70s demanding that their parents spend money on this stuff, people would look at him as more or less a hack. Please please please, correct me if I'm wrong on any of this, wish I could remember my sources to cite them but hey, it's been a while.
  11. wait you mean to tell me people still play console games? that $600 bucks coulda bought a pretty nice gfx card with money left over, but i digress. i agree pretty much 100% that a real kotor3 would have beaten the crap out of an mmo from any franchise you want hands down, simply because the design demands are different enough that no matter how hard you try to incorporate "cinematic storytelling" you're gonna have to water it down. I mean, look at how awesome the Mass Effect series is....imagine how much more awesome it would be if it were a kotor series (not knockin ME but we all know kotor is the champ)
  12. Nobody tried this build at all?
  13. Yeah I actually read a post in the general forums where someone did /who on all classes and level brackets on their server, using search criteria that kept their /who list from topping out while they took count of population numbers (logged in at prime time at least). There were 5 times as many sorcs as there were for the rest of the Advanced Classes combined (per faction I'm assuming), so clearly something's up. And before I get flamers on me, personally I don't think we're OP, ranged casters are always popular though and sorc/sage are the closest to the traditional caster you can get, not to mention they represent some of the most popular star wars archetypes. So basically, the perception of us as OP is due in large part, I think, to huge population imbalances in our favor (leading to WZ's topped by 5+ sorcs at a time) which comes from high demand for this class type and the fact that being a secret agent is still not as cool as having magic powers to most people.
  14. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on what the merits/consequences would be of foregoing that last 3 points in madness and getting the snare on overload and throwing the last point wherever. It just seems that the 3 points for Creeping Death (or Creeping Terror, whichever it is, I always get them mixed up) don't really get you much considering that it costs you 3 points to get. Of course I recognize that for raiding, and the long fights/necessity of min/maxing this entails, that 3 points in Creeping Death probably gets you the most bang for your buck, I'm mostly just wondering if it makes a big enough difference to be noticed 'cause if it's not then I'd rather have an extra snare handy for pvp purposes.
  15. Perhaps this is a pvp-centric perspective, but giving up on the burst from wrath seems like it could be a HUGE loss. If you're just talking about raiding though, then yeah burst is a lot less important...
