  1. You really don't understand the process here. Putting the function on the website would completely defeat the purpose of the device. The device takes a serial number that is unique to either your phone or the physical device they sell, and mixes it with a timecode in order to create a code that is unique to the device in your hand and is impossible for an outside source to manipulate or determine. (or at least something close to that process). Think of this way, they have a security key that they have to pay to have produced. They sell it for the lowest cost possible, but also turn around and give people a FREE option if they have a Droid or iPhone. That's generous. They COULD just tell you to use a 25 character password with 2 uppercase letters, 2 numbers, and 2 special characters, and to not be a complete idiot and respond to phishing e-mails...but instead they OFFER you extra security, or they could charge $10 bucks for they physical key, which many people would pay, not give a free option (maybe charge $10 bucks for the app in the app store too), and they'd make a fortune off of the volume sold. So in other words, hush you unappreciative troll.
  2. Well, since your account is hard locked to your security key, this would make it so that you could only play on one computer, or at the very least would have to log in to your account on SWTOR.com from that computer and turn off your security key, then logon from the computer you want to play on and go through the authentication steps on SWTOR.com each time you wanted to play on a different PC.
  3. arrrggh!!! I want something for nothing arrgggghhh!!! The security key costs us what it costs BW to produce them. They're not going to be making much of a profit off of them. The downloadable key is for iPhone and Android because those platforms are designed to allow 3rd party software to be easily made and distributed. I have a physical security key that I ordered last week. It works great and gives me peace of mind, knowing my account won't be stolen. I have a droid phone and would have just downloaded the app, but I didn't want to have to deal with customer service to get my account unlocked if my phone broke or was lost. I had to do that once with WoW's Battlenet Authenticator and it was a pain.
  4. Meh, people that think the game should look like Skyim can go cry in the toilet, but if there's a legit texture issue that's keeping the game from looking how it's designed to look I guess i'd be upset too if i had paid top dollar for my video card.
  5. I definitely would wait until there's something on the front page. I wouldn't take a chance there.
  6. That AMD Dual Core machine probably has PCI-E, but not PCI-E 2.0. I have the same issue right now with my Intel C2D machine. I currently have a GeForce 9800, but since I'm old the older PCI-E, won't a new video card just get choked out by the old bus? I've been under the impression that I need a newer Mobo (and therefore might as well do a full rebuild), in order to get any significant gains. I tend to build machines and then not keep up with current tech until it's time to build a new machine, then i read up all over again. Inefficient i know, so if i'm wrong please correct me.
  7. That makes sense. The definition as I understood it just expanded on that.
  8. I've only used mine once, and the cooldown was 18 hours. However, I bought a Fleet Pass item from one of the Security Key Vendors and it does the same thing but with a 1 Hour Cooldown. Also, my Physical Security Key seems to work well and will keep my account from getting hacked, so all together, a win win.
  9. IIRC, a Twink in WoW (and possibly other MMOs i havn't played where it may exist), was a character that was intentionally leveled to the max level for a particular bracket of PVP, given the best items that it could get for that level, and then kept from leveling any further. Example: Battlegrounds group people from levels 1-9 in one group and levels 10-19 in another, so you level you character to level 19 and use your main to give him all the best stuff you can for level 19, thus making you stronger than most of the people you PVP against.
  10. The Emergency Fleet Pass has an 18 hour cooldown. If you have a Security Key (physical or downloaded on your phone), you can buy a Fleet Pass for 1000 credits from the Security Key Vendor, it only has a 1 hour cooldown, and your star ship is pretty easily accessible from where it drops you off.
  11. I'd like a mailbox on my ship and the ability to fast travel to my ship from anywhere on the planet, at least every 30 or 60 minutes. Maybe even just make the existing Quick Travel cooldown have a Travel to Ship Option on it.
  12. I keep my left hand on a Belkin N52 Speedpad for movement and combat, with my el-cheapo keyboard just being there for hotkeys that I don't use in combat (like Inventory, Character Sheet, etc).
  13. That'd be boring as hell IMO. You'd be OP and would just wax everything. The story line should progress with you, that's the whole point of this game. The story line is all about your character progressing in his/her career, which happens in parallel with both your character leveling up and you getting better as a player.

I've played lots where you can Redistribute your points within your class selection (which you can here, it's even free the first time, i've done it as a Powertech), but i've never seen an MMO that allows you to fully change classes, which is what is being suggested in this thread. Look at the difference between the Bounty Hunter's Powertech and Mercenary. Both have Damage Dealing capability, so lets ignore that for a sec. The primary difference between the two is that Powertech is a Tank, Mercenary is a Healer. Those are different roles, and that's why you can't change between the two. You CAN however respec your Powertech from being able to Tank to being able to deal Damage, and they're even going to include Dual Spec at some point (or so i've heard).
  15. Actually, i'm playing great on a 2005 machine. (Ok you got me, it's a 2007 machine) Medium settings and Frames get bogged down around large scale combat, but I havn't crasshed a single time.
