  1. Actually, subtitles wouldn't bother me at all. Especially with Jawas. I've wanted a Jawa since release.
  2. I think meow is a really good time for Cathar to debut. Meow, I know some folks were wanting to see other races, but right meow we just need to all buy the Cathar and support BW so maybe we can get some of those other races we've been dreaming about. That's life. You can't always have everything you want right meow, but for meow the Cathar will do.
  3. Sure, the game has been out a while, and most players have seen the storylines, but for those new players that have NOT seen the storyline this would be horrible spoiler. In any event, it does need to be addressed.
  4. I think it also has more active subscribers.
  5. That was kind of a rambling rant, there. There is nothing wrong with expecting a 10% return on lockbox missions. It wouldn't be game breaking, and that's all the OP is really asking for.
  6. Dailies, logging out in rest zones, and doing bonus missions/area missions.
  7. I don't know how many I see that are F2P, but I can say that for a game that's been out this long, I see more people leveling characters in every single leveling zone than I've seen in any other MMO I've played. And there are often multiple instances running. With that many people leveling new characters or that many new players, I'd say the game is very healthy, and not overly end-game oriented. That works just fine for my casual playstyle.
  8. I would hope if they don't replace Starfox altogether, they add in something more along the lines of X-wing vs Tie Fighter. Now THAT was a game that knew how to do Star Wars space missions.
  9. The planets I like the most have a lower mob density. Hoth, Tatooine, etc. The planets I like the least have a higher mob density. Balmorra, I'm looking at you.
  10. They need to back off the slicing nerf they implemented shortly after launch. True, it was out of hand, but the oversteer was just as much out of hand. Sadly, classic oversteer in MMO's you can count on like death and taxes.
  11. Very few people want a DPS meter to see who to avoid. Most, such as myself, want DPS meters to improve their own performance.
  12. Play it your way, OP. You seem to be arguing that everyone else should have to play it your way to. Not much credibility there.
  13. There are hardcore gamers in SWTOR? What in the worlds do they do with their time? SWTOR is a great casual game, and that's why I play it. And the limit of 50 planetary coms was a serious inconvenience when my altitis kicked up, which is often.
  14. The look of armor has definitely improved, but some of it is still pretty bad. I'm a "less is more" kind of guy. Give me a simple black robe, some functional looking heavy armor, or some slim profile "living on the edge" barely-there gear for my melee dps characters and I'm happy. Chains, spikes and swag...not so much.
  15. The game is more watered down than I would like, however that's part of the appeal to newer players. Star Wars is a universe that appeals to a lot more people than just the veteran MMO crowd. That being the case, I expected them to use tried and true mechanics and play systems, which they did for the most part. I think they missed the boat very badly at release with no group finder or ready-check, and continue to miss the boat by having no one-button spec swap, as those were industry standards before the game was released. While the new-to-MMO crowd never missed this stuff, it did turn a lot of veterans away from the game.
  16. The game is a reflection of the playerbase, by the numbers of course.
  17. Mando is a difficult instance to tank in 3 or 4 spots. As a healer, you're just going to have some agro here unless you have very good dps that picks up what slips the tank. And if nothing slips the tank you will probably have a dead tank if he is level appropriate. Mando is about DPS taking the pressure off the tank and the healer.
  18. Fortunately, this game isn't quite so cut and dried on that tidbit. On boss fights with a single boss, you would be correct. But in multiple mob situations, the tank will have to choose on which mobs to maintain agro, and DPS will have to pick up the weak stragglers.
  19. Yup, this little "oversight" is keeping TOR stuck in last decade's model of gaming. Keep up the pressure. What we need is one-button role-swap, complete with hot bar and gear switch.
  20. This game has a bit of a twist on tanking, in that it is the job of DPS to pick up the weak mobs while the tank focuses attention on the hard hitters. If there are multiple "strong" mobs then DPS should go head and try and cull out one or two of those as well, as half a dozen strong mobs beating on a tank results in four of those strong mobs beating on a healer when the healer has to pump the tank full of heals in a short amount of time. This is especially true when most of the longer-lasting CC in a group is of the kind that can only be used out of combat.
  21. No, it isn't a reasonable expectation for a newcomer to feel entitled that 15 other people should postpone their fun for the night so that one person who hasn't bothered to learn anything about an operation can be brought up to speed. If you've made an effort to learn, you will find the vast majority of progression players more than willing to help you in any way they can. But if you go in refusing to have done any homework beforehand and expect to be carried, you should expect to be dropped.
  22. Not possible. People come and go in a game, RL beckons, new distractions await. That doesn't mean new members can't have the decency for a little common courtesy.
  23. You should study up on ops before participating in one to be courteous to the experienced players allowing you to participate in their group. 1) Study up. Text read-throughs work better for me than videos, unless its a good quality video. In any case, you'll need to read up before you watch the video so that you know what to look for in the video. 2) Ask questions you already know the answer to so their confidence in you is increased, and as a means to double check what you've learned. "So in stage one, staying out of ground AOE is key, right? Then in stage two the targeted player has to LOS the cannon before its cast completes or its a one-shot?" 3) Stay positive, and ask for feedback. Keep learning.
  24. Exactly. The bottleneck seems to be at the tank position. I've been playing both tanks and healers the past few weeks to try and get a feel for exactly which role is in the most demand and I have to say it's the tanks. Tanks are really an instant que for me, my healer can take a few minutes, my DPS can go hours without a que.
