I actually agree with the previous poster who suggested some kind of a hybrid system. Something to boost overall participation would be huge, but not in a free for all kind of environment. The expertise check is already in place in regular warzones, it wouldn't be that difficult to use it to eliminate improperly geared players from the queue with a message stating they need gear. Having a valuable achievable wins reward AND a valuable rating reward, would not be horrible, though possibly allowing people to choose which they're queueing for could alleviate some of the unease of the super serious ranked players, who don't realize the rating everyone else is measuring by, is group ranked.
One of the biggest issues in the ranked community, at least on Harb, is the level of toxicity amongst the players. There's not simple trash talking going on there. There is open harassment, general hostility, and all kinds of irrational behavior related to player interactions outside the pvp environment, and even outside of the game itself. And I'll tell you something else, I know of a top 3 player who had other people play his characters to get him there, and he's the worst offender when it comes to toxic attitudes . None of these things are healthy for a solid ranked community.
