  1. I tried stacking Alacrity, and there are some surprising benefits. Since it lowers your CDs, you get your special abilities faster (defensive cooldowns, leap, disruption, etc). Obviously your offensive abilities come more often as well. All things being equal, Alacrity is better because it both boosts your damage/second (by reducing the seconds) and causes your cooldowns to come around more often. The problem with PvP is that all things are never equal. I found that you would frequently find yourself popping out of range and having to re-locate your target (or find a new one). Since you've invested all your eggs in the attack speed basket, any time spent not using abilities is "lost". By the time you find a target and get in range someone else who stacked power instead would have their abilities off cooldown, thus negating the benefit of your alacrity. The only difference at that point is that their attacks are more powerful. For that reason, stacking alacrity is great for PvE but poor for PvP.
  2. So I'm on a PvP server and ran into a couple of players in Rishi, both of which I attacked, resulting in stalemates. Companion healing was strong enough that neither of us could kill the other. I ended up force pushing the Jedi off of a pier to death, but I couldn't kill him in proper combat. Then I ran into the same thing on Yavin 4. This time it was a Sage, but the Sage only beat me because she could force lift my companion to remove him from the fight. It has gotten to a point now where I just ignore other players because it seems pointless, and they more or less ignore me (except for the Sage and the players I attacked). Granted that I'm still on Revan Content, while my opponent in Yavin 4 had Beniko as a companion (indicating she had finished Fallen Empire). For that reason it may be the case that I'm just under-geared. Since I haven't finished going through all the storyline, I also haven't bothered to optimize my skill selections for PvP or dial in a PvP rotation. All that being said, was my experience just a matter of under-gearing and lack of experience at the top level, or do companions turn 1v1 into stalemates (unless a companion can be zoned out)?
  3. Great, thanks everyone. I had thought that either the set bonuses were attached to the shells or that the mods couldn't be removed without being destroyed. I know that you can't remove dyes without them being destroyed so I thought it was the same way. That's great to know, thanks!
  4. So I'm getting higher in the levels, and I'm noticing that I hate the way the PvP gear looks. Is there a way that I can mod gear that I do like to be just as good as the PvP gear? In particular, I like the Destroyer set. The ranked gear is especially bad...little wings? Thanks!
  5. So I want to PvP, and I want to be a force user. I want to be more of a pressure dpser, and I want to be up close and personal. Obviously that would narrow it down to jugg/guardian or sent/Mara, but which class and spec is best out of those? I'm thinking vigilance guardian for my goals. Any thoughts on this play style? Any comment on vigilance guardian? Thanks!!
  6. Can anyone help me with PvP rotations? I typically open with Spike, into Maul, then Voltaic Slash, then Shock with the force cost discount. Then I use Low Slash, and another Maul with the guaranteed duplicity buff. Is that the best way to open? Once I get past the opener, what are good rotations for mid-fight? Thanks for any help!
  7. Obviously these are both DPS builds. What tactics or strategies are they best suited for? Should they flank the enemy's back line? Are they meant to fight in the middle of the fray? What sorts of activities do you focus on when you feel you are most successful in PvP? Thanks in advance for any input.
  8. So obviously deception is a DPS build, but what sorts of strategies would you say that this class/build is best suited for in PvP? In other words, what sorts of tactics should a player running this build be focusing on? As an example, I would assume most would advise against running into the middle of the fray in light armor. What should you do then? Snipe the ranged in the back? Cut off enemy reinforcements? Do you feel this class is best suited to control/interrupt healers? Thanks in advance for any input.
